    I came to use firearms later in life, and over several trips to the range renting a variety of pistols, I chose the TX22 as my "training wheels" pistol. It's reliable and accurate out of the box, already sighted in, with decent capacity magazines, and "relatively" cheap ammo so I can spend less than $50 each time I visit the range. I've added capabilities and calibers to my armory since then, but the TX22 remains the gun I train with most often because it's just so easy to use.

    • @busymountain
      @busymountain 3 года назад +2

      @@rrshowtime3900 everyone knows and loves the 22. But for years it’s been disqualified as a real weapon by many. Now with great amount of rounds and easy to shoot and great ergonomics of the pistol many feel comfortable shooting a 22 if they had to use it for defense. Most people aren’t very good with handguns and are reluctant to shoot a larger caliber but are comfortable shooting a 22 and with lots of rounds means I may not need to change a magazine if a situation comes up.
      The sales and popularity of this weapon I’d bet is bought for the use in defense as much or more as its use for training for a larger caliber weapon. Though people may not want to admit that.
      Id even suggest that competition will eventually catch up to this TX22 as sales for a high round count easy and inexpensive to shoot pistol is really what most people want.

    I've bought two of these this year...one of them had magazine failures on both magazines...plus one of two aftermarket magazines had the same failure. The issue seems to be that the plastic magazines have a bit of a "wave" to them which causes the follower to bind and tilt as it goes up and down. I've seen people sand down, clean, and lube the magazines to correct this, but that's just unacceptable. I called Taurus support, and while not difficult to work with, they also weren't very helpful. They would only replace *one* of the two magazines that came with the pistol, and told me to take my extra mag that failed back to the store for an exchange. Overall I'm happy with the pistol itself, just not the magazines and Taurus support.

    Don't have a .22 pistol but I'm liking this one. All the hand guns I own are Taurus's (PT 92AF, PT 908, G2c, & G3) all have been reliable for me so far. My 92AF & 908 I've had for 25+years.

    The "X" in "TX" is said to indicate that this is a training gun. That explains why it's a full size pistol, even though it's just a .22 LR.

  • @theirishman6728
    @theirishman6728 3 года назад +1

    With ammo prices and scarcity, for me, the TX22 makes a nice little substitute to scratch that itch on the range and train with, since it's larger framed, has all the manual of arms features in the right place as most defensive pistols and has mag capacity that match with most as well. Great trainer. Couple that with a CMMG AR 22lr conversion kit, and you have a nice 22lr training setup that won't break the bank.

    Have a Taurus 92 and a Taurus 745 Pro. The Taurus 92 is one of the earlier models and has a bit of a stiff trigger, but very reliable and accurate. The Taurus 745 is a little finicky with wide mouth hollow points (flying ashtrays), but is fine with more tapered hollow points, and also very accurate. I think it's a lot nicer to shoot than any compact Glock.

    I love this gun especially now when ammo is so hard to find. You can get some real trigger time on a handgun that has relevant cross over training for full sized handguns. But I also agree Taurus is hit or miss and this is the only one I own.

    I bought this gun as a trainer pistol sense 9mm ammo is none existent right now. It is my favorite gun to shot right now, mostly just cuz it’s fun. I have found that if I put 16rds in it will double feed sometimes, in comparison to only puttin 15rds in and never having issues. And I mean never, takes everything I feed it.

      The beretta m9 made by umarex is a better made pistol.......but the taurus comes threaded out of the box.
      I would also say a ruger m4 is a better pistol.....they just need a update to take them to 16+ rounds
      Build wise the taurus is cheap but it works hahaha

    That breath control! Nice shooting bro! Any chance you'd be willing to do a video on what we should strive for on breathing?
    After 1500 rounds of Fiocci 40gr, and over 1000 rounds of Thunderbolt/Federal 36gr, it definitely performs better with 40gr. Only a single malfunction and it was a dud round. I'm loving this thing.
    FYI, if you order a Galloway Precision red dot dovetail mount, it will NOT fit a Holosun HS507C or K. Also, it required some percussive persuasion to install the mount. Very tight fit.

      I've heard the sights on the TX22 aren't much to take home but the front is easily replaced with a fiber one and I'm sure the rear could be replaced with an adjustable black matte target plate style as well. If they work OK, I usually just apply a coat of white then neon green or orange neon nail polish to the rear of the front post blade.
