With that comment that Johnny answered about him playing Video Games for the last 40 years, I would love if he started a series where he talked about each year from 81 til now of his memories of that year of games for him or with friends and family. What he picked up or was playing and or just kind of how that year was and what it meant to him. Would be really cool to see something like that.
Johnny, I’ve been a fan for basically a decade. Much much respect to you for continuing to put out content like you are. I know it’s not easy, and recognize the effort it takes. Also respect to your wife for always being so supportive and making appearances. I really really look forward to your videos, so I guess I just want to say “thank you.” You’ve restored my passion for gaming more than once. Hope you and everyone are doing okay!
Hey Johnny, I've been watching you since your Gears of War 2 Launch video 12 years ago. I'm 24 now... Very thankful for all the stories you've shared over the years and I'm very proud of you and glad to have been able to see how much your life has changed over the years! Here's to many more 🙏
Ah man, that's precious hearing the next stage in your lives being parents. Some of us have much to figure out about life but it's cool how you find priorities & balance still being individuals
I'm folding laundry listening to this. Ways to spend the time doing chores instead of gaming. Next up, dishes. After that, lunch and off to work. I know it's Sunday, but life goes on. I hardly have time to play games. I love Dan Brown, Michael Crichton, John Saul and Steven King. Sometime I read Tom Clancy. Presently reading IT. That's like a Bible.
To talk more about the question from sloth. I think that you being one of the first personalities that arose from the RUclips's gaming movement really helped, but at the end of the day what always kept me watching was the fact that you and your friends were the first generation of true gamers. Sure, you can talk about the Atari days and asteroid, but that was the advent of gaming as a whole. Precursor to what it actually became. You and your friends are that subset of gen X that helped bring anime over to Canada and the States. Popularized JRPG's and filled Arcades in the 80's. The way that you've told your stories has always felt like you guys were coming straight out of the Sega and Nintendo commercials. It was always interesting for me to hear that from a first person perspective in fine detail. As I was born the year that the Snes came out, and you and your friends really reminded me of my older cousins growing up that I looked up to. That alone was nostalgic for me. Your channel has always had substance over others, and I think that is worth noting. You should give yourself a little more credit. Because not only were you one of the first, but you were one of the guys that raised the bar on content.
Both of you looking very dapper in this episode. Johnny in a polo?! C'mon! Thanks for all the QnA time. I enjoyed watching ALL of it on the big screen and enjoying the stories and the behind the scenes!
Sorry for the late comment but Thank you very much for replying to my question I am also a big fan of City Hunter as well with all of it's 1980's charm it's in my top 5 for the best anime of that decade.
I love your anime episodes! You have such a fresh presentation with them, the same amazing energy you bring to the show all the time. Keep talking about the classics!
Wife and I had our baby last year just before Covid and have a similar outlook as you guys on spending time with her. One of us is always with her and we each just take an hour to do our own things we want to do.
I’m listening to this, vacuuming and I get to the part where you guys discussed how you share your hobbies. I stop, ask my wife what hobby she has that we should do together and she says “Read.” So…I’m reading Gone Girl now. Kinda excited. You guys are the best!
My lord you guys are the very definition of goals. Would give anything to find someone who shares so much of my interests to spend my life with. Love these vids
I second Kim's recommendation to read everything by Patrick Rothfuss, which is only three (2.5 really) books at this point. It is fantasy that invokes childlike wonder even for someone of our age.
Beautiful stuff! It's incredible watching and learning from your journeys and us contributing to it in our own small ways. So amazing to see how parts of life shared adds much to the lives of others.
I love AURORA too! She and her band are slowly but surely building a solid worldwide fanbase. Even on RUclips the reaction videos to her songs and music videos are becoming so numerous. Such a unique and captivating musician and singer in her performances and recordings.
I love how people think video games are just a thing someone will get tired of and be done with. My earliest gaming memory was playing Donkey Kong on the Atari 2600 back in 1984. I became obsessed with video games, with my obsession getting so much worse in 1987/1988, with the NES. I played games through my teen years with only a slight slowdown when I started having kids of my own. Looking back, games have always been a big part of my life. I can't imagine that ever changing.
5:25 If the guy really wanted to challenge Johnny he should've asked him "what is your favorite King of Fighters game?". He would be there for 10 minutes just going through them all. 32:18 Kim is saying "of course! Mario!" but deep down she is really saying "PERSONA SERIES! ALL OF THEM!"
I guess I'm in the minority for wanting Johnny to talk about old anime so I do just want to thank him for getting me on to Dirty Pair, Area 88, Gunbuster (my favorite OVA series ever), Bubblegum Crisis, etc etc...
Love Johnny’s channel and the evolution of it with Kim and baby. They deserve way more subscribers than they have. You know you can always expect positivity from his channel!
I have a scrap of paper where I have written down every anime you have ever mentioned on the show. I've watched Otaku No Video because your story. One anime off the top of my head that you told me about that I really got to watch, if it's the only one I'll get to, I know has got to be Galaxy Express. Found you 2014 in a bad, lonely time where I was a vegetable, but watched all your stuff and been keeping up with it. You tell me about Phantasy Star, so bought 2-4 on Steam, and bunch of other games, Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage. Loved 2, and even though I completely messed up and forgot to get Rudo right away, I almost feel like using only Nei the first half the game made the middle twist so much more impactful for me. (My brother started the video games in our house, on Genesis, got Sonic 2, Columns and Primal Rage, but skipped then right to FF8 on PS1, then from there, rpg maniac, even got into Dragon Warrior II, loved your story about skipping school for it). You tell me about Ys, so went on Steam and got Ys 1+2, Oath in Felghana, and Origins. Love it, runs like butter on my crap computer, and it's Ys. The temple of Salmon and Noltia music, absolutely amazing, love the shop music Syonin, too. (Also, you mentioned hating V, and I loved your story back in that one video, such a classic , relatable moment, wanted to play it so bad, played in Japanese, and couldn't get past the stupid lady, oh man so great, makes me laugh. Also found out oddly that Ys is actually a myth of an island off the coast of France where the princess was evil and got the island cursed and got it sunk). Then, you tell me about people like Victor Lucas and your Film Fury with him, and Gamesack and Ircha and GameDave, and I watch all their stuff. Thanks, John, for the good recommendations all around over the past 8 years. I got to see the movie as soon as I found the channel, really could tell it was a labor of love, and you tried to have fun with it and you try to be humble about it, and the whole show. God bless you and your family. As soon as I returned to college that year in 2014, I met a woman, and she made me realize a lot of things about life. She's long gone now, of course, but really made me think of how important it is to keep family going, and how it really is all one truly has. Uncertain times, sure, but wishing you all the best.
Yo you're 47. Whoa, I thought you were in 30s or 20s - growing up and watching your classic videos back in the golden era of RUclips. Especially since you have an amazing game collection along an awesome personality ! Keep doing what you love man!
I hear you Johnny Hey Bear is a life saver with my one year old. I was born in 1987 so I was near the start of gaming I agree its great and important to have people on RUclips who have seen the start of gaming that perspective is priceless.
my son if 4 now and he love mario odyssey and minecraft, on rainy/snowy days we sit back and game togeather its awesome. that being said you will most likely find more time to game and do it with the family as your little girl gets older, enjoy johnny!!
Love these videos! You are correct it’s so hard to get known in this industry. I have a phenomenal idea that is something no one else has done. I just need a few content creators to make it happen but I hope to make it happen soon! Maybe you and Kim will end up being involved who knows! 😁 great video, great channel, amazing people
Something my wife and I do to balance the relationship and hobbies is we do “hobby time”. Sometimes we’ll play a game together, I’ll play a game and she’ll read, she’ll watch one of her shows and I’ll play switch. That way we’re spending time together but still getting to do our hobbies.
This was such a treat to listen to, honestly. It sounds cheesy, but I found the channel sometime in 2011-2012 when I was 11 or 12, and I grew up watching your guys' videos off and it has really become a comforting thing for me. Thank you guys for doing all that you do on RUclips and for continuing on. Sending well-wishes from down south in Alabama! p.s., if I would have caught the Q&A posts in time, I probably would have asked some things like "How are things with the two of you and AlphaOmegaSin," and "Has Rob ever gotten the chance to make friends with Alpha?"
Love the video. I very rarely watch YT videos this long (attention span) but I watched this and it didn't feel like 55 minutes! Hopefully we don't have to wait another 5 years for the 3rd Q&A, haha.
Thanks guys for doing this! I just have to mention! I Always say the exact same when I'm getting asked about how it was becoming a parent. it literally is like a secret society!
I wanna thank you guys for mentioning Aurora ;D i had no idea who she was until this video and i have been listening to her music none stop on the way to work ever since! cant wait to see her live here now in Feb!
I'm all for you talking anime on this channel. It's how I got introduced to a lot of old 80s or 90s anime that I adore now like Bubblegum Crisis. So, I'm all for anime videos as I think it's just as fitting for this kind of channel.
Thanks team, you rock! My favourite chill out vinyl is Donovan from the 60's and 70's. I would love you to do a video on your video game t-shirts and old retro game magazines. B52's is best for dancing :P
I love the music in the background! ..I was a little sad to hear you say you won't make any more anime episodes. A lot of rpgs you talk about I've played or heard about before but there are lots of amazing animes I would not have watched if I hadn't seen them talked about on your show! I personally would love to see more anime episodes and more artbook/magazine/music episodes!
I have a book recommendation for Kim. The Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. It's a phenomenal series composed of 3 trilogies and one quartet. I love the fact that it's character driven and the complexities of the relationships in the series is just superb, no other author has ever made me feel like a character is more than just a character but truly human. When Kim said the baby was getting into video game music, all I could think of was asking my son if he wanted to listen to music and him excitedly saying "play Mega Man daddy, play Mega Man!!!".
Loved watching this, definitely my two favourite people on RUclips, such nice genuine people and a lovely couple! Definitely think they should let Johnny be in charge of a Phantasy Star remake!! No better man for the job! Keep up the amazing work
Love the hour long format :D Keep up the good work Johnny & Kim! Too late for this one, but question with storage - how do you fit the new things you get? I'm constantly re-shuffling bookcases and then resorting to stacking games/movies on the floor under and beside my desk.... Teach me your ways oh wise one.
I am so sad i missed the q and a prompt. I'm also bummed John doesn't feel comfortable gushing about anime on the show, he's the single reason I've watched several old school animes. These Sunday videos are always a comfort as i watch them at the end of my weekend shifts which is usually about 30 to 35 hours between just Fri sat and sun.
Love the video! Name of the wind is dope and would love to hear more anime stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen or what you guys think of the upcoming chainsaw man!
I've never been into anime other than Miyazaki and I started watching your channel for the games. So I wasn't really into those segments on animie or soundtracks. But after watching for so long I started slowly getting interested due to your passion for them. I've even bought several such as Cowboy Beebop and Ghost in tbe Shell. So I'd say keep going with them as you are introducing others into niche hobbies they would have never tried before.
Really cute for you guys and congrats with thr baby. My wife and I met in gaming (FFXIV to be specific) and we still play games from everyday. I see ourselves with the both of you. Very entertaining and cute!
Really unfortunate that we won't be getting much in terms of anime episodes. I think hearing your thoughts about anime and your experiences with it is very inspiring to someone like me who is only 25 and has a big passion for a lot of the older series.
So I saw through the 10 year one with Gamester81 and the first part 1 of this. And can't wait for more.... *KIM, THE LOVE DOCTOR!* ...and oh yeah Johnny!
Thanks for showing that you can play games and live normal lives. People think that you have a problem if you play games. Appreciate the video u 2. I play on easy for times sake.
That's a great idea.
Like last gamer did

This question is for Kim. My wife is loving your shirt and wants to know where you got it?! Thanks for the content guys, favorite gaming couple ❤️!
Kim is very pretty!
Ah man, that's precious hearing the next stage in your lives being parents. Some of us have much to figure out about life but it's cool how you find priorities & balance still being individuals

Dude love both of your vibes, your channel is pure pleasure, keep it up, you brighten many people's days. You guys are really cute together!
A full hour Q&A? Yes! Watching this while doing some grinding and drinking a beer, perfect afternoon
Hell yeah
I was thinking of grabbing some beer for the occasion too lol
To talk more about the question from sloth.

I love that Johnny displayed Phantasy Star 2 then Tales of Arise when he was describing how his view on video games has changed over the years.
Sorry for the late comment but Thank you very much for replying to my question I am also a big fan of City Hunter as well with all of it's 1980's charm it's in my top 5 for the best anime of that decade.
55 minute video.. god damn let's get the popcorn ready and a beer cracked - cheers johnny and kim :))
I've been watching this show for probably 6 years n it is always growing and bringing more to the table. Get it??
I love your anime episodes! You have such a fresh presentation with them, the same amazing energy you bring to the show all the time. Keep talking about the classics!
Wife and I had our baby last year just before Covid and have a similar outlook as you guys on spending time with her. One of us is always with her and we each just take an hour to do our own things we want to do.
You two are so wholesome, and in a world like this that is a truly wonderful thing
Woah an hour long q&a episode man thanks for still doing videos after all of these years and good having a more ten years on RUclips.
Thanks Johnny for answer my question at the 8:49 ,love you both.
Great to see another one! Can’t believe it’s been five years
You guys are a huge inspiration for me. Johnny I really look up to you man keep up the great work, you have a fantastic show!
Just found your channel, I’m of your age and started gaming around 1980. So nice to see a really happy enthusiastic couple! Keep up the great work! ❤
I really enjoyed this episode! This was really fun to watch!

Hearing the Ys music makes me 😁😁 that sunshine coast theme is amazing

Great video guys, happy to see that you are all doing well.
Got to say, love your show!! You are so dead on about games. Wishing you and yours the best. Take care, and can't wait to see more. 👍
I hear you Johnny Hey Bear is a life saver with my one year old. I was born in 1987 so I was near the start of gaming I agree its great and important to have people on RUclips who have seen the start of gaming that perspective is priceless.

Johnny's is the only channel where I always like the video before I even watch it.

I'm all for you talking anime on this channel. It's how I got introduced to a lot of old 80s or 90s anime that I adore now like Bubblegum Crisis. So, I'm all for anime videos as I think it's just as fitting for this kind of channel.
Totally taken back by you mentioning U2 The Joshua Tree, great taste and absolutely a perfect album big thumbs up
I love finding out things in common w/ my favorite content creators (in this case, our mutual love for The Joshua Tree)
Aurora is an amazing artist. Hope I can see her live someday.
I love you guys ❤️ ❤️
Thanks team, you rock! My favourite chill out vinyl is Donovan from the 60's and 70's. I would love you to do a video on your video game t-shirts and old retro game magazines. B52's is best for dancing :P
I love the music in the background! ..I was a little sad to hear you say you won't make any more anime episodes. A lot of rpgs you talk about I've played or heard about before but there are lots of amazing animes I would not have watched if I hadn't seen them talked about on your show! I personally would love to see more anime episodes and more artbook/magazine/music episodes!
Would love to hear your thoughts on older anime! I find older anime and how it was like to be an anime fan before it was “cool” fascinating
Thanks for answering my question guys!
Do more shows with Kim she's very happy and perky. You two are very entertaining to watch.
Fun episode guys, thanks for answering my question!
Love this video! Nice to always learn more about you guys!! Cheers!
And her prose is just exquisite, truly remarkable. Definitely recommend 👌
Thanks for the really fun video!
Keep up the amazing work
Kim should start with Xenogears! See the start of the series
^
Yes and xenosaga
Love this channel everytime i wanna listen to something fun and laugh like im there i come here
Love the hour long format :D Keep up the good work Johnny & Kim! Too late for this one, but question with storage - how do you fit the new things you get? I'm constantly re-shuffling bookcases and then resorting to stacking games/movies on the floor under and beside my desk....
Teach me your ways oh wise one.
these people warm my cold, cold heart
A really great video thanks, I need to find the Q&A from 5 years ago now :)
thanks for answering my question! I'd also love to see you talk about anime more
I am so sad i missed the q and a prompt. I'm also bummed John doesn't feel comfortable gushing about anime on the show, he's the single reason I've watched several old school animes. These Sunday videos are always a comfort as i watch them at the end of my weekend shifts which is usually about 30 to 35 hours between just Fri sat and sun.
Always love all your content. Hope all is well!
We love you guys, stay blessed
Yeah! Shout out to Sphere Johnny! I read it in one day too, just couldn't stop...
Awesome episode once again guys! Cowboy Bebop live action adaptation coming to Netflix November 19th
Love the video! Name of the wind is dope and would love to hear more anime stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen or what you guys think of the upcoming chainsaw man!
We need more of your content, and more Kim/couples content. As a Sunday tradition, your videos are better than church. Lol.
Very VERY glad Kim brought up Name of the Wind. And as her #2 choice too. It's really really good.
I've never been into anime other than Miyazaki and I started watching your channel for the games. So I wasn't really into those segments on animie or soundtracks. So I'd say keep going with them as you are introducing others into niche hobbies they would have never tried before.
The shirts are part of the collection.
Love your content! Look forward to your videos.
I’m still of the opinion that Johnny jumped just as much as Kim in that layers of fear video
You gave me a good laugh, just now. 😂
