Ahh, two dudes chilling and talking about Final Fantasy. This is the content I like seeing on my RUclipss. 👍
Plot twist: Johnny erased Andrew's memory card for FFVII.
That's like the evilest thing ever
I legit lost a friend that way lol. Son of a bitch erased my Ocarina of Time save file because he thought it would be funny. I had just gotten to the shadow temple too. I instantly kicked him out and we never spoke again 😂
He was an asshole back in the day so 🤷♀️
Bet he laughed like Kefka too..-_-
And in retaliation Andrew swiped Johnny’s Paper Mario disc.
Love how his friend's wearing a Chrono Trigger shirt
Im glad im not the only one that noticed that!!
It's not chrono trigger the character is wielding a hammer ffs
@@onthedge1024 you're high lol
Phil M lmao 🤣
Apologies for replying to a year old message, but are you thinking Frog in the background is a hammer Crono is wielding, Justin? I suppose I can see the confusion.
42 years old here played all of them from start to finish from 1990 on final fantasy 12 and 3 will always hold a special place in my heart especially final fantasy 2 because that's the one that summons started Love final fantasy 2 which is actually final fantasy 4 Also still have every copy of every final fantasy game as I bought them all as they came out I feel so lucky that I was born in the eighties
Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite of the series. It had it's issues (I do hate drawing magic as much as the next guy) but I enjoyed the story and the characters.
VIII is underrated. I think when it came out, I was too young to grasp it's nuances
Just got it today! Hype!
It’s my favorite by a mile.
VIII has got to be my favorite or tied just by a fraction with VII. From the music to the story, an some of the most rememberable characters ever.
Oh man, watching that FFIII intro gave me goose bumps. I felt so hype when I was watching that screen. i need to play it again. That was my first FF game.
Final Fantasy VII is what I consider the best game of all time, and it was the first Final Fantasy I played! The second best is Final Fantasy IX, and third is Final Fantasy VI. These are my top 3!
Ff7 is the best. Don't let the guy above me tell you otherwise.
sloth what this guy said
Sigh that’s what they always say
People who play certain games first
“Persona 5 is the best game ever!!” 🙄
Great to see Andrew again, can't wait for more videos with Andrew :)
24:17 you got your wish, buddy
I know so stoked!
Loved this video. Reminded me of my gaming memories with my cousins. Final Fantasy VI was spectacular, still is. The walk to Narshe scene is still one of the most beautifully choreographed video game scenes ever and I recently had the chance to relive that again in I am Setsuna! Thanks!
Your story about the girl pestering you while playing FF8 had me LMAOing!
That always makes me laugh
You’re grammar is goodest
Cypress Mckendrick ok grammar police 🚨
Some guys wish they had that problem.
@@Cypress1600 there's actually no grammatical errors in what he said
I laminated my FF1 map/bestiary in contact paper so I could roll it up and store it repeatedly. Played every single session with my laminated map on the side
People that never finished XII are really missing out! What a game!
+Yuuva Vaan was nice to look at too.
I totally agree. I really hope the rumors of a ps4 remake are true.
+Ponaru you do realize SE is working on FFXV (basically complete), FFVIIR and KH3 right?
+Matt Dunn Uh...yeah. They are also supposedly working on a FFXII remaster...
+Ponaru sorry to say but I've heard nothing of the sort. Probably just a rumor for now.
Final Fantasy 12 is fucking brilliant.
It's amazing how my journey with Final Fantasy resembles yours. I'm from Canada too and started at the Nes with the very first and progressing to 9th.
I still think the music in Final Fantasy 6 is the best music in any Final Fantasy game ever made.
+darkman4811 terra's theme and the battle music are great
And don't forget dancing mad tier 4.
mitsuda himself said 9 is his best work
darkman4811 Be quiet boy
@@ElBribri I FORGOT Mitsuda did FF9 instead of Nobuo Uematsu. ^_^
9 and 6 are my favs, but honestly i enjoyed all of them even the 13 trilogy when i accepted its faults and just played them for what they were .
13 trilogy combat was alright you could tell they were trying something new and trying to make the games unique and not stale and some of characters were meh but I loved the world and those games... idk if you just ignore the fualts you get some pretty good rpgs
So true. At the time I didn't have a ps3 so knowing I could play FF on my xbox was incredible.
And the game is nowhere near the best but it is certainly not the worst. It has its good moments still
Great video. love listening to your stories of when you were younger. I was like you, a friend of mine always had these games before me so I had to go to his to play them
That was me with my friends Master System and first 2 Sonic games on Mega Drive
I love this channel. I keep finding older vids like those after so long.
Recently found this channel and it is great. Just a guy with love for videogames who talks about what he loves and the cool stories that go along with it. Keep up the good work man! Love it :)
9 is fire
Final Fantasy 9 is so damn great.
My Favourite game ever
It is. One of the best of the series. If not, the best.
Me too! 9 is my 7. Most cats actually prefer 9 and 10 over 6 and 7.
Gatsby Catsby over 6?!
I only recently found this channel, and it's a refreshing change from what I'm used to in my gaming videos. I love how you share personal stories from your experiences.
My personal favorite is ff 4. It's the game that sucked me in to rpgs, and showed me the beginnings of what storytelling in games would eventually become.
I remember first seeing Final Fantasy 2/4 when my sister played it for the first time. I was so moved and entranced by it and she would tell me what was going on at the point of the story. I finally got to play it myself about 5 years later and it was just as good as I remember it.
Final Fantasy 4 has since remained my favorite FF game to this day.
My favorites are Final Fantasy Tactics, V-IX, and XII.
FF9 is polygonal like 7 and 8 and onward.
yeah what is that guy talking about
You and Andrew's nostalgia is so on point! You guys describe it exactly as it was.
On point with the combat commentary.
The very last sentence is awesome... "video game comfort food". Perfect. Great episode, I've been meaning to go back and play a bunch of these titles!
My Top 3 Favorite games in the main series (I have played all of them)
3rd - FF 7
2nd - FF 5
1st - FF 9
FF 9 is bae
A fellow 5 fan ... 7 is my fav for sure however 5 is also one of my fav. Idk if i pick it over 6 but its up there ... Idk the game, the characters, the humor it just clicked.5 doesnt get much love.
could we sort of the series up a little
1-3 the dawn
4-6 the evolution
7-10 the new generation
11- 15 the era of separate paths
My top 3:
1st: VI
2nd: VII
3rd: X
~~~~
The original and second one (IV in Japan) also have fond memories for me. I enjoyed the first parts of VIII and IX but never beat them and am only now getting back into them. The rest of the FF games were meh to me after X. If VI had a proper grown up remake like they're doing to VII, I bet more people would see why it's the best.
Cool. My top 3 Final Fantasy games are...
1. 9
2. 6
3. 7
Honorable mentions: 4, 5, 12 & 14: An Realm Reborn.
The original Final Fantasy on the NES was the first console game that pulled me away from my computer, and I've loved the series ever since. FFIX will always be my favorite. In fact it's my #3 game of all time to this day. Awesome video, guys.
10:55 Intangr grinding for magic points on triangle island? I remember that too.
I just completed Final Fantasy III this morning, it was absolutely amazing! :)
My favorites are VI, VII and Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube ;)
You should make a follow up video talking about II, III, V, and X-2
damn it man this episode just made me remember my old neighborhood friends back in the early 2000s... I wish you all the best for giving me the nostalgia trip outta this episode
great video guys. so many memories with this series.
FFXII talk kills me because all the bad things that people say about it and why they didn't like it are almost always the reasons why I love that game. I loved finding and buying the gambits and setting them to automatically do the actions so I could focus more on the strategy while not having to pay attention to some of the smaller things. I can't wait for the remake. And I'm still hoping for someone to put the FFIX that went to mobile phones to be put on a disk.
Some great soundtracks.
I really liked the gambit system in FF 12. It felt like you were a general planning strategy for your troops. Setting good gambits that would meet any situation during a boss fight was very satisfying if you pulled it off without error.
Awesome! I'm glad to hear other old timers like myself who started out with the first one. Anytime I try to talk Final Fantasy with other fans, I can only go back as far as VII...maybe the Super Nintendo era if I'm lucky. Also..Final Fantasy 1 for its time was like Skyrim for me, I got the Nintendo Players guide and was just blown away at how big the world was, all the enemies listed, the maps, items, weapons, etc.
Just recently played through FF5 and absolutely loved it. FF Tactics is still my favorite though.
Gambit system in 12 is great after you get used to it. Totally removes twitch reaction, and becomes about out thinking battles. Minor tweaks like setting healing at 30% instead of 20% can be the difference in a boss fight. So gratifying to crush something that was difficult without grinding levels. Very misunderstood game frequently because people seem to forget that you don't need to stand still. Hit something, run, and watch as party rains on enemy while it chases. Need to use brain.
Basically removes any excitement from combat. Makes it feel like a lame mmo clicker
this might be my favorite video on the channel, having followed this channel since 2014-ish
My brother and I had the same experience with memory card around that age. I will say, I've since found that There's a "hidden command"(bug maybe?) on the old ps that allowed you to delete memory card in one go.
In the case of not performing that- Holding the button that switches the "card#" can also format it for some of those products.
My favourite is VI. My second favourite varies between IX (a nice, fun little game) and XII. I don't get all the hate that XII gets honestly, VIII was a genuinely divise game since it parted so much foundationally from the main series, but XII is just a fantastic experience. Not only is it wonderfully written, the art work is gorgeous,, architecture was awe inspiring, the cast of characters is probably the best in the franchise, voice acting is amazing, the graphics were stellar and exploration was fun and rewarding. My only problem with the game is that it's too grindy and that commands made your companions way too robotic (I understand that it was a preferable alternative to sub par AI, though). Worst FF so far is probably XIII, the most overrated is obviously VII and VIII is the most underrated FF.
FF3, FF7, and FF6. My top 3.
FF3 is amazing and I discovered it as a kid via emulation. It was the first Japanese exclusive RPG I had ever played through completely, and luckily I chose probably the best one on the NES. The remake is alright and accessible for people today, but I will always cherish and love the Famicom version. Such a damn good game.
FF7 is an addicting game for me. I cannot stop playing it once I start because I am just overwhelmed by it's polish. It's truly a very complete package that is just engaging from start to finish. I used to play the contrarian to that mindset, but as I grew older I really grew a huge appreciation for just how much effort was put into this game. I hope the remake proves to be just as amazing.
FF6 is probably the first Final Fantasy I can remember; either this or FF4. It was definitely my favorite for a very long time, and for good reason. This game is amazing, but it is flawed. It is way too easy for me. I know that this is coming from someone who was played the game multiple times, but even a beginner would realize just how OP magic is. The fact that almost every character can learn magic just breaks the unique nature of some of the characters, like Terra and Celes. The story is less centered on a sole character and more on the myriad of 14 characters you control, and that shows it's problems in the second act of the game. Aside from those gripes it is an amazing experience, and one that I can go back to whenever and have an amazing time, especially with the smorgasbord of improvement hacks out there.
I will admit that Square-Enix, Final Fantasy, and I have not seen eye to eye in recent (roughly 15) years. I do not know if I hold hope for the franchise to actually get an upswing and start improving it's image with QUALITY games (snort Lighting returns to electric boogaloo 2) as the industry continues it's down spiral to business obsession and high budget AAA games. I will also admit that my true love has never been for the Final Fantasy franchise, but for the myriad of side RPGs Square has made like the Chrono games and the Mana series. Final Fantasy will always be here though as long as Square-Enix exists, so maybe they can finally wow me with an amazing game.
Oh and Final Fantasy XV on PC. Get on that Squeenix.
Shadow from FF VI. Yet another great character in a game chock full of them. If you didn't wait for him on the floating island you couldn't even keep him in your party. Basically making him an optional character that would probably be considered DLC in modern gaming. His theme song was amazing alone, and his connection to other characters in the game's story was well developed.
I couldn't help but tear up watching this episode. As Andrew said, this series has and always will be comfort gaming for me. Some of the titles have helped me get through particularly hard times and it's those entries (12+13 funnily enough) that I remember most fondly. Thanks for sharing your experiences guys!
+maxlvl99 It's remarkable how games can become so deeply associated with certain periods of our lives. Especially a series as long-running as FF, where the games are like clear signposts in our past travels - and travails.
The FF6/3 opening I talked about in the episode will forever bring back memories of having moved away that summer to start university and the next major chapter of my life...
My favorite final has to be either 4 or 6 there both great and both soundtracks are amazing
A remastered version of XII you say...
Wonderful video and wonderful memories! Sadly, I can't relate to them on a personal level cause I didn't grow up with Final Fantasy. As a kid, I was a PC gamer, so RPGs I played the most were those with more western aesthetic, like Baldur's Gate or Diablo. For a couple of years though I have really gotten into retro console gaming and discovered for myself a whole bunch of interesting and unique jRPGs and became hooked right away. So far I have beaten two parts of the Final Fantasy series: VI and VII. Both are terrific and hold up well, at least for me. Soon I'm gonna start playing IX and then a lot of others - I hope great - jRPGs. My list of games-to-play is getting longer and longer but i don't mind :) So thanks for your videos, Johnny! You and some other RUclips retrogaming enthusiasts are good advisors when it comes to my gaming pick ups :)
I love when you said I almost fucking exploded lol
My favorite are 9,2,6,7, and x because it was my first rpg.
vanish + doom
vanish + X-zone
That Toys R Us in Reno is still there. Dad bought our Genesis and a number of games for it there, I bought my copy of the original "Kingdom Hearts" there in 2003, and then went there for some Pokemon download events during college. I'm gonna be heading back home to northern Nevada for my high school reunion in a couple months, maybe I'll stop by.
+TBustah That's cool! haha a religious spot for some of us now!
nice im from reno also currently still living there UNR student, but anyways yeah i can remember buying super mario rpg for snes when i was like 8 there. good times good times
I've just recently found this guy. Im a long time fan of avgn and mike matei. Anyways, glad I finally checked this guy out. His enthusiasm is great. I'm getting hyped watching these two talk about final fantasy.
I am one of those fans who LOVES final fantasy 8
I love it too!
I still don't know how to pull off AuraBolt in FFVI. I didn't like FF12, for the story but also because it felt more like a FF Tactics game being set in Ivalice than an FF. Also never even tried XI, it should have been "Final Fantasy Online" instead imo
I don't agree with your assessment of XII... its literally NOTHING like tactics which leads me to believe you've NEVER even played it. Don't listen to all the negative talk. 12 is the best of the series, and I've played EVERY final fantasy games (yes even the fighting game)
I can remember my first time playing FF8 watching the opening video sequence and having tears roll down my cheeks. I don't think I even blinked once!
This is like a Happy Place on RUclips. I love these videos!
Im curious to hear your take on FFXV. Personally I'm not a fan, but I appreciate what it was trying to do.
Played 7,8,9,10, and 12. All of them are great and I can't wait for 15!
+Ex Team Rocket Grunt story ... i think 10 is the best, but i love the 12 gameplay the most, i wish more game play like that, gambit just make life easier, i practically win against yazmat after 4+hour of non stop fight without even touching my stick
Roma X 10 is my favorite as well.
I've been doing this Marathon-thing where I play through each Final Fantasy-game in order of release. I never really played more than 5 hours into any of them, except for 12 that I got maybe a third of the way through because I particularly loved it.
Now, I've played all of 1-9 and currently working on 10.
So far, I love every single one of the games and I can't wait to get back into FF12 again.
I too am a canadian who bought the original final fantasy in the US. It had just come out in Seattle. It was torture having this amazing game and not being able to play it for another two weeks.
When they started talking about Final Fantasy 2 I was like wait a minute... Ohhhh, American Final Fantasy 2 >.> So Final Fantasy 4, lol
+ChaoticDeluge99999 Actually i believe 1 and 2 were the right numbers then they didn't release 3, 4 and 5 in north america but released 6 which they called 3. If you look at the graphics of 1 and 2 they're similar then there is a huge jump in "3".
AscendentGaming
Sorry, can't remember much about the video, I'll say you're right since you watched it more recently though :)
It's crazy you posted this. I've been playing FF8 for a couple of weeks now and I just go to the second disc (I can only play once in awhile because of work and life). I will forever love FF8. It is easily my favorite. I know, the Junction system is broken, whatever. But The animations, the summons, the story. It's just so good. I'm going to go play now.
+kefkahkefkah Yeah, no doubt. the graphics and animations are great, even by today's standards, but waiting forever for the animation to finish is a drag. But, when you get the Boost ability you can make use of that time, so it serves a purpose. They're useful when you have 4 monsters in front of you, all weak to the same thing, and you got shit to do. Just throw out a GF of that type and send a couple texts lol
My favorite Final Fantasy game will always be VIII. It's the first one I really played and got into regardless of it's flaws it's just incredibly nostalgic to me. I also really love 5 and 6
There's so many great RPG's out there that I wish would continue making games of like Final Fantasy does and the way Zelda keeps popping out new titles of. Phantasy Star, Y's, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger & so many more. Their games that I wish would just continue onto the new consoles wether it be a remake with the new graphics or a new story line. Anything would be amazing to see.
Final Fantasy jumped the shark with part VII. It was the last FF game I played all the way through and it was a chore by the time I got to the third disk. I tried to get into 8 and 9 but it was over.
yes i agree, this game is real garbage nowadays..too bad
OMG I bought FFXII and Dragon Quest VIII in the same month and I spend like 200hrs in each one of them. FFXII is the biggest FF of all. In that day I didn't know the MOMRPG's but this days I look back and definitely is like a MOMRPG, but for me the story and some characters like Balthier, Basch, Ashe and Gabranth are soo good.
+diegomireles
XII is seriously ultra-good. I had a very good time with it. Although it played somewat automatically through the gambits, it is in my opinion still the very best and ultimate mixup between turn based and live action battles.
Its heartbreaking to see this mode never getting used agai
You got a new fan! I'm a Canadian retro gamer and also played FF1 when it came out from seeing the cover on a Consumer's Distributing catalog lol.
9 and 12 are my faves from the series.
FFXV got a release date already: September 30.
+Atticus Weiss I know I filmed this last week before the conference
cakershake
haha you noticed!
+HappyConsoleGamer FFXII is fantastic.
+Atticus Weiss I am upset at the no PC release :/ I mean come on, they're using the most advanced game engine and the PS4 struggles to render it with lowered textures at 30fps... :(
FF I was my first FF game too. Played every FF game since but these are my favorites.
FF VI
FF IV
FF VII
FF VIII
FF X
FF I
I love how Lords Of Thunder Is In The Background. It Just reminded me to go listen to the podcast.
Thanks! Such game talks are my favorite videos
i love ff8
Do yourselves a favor and play FF12. Do it! Don''t make me have to pull out a Shia Labeouf video on you.
Great episode! Going down as one of my favorites! Brought back so much nostalgia talking about the whole series :) to be honest I love 1-12. I know that may seem to be a cheap answer, but that's honestly how feel at this point. Tho V,VIII,tactics,and XII standout to me because I've always adored the ff games that feature high levels of character customization
On a mission to play through all the games you see on that table!
Squaresoft games were TERRIBLE with all 3rd party memory cards. I remember on both final fantasy 7 & 8, I got 'File is Ruined' messages when using them - worst thing ever!
+attichris I agree, it was the first game that made me realize the difference between first and third party products and steered me away from third party stuff after that.
My thoughts on XV:
It feels like they're trying too hard to create a game that is going to appeal to as many people as possible in the west. However, most 12-year-olds these days have never even heard of Final Fantasy, and most adult gamers don't play Final Fantasy simply because they are just not interested, either because they don't like RPGs, they're turned off from the art style, or they've grown jaded to the series. Meanwhile, however, they are also alienating those of us who just want a true-to-form Final Fantasy game. We've been waiting 15 years for something in the veins of IX, and if we're going to have to wait a more than half decade in between major releases with 10-year development times, then it's a huge disservice to us, the fans of the first 9 games (well, okay, 7 of the first 9 games, in my case).
We have witnessed creative decisions that are flat-out superfluous. Remember Stella? Remember the concept that Stella is a star and Noctis is the night? So they scrapped Stella and replaced her with...Luna...meaning "moon". So why exactly did they need to create a completely new character based around the same exact symbolism and analog? They couldn't just re-purpose Stella? Just seems like a waste of time if you ask me.
And finally, after what I've seen in the demos, I'm not a fan of the combat. It feels like it's trying too hard to be bigger and better than Kingdom Hearts and failing to do so. It feels like it's going to involve a lot of dodging, defending, and strategy, but I seriously have to wonder how well this is going to go down in the final game if I don't exactly have an easy way of defending, and the dodge roll system is almost useless. I mean seriously. Dark Souls, Lords of the Fallen, and even the aforementioned Kingdom Hearts, by the same studio no less, all have functional and logical dodge systems. I'm seriously worried that battles are going to be a total slog with this one, and if this turns out to be an action RPG where you need to grind and over-level yourself just to be able to match the current combat needs, I'll probably quit the game halfway through and it'll be the first time I've ever done that with a Final Fantasy game.
I totally agree with you friend. If you're interested in an old school FF experience, you should give Bravely Default a look. Playing BD gave me exactly what I wanted from FF since XII. (XII was the last FF I loved)
+DerAlmighty Kids today dont care at all for FF because we havent seen a good game since FFX, FF9 and 7 were brilliant who doesnt love Vivi for ex best character ever.
So this new generation can only get excited if they are offered something different like we where back in the day.
If theyre gonna go on this track to just become a fighting game with basically no character development theyre gonna compete with Skyrim,Fallout,HalfLife,Doom basically other kinds of fighter games theyre gonna loose just like they lost the last 10-15 years.
They need to go the more adventure type magical characters and enviorement way take a different stand.
They need to focus on making funny side quests like in the past exciting cities character development yes its worth mentioning a second time and put heart and passion into this series again.
They need to revive this and many other gamers heart and make this game unique again.
Its so painfully obvious why this series has crashed in popularity and sadly this will be the last dying effort to make FF great AGAIN.
Matthew North Yeah, a company that big would go bankrupt over a single game. Even Type 0 HD turned them a profit.
Relic IMO, Bravely Default felt like something totally on its own. It wasn't Final Fantasy. It was its own thing. It looked kind of like Final Fantasy on the surface, but only in a superficial sense.
The way I see it, it's like Dark Souls. No matter how many games like Lords of the Fallen come out, there's just something about the way From Software makes them, you know? Many can imitate it, but nobody hits it on the nose.
DerAlmighty It is a spiritual successor to a FF game so yeah it kind of is in that vain, its why the FF wikia calculates it. Its a successor to a FF game that only Japan got, same team and everything.
That's Funny, I also Recorded tons of video game music on cassette tapes too!! Especially, the music from all the Final Fantasy games!!
These videos are so fun to watch
This excellent video inspired me to play the FF XV demo, and... it's awful... Never thought it would actually be worse than Kingdom Hearts, but it somehow manages.
+Jesse Watson What its worse than Kingdom Hearts ? Thats quite hard to achive... i mean the Character of KH are so terrible its imposible... and the Combat system in XV looks at least deeper than KH had.
+TsunaTsurugi So I'd have thought as well, but have you played the FF XV demo? Combat is hold O to attack, hold square to dodge. I can't even figure out what you're supposed to do besides that.
@@JesseDylanMusic not the games fault you suck at it. These games change with the time and thank god for that. Turn based should not be accepted anymore today except for strategy rpg's.
@@drunkensailor112 Give me a break man. If you really like button-mashing, there is no shortage of it. Not every RPG has to be Dynasty Warriors. Nice reply to my 3 year old comment.
@@drunkensailor112 It's not the lack of turn based. It's just that XV isn't satisfying to play, feels like swinging wet noodles. I'm an action game player before JRPG player, I love my action games. But XV is not it. Could've been so much better if it had Dragon's Dogma-ish combat.
FFIX is my favorite
But I'm really hyped for XV
Too bad it sucked
Final Fantasy 1 will always be my favourite. I do have a preference towards the 16 bit era style games so a close second for me is FF5. I remember playing a translation of it with an emulator, and it was pure joy! The job system was really neat, and it was fun to build exactly the party / classes that I wanted; like working up to that combination that could 16 attacks per turn, good stuff! :)
Final Fantasy X was my first game with the name itself caught my curiosity in finding out the series is about. Following that, I played Final Fantasy 7 which would led me to become a fan of the series itself and introduce me to other RPG games like Chrono Trigger for ex. I continue to play the other FF games followed by the older classic games in GBA, DS and PSP remakes and among them all, my favourite FF game of the entire series is Final Fantasy 6 with Final Fantasy 7 being the second fave.
FF12 is my favourite, put around 140hrs into it, it's a slow burner, but the more you progress then more you start to appreciate the gambit system, I understand what Andrew is saying about it feeling like its on auto pilot, but for me this is only partly true, you basically set it up to do the basic things otherwise the whole game would be a constant stop/start experience, the meat of the combat you still have to do yourself, I just think it's a brilliant fusion of real time and turn based combat
Ff12 is so under rated. My fav game of all time. Wish we got more than Revenant Wings on the ds as far as Sequels go. Can't wait for the remaster.
FFVIII was such a disappointment after FFVII. FFIX was a nice bounce back though.
+CampingMIG I felt exactly the same, although nowadays I don't think FFVIII was not a bad game. FFIX, FFVII and FF Tactis The War Of Lions are my favorites until now.
I like 8 more than 9, BARELY
VIII is my favorite.
+Zombie Ranma I began playing IX for the first time not too long ago. It wasn't bad but the progression as well as the slow battle transitions were too painful for me to continue. I got half way through disc 3 and stopped suddenly, not wanting to go back.
VIII however, I started properly for the first time the other week and I am super invested. Junctioning is confusing at first but once you understand it, its incredibly deep and fun to experiment with. And don't get me started on drawing. I LOVE drawing, it feels like it somewhat adds a survival element to the game and adds a slight element of item/inventory management.
And I don't know why, but although he's super miserable I always had a soft spot for Squall.
I think people forget that Squall loves people/ but he's had a rough childhood. Lost both his mother and father and then later on lost his sister. Was put in an orphanage and lost contact with all his friends AND THEN...... basically lost his childhood to be raised like a child soldier. He was stand offish because he didn't want to get close to anyone anymore because he thinks he'll probably lose them and he didn't want to be a "burden". Deep down/ Squall wants people around him/ but he's afraid to feel abandoned or lost again.
Final Fantasy VIII was my favorite because I fell in love with the junction system. Once you set your characters upright with it they became unstoppable beast.
I remember my dad bought me FF-VII from a Costco back in the day.. it might've been back when it was still called PriceClub. And I remember beating that game on my little brother's PSOne with the portable screen in the backyard of my grandparents house, and man I was so damn satisfied with myself for finally beating that game.
So months later I had got a Jampack demo disc from my cousin, you know that one with the Viewtiful Joe demo, and of course I went through all the demos to then later find out that all the data on my memory card was *gone* , my completed FF7 save was on there dammit! I didn't find out until just a couple years ago that the Viewtiful Joe demo was the culprit.. and that's the story of my first (J)RPG lol.
You guys talking about Final Fantasy III(SNES) Really VI, is JUST like I felt about everything whenever I played it. Such a wonderful game, music... just great.
Loving the videos with Andrew. He seems like an interesting and thoughtful fellow. Looking forward to see more of him!
Man your videos get me so nostalgic.
omg, just found your channel! I just played FF III (6) for the entire week on the SNES Mini. This is the second time I'm playing it and the music in this game is truly moving. And the nostalgia for FF XI!!! Dang
Watching this video today, Dec 18 22, on the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy.
I liked the Gambit system in FF12. I had my characters set up in a way that I would go to work with elastic bands around the thumb sticks that kept my characters running in circles and killing and leveling up in a very tough part of the world. Sometimes I'd come home to find that the party had died, sometimes they'd still be running around killing monsters and I would have jumped 10 levels.
I feel like there are a lot of FF12 fans. It's so underrated as a RPG. I put it in the top ten all time. I also loved the ease of grinding you could be as active in combat as you wanted or set the gambits on a practical autopilot.
i love final fantasy and it's very close to my heart. this vid made me happy
Talk about save files I managed to beat FFIII(VI) on a rental copy, it took 3 rentals and there was a gap between and at the time the game was huge so it definitely got rented out in between but I somehow kept managing to get the same copy and no one had deleted my save. That game will always remain my favorite game in the series, love everything about it, the characters, the story, the music it's all amazing.
That's dedicated, I'm glad you got to beat it without anyone deleting your save :)
