- Drum Major David Rae, after being presented with a bottle of Whisky by the Tomintoul Games Chieftain Jim Fraser. leads the combined pipe bands back through Tomintoul in Moray Scotland at the conclusion of the 2019 Tomintoul Highland Games. David Rae is with Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, and after many years of being involved in these Games, this was his last visit as a Drum Major, hence the honour of leading Drum Major for the march.
The pipe bands taking part are Huntly & District Pipe Band and Ballater & District Pipe Band, playing the tune "Cock o' the North" and "Bonnie Dundee" on the march back from the Games into Tomintoul. The other Drum Majors are Derek Dean, Ian Esson, Bill Barclay, Ronnie Rennie and Bert Summers.
I, as a true Englishman really enjoy Scotish military music. Bloody marvellous.
Scottish army music band has a great influence on Nepalese army band.We got those frocks and the bagpipes from them.Cheers.
All the best from yorkshire
Scotland is the true English soul
This isnt millitary music this is entertainment and we don't march into battle that would be idiotic

The pipes gets the feet tapping and the blood going well done lads an honour to watch
Salute for great great tradition, IT KEEPS UP OUR MORAL HIGH WHEN LISTING THIS BAND,
LOT OF RESPECT HONOUR FOR SCOTLAND,
FROM PAKISTAN.
I grew up in Toronto, Ontario with parents from Glasgow. Often times we would wake up to bag pipe music such as Black Watch or such. To this day I love the music and often brings tears to my eyes as I think of mom dad. My mom often at Christmas gave us a highland fling. Such great and fun memories. 🙋♀️🎶
Wow,, years of history and commitment in all the "mature" drum majors.
Hello....A special greeting from CHILE SouthAmerica, to all of you... Great Pipe Band....Congratulations to Sir ....
Congratulation to Mr. David Rae from the Czech Republic! Beautiful scottish pride!
That's the hardest part about doing something you love so very much.
At some point in time, you have to say good bye. God bless and keep you, Drum Major Rae.
That was emotional. Things like this make me extremely proud of my Scottish blood. I always get chills when I hear the bagpipes. Well done
I'm an Englishman and I love the sound of the pipes
As an American many generations separated from my Scottish heritage, the sound of the pipes still thrill me. I have to think there is some hereditary marker in the DNA of descendants of the Scots that carry an abiding love for the sound of pipes. God bless Scotland!
I thought I was alone with that thought. I tear up at the sound, like it hurts my heart. Harrd to explain but I feel the sound.

Very beautiful. My heart will go on.
Thanks Major Rae.
After all the discipline of the march it's really nice to see the fellows take their bearskins off and give each other a pat and a "nicely done". By hokey, that's a way to finish a pipes march-past!
Wha beautiful town and a beautiful sound!
Absolutely wonderful! Thanks very much for the post! Slàinte! 🥃🏴

Hearing this in the distance, slowly growing louder as they march towards the frontlines to battle for freedom. Gotta put the goosebumps on any enemy.

Listening to bagpipe music is a learned experience; as witnessed by that sweet, little girl plugging her ears as they went by. Thank you for sharing this bit of humanity with us (not the girl but the award ceremony)!

Good to watch,
In a completely different field I'm also about to retire. I can just imagine what's going through his head as he leads that march for the last time. Not easy... If you're out there Davey, my transition will be easier than yours - but we're all just boats going down the river to the sea. Here's to you.
Scotland will always be brave.. long live the Scots and the bagpipes..
another beautiful grey day in Scotland
Now, that was a cool video.
As soothing as this might sound to us, the very sound of these songs would of sent fear into the hearts of their enemies knowing what was coming.
I love the dedication in the UK Armed Forces (capital is out of respect ) .. There is some countries, that could cut out a piece of that dedication!!!!!!!!!
Amazing.
