Re: FSU, I think the betting odds are on FSU to the B1G. I would personally prefer the SEC and the SEC fits a lot of boxes for FSU, BUT there's a LOT of bad blood between FSU and the SEC and FSU and ESPN. If Clemson and FSU are such a great fit for the SEC and the ACC/ESPN know that both schools are virtually gone from the ACC, why is ESPN not aiding their exit right now?

@@C-gt42069 is that you Immaculate? No, but seriously... Georgia Tech isn't on anyone's radar. Making the argument that Georgia Tech could give you the Atlanta market is like arguing that Boston College gave the ACC the Boston market. In all reality, no one in Boston cares about Boston College and that's why they were likely one of the worst additions to any conference, ever. The B10 adding Georgia Tech for the "Atlanta market" would be like them adding FIU for the "Miami market."
Georgia Tech definitely has the academics and the AAU status, but their history from over 50 years ago means nothing. They're a terrible brand TODAY and they don't invest in athletics. UGA owns Georgia.

  • @vegasgal777
    @vegasgal777 Месяц назад +1

FSU didn’t get paid to sign away their rights until 2036, if they did, you may have an argument for signing away their rights. Rather, there are shady dealings and sleight of hand amendments that have gone on.
ESPN has clauses that give the network options. There is no guarantee that ESPN will exercise their option to continue on with the ACC.
The grant of rights (GOR) contract has not been seen by many, which may be in violation of Florida’s sunshine law for a state entity to be involved with a secret contract. So many issues and back room dealings with the ACC, these matters need to be adjudicated or the ACC could let Clemson & FSU out.
I like FSU & potentially GT for the B1G.

There is only tv money guaranteed till 2027 for the ACC so the loss of revenue is not realized for the buy out.
The XII gets to renegotiate at least 5 years before the ACC so it’s a better option.
The ACC forces that deal on all the teams with a threat of major financial penalties if they did not agree. And the ACC misrepresented the deal so they broke their fiduciary responsibility.

I know there is a lot of rumors about UNC going to the SEC but they are a founding AAU member because they take their academics seriously. Therefore they fit well in the B1G with the other ivory tower snooty elites. Plus UNC must get authorization from the NC Board of Governors to do anything. Since the NC BOG doesn't want NC St being left behind I could see them allowing UNC going to the B1G and NC St going to the SEC. Then they can continue playing each other in a yearly non-con game to keep their rivalry alive. That's the only realistic scenario I could see the NC BOG allowing because there is no way NC St is getting accepted into the B1G because they don't have the academics for it.

    A few comments:
Clemson and FSU are BIG bound
UNC and NC State (not Duke) are SEC bound
VT/UVA are a package deal, VT actually applied for AAU membership last summer, so I’m guessing they’re both opting for the BIG.
The SEC and BIG will both end up 24 teams. The SEC likely to pick up Okie State and Kansas as well as expanding into former ACC territory.
GT is overlooked, yes, but they don’t make much sense. I do think they end up with Miami going to the BIG after the state of VA fails to change the law tying the schools and VT doesn’t get AAU membership, leading to UVA/VT to the SEC as well.

To get to a 24-Team Super Conference, the SEC would need to add four more teams, and since MOST of the SEC are Land Grant Institutions, NONE of the Metro Schools left in the ACC fill the bill... So, "THERE'S ONLY ONE PLACE TO TURN", the Big-12, and to keep up with the BIG (Coast-to-Coast), they "POACH Arizona, Colorado, Kansas (to APPEASE Kentucky) and Utah!
That's your two "SEMI-PRO, SUPER CONFERECNES", and at that point they "WILL BREAK AWAY" from the NCAA to create their own playoffs and championships in ALL SPORTS... After all, it's about "Making and KEEPING as much money as you possibly can, and to HELL with the rest of" College Athletics"!!!

I think the SEC adds Florida St/Clemson then eventually Miami & NC State.
The Big Ten adds North Carolina, Duke. Notre Dame will have no choice at this point due to the ACC being watered down and will join the Big Ten under the condition that Stanford be admitted.
The Big 12 will add San Diego St, Cal (which at this point has no choice). I know neither are good at FB, especially the Aztecs, but the league will wanna satisfy the AZ schools, Utah, Colorado by giving them access to Ca. And they'll also take Louisville, who actually did want to be in The Big 12, the first realignment go around, along with Ga Tech. I agree with how valuable the Atlanta market is. Plus, this gives UCF someone regionally they can play. And Ga Tech isn't gonna say no.
That leaves Pitt, Syracuse, BC, Virginia, Va Tech, and Wake on the outside.
Virginia is caught in an area where they're not in a big media market, and they're competing against a lot of teams that have bigger brands and power, specifically Notre Dame for a limited amount of spots in the Big Ten. Their lack of FB success hurts them in the eyes of the SEC. And while schools like Cal, Ga Tech would look down their nose at the academics of Big 12 schools. They're also very low on the totem pole and would love to find any way to leapfrog a lot of other schools.
Pitt and Louisville were really close, but i went with Louisville. I just think there's more upside there.
One thing that would be cool is if Syracuse followed UConn's lead and put their FB program in, say the MAC, and went back to the Big East in other sports. Most importantly, basketball.
Jon Rothstein said it best in a tweet. Syracuse basketball at the Big East tournament is a happening.
Syracuse basketball at the ACC tournament is irrelevant.

Not sure why more talk about just rebranding the ACC. Where the top teams leave to form a 8/10 team conference to renegotiate a better TV deal per school. Big 10 and SEC will have a hard time taking more teams w/o taking a cut in TV revenue so the schools moving would need a landing place.

My trusted source says (13) Notre Dame does not count. Others say (15). Miami has released a statement they are happy in the ACC. There was a breakdown of tv viewership for football from 2016 - 2023: 1) Alabama 2) Ohio State 3) Texas 4) Florida State. Now: Georgia Tech could be invited for market knowing Georgia is the favorite College football team in the State & Florida State University is the 2nd most popular College football team in the State of Georgia. There is some validity to the Florida State/Notre Dame bundle to the B1G. The $$$ figures being thrown around are huge! FSU would likely want another university located in the South Eastern part of the country: With UNC the B1G would already have the State of North Carolina. Duke? Duke? Duke? At the moment it is a wait & see. ESPN needs money & the ACC 2025 & 2027 secret is out. Some ACC teams are seem destined too become Group-5 teams.

The B1G has an escalation clause built into it's media deal for expansion, but the only school named is Notre Dame. That means any other schools added would need to be paid for by either Fox or a new media partner. Fox just bumped up the current media deal to add Wa/Or, they might not be interested in doing it again. The ceiling for any new team not ND that's added to the B1G before the next media deal is half shares. So yeah, FSU isn't getting some crazy windfall, they would more than Likely be making the same as they are getting in the ACC till the next media deal in 2030.

If they are willing to provide the funding those schools are gone. The problem with the ACC in that case is ESPN may not be willing to renew the current deal in 2025 because the conference will be watered down. With those teams gone from the SEC I would bring in Florida State, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia. Now up north to the Big Ten I would rid the conference of going nowhere schools like Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern. I do see the possibility of Vanderbilt leaving and joining a group of five, or possibly going independent, or even form a southern Ivy League alliance with the other major Private Schools in the South.
Mizzou and Kentucky are both interesting cases: Kentucky is an original member of the SEC, but they’re closer to most of the Big 10 East compared to about half of the SEC West schools, and it’s about equidistant to the Big 10 East schools to some of the SEC East Schools (namely Florida and South Carolina. Georgia is about equidistant to most of the Big 10 East schools, (Indiana the lone exception)
Mizzou moving in 2012 (along with Texas A&M) made them feel alienated since it is a way longer trip to the other SEC East schools compared to some Big 12 Schools. Mizzou is in the west central region of the state, and is about 2 hours east of KC, add an extra hour and you’re in Lawrence KS. At least five Big 12 schools are within 7 Hours of Columbia MO
The closest SEC East City, Nashville, to Columbia MO? 6 and 1/2 hours away. Everyone else (in the SEC East) is at least a 7 Hour Drive away. The closest SEC school period? Arkansas (they’re about 5 hours away, but still that would put them behind Kansas, K-State, and Iowa State, while being almost equidistant to Nebraska.)
This means that Mizzou is closer to 3 big 12 (and 1 Big Ten) schools compared to the SEC.

    - ND sees the writing on the wall and ultimately decide to join the B1G
    - I think SEC will still want to expand in the North Carolina/Virginia market and add NC State & VA Tech to get the conference to 20 total
    - Big 12 take advantage of the opportunity and add Pitt & Louisville
    - B1G finally adds Stanford & Cal to help with setting up divisions/pods and get the conference to a whopping 24 team total
    - Duke refuses to join Big 12 and the remaining ACC (BC, GT, Cuse & WF) add UConn and partner with Big East for Mens & Womens basketball to create an elite Bball conference and fight to get their conference champ a bid for the CFP every year

Its laughable that the BIG12 believes they have leverage to add VA schools. The travel for one neither would agree to. Especially with WVU only being the closest drive. Both schools are known for staying in conferences that keep them geographically regional. Playing a conference😊

Georgia Tech will not be left out of either the Big 10 or the SEC. The Big 10 offered GT a few years back which GT declined. GT is an AAU school as well which is a requirement for the Big 10. The other factor is I don't see a world where the SEC would let the Big 10 into the heart of SEC country and would most likely offer GT as well.

With SEC and BIG 10 obviously expanding, with Texas A&M mabey moving to the big10 we know the SEC will get some top tier teams 2 or more why wouldn't Georgia Tech move to the SEC, they were after all a founding member of the SEC, that would also give Georgia 2 teams in the SEC just like Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi and Florida if Florida St. Joins
What about Georgia Tech to the SEC

If those teams pull out, I don’t see why Stanford and Cal would stick with the new “mountain west” ACC. Go back to PAC, take SDSU, SMU, Boise State, etc and call it a day.

Stanford isn't going to a "mountain west" Pac either. They're going hitchhike a ride with Notre Dame and if that fails, they're willing to go Independent or let non Olympic sports die.

@@AlvinBeard good for them, but i don’t think it’s worth it, but hey it’s not my money and fsu is in a power 4 conference it may be the weakest of the power 4 because i think the big 12 is ahead of them even with Texas and Oklahoma leaving. FSU has a clear path to a top 4 seed in the playoffs and that’s all they want so they can have a bye.
