Let me tell you a story of what happened to Florida State in the 80s. Florida State fans were sick and tired of losing to Miami and further complained that they had to play the Florida Gators making the schedule to tough. FSU decided that they were going to either drop Miami entirely or schedule them every now and then. FSU being a state funded school had to have the Florida Legislature approve-problem was that the Governor was a Miami grad and the Florida Legislature is predominately made up of South Florida representatives. Of course the South Florida Reps did not approve and further stated that if FSU goes ahead and drops UM they (The Legislature) would with hold state funds from the school. Result FSU dropped the matter entirely.

I think most FSU fans feel that the ACC refereeing has it out for FSU and they do all they can to try and dictate games so we'll lose so at the end of the day us FSU fans will take the so called bad refereeing in the SEC over the ACC all day long cuz I can promise you that FSU is already used to that and I can also promise you that SEC refs are not worse than ACC guaranteed. ACC refs are the absolute worse refs there is so going to the SEC or the BIG 10 for that matter would be a huge step up for FSU especially since we'll be getting paid a whole lot more money in either one of those conferences so we would gladly take that. Getting rid of ACC refs would truly be a dream come true for us FSU fans. As we say it in the ACC when it comes to the refereeing ACC stands for (A)nother (C)rappy (C)all and that's the absolute bottom line! This would be a change we would gladly take if it means we're out of the ACC no matter what conference we're in just as long as it's not the BIG 12 which is highly unlikely! #GoNoles

So you both take $60 million per year as an independent rather than $100 million in the B1G. And give up the security of being in one of the two leagues that count. Why would the big 2 make it easier for independents to get into the playoffs? FSU could fight ND for that slot. The SEC will also be close to that $100 million or more, so UF will still be making $40 million per year more than FSU. Is that what you want?
In fact, why would the big 2 make it easy for another major independent to even exist? What if the B1G and SEC schools do not have room for FSU on their schedules? Would the leftover ACC schools welcome them? FSU might have a more than tough time setting schedules with anyone. With watered down schedules, how much is an independent FSU worth to a network?
Is Miami as a place really that important to either the SEC or B1G? Honestly, I think that your guest really is off the wall on many issues.

Stony Brook and University of Buffalo are two examples of AAU that aren't undergraduate powerhouses.
Swarthmore and Bowdoin are very difficult to get into undergrad, however their research is non-existent.
That being said the best undergraduate universities are also AAU CalTech, MIT, the ivies, Northwestern, Duke, Stanford, etc.

ESPN will never void the contract in 2026. They put a lot of money into creating the ACC Network.

Also what motivation would they even have anyway? They have Clemson and FSU at bottom dollar right now, still pulling in the 7th and 22nd most eyeballs on TV. FSU-LSU was the most watched regular season game involving an SEC team (the other regular season match-ups above that game were 3 B1G games all involving Ohio State, and two Colorado games). This is 100% going to play out in courts, and ESPN will not be stepping up to void that contract.

And it's a failure. The whole conference is a failure. ABC/Disney want to spend that money elsewhere on things that make money.

@@jpDragna Having them at "bottom dollar" doesn't negate the issue of having 7+ other members that are well overpaid. That's why they're going to do it. It's too much wasted money on the books.

how about the school that had both mens and womens bball teams in the final 4 and is one of only five football teams in the Power 5 that has won eight or more games in each of the past four seasons? forgot about them huh?

All aboard the BIG 10 train. No reason to give any more revenue to ESPN who has clearly spent a decade or more of their time and efforts trying to make us a second class team. Most of us will never forgive or forget the only unbeaten team left out of the playoffs. We are better than that and deserve a conference that is going to treat us right. Big 10 here we come. Soooo long ESPN.
    Fear the Spear!!!
Oh and LSU has been treated like the kid in the back seat as well by ESPN while propping up Alabama and Georgia. I would not be happy if I was an LSU fan.

I was just watching a Josh Pate segment on Miami and from what I could glean from it, there are a ton of sidewalk fans of Miami's that donate to the university for mere branding to be adjacent to the series leader that would happily trade in the orange and green for garnet and gold if FSU lead the overall series.
