It should not be their product after being bought. Once you buy it, you should be able to do what the hell you want to do with it. I can guarantee they will lose a lot of sales.
I already threw mine away months ago,when they deleted my apps one day.Bought the Google ONN device.Works just like a firestick.Only $15.
I feel that the whole leasing of products and software needs to stop. I don’t mind company’s being paid but it’s no different from buying gas for the car but having to subscribe to a $19.99/month in order to use that gas. I should be able to use my bought and paid for products as I deem fit. If they offer a yearly upgrade and want to charge a fee, either full price for new or an upgrade path depending on how many versions back you are.
It’s spiraling out of control and I no longer support any service or company that chooses this business model. And I think it’s going to change or change your kind of work, or don’t sell certain items or try and pull the shit that Amazon is. Cracked software is available because of this, plenty of other streaming devices with no advertising or rules on usage, so stop selling them. We will stop buying them anyway so they cannot win this either way.
Yes, ..., just like the iPhone…. They want to and do charge you for iCloud storage… complete grift… they tell you you need to buy storage every month to keep your apps working properly…. Complete and utter bullshit...!!!

I've been quite content with Nvidia Shield…. I stream anything at any time freely… been using the Nvidia... Going on 10 years with no problems….
There are much better devices…. Then, ...you don't have to comply to utter bullshit….

Final straw. I’ve bought my last fire tv device. Which is a shame after all these years.
I have plenty of devices too.They play check mate all they want.Someone smart comes out with a new device.
I have the Onn4k Walmart. 4 of them Sideloading I have done with them.
Firestick isn't the only game in town
If I go very long without updating, I end up with it anyhow, have no choice, it automatically gets installed.
They won't force me at all... I'll simply just go get an Nvidia or an android streaming box🤷🏽♂️
Nvidia is good if you’re a gamer but to just side load it’s a lot of money when there are cheaper options that do the same plays they haven’t updated since 2019

The Walmart Onn is an excellent option especially for under $20 USD.

If you don't ditch your FireStick devices after watching this video, then you deserve what you get. I ditched my FireStick devices over a year and a half ago for the NVIDIA Shield Pro. Never had a problem since.
Many of us have just recently bought all new models of fire stick and cube😢
They also getting pinged by content companies (And they are also a content company) and they are slowly making it so you wont be able to use IPTV and fully use Kodi etc.
The way Amazon is going peeps will abandon it and get Nvidia shields or Android boxes.

Android don’t have any strict stuff !! But you have to turn off couple switches to allow third party apps after that your good !!!
Absolutely. No headaches with the NVIDIA Shield Pro.
The ADB debugging is still there but you can't connect to the TDUK apps to clear the cache or close apps anymore.
You can't stop their updates. Amazon lost me as a user. I will never use or buy another firestick just like Apple. You can turn ADB on & off but it doesn't make a difference. Mouse Toggle other any app will not work.

In the UK these apps are no longer available - even if you'd bought them. (You can find them but it says that they're not compatible with your device).
Strangely though you can still use *Remote ADB* on another device (e.g. Android phone) - it's only *local* ADB that is blocked by the new update. (And it is local ADB that TDUK's apps and other such apps use). So their comment re. improving security is utter bullocks.
Mouse toggle stopped working on my fire cube 2nd generation after latest amazon software update, i won't be doing anymore updates 😢
Look for a wiper every time I see a update I will let start load jump into my wiper and when it's done it will say your Device has never been updated

Debugging is still on. You just cannot connect to it so your apps will not open.

Amazon haciendo la vida más difícil, hace poco he encontrado un fallo a mi juicio grave:
Es que la decodificación por hardware de los fire tv esta rota, en algunos videos el video se congela, se sigue escuchando el audio, los mismos videos se reproducen correctamente en otros dispositivos., los modelos afectados 4k max gen1, 4k max gen2, esto sucede en videos en h264., parece un fallo hecho intencionalmente y forma dolosa.
En kodi puede "corregir el fallo" desactivando la aceleración grafica pero surgen otros problemas serios que hacen que no quieras seguir usando el fire tv.
