Nigeria should add transit-oriented developments (TODs; walkable communities) centered around each station in order to help boost ridership. They do that to great effect in Europe, Japan, and China. Rooting for Nigeria, here in USA!
Good to see Nigeria 🇳🇬 is rising wonderfully to claim its superpower status in Africa! The commuter trains we have here in Kenya are a joke compared to these in Abuja and Lagos! Sending love from Kenya 🇰🇪 ❤

There is a common complaint in the West that China is exploiting Africa. Our people need to be strategic in these dealings. It's acceptable for China to get a discount on our natural resources, but in return, we should demand assistance in improving our infrastructure, including ports, trains, and airports. Infrastructure is crucial for the development of our continent. We now have many educated individuals, and by combining our resources and skills with improved infrastructure, we can gradually catch up with the rest of the world. Keep up the good work, Sister!..

The train is beautiful, but it would be better if Nigerians were the train drivers. When the Lagos metro's Blue Line started operations, they immediately employed Nigerian drivers. I’m sure Nigerians will eventually be driving these trains as well, but it would have been better to train them early and have them drive from the start of commercial operations, just like Lagos State did.
Yes for now it is the Chinese working together with Nigerians after some months they will hand it over to the Nigerians after they have been well trained,i said it in the video maybe you did not watch to the end ,
@Priscaoriade I understand. I watched until the end and saw the Nigerians being trained for different areas and positions. I just felt there was enough time to have Nigerians trained and ready as drivers before the launch of commercial operations. Better late than never, I guess. Anyway, I look forward to seeing Nigerians taking charge of various positions in the Metro. This will greatly benefit the residents of Abuja. Thanks for a great video.
They were supposed to have been trained but this government had to review the contract for the training which was was cut down from around $150m to about $75m so they couldn't train them because the contract was stopped but now that they've reached a new agreement I believe in no time we shall see Nigerians driving the trains. It's a good development anyway. Kudos to all those who made this happened. @interestingthingstoknow8975
If you had followed the official statement of the Minister during the inauguration, The Minister stated that China would train our people for 29months. So eventually Nigerians will be the driver's with the required training... Thanks 😊❤
It's a good project but it's not ground breaking. I beleive with time we can begin to explore high speed rail travel as is the case China and other important countries
Every country is developing except India. The same Hindu muslim conflicts happening everyday. Congratulations to Nigerian on becoming African Superpowers.
I'm always happy whenever I see any infrastructural project that will benefit the general public irrespective of where such a project is in Nigeria. This is lovely and beautiful no doubt it will uplift the socio-economic life of the Abuja people. We have one in Lagos, now Abuja, I'm hoping one of the governors in Southeast or South-south will also have one soon, this way we can build good cities around the country and stop the urban migration to Lagos and Abuja. Besides, let us have a developmental healthy rivalry among our states and cities, God bless Nigeria.
Thank you for the very clean video. Thanks to the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Minister, Nyesom Wike. This video is very clean! Well done. May Nigeria succeed 🙏✌🏿🇳🇬❤
This is nice, but there should have been a stop at Lugbe cos of the population that lives there. Many people that live in Lugbe would love to ride it to the airport or to central area.
The moment I saw Kenya giving British the contract to do the Nairobi Metro, I knew it would never even take off. Chinese are the real deal. No western power can do what Chinese have been able to do in Africa. Our people should learn through apprenticeship, we should drive the next revolution.
The fact of the matter is a lot of Chinese projects in Africa are built and financed and operated by the Chinese. They don’t do nearly enough training locals on how to maintain the system, then the system falls into disrepair and when the country decides to go with another contractor that will train their people to maintain after construction the CCP companies come running back saying they’ll repair it. It would be more amazing if q country like Nigeria leveraged its material wealth to build its infrastructure on its own or in cooperation with other major African companies and investors with terms beneficial to Nigeria.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but the project in Nairobi is not a rail project, but a land development project around Nairobi Central Station which only started last year with UK support. And to say China was good in this project in Abuja is an overstatement considering there were severe design and quality issues, and the fact it doesn't seem to serve actual neighbourhoods.
Really nice, but I haven't seen Garki, Dawaki, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Wuse, Gudu, Apo, Mabushi, Durumi, Central Area, Nyanya, Karu, Gaduwa, Mpape, Karimu, Maitama, Gwagwa, Asokoro... what happens to the people that live in these areas?
good and i wish that they will also be coming more frequent like every ten min since its metro and not train station so it goes only within Abuja so it should be more frequent but maybe it will once its paid. also they should remove the Chinese flag in the beginning of the video abeg ahah
Ok so they messed up with the route of this project but they can rectify it by making it go underground at Abuja Metro station to then provide a much needed sevice in and around the CBD area.
