Happy Console Gamer has brought some much needed positive vibes in the retro gaming community, and was one of the earliest pioneers in the RUclips content creation space for video gaming content. Today on the newly updated edition of Select Screen, we see down with him to talk about his RUclips channel, being around the anime fandom from the 80's and more!

@@GameOnNetwork I am two years younger than Johnny and love the older game stuff, I like new games but I am very much still into the old systems. One of my favorite episodes is The Dreamcast Rocks video. I grew up from the old Atari 2600 and Dreamcast is for sure one of my all time favorite systems. Pretty jealous cause I'm sure game nights with Johnny and Rob would have been some great times. Take care guys.

Yup I met John in 2015 He is genuine and a great guy. He invited me to his house to drink a beer with him. Who does that? His video's are my weekly highlight and i Hope he will go on for years to come!
Yeah he seems like a grounded, extremely passionate and legit great guy. It broke my heart though when he completely trashed the Wii remote and nunchuck in that one video about game contorllers. XD I've been gaming since the late 80's and the Wii is actually one of my favourite consoles of all time just because it was reinventing the wheel and doing something different rather than being just another predictable traditional console. Plus the Virtual console was amazing. ;) But we all have our preferences! to each their own.
I could listen to Johnny talk nostalgic all day. Great interview!

Kudos to Johnny for still interacting with the community like this. He is probably one of the few big RUclipsrs who will take interview requests from small channels. He did an interview with me when I was just starting out and it meant a lot. Still one of my favorite memories from my time on RUclips.
John is the best and im happy he still does his show. Tells great stories and understands why nostalgia is so important.
Happy console gamer in my opinion is the top RUclipsr video game collector I enjoy his videos have been following him last 5 years or so. He's videos are fire cool to see him popping up on other channels !
HCG and Robman are the real deal, very passionate and best type of show. Very honest and brings in nostalgia. He also does have several anime episodes we need more.

Johnny’s channel is one of the first, if not the first, RUclips channel I subscribed to. HCG is my favorite channel and I always look forward to his videos. Definitely one of the most positive and wholesome channel out there 😊

Was one of the main reasons I wanted to get him on the show. To be honest we could have kept the recording going for another hour or so, but we were just short on time. Will have to come back to doing another recording at a later date for sure, and thank you for watching!

Dude it's so cool to hear how anime used to be . How it was like a underground handing out copied tapes . I was born in 93 so I grew up with the begining on toonami an the begining of Pokemon an DBZ dub in America like 2000. It still was not cool then but it would of been cool to be I those clubs an import games I never knew about all the Japanese exclusive games as a kid. Great interview!

Great interview. Johnny is honestly not only my favorite gaming related channel, but perhaps my favorite channel of all time. I’ve been subscribed to him for 12 years (spanning back to my older account) and I really appreciate how he has, for the most part, stayed true to his channel. While everyone is chasing the algorithm and the newest trend, Johnny has remained steadfast in front of his game shelf. It provides a certain level of comfort when he posts his newest videos and I wish him nothing but success for both RUclips and his personal life.

Johnny is an inspiration to me. I am younger than him but in many ways we treaded along the same roads in life at times. I have definitely taken some shortcuts and often gotten completely lost, but Johnny inspires me to hold onto my passions as I go on, and use them as an anchor when needed.

Oh he'd certainly be someone I wish I knew growing up.
Been a long time fan and for someone who is about to turn 40 this year,I am constantly inspired by Johnny to share my life long passion of video games and anime with others too. Growing up I didn't have people I could do that with outside of my brothers who are huge gamers too. I finally found my friends in high school that I could vibe with and also share that love of video games and video game music with and we still are friends to this day! Very happy to see this.

Would love to see more anime discussions by Johnny. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have gotten into Dirty Pair, Iczer One, Area 88, Macross, Gunbuster, and many more

Johnny Millennium is the best
When i was a kid DBZ was new in the US and my brother and his friends got ahold of the Tapes that had subtitles. I remember being in like the frieza saga and them bringing home majin buu tapes in the late 90s and having no idea what was going on lol. I made them read the subtitles to me because I couldn't keep up with the subs because I was about 6 or 7 lol.
