The X-Pro 1 shutter is actually made of unicorn's horn material.
And the sensor is made out of Leprechaun facial hair
The X-pro1,XE1,XM1 all have this sensor. The jpegs are that good.
Still my all time favorite camera. It’s such a fun experience to shoot with it
Picking one up tomorrow. First Fuji film and rangefinder type
I primarily shoot mine in BLACK & WHITE, but what COLOR profiles do you guys like the most on it ? Gonna try it out..
it's a nice camera for monochrome images aswell. I always shoot raw and edit in capture one.
I prefer unlocking the simulations with this method.

Really enjoying your videos and photography. The X pro 1 is my favourite modern(ish) camera for it's combo of handling and output, for sure. Feels a lot like my Contax G1, even the OVF focusing. Manual focusing with old lenses and focus peaking is fun. Manual everything suits me best generally. I'm wondering, what vintage lenses have you personally found best for b&w photography?
You're 100% right! This is a true modern classic. Also my favourite camera. With all it's quirks and limitations, but with character and emotions. Something for the heart, not only a tool. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!👍🏻
Thanks for your comment!
just checked out your channel, and subscribed!
@@Kim_Alexander oh, thank you very much!
Killing backround, bro!! Photos are amazing!
Thanks! :D
Thanks for this video.
I have a xpro 1 and would be pleased if you could give us the recipes that you use for color and black and white.
Thank you
I have it with my fave lens xf 35mm f2 almost a old 50mm also custom body cover lizard skin i love it and I'd never sell
I come from the XT Serie but you really make me want to jump on an X-Pro Body 🙏 nice Aston Mic 🎙️ by the way
Thanks for the comment, fun that you noticed the Aston mic. I have used all XT cameras except the xt2. Currently own an X-T1 and X-T5 they are nice as well especially 1, 2 & 3. 4&5 just don't gives the same feeling in the hands.
The xpro line up provides a unique experience especially x-pro1 and 3 defently worth picking up pro1 is still quite cheep
My favorite X-Pro version. Just bought a 2nd body since the prices are creeping up. I hope to get one or two more by end of year, as I shoot streetphotography everyday and plan to have backups for failures.
£500 used in UK. So many excuses to rip us off.
An amazing camera with great colour. Pity mine has broken. :-(
Interesting that shortly after it was released all reviews were pissing on it like there is no tomorrow… now it is selling used for more that what I have paid for it new when it was announced to be discounted
Are you using Capture One for your post-processing? If so, how do you like it compared to Lightroom? Thanks
I use capture one I'm a long time user of it. Like it much more than lightroom
@@Kim_Alexander That’s great 👍 to hear because I purchased the software & then the pandemic 😷 hit and I never learned it. Just purchased a used XT-2 so I’m going to get back into it. Great video content! 👏 Thanks
@@paulv8453 nice!
been thinking of doing a film about my work flow for a while
@@Kim_Alexander I would totally be interested in that 👍
What film simulation was used for the photos shown here in this video?
I mostly shoot raw, and use various films insulations in capture one.
@@Kim_Alexander ok but can you let me know what film sim was used for most of those photos? Provia? Astia?
@@XIKAIIX i often use this method to unlock all the simulations since X-pro1 by default dont let you access them in Capture one: ruclips.net/video/Uy5IwW-Sr3E/видео.htmlsi=X5V0Sx12WsCEkPyL
Unfortunately thee is no general anser on what simulation i use it depends on what i think is best for the the images.
Sometimes i dont even bothering changing the meta data and just go with the standard profile out of Capture one.
With me at all times. No doubt about it, still the winner. Had to get a twin sister .... just in case :)
Thanks for the love! Keep watching and I'll keep creating awesome content for you.
X pro1 x ever
X pro1 x forever...sounds like a new secret code!
I'd love to play with an X-Pro 1, but the limitation for me is the lack of a built in dioptor correction. To use one, I'd have to locate physical correction lenses to screw into the eye piece, and without having a physical photo store carrying that product, I'd have no way to try it before I buy it to assure I have the right one. With my modern Fujis, I simply spin the dial until the finder is crisp and clear, and that is step less, not corresponding to a number like +2 or -1.
This seems strange since the original X100 has dioptor correction and it came out before the X-Pro 1.
I think you can buy a kit with all the diopters you need, if it fits nikon it fits on the xpro1
Buy a X-E1, I did because of the Diopter and the beter EVF, same sensor as X-Pro1
@@eddejong cool camera too but the xpro1 looks cooler and makes my boat float more :)
@@Kim_Alexander I wear my X-Pro1 to church and my X-E1 is for the rest of the week 😄
Just try a pair of reading glasses, note the correction and order the appropriate diopter from B&H. 🤦🏻♂️ I do appreciate this being a deal breaker for most people...because it keeps the XPro1 prices down for me to pick one up every few months for a few hundred bucks.
are the pictures you took SOOC?
No I show raw and jpeg the jpeg is a reference for the look I want. I have some recepies in the camera that I use. 2 color and 2 black and white.
Ofen tend to use presets on a raw file in capture one that match the camera presets.
How ever I enjoy working as I did back in the day in the darkroom with a negative to being able to bright up some parts of the image I Ofen so that with people and there eyes.
My work flow Is based a lot around how I did stuffs in the dark room
@@Kim_Alexandercan you precisely describe your recipe for me if it’s ok for you? Seems a lot settings to work with and I’m kind of confused 😅
Why Fuji doesnt manufacture the developed and better version of xpro1's sensor in its newer cameras??
I think if toy would ask Fujifilm the sam question they would say the did with the X-trans 2, 3,4 & 5
I think what so many would want to se is perhaps the possibility to change mode on the camera. Just as we can change film simulation a mode switch for sensor look is what we want..
@@Kim_Alexander youre right but why everyone says that this sensor (xpro 1) is the best sensor in fuji's series and X lines versions ??
I mean they say like they expect to be repeated again
@@deathfellow6737
The first X-trans kind of feels like a filmstock
Fun thing is that I managed to get an XT1 just some days ago.
That got me thinking is the older sensors really nicer or is it some sort of belief based in nostalgic.
Since I now have an X-T1 that means I have the first 4 sensors, and planing to make side by side images from every sensor and nail down the difference..
But it also seams like the two sensors that thrills me the most is the first X-trans and X-trans4 . However there is a difference. I made a comparison between these sensors awhile ago. ruclips.net/video/xDPWgHnsc78/видео.html
I love these old cameras with low megapixels sensors, Fuji XPRO1, Canon 5D Classic, Nikon D700 etc... But here is the thing: your photos are heavily edited, it is not SOOC look of Fuji XPRO1. When properly edited, almost all modern CMOS sensor can look vintage. I think more informative value would have, if you post SOOC photos, either JPGs or unedited RAWs and compare them with later X-Trans sensors.
@marekpuskas6707 They are very nice a have a D700 swell, check out the Fuji S5 cool camera, I have a video about it. ruclips.net/video/C6-13vOzbso/видео.html
One might say that the SOOC look is also heavily edited since there is so many custom setting available.
when I do I lens or camera comparison I prefer shooting raw and leaver them unedited since that what the camera capture.
This is how ever a review I I don't manage to get the same feeling with other cameras as I get with the X-pro1 there is more to it than just editing
@@Kim_Alexander I am not one of those, who need proof, that X-trans 1 sensor have some sort of magic, because I had XPRO1 and loved it. But there are many people, who are sceptical that some older sensors (especially CCD) have different look and want to see difference in colors and tonal gradations. For some strange reason, there are very little youtube videos comparing these atributes.
@@marekpuskas6707 eventually im going to do a film about the D700 but I siyd that of wquite while.
I shoot some with the fist Sony 7A I like the size and the colors of it :D
Its mainly my vintage lens shooter got one with 700 shutter count for less than 300$
Old cameras är fun :)
@@Kim_Alexander 12mpx Sony A7s are regarded for colors, standard Alpha series not too much. And before that, DSLR Sony A900, which has the same sensor like Nikon D3x. In profi Canon line, 1Ds & 1D MK3 has beautiful colors. And as much as I love XPRO1, I like more original X100 with Bayer sensor or even more CCD Fuji S5 Pro.
@@marekpuskas6707 the ccd in the s5 is truly something, I wish we hade some variations in sensor technology today as we had in the past, I just scored an xt1 for 100$ that I pickup this evening.
I heard some nice things with the first A7S used to work some with that in the best as a secondary shooter to an FS7 never used it for stills back then I was working with Hasselblad and Canon so it never made any sense to shoot stills with that Sony
People Say the xt1 also has the same colors
Thanks for commenting!
I have a video where i compare all the x-Trans sensors.
X-T1 have the X--Trans 2 that is different from the X-Trans!
X-Tran1 capture 12 bit raw and X-trans2 capture 14bit raw .
That actually results in slightly different colors.
Heres the film where i compare all 5 X-Trans sensors.

"My all time favorite camera", ok but out of how many used? "People on the internet" will definitely not say it is outstanding in 2022 after 2 generations more of X PRO (2 and 3) for which Fuji has corrected some of the defaults of the X pro1 (weird rendition of greens at times, and not as well-performing auto-focus among other things). Some may like it, often for financial reasons, which is a fair argument but one that should be clearly stated. It was definitely a small revolution when it came out: new sensor, Leica look, OVF and EVF.
Again "amazing colors", "the best" not true (and in fact described in the video as not being the best, especially unrealistic) because the X-tran sensor was new and not yet perfected, definitely improved with X pro 2 and X pro3.
How can a compromise can be advertised when the X pro 2 and 3 have got exactly the same look with improved color rendition, speed, AF.
Why would anyone want a recent camera produce images that look like film??? For those who have used film and know about the idiosyncrasies and specific (off-reality) color renditions why want faulty tools. If the color rendition is accurate which is more likely with digital cameras now than with film, then it is easy to modify it if needed. So I want a camera that provides me with realistic colors first.
Now about the difference in noise it has little to do with the type of photosites used whether the ones in the X-tran or a Bayer-type sensor.
So many inherent contradictions...
@BrunoChalifour, thanks for your comment!
To start, I've been making a living as a photographer for 19 years, working with a range of cameras from Sinar, Hasselblad, Phase One, down to the X-Pro1. This broad experience has shaped my perspective on what I value in a camera.
The X-Pro1 stands out as one of my all-time favorites, and that's a highly subjective choice. While I possess substantial technical knowledge, aspects like autofocus speed don't weigh heavily in my judgment. I've successfully captured compelling images with early Hasselblad H models, which had just 3 focus points, proving that a good image depends more on what's inside the frame rather than the camera's age or specs.
I'm also one of those photographers who transitioned from working professionally with film - yes, I'm that old!
Many of the points you've mentioned are subjective. In my experience, most clients and fellow co workers who been in the game for a long time prefer images with pleasing colors, especially for skin tones, over strict color accuracy.
I value a camera that can perform well in mixed lighting conditions and deliver aesthetically pleasing colors Higher than accuracy. This is where the X-Pro1 really shines for me, offering better results in my workflow than many newer cameras.
I'm not an engineer; I'm a creative professional focused on photography and video for my clients. The essence of my work isn't in the technicalities but in the art of capturing a good Image. The sample images in this video are a testament to the X-Pro1's capability in this regard.
For a detailed analysis of the color differences between various generations of Fuji sensors, I've created a video comparing five generations. You can view it here: ruclips.net/video/KEuObyiTHZI/видео.html
Thank you for your detailed comment. That helps understanding where you come from and your current point of view. By the way I have probably, from what you wrote, a longer and more versatile experience with film photography and as long one as yours in the digital era (obviously). I used Xpro 1 2, 3 and X100 but Leicas (M and Q) improved and I went back to them (at least M) and more recently have been working with Hasselblad X series. Reasons : color rendition and basic purely photographic commands and menus. Simplicity and efficiency. This has made me leave my Xpro 2 and 3 on the shelf far superior “in my opinion” to the Xpro 1 in many respects. All the best with 2024.
