Comparing a robot that is used by a surgeon who has been trained for years to use the robotic arms as an extension of their own abilities to a robot that is not controlled by a person but is closer to a 3D printer with needles is laughable. The comparison alone should be enough to show they don’t know wtf they are doing

It's kind of cool that I actually have knowledge that corresponds to something in the video. I'm a certified sterilization tech, which decontaminates and sterilizes surgical instruments, including the surgical robotic arms. The arms themselves are fully detached after surgery to be decontaminated through a fairly rigorous process. They are checked to see if they are damaged in any way. They even have a built-in indicator for when they are no longer operable. Once decontaminated, they are once again examined to see if they are clean and undamaged/fully functioning. They are then sterilized in high temp steam autoclaves before being used again. The surgeons/surgical techs themselves would also visually inspect the test the tools to make sure they're safe. Something tells me this tech startup in a less heavily regulated field isn't doing as rigorous maintenance 🤔

Actually if i was forced to choose between the two, id rather chose a rude tattoo artist over that machine, for multiple reasons (wont cost 9 grand, wont be a miniscule tattoo that will end up incomprehensible, giving money to someone that is doing labor instead of going to people who just stand there and look at the machine doing the job*...etc)
So yeah, no machine for me.
*like i know artists are paid for the tattoo they design but yk the whole public domain thing means it doesnt always happen, i also know people have to put on stencils and monitor the machine but they are aiming for it to be oh so safe and self sufficient that it would mean that barely any work is put into it so why even pay? Seems like it. It also seems like it was maybe set up by people who were too intimidated by tattoo artists to get one, so their solution was to design a machine to do it so they didn't have to speak to someone.
Just like Ephemeral, their time is limited by the results of the tattoo aging. Since it is only really becoming commercial talked about now, the more recent uptick in people getting them as guinea pigs...I give it probably 2-4 years before we see an influx of "this is how my BlackDot tattoo healed" vids. You cant engineer my body to not metabolize and slowly fade the ink away or migrate the ink under my skin. 🤦‍♀️

    • @writeonshell
      @writeonshell 4 месяца назад +23

Exactly this! Neither can you control the variances between that medium on different people. eg My skin LOVES colour but spreads black. Other people I know lose colour first and fast but their black looks almost exactly at it did the day it was done. Then there are allergy issues. Even the best tattoo artist can only control so much of the outcome.

What jumps out at me about them “engineering their tattoos for longevity” is that if they actually figured out how to make tattoos last without spreading or otherwise deteriorating, *that* technology would be what their investments and PR would be about, not getting a tattoo from a robot. From a purely money perspective, that would be revolutionary enough by itself to set them up for life.

Like, technicians putting earplugs in your ears with over-ear protection loud. Surgical nurse here....a robotic surgery is not done by a robot. It's controlled by a human being sitting in the same room. Additionally there is a team of people scrubbed in assisting the surgeon while they are sitting at the controls. It's more like a remote controlled car than a "robot". It does nothing without human input. If anything goes wrong(which I've never seen by the way) they would troubleshoot the machine instantly. Plus these machines are multimillion dollar machines that have been around for 15-20 years by now. They aren't brand new technology.
To compare the blackdot machine to robotic surgery shows that they have no idea what they are talking about and how delusional they are.

My second tattoo was a horrid experience. It left me with some intense needle anxiety, even just the sound of a tattoo gun would make me start breathing faster (there was a very common commercial running at the time, and it involved a tattoo gun. Watching TV felt like a ticking time bomb). About six years later I finally felt ready for a new tattoo, and went to a local artist. I explained to her what I had gone through, and she was so amazing. She gave me a lot of breaks, chatted with my non-stop, she even gave me some of her secret candy supply that she reserved for clients that she liked. I felt so comforted and taken care of, I even teared up a few times.
THAT is what getting a tattoo should be about. I'm saving up so I can go back to her before I move out of the city. That woman healed me. It makes me so mad that some tech bros are trying to 'disrupt' an industry based on human connection and artistry. The tech industry bubble is going to destroy our culture for decades to come.

I, someone who grew up mostly in hospitals in and out chronically ill and has to go back to hospitals and doctors appointments quite frequently. I could not handle a tattoo in a white clinical setting. Being scrapped down like I am from medical procedures. When I go get tattooed, it a tough subject with my health. And I want to be able to connect with the person. Who's doing my tattoo and making sure we're both comfortable doing the tattoo.

As a person who grew up being in horrid medical settings. Same. I can't with white walls and clinal setting

People who know absolutely nothing about tattooing/the human body trying to commoditize tattoos 🙇‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    (love the new hairstyle!!)
My goodness they are literally embarrassing themselves more at this point
They pretend to have an answer for every critique, yet keep missing the point. There is no way to “engineer” the tattoo so that it ages well, cause they can’t engineer the skin of each client, how their aging process will look like etc.
I was about to choke on my snack when they replied “we won’t have the issue of copying tattoos, the machine doesn’t support ctrl + C, ctrl + V” 💀💀💀
