Don't be scared when it goes black screen 6:03 and 16:11 it is just the darkness of my heart not catching it in editing.
just throw in a picture of game cube component cables, careful even jpegs are worth $200
@@RyanH2002good bit.
Too satanic Johnny, too satanic.
I hope resident evil 8 would be Jill valentine, main villain would be Albert weskers son
15:51 The moment Rob starts to realise Johnny is taking his display even though he wasn’t offering it to him!! 😂
Rob is back! woohoo! I love when you guys get together!
The OG RE2 is still the benchmark. RE4 brought a new style of gameplay to the franchise and the recent RE2 remake blended the two.
This ^^^
I honestly never liked 2 that much. It just felt so easy and kind of random, police station with puzzles? What? I always liked the first game more than 2. That said, Claire is my fav character in the series.
Tell people something they don't already know you dullard.
@@Walamonga1313 If you played the game, you'd know the police station was previously an old museum.
Personally I still think RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time. There are so many secrets and strategies in that game that you always discover something new every time you play it.
The setting and variety of monsters was personally great. Lots of tense, tightly designed encounters that keep you on your toes and for RE standards, some fun bosses. The third person gameplay, exploration and sense of progression was so impressive and innovative for the time that it inspired the entire industry with what was possible going forward.
The escort mission might be one of the best I've seen handled in any video game. Ashley stays behind you like glue and can be directed into places to hide when things get crazy so she doesn't get in the way. Ashley also gets separated from you on many occasions meaning you aren't looking after her for like half the game. She also helps you progress at certain points by opening locked doors, finding items and even driving a truck to escape making the pair quite effective. Knowing the game the way I do now, it's not very taxing to escort Ashley like it might first appear. The merchant is a treat of a character also.
I love RE4, but I agree with Rob that it does feel isolated from the original RE trilogy. Not to mention that RE4 isnt as tense as the original trilogy.
I still love the game though. It's an amazing third person shooter with horror elements.
Although I disagree with Rob about Ashley being a burden. She is barely even there. Yes, it is an escort mission, but it's not an intrusive one at all. Not to mention she gets taken away at a numerous points like you said.
Overall, I'd say RE4 is an awesome game, but misses some of the elements that make the Resident Evil series what it is supposed to be.
@@cherylsanders5538 That's fair. I like that it is it's own thing because it was unfamiliar and unsettling to get thrown into new territory. Standing on it's own within the crazy RE timeline makes it quite a special case but I will admit it could be jarring for a long time fan used to the originals.
I think after 1, 2, 3, CV, Remake and Zero, they thought at the time that the style was getting predicable and too familiar so they fundamentally changed things. As a one off experience for the time, I think it was the right decision. There were many unsettling enemies, not just plaga villagers but the El Gigantes, blind guys with claws and the Regenerators (the list goes on). I thought it made for more variety and more enemies to figure out how to take down.
I can see why it's not for everyone and it certainly doesn't have the really atmospheric, quiet tone of the originals that made you feel frightened. However it can certainly throw some harrowing scenarios at you that got my heart racing and made me think fast before I was in danger.
I really wanted to like RE4 but I played it for the first time right after I beat RE2 Remake and I couldn't get past the terrible camera view and controls
@@5dollarshake263 You got to consider when it was released, dude. When the game came out the type of things more commonly seen in third person shooters just weren't there. So the devs just stuck to making the aiming the thing to be amazed by. And even if the camera is super close, that was also done on purpose so you wouldn't be able to have a peripheral view of the action. The trade-off, though, for not having all that is you get some of the most robustly designed levels that are centered around shooting everything in gaming history,
This is the only channel I’ve watched consistently since around 2010. I love it now just as much as I did then.
The first OG Resident Evil is my personal GOAT. It's gaming perfection in my opinion. People complain about the controls but they're flawless if you just take the time to get used to them. I play through it a few times every year, never gets old.
It’s aged like fine wine IMO
RE4 and RE1 remake are my favorites. Both are masterpieces for different reasons.
Indeed
Re remake my favorite resident evil
I've replayed them both many more times than I can count
Those might just be the best RE games of all time to be fair.
That's fucken awesome you have that res evil 3 display stand, that things a time machine.
"I can deke 'em" needs to be Rob's new slogan. We need it on a shirt!
Did rob suddenly join a biker gang?
Yes. It is called MC Gamer Life.
Now that they're remaking "3", they could finally correct the title.
Resident Evil 2.5: Nemesis
Resident Evil 3: Code Veronica
Good man.
Soldier-2Point0 or Capcom could release them both in one remade package called...
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis X Code Veronica.
@Soldier-2Point0 You for real? People would pay top dollar for an RE 3 REmake. The original PlayStation trilogy was top tier
I consider Resident evil 2 the best in the series, but my Favorite is Resident evil 3. You really fill like your escaping racoon city and the ending was pretty awesome. Not campy like Resident evil 2's ending
Totally agree my dude
I disliked 3 when it released but I have been returning to things that I disliked and find things aren't as bad as I remember and a lot of times end up changing my opinion, 3 is on my to do list. I hope they give 3 the R3make I'm sure it deserves. 2 was always my favorite followed by CV and then 1.
And Code Veronica was the original RE3 so it should be included
And code veronica was better than RE 3 too lol
Exactly
I figured he would skip CV. I think he's just a casual RE fan. Nonetheless, CV is indeed the real RE3, so this list is annulled.
Donny Nightmare Excuse me? Nemesis "STAAAARRRSSS!" Plausible? Hahahaha
@Donny Nightmare CV was an ambitious project. It was obvious Cap wanted to go big with CV. Feelings aside, CV was recieved very highly by fans and critics.
Hey Johnny and Rob I love the show been watching for 5 years. I enjoy the positivity you both inject into our unique community. Keep on being the wonderful humans you are and I wish y’all the best!
15:51 The moment Rob starts to realise Johnny is taking his display even though he wasn’t offering it to him!! 😂
Resident Evil 4 on my Wii was one of my favorite single player experiences of all time.
Schmidteren same. That game is in my top 10 list, it was just so incredibly amazing.
Yep.
Thats my alltime favorite game.
You guys played 1-3 when they were released?
I'd love a stream of you and rob man playin RE6, Leon's story is the only one worth playing imo.
Personally Leon's story kind of has the least amount of actual story. It kind of just teases all the other campaigns. Sure I like Leon and sure it's the purest of the campaigns but in many ways, that conflicts with the style of game 6 is which makes Leon's campaign a little lukewarm. That's just my opinion anyway.
@@ShigKirby I never actually noticed that, I think maybe because RE had moved so far away from what it was I was just like "meh another RE CoD game" but over the years I've grown to just enjoy each for what they are so I'm gonna replay RE 6 and pay attention this time around. Thanks for your input, always great to hear others opinions.
@@theeryan6097 No problem. While I won't say I particularly like 6 very much, I'd say the other campaigns feel more like the core of what RE6 is. In some respects Leon's feels almost like an afterthought or cleanup for some of the plot probably because they expect players to play his campaign first. That does end up making the campaign feel like you are running around looking for answers rather than having a good standalone story and in many ways Leon after the president dies just kind of gets caught up in events. I wouldn't be satisfied and would be lost if I only played Leon's campaign as it doesn't really get into the meat of the game, even if it still in terms of content and what you fight, is a good chunk of the game.
Nah Leon's campaign sucks. Forced walking sections, tedious and long levels, the game aiming for you after cutscenes as if you were too stupid to do it yourself... God I hate 6
I love it every time Rob makes an appearance. The chemistry and the stories are so entertaining. That story of Rob and his Jill cutout had me laughing. Great stuff!
I love the videos you guys do together. Such a great and positive energy, closest thing to actually sitting with good friends and laughing about games. Keep it up!
It's funny how in the re2 remake mr x has overshadowed birkin, but in the original it seemed like birkin overshadowed Mr x. Funny how things change sometimes
Cooking Sauce Well you know, X gon deliver to ya. 😊
There is a ton of back and forth on it. And since X dies in Claires game via birkin, it's just... weird. The big problem is the scenario set ups. They don't make sense. X chasing you throughout the police station is fine in my opinion, but it gets you tripped up via the pressure to run into zombies.
Played it first on Hardcore, limped in danger 80% of the game. I wouldn't have wanted that experience ANY other way. Love it.
RE5 is so run and gun.
RE6: hold my beer...
I really enjoy when Rob is around at Johnny's house doing his funny faces and voices haha
Resident evil 1 2 and 3 are by far my favorites in the series and the RE1 remake pushed the gamecube to its limit and in terms of ports the dreamcast ports of RE2 and RE3 are the best ones to get.
RE3 didn't have a normal mode, it had an easy mode and a hard mode. The Hard Mode is the real deal.
@DrLite He most certainly was. In easy mode you indeed do start with an assault rifle. I personally found RE3 to be the hardest RE since not only it didn't have a normal difficulty setting but it also had more challenging puzzles as compared to the other games.
@@azwerbukhari579 0, 3 and CV are the hardest REs imo. Comparing Normal modes throughout the franchise at least (Hard in 3 counts as Normal too)
Resident Evil 4, specifically on the Wii, is easily the best game in the series in my opinion. Combat, characters, music, environments... That game nailed pretty much everything.
It isn't scary and it isn't survival horror!
No way CODE: Veronica is an off-shoot haha! It's part of the main series, Johnny! :P
I agree, Veronica is the real part 4.
Resident Evil 3 only started with an M-16 when you played on easy mode
I feel like the only soul on Earth that enjoyed playing through Resident Evil 5 when it first came out.
Nah I liked it to but I was 7 and now I have seen the whole series and what it used to be.Re5 is if re was fast pace but I still like it now tho and I will play the old ones if I can.
3 is my personal favourite. I brought it on release day and played it into the early hours.
Sounds like Johnny played it on the "easy" setting, which sadly ruins the whole experience.
Yeah the "hard" mode is actually the normal mode or the main way to play through it. Much more challenging when you have to start with the pistol and more limited ammo
The easiest is RE2, by far.
@@nicosimioni7363 not if you're playing on DC or PC on hard
I know this is random but it is videos like this that really make me glad I found this channel and started subscribing! It's nice to see in this day and age of ultra negativity and outrage someone being positive about video games and having fun!
It’s always a great time when Rob comes over and you two wax nostalgic
Re1 was the game that made me jump to playstation. It was so cool hearing the characters. It felt more like a movie.
I remember when Clair was in the shorts, I remember. - Old Man Rob Man
Love the reminiscing videos. Nostalgia at it’s finest. I’ve never played these games but I think I’m going to have to.
I had to stop this video 4 years ago as I hadn't played 7. Finally finished it, I'm back and loving the video all over again.
hey john, i hope things went well with the procedure. i want to let you know that i go back and watch a lot of your older vids all the time. i feel like we have similar tastes within certain genres, and we both have near identical backgrounds in fighting games. i really like this video (and always enjoy the robman) and as im watching it today i thought about what you’re going through and i wanted to let you know that i really appreciate you. your genuine positivity is what i dig the most and your love of video games is so whole-hearted that i constantly have been going back to your older vids just to hear you talk about whatever. hopefully in the future you can get with rob and talk about village together. again, i hope things went well with the procedure and the road to recovery is a steady and successful one. best wishes to you and both your ladies. until next time.
Very fun video for the wife and I to watch :). We were glad after RE7 and now the RE2 remaster looks like Capcom has found it's way back home and back to making fun good quality horror games.
Everyone says that they hate Resident Evil 6. I'm sure some of them played it and hated it, but I'm also sure that most of them haven't played it.
I liked RE6 a lot, specially Leon and Ada campaigns, but Jake's and Chris too (Chris campaign is full action, don't expect any survival horror component in his campaing , but this isn't a bad thing, just different).
Once you play it, maybe you'll like it, maybe you'll hate it, but I've leared to play games everyone says are horrible if I was interested in them before the bad talk. I've found some great games because of that.
Resident Evil 5 honestly beyond devastating for me. Ill never forget that feeling. :(
I'm a Big fan!!
Please don't ever stop bringing us a new episode!
Happy Console Gamer!💜💜💜
That RE4 segment was hilarious. Johnny saying W O W is me whenever I'm surprised hearing someone's hot take on a popular title.
I'd watch that.
In Resident evil 6 leons campaign the zombies were making a comeback :D
Love the show and the long videos (with Rob!)
Literally on a HCG binge waiting for his thoughts on RE8. Im addicted to the game atm. I cant help but wanna know how Johnny feels.
I love it when rob is in the videos, what a guy.
You two should live stream RE6 sometime. Even though it's more action-oriented like Gears of War, a friend from way back and I had a blast playing through all the scenarios, couch co-op style. Thanks for all you do and best wishes!
It's nice to see Rob, I hope we see him a little more once in while.
You guys play off each other so well. Hilarious. Awesome review.
I actually love zero stressful switching between two characters and that’s the point, give it a shot.
Code Veronica is my favorite though.
I literally laughed out loud when the other guy said that RE4 is not "Resident Evil because it doesn't have zombies in it".
It’s not resident evil because it’s not horror
Resident Evil 3 is awesome! Can't wait to see how they will approach the (hopefully inevitable) remake!
I'm actually worried about the next Remake. The developers who made 7, and Re2 Remake are not making Re3 Remake, which will be by devs not even a part of Capcom, since those devs are working on 8. Kinda worries me the new devs wont measure up to that quality.
4 is my favorite and I carry the most nostalgia for. For years my brother, cousin and I play through it on PS2 with beers and bud. It's almost part of a tradition alongside Tekken tag. Played through on PS2, wii and GameCube and somehow I never tire of it. It's the perfect time killer for me. And those memories are great. Great game.
Its so funny you laugh the same 😂
The chemistry between you two is as good as ever. Thanks for a great video!
I love this video, can't wait to hear both Rob & Johnny's thoughts on RE6.
All I see is 2 adults enjoying their time playing games in excitements like children. Love it!
I enjoyed 6 but really needed to play it with a friend and not take anything seriously. There are still some very fun moments with co-op.
I love Rob’s characters. You two are so much fun together. Thanks for the happy game reviews🙂
They are true friends. They both "machine gun" laugh in the same way :D
“Where’s my crown”. Kills me every time!
Resident Evil 6...stopped playing after a few hours as it was killing my joy of the Resident Evil series.
removing Zero and CV is sin cause they are good games tbh
0 is just better than Code Veronica and 6
“Im really hyped to play re6”
My god i feel bad for you both.
RE 6 is fun, especially co-op. You and Rob will have a good time, especially having different storylines to play through, each with a slightly different 'feel'. Maybe a live stream of you two playing? Enjoy!
ROFL when Jill's head popped up from the bottom of the screen when Rob was talking about her, if you're looking for something to help get rid of that price sticker on your sealed copy of Resident Evil 3 Johnny then I highly recommend a product called Goo gone which is great for removing stickers, I've used it on a few of my own games to get rid of the stickers and residue safely.
My favorites are the RE1 remake on gamecube and the remaster on PS4, RE2 on PS1 and remake on PS4, and RE 7. RE7 really brought it back to survival horror for my and although it was short, I replayed it a few times for unlockable weapons/items.
Same on the favourites
I love you and Rob episodes. Two best buddies 💙
RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time. In my top 10. Interesting take on the whole experience
RE1 was the only "survival" game in the series. After that you always got too much ammo
If you play on standard mode ya. Hard mode is always the true survival aspect
@@DemonKingNemo looks like you dont really know resident evil games
@@artoub8143 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Because I said play on hard mode to solve your fucking ammo issue that means I don't know RE games. Lmfao. Whatever you say dude.
Wtf you on about. Even RE5 doesnt have much ammo lmao
@@DemonKingNemo nope, because not all of them even have a hard mode
What's up dudes? Nice to see Rob back in the mix!
My 1st Resident Evil game was Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo 64. I wish I could find a copy now just for nostalgia sake.
RE2 was my first RE game which I played because my friend had finished his copy so he gave it to me to keep. RE has been one of my favourite series ever since then.
I like every mainline RE and CVX and the Revolutions. I also like the Outbreaks.
You only get the assault rifle in RE3 if you play on normal difficulty. You can't unlock things on normal difficulty.
RE4 is easily one of the greatest games ever made. I own it for for PS2, PS3 and PS4.
Yeah it's funny with resident evil 3, code veronica is resi 3, but capcom had contractual obligations with sony and yadda yadda :) great vid!
I really love y'all's conversations, it would be really cool to hang out with you two. Rob Man needs a video game crown for Christmas.
I quit my job back in the day to stay home and play RE2.... Loved that game so freaking much.
HOLY.FUCK. YES. Thank you HCG and Rob, was hoping we'd keep ridin the RE train after hearing about your RE2 escapades.
Loading up RE2 again now, fuckin hell
Man, Rob sounds like he should play RE4 again! I may be partial because it is one of my favorite games of all time, but come on. The game was spooky as hell when it first came out, no other game seemed to come close to that atmosphere you got in the dirty asf villages with creepy people (don't even get me started about when it's night time, there are torches, and you can't see anything); the castle with the cultists; all that. Yes the game was different, but I really liked the change - the fact that we weren't just dealing with T-Virus zombies gave the writers an opportunity to make something new and mysterious. The whole game has a really nice, mysterious, creepy vibe where you're (at first) just trying to make sense of what is going on, what the cult of Los Illuminados really is, and so on. The gameplay was amazing, balanced, always fun, and pretty much influenced every single action game that came after it. Anyway, great show guys, I love it when you review whole series of games
It’s crazy how only 3 is missing on the PS4.
No more.
but its coming this April and its a remake, yeeehah !!!!!!
Now only 2 months away
RE1 was ground breaking and super fun. RE2 was epic, huge, and mind blowing. RE3 felt like, as you said, and add on to RE2, Code Veronica is one of my favorites - haven't played past that.
This is pretty similar to me too although I finally had chance to try out th Remake on PS4 of the GC title and have to say I was astoundingly impressed. I’m a fan of the flick screen approach.
RE Nemesis is my all time favorite re game, like the first 2, I lost count on how many times I played those non stop, the downside of RE nemesis, the moment that you enter a room and they was no background music, you knew that Nemesis was coming.
I also was not a fan of RE4 but, love playing RE5 with my brother, still remember the time when I was running for my life in circle from a Reaper while my brother was taking is sweet time to pick up all the items in the room instead of trying to save my life. lol
RE6 was a mess, it was like as if 3 teams worked on 3 different games and mix them together. but Leon scenario was quite enjoyable to play as it was going back with the zombies.
I still remember my cousin telling me about Resident Evil 4 every time we would see each other. Finally one day got to play the game on his Gamecube in 2004.
4 is not traditional resident evil, but at the same time, it's one of the greatest games of all time, so
Thanks for Resident Evil - Origins Collection. I did not know that this exist xD
Awesome video. You guys chemistry is top notch
You can go around the other side of the prison by pulling a lever and opening the door. Mr. X still comes down that hallway though.
I was hoping someone posted this.
Happy you guys mentioned resident evil one remake for the GameCube. One of my favorite video game experiences ever. I would geek out on the screenshots everyday for weeks before the release. The atmosphere and sound quality is right up there with the graphics. Comes in at number 10 on my all time favorite games list.
Thank u Rob someone who agrees with me resi 4 is not great at all pure action game not resi at all....how can anyone put this ahead of resi 2 is beyond me.
You guys are awesome, youre the type id love to have a few beers with while gaming.
Resident Evil on Gamecube is my favourite game of all time (followed by Williams Defender!)and I have been gaming forever.
You guys should give number 6 a shot. Leon's story has zombies and it has that all important Resident Evil vibe to it. Looking forward to a RE6 video in the future. I've been a huge fan since the first game come out when I was 11 and as an old school RE fan I have to admit I enjoyed Leon's story in number 6 because like I said it has zombies and there's a jump scare or two waiting for you
Hell yeah! Rob and John again got me excited! You guys rule!😁😁😁😁😁
Great discussion on a great franchise, i played all of them at release on the consoles they were first released on except RE6 which i have never touched,
The purchase of RE4 on the gamecube remains to be one of the best weekends of video gaming i ever had ….. bought it friday night with my mate and we sat there playing it untill Sunday night with no sleep, i cannot wait to play it again on the Switch soon :)
6 Is amazing. 4 stories to play very worth it. Huge improvement from 5
I've only just finished Leon's campaign in Resi 6 not played the other 2 stories yet, but I thought it was a lot of fun, if you guys are playing it together you're sure have a good time, especially with the over the top melee attacks, never gets old.
Resident Evil 6 might not be good horror game or even debatably a good resident evil game but Damn it's so much fun playing crazy action game like resident evil 6, i liked the differenr campaigns and set piece
Don't expect good resident evil, just expect a fun game frombRE6
In a way, zombified virus and parasites are both the same. Parasites in RE4 controlled the living. Zombified virus controlled the dead. I like the slight change of enemies. The zombies only spread went on in Raccoon City at the early stage of the series. RE4 is badass of a game.
Resident evil 7 was a Masterpiece
Great content you should have at least a million subscribers thumbs up people
0 and code Veronica X are two of my favorites lol
I've heard the argument before of "RE4 isn't real RE, because there's no zombies" (even though they're practically zombies and no one likes when franchises do the exact same thing every release), and to me that's like saying "Final Fantasy 7 isn't real Final Fantasy, because there's cars and guns. It should be medieval fantasy setting."
All the same, good discussion video. RE4 is just the GOAT.
Resident Evil taught me the value of multiple save files!
Never clicked a video so fast in my life.
