n_e_e_t I recently played Return of the King on GameCube. It’s rough, but for me it still kept its charm. The good thing about those games is that they only take a day to finish. So for a quick trip down memory lane the replay value is there
WHAT!!?? My friends and I looking back LOVE all that generations Lord of The Rings hack and slash's...legit that was a staple game for my friends and I in elementary school
When you guys started talking about selling your collections to get a system and a game, it struck a nerve. Back in 96 I sold my SNES and the 75 games I had for it in order to buy the N64 and Mario, while it was good I hated that system and regretted getting rid of SNES collection. In order to play one game.
I did the same thing! Biggest regret of my gaming life. I did enjoy the N64, but the two games I got for it at launch did not make up for the 40 SNES games I had to trade in. But they sold me on the marketing: "It's 64 Bits!!" And my immature brain thought: '64 is four times as much as 16, so it must be four times as good.'
Derek Padula Sorry lad more for what I did and I hoped no one else did. At least some can be recovered these day, by digital means, yet some are lost to the ages or eBay.
I enjoyed the N64 but man, the releases were slow as fuuuuu compared to the ps1. I was so jealous of the sheer amount of games in the play station section.
Johnny, I absolutely loved the Two Towers video game. Played it when I was 10 years old. I enjoyed it so much I did all the bonus content at the end of the game lol
Hey, I liked two towers. Return of the King was much better though. You get to play as gandald, the hobbitses, and the main three in aragorn, legolas and gimli.
I actually really enjoyed both the Two Towers and ROTK games on the PS2. Maybe I just have my nostalgia goggles on from when I was younger lol, but I definitely had a good time when it first came out.

When you beat the game you unlock one of my favorite modes and its Sauron's Tower, it's an endurance mode up Sauron's Tower fighting wave after wave of enemies picking up small items as you go and it gets harder and harder, if you make it to the top you fight Sauron apparently but I've never made it, fun two player co op

Once I beat that game, I thought "Well, I will never play this again," and immediately sold it or traded it in. It was a fine LOTR version of Final Fantasy X, but all the story beats were cliché and the characters were pretty shallow LOTR main storyline clones. The Balrog fight was amazing though, and still the only real fond memory I have of the game.

I had to have a go at Zillion 2 after hearing this. I actually acquired both Zillion games, gifts from a friend, in the late 1990s, but never put much time into them. First, I'll say it was probably the wrong choice to have one of those scrolling bike levels to be stage one. It's definitely tough at first, though easily exploitable. I can definitely see it being tougher for kids to figure out. As for the game, overall, it's okay. It's quite simple. And I can understand why it would be disappointing to those who liked the first Zillion. However, I can see how some people might have found the first Zillion to be too complicated, with all the symbols, searching, and ID card stuff. So I can see why Sega wanted to try something different as well. I am surprised to hear that Andrew hated the game almost right away. Back in those days, when getting games was somewhat rare, it was common to go back to playing after a poor first impression to find something fun in it, or to just adapt to what it requires. I've had plenty of occasions when I'd get games and would think it was not so good or too hard as a first impression, but going back to it later in the day or the next day provided a different experience. Then again, I definitely owned and rented games that I never liked, so that happens too.

All the LotR games of the PS2 era were amazing. Two Towers, Return of the King and Third Age. Plus if you played on PC you had Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2. Even Tactics was kinda fun. The only sucky one was the Fellowship of the Ring.
I finally beat my childhood favorite NES game a few days ago.. The Guardian Legend!!! Through the miracle of save-states i no longer have to deal with those over complex passwords that rarely ever seemed to work..lol
Thats one of my favourite games aswell to me its just as fun playing it now as back then, im so happy for you to beat it. Those damn over complex passwords was a curse back then hehe.
I just wanted to say that because of this video I sat down and tried playing Zillion II, I've had the game since 09 and never really gave it a chance. After a few hours with it I can say it's a pretty good game, I actually beat it, it's not a very long game only 8 stages long. You need to play it untill stage 5 at least, you can turn into a flying mecha kinda thing and the game has some cool shmup sections.
This is a great gaming channeling. Not just always negative and angry but................not just loving everything because you're supposed to. Just like news: we need things that just keep it down the middle.
The Return of the King game was awesome, and The Two Towers wasn't that bad...There are so many worse move tie-ins! But wow that story had me in tears 😂😂😂
The Zillion series has some of the best music of all time; Zillion 1 was epic and underated. So cool the Sega light phaser was modeled after the Zillion gun. Would love to see the series revitalized.
Just cleaned out a closet today and I found all of my old Sega Genesis stuff!! 1st edition console, 2 controllers, 32X adapter and 30 games!! It all still works!! eBay, here I come!! Maybe.....
I didn't own the two towers. But I had Return of the King on the PS2 and I always thought this game was awesome. I get nostalgic about how cool this game was! The combos, and upgrades, etc. Maybe it plays different (looks the same!) but I enjoyed it, personally. It's interesting to see a whole different take on this one.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete are infinitely better than the Sega CD versions. I feel bad that people were first introduced to the series by those versions of them, and possibly soured on ever giving any a shot again, since the remakes were drastically different experiences.

@@DRock7977 Hell yeah.. Especially trying to copy them from an old 13in crt tv. lol
'My Hero' on the SMS.
'Hyperlight Drifter'
'H1Z1'
'RE3'
'FF2'
'Castlevania 2'
hyperlight drifter?? thats probably one of my fave games lol
pez im going to give it another go but with a controller this time.
Was a fucking nightmare with mouse & keyboard
wow didn't expect LOTR on here!
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete for the PS is one of the greatest RPGs of all time! As with the sequel!
I died laughing about double Dragon because I was the exact same way! I realized that was the first time trolling was in my DNA lol!
I fixed the battery in my copy of Lagoon on SNES with paperclips and electrical tape, and I still feel like I put too much effort into it.
This is a great gaming channeling. Not just always negative and angry but................not just loving everything because you're supposed to. Just like news: we need things that just keep it down the middle.
Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia was thrown, plus the controller was smashed.
Tactics Ogre "We all Cling together?". Brutally hard and frustrating. Ironic because Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite games ever.
The Return of the King game was awesome, and The Two Towers wasn't that bad...There are so many worse move tie-ins!
But wow that story had me in tears 😂😂😂
Now I have to rethink every recommendation Johnny has ever given, LOL! ;)
best channel Holidays 2019
Once you read up about the cryptic puzzles, Simon’s Quest is a great game
The Zillion series has some of the best music of all time; Zillion 1 was epic and underated.
So cool the Sega light phaser was modeled after the Zillion gun.
Would love to see the series revitalized.
Just cleaned out a closet today and I found all of my old Sega Genesis stuff!! 1st edition console, 2 controllers, 32X adapter and 30 games!! It all still works!! eBay, here I come!! Maybe.....
Bro, I've been watching you for years! Let us know if you ever do a fan get-together in San Diego! I'll totally be there to meet ya!
My friends and I actually enjoyed Zillion back in the day.
I LOVED the two towers game back in the day
Seeing you guys sing "Worst game ever made" was cool.
Barry: Hello Johnny, Master of Knocking Off Ledges
Zillion had my laughing so hard. Games back then... you didn’t really know till you try.
Holy crap I can’t believe you were actually able to make this video because it seems like you love every single video game that has ever been made!
I've only ever played the remakes. Maybe that is why their experiences surprised me.
@@jboo8966 Same here. Me and my brother are actually currently playing through Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, and prior to that beat Silver Star Story Complete for like the sixth time. lol
ZILLLLLLIONNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! OMG. Thats the game i m looking for since...pfff 20 plus years...... Johnny thank you for this clip. I was looking for that game but didnt know its title.. its Zillion (first one). I have huge nostalgia for that one as i played it at my friends (like you i guess). I could have sworn it was a built in game on the Master System... Thats why i couldn't look and find it...
Lunar 2 has a cause for hatred, because of the magic point save system.
People who know will back me up.
Holy crap… The first thing I thought of after seeing that zillion game footage was, this looks like moon patrol for the 2600.
NES Back to the Future. I was a little kid obsessed with the movies at the time. I had to play the game, and I was too young to really know better right away. That game was a fantastic lesson in disappointment.
Such an amazing duet! When is the album coming out? ;)
I'm pretty sure that would be one of the signs of the apocalypse...
What a horrible night to have a curse. I played the Two Towers game back in the day and rather liked it then. Might be a different story today though.
Working at the Nintendo 1800 help number would of been such a cool fucking job
Brink remains my most hated game ever. It looks soooo cool leading up to it’s literally unplayable release.
I remember that shitshow lol. Angry Joe ripped that game a new one!
Wow as a kid I loved Two Towers on the PS2 lol
