Yano as someone who grew up with ZERO people around that were interested in music so now try and encourage my daughter with my instruments, I can't imagine the pride your Dad must have in having a son that can play like you do. Awesome stuff. Looking forward to seeing that Oswald! One day I may have the patience it takes to get something so bespoke haha

Paul. Congrats on your new guitar day. The nicest, joyous, most exciting thing a guitar player can experience.
And Summertime was lovely, lazy, jazzy, laid back, just like a warm summer's day. Some great tones in that box, and that whammy...!
I too had a new guitar day yesterday. May I share?
After agonising over it for a week of guilt, weird dreams, cold sweats, and should I - shouldn't I... I agreed a deal on a Gibson J200.
I've had the Standard before, sold it, tried a few more, none have really done it for me, but this one is different, the business. It's what you imagine and want a SJ200 to sound like, big, blonde, dangerous, loud, soft whispers, sweet highs, growling bass and it's actually a maple Studio, not a Standard!
Those who know will agree Gibsons are so darn fickle, have to hunt high and low for a really good one (or just be lucky) but this goes to prove they are out there, and this one more or less fell into my lap.

What a special Father's Day moment for both of you. Most people think of receiving a as better, but I'll bet you anything that your dad is the happiest man watching you play and appreciate that guitar.😉
While I was watching you play without a pick, I noticed how close the Bixby bar is to your hand without you even noticing yourself. I think you could easily adjust your finger picking style to keep the bar lightly tucked under your pinky finger and simply roll your palm down and back slightly with a soft bouncing motion to get the rolling effect you want without the delay of reaching for the bar each time. It might take a bit of getting use to, but definitely worth a try. I know you use your palm and heal to mute similar to the way I do and most of that can still be done by letting your pinky rise up naturally while you are picking. Or you will find another method that helps you refine those Bixby smooth rolls.🎸
What an amazing gift and it shows.🙂🤙

Now Paul don't you dare go relicing that nice shiny guitar...lol....im like your Dad in that i like to keep them new looking as long as i can ( although most of mine have the usual dings and wear thst comes naturally from years of use ) ..I've always thought you'd suit a hollow body jazz box.....I remember extolling the virtues of my ibanez GB10 George Benson guitar on your comments section.....I know that this gretch isn't strictly a "jazz box" but immediately pretty sure it will do the whole jazz thing...I also love a Bigsby ( I have one on my 2006 Korean epiphone casino)...I see you enjoying a good old wiggle waggle...very Richard Hawley...you'd like Richard Hawley...he's from my neck of the woods Sheffield...I used to watch his uncle the late great Frank White...a guitar player who arguably could play Eric Clapton under the table...at The Pheasant every Friday night as a teenager...nick his links and try to use them in my little R&B group...Frank should have been massively famous...I remember seeing him one night at the pub play and on the Sunday he knocked on my door...wearing the same suit jacket he wore at the gig....but with the sleeves rolled down selling the watchtower and awake...he was a practicing jehovahs witness.....i bought a copy and told him i saw him play and he explained that he only played gigs as it.gave him more time to serve jehovah and help people find jehovahs love....he was such a lovely humble guy....
hey...bit of a jehovahs witness theme going on here as...of course Jazz legend and world respected virtuoso George Benson is also a devout Jehovahs witness..anyways religion aside great superlative playing as always.....and if you get a chance check out Richard Hawley....he always speaks fondly of his uncle Frank and how fantastic he was as a player and musician....
