I do want self checkout though because I am both introverted and on the spectrum, and also work customer service (against my better judgement) and have spoken to enough people long before I have to pick up my groceries. Like, I could've had a week off already and I'm still burnt from talking to people and forcing small talk.
If they have to take some of them away because of theft, fine, but I will wait longer in a longer line of it means I don't have to force one more conversation this week.

Course not… bc I think even they know that ppl who respect the art, respect the industry & respect the artists would never support this… mostly bc the last thing anyone who is truly apart of this community supports is stealing other ppls art & copying peoples tattoos…. That’s the who foundation of this company. This is the same model as TikTok… Just copy & pretend you’re doing something ground breaking while never having a real, original idea of your own. (That’s not all of TikTok but…. Let’s be real. That’s all TikTok is on the surface. Trends & a bunch of kids trying to copy a kid who has more clout… so this is for those ppl)

The plan is push out the artists making good stuff so that enough of the population will be forced to accept their pos.
Beyond that, if you make cheaper widgets, Pirates can steal those. No one can steal a server farm. Plus then, all they have to make is some code. They don't need to make anything physical in most cases and that is way easier.

The first thing that came to my mind as I started watching this is the blood, sweat and tears that went into my calf tattoo. I'd only had my arm tattooed before that, so it took me completely by surprise when I realised how tickly it was, making my leg muscles want to contract every time the needle hit. For hours, the artist and I worked together to make that tattoo happen -- me by supressing the twitching for as long as I could, and her by being incredibly in tune with my body language and lifting the needle when she could see that I could not take it anymore. No machine could ever replicate that trust and human connection, no matter how 'precise'.

  • @maneyd.6631
    @maneyd.6631 5 месяцев назад +71

Ok as a tattoo artist there are multiple things that I want to ask about this
    - How much of the machine can you take appart/clean ? you'd be surprised where the blood and ink can end up. Unless the entire area of the machine that sits above the skin can be taken off and cleaned with a disinfectant wipe, its unsanitary.
-If a client has an adverse reaction, how quickly can you help them ? That could be fainting, spasming, puking, passing out... You never know how people are going to react to a tattoo. If the machine takes longer than a hand movement to be safely away from the client's skin so they can be helped, then its dangerous.
-How does it handle older skin ? Or healed scar tissue ? We have to adapt the speed of our machine, the pressure exerted and how much we stretch the skin pretty much based on person to person. I simply dont think it can adapt to properly work on every skin type.
All in all, I dont think its a threat to the industry. I think its another example of tech bros/wealthy people trying to take something thats usually "lesser" for them (tattoos are still seen as quite trashy by the mainstream) and make it into an exclusive behind a paywall.
Keep in mind im only halfway through the video but I just wanted to express my concerns before I forgot.

This technology as far as I know was developed for injections for people that can't have regular injections because they will bleed to death (disease that prevent a person from healing any skin break), so no blood there, the ink droplets are injected with pressure so almost no skin break happens.
Apart from that the rest issues remain. Takes loooong, not so flexible with placement and size especially going bigger etc.
Also this method cost like few grands, so not many will afford it and therefore this tech won't improve a lot.
It won't cost 30-60$ per tattoo which junior artist can charge when they start.

The biggest red flag for me is the promise of high detail. Tattoo artists have the ability to make highly detailed tattoos. There are so many examples of it - and they’re usually by the shadier artists who don’t care that it will look like crap in a few years. Imagine how detailed the true masters could go! The lack of detail is NOT a skill issue. It’s a property of skin.

A setting like that would probably trigger my medical trauma and make me much more anxious than I would be otherwise. Obviously I get some nerves before getting tattooed because it’s a big commitment but being in an all white room, strapped down, people watching from the sidelines, no ability to stop asap if needed would really freak me out.

Hot take could be just me but: if you cant respect the history, dont be in the industry. There is cultural significance with tattoos, there is such a deep history throughout the world with tattooing, there is a reason tattoos have been around as long as they have been. And then this comes along and it honestly infuriates me as a tattoo artist, it takes away the human aspect of it. As a tattoo artist yes you are an artist, but your also a therapist, a friend, a shoulder to cry on, etc.. i do this because I love hearing people's stories and being able to be a small part of it and being able to give someone art that lasts forever is an incredible feeling!

I am not really scared about the tattoo industry though as no machine could ever compare to a real tattoo artist. It's not only about putting lines or dots, it's about the whole experience and journey your supposed to have when getting tattooed. My take is that they weren't trying to recruit heavily tattooed people or entice tattoo lovers AT ALL. We are definitely not their target audience. They were advertising to the Instagram mini tattoo crowd, (no shade to them, or at least not much. And anyways, they'll probably be more heavily tattooed after they have to get that tiny smudge covered 😅), and not people who would be scared or turned off by alternative culture. This is something they're selling to tech bros and their "clean girl" girlfriend's, the beige mom's, the Stanley cup collectors.. people who might be intimidated by tattoo shops and artists/people with colored hair and lots of tattoos and piercings, but who still want to feel cool while keeping an "air of respectability". The kind of people who would have gotten YOLO tattoos back in the day, but really small and hidden. I have a neighbor who would love this kind of tiny tattoo, same girl who looked at my chest piece and told me:
"So pretty, it must be hard to get a job though! I really want a little flower behind my ear someday."
Yeah it's really hard to get a job.. I'm a disabled artist. Lol. I told her that really nicely though, she seems like a sweet girl, she's just not used to being around people like me, and I'm pretty sure she said something about how her parents "would kill her" if she got a visible tattoo. But she could probably convince her parents to allow her to do something like this robo-tatt without them throwing a tantrum, especially if they were showed the commercial. Those boys are so "wholesome" and unthreatening looking, but somehow still have enough.. idk.. edge of youth(?) to appeal to certain demographics. They could probably also pull in a lot of the more "regular guy" types and nerdy types. Like my bf, he's a total square bear in terms of tattoos and style choices. (To be clear, I adore him, I I'm totally fine with him having whatever style makes him comfy. Plus, he's cute, sweet, AND he taught me how to cook Larb and Pad Thai, him wearing cargo shorts is a small price to pay.😂) He would find a tattooing robot really really cool and interesting, maybe even be tempted to get one. As an artist I don't want to put other artists out of business, but I have to admit I find it fascinating as well, even if I would never get a tattoo that's going to age that poorly and eventually look like I, (as per usual), got too enthusiastic w with my art supplies. Every time I would look at it I would have that moment of thinking.. damn it.. and going to go wash the ink smudges off my skin. 😂
Sorry for the long ass comment, insomnia has me in its hideous grasp. Lol.
