I am a Nigerian but I was born in Saudi Arabia but I love my country and change for her and defend her and I wish our new President wishes to achieve and to achieve what we wish for our beloved country and we want to be the country's tourist country on the world Mistoa
I'm really glad that Nigeria is exponentially developing. Come on, Nigerians, show the World and especially europeans what you are able to do as an African nation (Omar, from Azerbaijan)
I'm studing internacional business at university and our teachers told us that Nigeria is growing up fast and it's a good oportunity to do buiness with them. I really send the best wishes to you.
The moment I left the airport and saw those mountains - I felt something stirr within me. Not sure what. But anyway, wherever I went in Abuja I used those mountains as a landmark and found my way around. Nigeria is a beautiful place - but you need money so you don't feel the poverty because poverty is all around and it is just heartbreaking.
I am so impressed that we have this in youtube. My profound thanks to all the governments that have worked together to make this possible and I pray also that subsequent government will continue on the maintenance and continued growth of my beloved country Nigeria. I have always longed to contribute to my nation building. Timothy Agugua
More beautiful than anything I've seen here in the West. I guess it's jealousy that makes the media maligned my motherland so much. May God bless Afraka.
Now lets get back to enjoying to positivity of this video and actually praise, encourage, and pray for the success of our Black African brothers and sisters.
I love Nigeria , I've been there once and I'm going again. I don't understand why people are degrading Nigeria and speaking terribly about it because if you haven't been there, then don't speak bout what you don't know.
Nigeria is definetly the most powerful black nation in the world. As any big nation, it has wonderful people and horrible beens. But I fell in love of this nation, and it is wonderful to see such advances. Abuja resmbles Brasilia as a planned capital, and it involves the great Nigerian builders as truly admirable members of the human race!! Arriba Nigeria!!
A great idea. Lagos was firmly a Christan capitol. With the religious conflict in Nigeria it was a great idea to centralize the capitol and make it accessable to Muslims as well.
abuja my god,my god it's so develop it's such a beauty,it's more beautiful than some of our so call western paradise, nigeria is develope just like any other western countrys. you don't see this on tv only violence about africa, we as jamaican knows better. africa is moving in to it's rightful position in this so call modern world. i love africa i've never bin there but hopefuly soon, lots of love for africa.
I'm very happy that some of the countries in Africa are gaining economic control, like Nigeria and South Africa, I hope the best of luck with a developed nation and able to trade with others.
I am a Guinean and met a beautiful Ijaw Girl that work and live in Abuja, I will leave Minneapolis on January 15, 2013 to meet her and make arrangement for our Wedding. I might travel to Bayelsa State and Benin. Nigerians are very nice people and don't be distracted by the few bad apples apples. They are smart, intelligent, honest and God fearing people. Love ya Naija
Nice city, when i get done with college I plan to move to Nigeria Thanks for having this video because i've never been there, but i've heard a lot of stories about it.
In nigeria they build 5 mile bridges in under 3 months. In England it takes 2 years or more. When it comes to constructions, repair etc Nigeria are very good at that, They can run cars up to 800,000 miles! My uncle broke down and got a 16 year old boy to weld his radiator in his car and he was on his way. Cost him like 2 dollars but he gave him more than that, In europe they just buy new stuff in nigeria they just repair them and keepusing them. Nigeria import things from asia and germany.
I think we should be rational in our criticisms. Even the president is not from Abuja. I understand your sentiments about your village and region, i am from the Niger Delta too. I think we should start to praise our own. It all starts with one staep in the right direction and if it is from Abuja the capital city then so be it. for those doubting, there are such states as Imo state, present Lagos state and Akwa Ibom states that are good examples of where the country is going. Long Live Nigeria!
I holistically love abuja because it is a well planed city, growing city which has great future for resouceful predent entrepreneur in any sector of Nigerian Economy. To me, I also see Abuja as a magic city which can turn any resouceful accurate hard working person around for good.....(ANTHONY AYONOTE MD/CEO OF GOD'S OWN BUSINESS INTERNATIONAL LTD, NIGERIA, AFRICA)
Nigeria is semi developed country. They have a lot of potential to be something great. Even greater than places like dubai and as good scenery as California etc, They need to raise the prices of oil sales to foreign countries and develop it a lot more. Nigeria has mass potential people are upset were not still in mudhuts.. Im happy they are upset because they are making progress..reduce corruption and develop!
Never thought Nigeria would be like this.... Your cutaway shots are too fast though.. please allow 3 seconds per scene... otherwise viewers cannot focus their eyes on it.
Well..talking from experience. I remembered back in the days when public toilets were built around Lagos. The toilet were only active for few years and after..became a mess. Corruption ruined Nigeria, maintenance is pursued but the people responsible don't do their job but wanted to get paid. The same thing happens to roads building and other local amenities..Abuja is all fine and florishing, if they slack to keep up with the maintenance schedule, then it will all become a mess eventually.
Okay I'm from America so excuse my ignorance if I show any. From what I have seen(on the internet) Abuja looks way better than Lagos. So, why is does Lagos have a higher population? Is Abuja safer than Lagos? p.s also does Abuja have electricity and water 24/7? I know Lagos doesn't have electricity all the time.
@TheEzekiel300 A majority of them where built by Nigerians, but some of the architecture was actually designed by foreign companies (mostly Japanese). The labor behind each structure definitely was Nigerian. The more recent buildings are designed and built by Nigerian companies.
Im a U.S. citizen who is mexican american n my only dream is to visit africa, middle east, australia, asia, europe and many more places.... p.s. i kno i listed countries n continents
This video is a bit informative, I didn't know nothing about this country except for what poeple from there or have been there tell me...I'd like to go visit the capial city one day.
PAWNB3YOND, you're a bit wrong. What is known as "Nigeria" not only touched by slavery, it was devastated by it and the effects can still be seen. Looking from the outside in and from what I and many have studied (and continue to study), Nigeria and other Black African nations whose ancient cultures are still highly intact are pretty much set to attain super advancement. The futures is bright for nations like Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola, Senegal and many others.
@MasaiQueen1 my friend, most of them are really jealous of the ongoing progress of Nigeria. I searched this video because I had seen Nigeria hosting Soccer championship. the stadiums were almost similar to those of Europeans. Before that I haven't heard of Nigeria's progress. I wish better progress for Nigerians
The destiny of man, dont know what the occasion is, this footage was filmed during OBJ's tenure as President, and El Nasir Rufai as FCT minister circa 2003. It is Rufai that is trying to lay a foundation. But at approximately 1.01 to 1.04 or so, Goodluck Jonathan emerges in the background......today he IS the President, Wow!!!
it takes time. They might be late installing broadband but they had cable and satellite tv since 1994! It wont be long before they are able to use broadband nationwide. Also not long before they are getting an HD signal etc. Its more important to improve infrastructure of the country. Also the areas where foreigners are siphoning oil from needs to be developed as well. The roads in London are a joke compared to abuja. Nigeria has potential they need to ruthless in developing the country.
Being wrong, by way of analysis will mean that the opposite of my submission is correct i.e Abuja is not parasitic- it has its own dynamics, it's massive structures are essentially built from internally generated funds; and perchance the oil dries up today, or the country breaks up Abuja's modus of development and sustainance will not experience a hitch? Well, if you say so..!
Aqua: It goes both ways. I personally don't hate for the sake of it, unless someone does something to me, then I will take on that person, NOT the whole of that persons ethnicity. And anyone who hates an ethnicity/race other than their own 'just because', needs enlightenment.
We neeed positive images of Africa. We in the west are never i mean never exposed to such reality. For once let us celebrate an african creation in the form of the city of Abuja. A vision imagined and realised in such splendour by african people.
@VideoMikki Well actually since the troubles in the Delta region(thankfully it's grinding to a standstill!), Nigeria is actually relying LESS on oil as the life blood of the nation, just as it did before the oil boom! Thankfully,we are now going into areas that Nigeria was never interested in before, such as tourism, and eco-tourism in particular! We've made mistakes, mismanaged our nation, but it's these past failings that we are learning from,to build a better nation! PEACE!
actually both y'all are correct. no matter where you go, if you dont know anyone, you will regret ever going there becoz human beings are the same eveywhere and when people know that u are new to a place they try to take adantage of you. Nigeria is not as bad as people say though. i also grew up there and ive been tryna go back the moment my feet landed in the states. let's not bash Nigeria but if we all work together, our ideal Nigeria will be realized. i appreciate your loyalty brooklyn7487
Yes, Nigerian companies exist which build roads, office towers and so on without white foreign involvement. I hope you realise there are over 100 universities in Nigeria producing professionals in every field under the sun.
The whole Bakassi issue is a very sad one , and I feel it because I'm partly from there, and the real sad part is that we really had hardly any support, from ANY MAJOR TRIBE for decades, yet life goes on, we are being resettled, we STILL consider ourselves Nigerians, and indeed the Nigerian govt are sticking to their words, and you are even getting English speaking Camerounians, holding on to whatever links they have to Naija, to claim our citizenship, surely WE must be worth something! PEACE!
Gyrl friend! all these people dissin Abuja can only diss because reality is they will never go there. Other states ARE trying, and as you said it's down to good governors, and state /federal reps of each state. Obasanjos agenda was clearing our national debt, which he did, now our revenues are going directly to the states and it's left to the governors how they spend it. CRS my state has turned around 500%, due to good governance, this shows that it IS possible with a committed leader! PEACE!
looks very nice. the last time i visited abuja was 1988, but even then i could imagine how great it will look. its really funny how ignorant the rest of the world is about nigeria and Africa. i think i will visit abuja when next i visit. not sure if i will want to live there. i prefer the south and lagos..anyday. but i would have prefered a fraction of that money spen on improving overall infrastructure across the country. its like a man spending money on his friends but neglects his family!!
I'd be grateful for anybody's thoughts on what it would be like for a single male relocating to Abuja. I am aware that being white this may draw attention to me on occasions but I am not insular to other cultures and lived in Istanbul for a while. Of equal interest is the opposite sex ? Thanks in advance,
I was in Nigeria last year....abuja looks nice here, but it looks waaay better now....TRUST.
the video is very old, Abuja looks waay better now
true
I am a Nigerian but I was born in Saudi Arabia but I love my country and change for her and defend her and I wish our new President wishes to achieve and to achieve what we wish for our beloved country and we want to be the country's tourist country on the world Mistoa

Absolutely beautiful, Nigeria the becon of light to blacks in the world.

I'm really glad that Nigeria is exponentially developing. Come on, Nigerians, show the World and especially europeans what you are able to do as an African nation

I hope more African countries do become this progressive in business and trade as Abuja. What a beautiful place!! would love to visit one day!!
As an american I must say I truly enjoyed my stay here. Very different from what I thought it would be.

It looks a lot different then what I expected but I like it. It looks beautiful and I surely would love to visit.
I must visit Abuja when I return to Africa!
A great idea. Lagos was firmly a Christan capitol. With the religious conflict in Nigeria it was a great idea to centralize the capitol and make it accessable to Muslims as well.
this City is just 30 years old wonderful
Abuja is beautiful.
I have been to Lagos, Abuja, Anambra and Enugu but Abuja is the most beautiful place I have seen in Nigeria. Why can't all of Nigeria look like Abuja?
. . . They make Nigeria look like a good place to live. . . .
abuja my god,my god it's so develop it's such a beauty,it's more beautiful than some of our so call western paradise, nigeria is develope just like any other western countrys. you don't see this on tv only violence about africa, we as jamaican knows better. africa is moving in to it's rightful position in this so call modern world. i love africa i've never bin there but hopefuly soon, lots of love for africa.

Nice city but the huge church and mosque are eye-sores. I like the roads and stadiums this video presented.

Nice City! Greetings from Europe
Wow, very impressive.
Nigeria is rich. Its a matter of fact. But the bad thing is that just few people take advantage from it - very few.
Thanks for the honesty
