I’ve had mine for 11 years. The images I have made with it are superb. Such beautiful prints. I sold my Fuji xt3 but kept the xpro1. I’ll never sell it. It just has something special. I’m considering purchasing the xpro 3.

Did you get the xpro3? I have the xpro1 & the xpro3 and tbh.... i'm thinking about selling the xpro3 hahah. The xpro1 sits on my shelf and I will never sell it. It's holy. The xpro3 is "better" in a classical sense, but it doesn't have the magic for some reason.

@@yccmo I still have my xpro1 but I did purchase an XE4 and love it for its simplicity and minimalist look.

Don’t get an xp3. It doesn’t have the X factor and 1st xp to be designed not by the original chap - he moved to Germany. I had one, sold it and bought an xp1

your point at the end is so true. Selling my xpro1 is something I'll never bring myself to do because I know I'd regret it immediately.

Well said! When you find what works for you without putting any pressure on your craft just makes the whole experience so much more fun. My XE2 is my “shoot for fun” 🤙🏼

Great thoughts and words. I got mine in 2012, followed by a T1, H1 and a V. I've owned and sold a T3 and T20. I live in London. The Pro1 with one lens, the 35mm f/1.4 is with me on my thoughtful and slower days. I have a connection with all my bodies and the V. Understanding how to use each of them took time, the Pro1 is not as easy to use as say the T1, H1 or the V, but when I see a good composition, and understanding the shortcomings of the Pro1, I always capture a good image, and I love it. If it broke, I'd buy another. Thank you for your post

Sometimes its the apparant shortcomings of a camera that present a challenge to us and therefore become interesting to use if the final result is deemed to be worthy

Bought an x-pro1 for 110 euro a few years ago from a local listing, just with a broken function wheel. Seeing the prices now, i can't believe my luck and it's my fav camera to use and have fun with.

I recently traded my X100T (8 years of ownership) to the original X100. I prefer the files of the first gen X100, I use JPEG only for this one. A young guy I met asked me why the downgrade? I replied that I considered it an upgrade as I prefer the files from the older sensor. He looked so confused, thinking that a newer camera body is always better. I met him again recently and he said he understood my thoughts now. BTW, I was seriously considering the Pro1, same thought process. My focus is on the photography not on joining the new gear hype train.

Have you used an x-pro2? Is the auto focus really that noticeably bad on the xpro1 when compared to the pro2?

How's ttartisan 27mm perform on older camera xtrans1 sensor? Is it good enough? Af and speed?

I agree with the phrasing of a "no expectations" camera. I feel like I can cut loose with the GR and just have fun rather than hunt for a particular image, and it bleeds into my mainline work. It's similar to the old full frame or crop factor DSLRs I bring around to play with the film-era lenses (both boring and characterful), but it's like the tiniest version of them lol. They're all shutter therapy material, and that's what these fun cameras should really facilitate.

you gotta remember that as polarising a camera the X-Pro1 was, it was used by many pros in the past. I had mine which I bought new for 11 years now. I don't think I will ever sell it.

What do you think about focus speed for still and hobby street photography ? Is it really as slow as some subreddit suggest ? I really want this camera for just everyday life, family, hobby photography in black n white.. I have the 27mm ttartisan lens too. I don't need the clinical perfection what you mentioned too. What do you think ?

The xpro1 is perfect for your type of photography. It is quick enough, especially after the firmware releases. I bought it in 2015 and will never sell it. For me the original xtrans sensor is the best. Very close to film. I own more than 30 cameras and this one is very special...my favorite digital gear!

people continually make this point about gear, and it’s true you don’t need the latest gear, plenty of people buy gear they don’t need. but you need the right tools for the job. obviously the xpro1 is good enough for many types of photography, but if you wanted to shoot sports or wildlife, astro, events with fast moving subjects, or some kinds of landscape photography perhaps then the xpro won’t be good enough or will make life difficult.

You take a photo taken by a 2023 camera, take a photo by a camera like xpro1.
Unless you're doing a side-by-side to 100. The average person on instagram or fb cannot tell the difference. Nor do they care.
