One of the reasons Fuji has succeeded is because of it's users: they are vocal and active. Magazines and videos specializing in Fuji, plenty of online supports from Fuji itself. Fuji is very supportive of it's user base and I think photographers appreciate that.
Exactly!! Fuji literally gives the creatives a sense of community which other brands specifically Sony had missed out on. Also fuji is more like a cult😂 but hey I'm not complaining.
@H M Sony fixed it since the Venice came out, their colors now are quite good. Only Canon and Nikon have somewhat bad colors now, but Sony, Fuji and Panasonic are pretty great
Film simulations and the retro dials are what sold me to owning a Fuji system. Bought the XT2 because it was my dream camera since 2017, only able to buy it now since I’m newly working. Now going back to the film simulations and the ability to customize and use recipes online are a huge thing/time and money saver to me. Sometimes the recipe is just enough to not edit it in i.e. Lightroom anymore (well sometimes I still do when I need to edit RAW). I temporarily paused (or might quit) shooting film since the prices here for a Colorplus 200/Fujicolor 200 is $20 for a 36exp. Which is totally ridiculous. I’m completely having fun with my XT2 despite being a 7 yr old camera. Got the 27mm (41mm equiv.) f2.8 pancake lens and the 35mm Meike f1.4. Both are completely versatile and street photography friendly (not very intimidating to people at all). I previously used the 50mm on my FE2 and on my d300 (80mm equiv.) so this gives me a totally new perspective and I’m enjoying it!
My xt-2 still going strong, bought it when they first came out. No urge to upgrade anytime soon - its just so good. Favourite lens is the 16mm f1.4 - I’ve got four primes and this lens prob does 90% of all my shooting
I got the XT-4 when it was relatively new and I've loved it ever since for both pictures and video. It really pulled me into its ecosystem, and with how they upgrade every iteration, I can see myself using them with better performance and quality as it continues.
I bought an X20 about 10 years ago, and since then, I've bought a couple of so-called "better" cameras, but I find myself grabbing the little Fuji anytime I leave the house. I just love it.
The Fujifilm community is so great. Fujifilm cameras are built solid , the glass is great for the price, they are really fun to shoot which makes you want to pick it up and shoot more. Great video I will be tuning in for future uploads :)
Yes , but … :) I have Sony A7c and Fuji XE4 . Fuji with grip and 35mm VS A7c with 40mm f2.5 G is really close in size .while Sony body cost more , lenses are quite affordable and have aperture ring also.
@@djstuc i have the a7iv and the x-t5 and if you compare xf 33 1.4lm(360g) is much heavy than my 55 zeiss (281g) same for the zoom 24-70gm ii vs xf 16-55 for my macro shot the xf 80 macro (750g vs Sony fe 90 macro 600g)
I have a Fuji X-H1 and an X-T2 and am perfectly happy to use em for years to come. Even the older generation Fujis like mine are exceptional cameras with brilliant lenses to go with them. I think, one of the reasons why people are choosing Fuji over other brands is that a Fuji feels like a real camera and not just like an expensive toy with plasticy buttons and a deep dive into the menu system to change ones exposure compensation for example. In addition, Fujis are very customizable and after the initial setup are quickly becoming very intuitive. I can swap between my X-T2 and my X-H1 and the only difference is, that the X-H1 has no dial for the exposure compensation. Everything that really matters is pretty much the same across all the models of a given camera generation. Put simply... I love my Fujifilm cameras and I would not change them for any other system.
As for me, when it's a picture I really like, I feel like I'll always have a better result working on the raw. Am I the only one? Though I absolutely enjoy the many recipes.
Fuji is killing it on the marketing front and separated themselves with the film simulations. As a long time canon user, the thing that led me to them was the GFX 50s II. Hard to believe a medium format, weather sealed body with IBIS was less expensive than the R5. Unreal
@@JL-vk1rs I mean this is just wrong. Have you even looked at prices online? Decent full frame camera offerings from Canon are a fraction of the cost of a Leica. Come on. Just because you "set your sights" on one of the highest end models doesn't mean the brand is unaffordable.
@@JL-vk1rs Canons arent prohibitively expensive. It's just that the best they have to offer costs a lot of money. But they have excellent offerings for every budget.
@@JL-vk1rs lol what? An entry level full frame Leica is what, $7000? And a Canon? Under $2K? Not even remotely comparable. Canon's most expensive RF mount camera is less than Leica's cheapest M or L mount camera.
Fujifilm having been hammering out so many different bodies and sensor combinations, that the there’s so much choice to suit literally anyone and their shooting styles, and their budgets. The prices will settle down again eventually. I’ll just keeping shooting with my battered but very much trusted and loved X-Pro1. Still going strong and an incredible sensor.
The first few reasons apply to me completely, originally started photography with film as 5 or so years ago there were some real bargains but got too expensive sold some cameras that had gone up in value since I got them and got an x-pro 2 and love it so far
I got into Fuji about 10 years ago, some of their lenses are the best out there. The image quality from many of their cameras are just superb, something about them that is special. People go on about Leica, I think Fuji are in the same league.
Fuji cameras are very clever indeed. I've shot film as a professional for 40+ years, and digital for the last 10...but the convincingly realistic look of film in the Fujis is the star for me. I love the jpeg recipes that you can generate, the possibilities are nigh on endless. The new 40meg chips are more than ample for the GuysWithCameras to photograph pubic hair all day long too!
I still use the X10 from ten(?) years. I know that the technology has moved on since then and I'm already thinking about replacing my main camera. But then there's so much I love about this camera. Compact size, retro design, easy to use controls, zoom by turning the lens and mostly: Natural, beautiful pictures, especially in people photography. For a new camera, I would only consider Fujifilm again.
I like the fact Fujifilm uses the same sensor for all of their cameras. The stills' photography IQ is basically identical on any X-trans III, IV and even V camera. I also like the Fujinon x-mount lenses, that they use on every single APSC camera body. The APSC market being the main focus for Fujifilm/Fujinon, they put a lot of effort and engineering into their lenses, unlike other manufacturers that tend to be all over the place when it comes to the lens mounts, build quality and the rendering IQ.
Been shooting Fuji since the X-T1 and I love these cameras! I dont shoot jpeg or use recipes, but the low weight small size and dials makes them a joy to use.
I've had a X100F since it came out and absolutely love it. It's so versatile and easy to use. And yes, it does only have one lens, but that hasn't bothered me. You just have to be a little creative sometimes. Additionally it can take quite a beating. Mine's pretty dented and bruised, but still works like new. Additionally I bought a XE3 a few years back and use it with either the 16mm or 50mm fujicron. It's great since you can actually just fit it into your pocket or in my case the small pockets on my hiking bag. Plus it takes M lenses with a converter really well, making for an even smaller setup. I still have a M6, but with everything that Fuji offers you don't really need it.
I can relate to what you all said about Fuji cameras. They are really fun to shoot with and they deliver stunning results every time. I have been using Fuji cameras for years and I never regretted it. Great video as always, Goughie. 👌
I love my XT 4. I’ve been shooting with all sorts of cameras for years and it wasn’t really until the XT 4 that I felt like my understanding and manipulation of the exposure Triangle really came into play with the way that I shoot. It’s a handsome, compact camera. Not only that I have shot very well paying corporate videos and head shots with this camera. Nobody said anything about it not looking like it was shot with a more expensive camera. As a professional photographer, friend of mine said, all the cameras today are better than any of us really deserve.
I bought my first x-t10 when it came out. So light and compact, the retro dials are amazing and really good quality glasses for a relatively affordable price. At that time everybody was surprised: why fuji? 8 years have passed and I'm still a happy fuji user.
To me, when my Ricoh GRIII broke 2021, when I looked all options, X100V was closest option. I wanted 1) High X-sync like in Ricoh 2) some level of weather proofing. Then covid and TikTok craze/trend hiked the prices so ended up repairing my GRIII. X100V was 1200€, but now it's 1650€ and no stock.
Just subscribed. I moved to the Fujifilm X system because the images and colours are fantastic, and I can carry around my X-T2 and a few lenses all day in my backpack without my back killing me. Plus, there seems to be a growing amount of lens choices (including some from third party manufacturers!) that cater to every budget. I couldn't afford the prices of full-frame cameras and lenses. I'm happy with Fuji X, and I intend to remain a Fuji shooter.
I used Fuji X-S10 and now using Sony A7C. I'm very happy with the Sony. Low light situation can be happen more often than we think. If you're just vlogging crop sensor is fine, but for photograpy full frame is huge advantage.
Well Sony full frame is more expensive and has much heavier glass to cover the full frame sensor. Personally I am not enlarging raw files or jpegs to large size prints so I do not require or desire the bigger and heavier load. The Sony is a fine product much to love about it, but I switched to Fuji because of the color science and the reasons mentioned above.
Had the xpro3 and i absolutely loved it. Only got rid of it because i needed the money for another purchase. In retrospect, the X100V would have been the absolute best camera for my use since it is quite a lot smaller and weights under 500g. I hope that Fuji is bringing the X100V successor soon
Excellent video, Goughie. As a proud owner of the X-T4, X100V, and X-E4, I'm simply addicted to the look of the images I create, and the ecosystem provides such an excellent bang for buck that I simply have no need for another system. I've also met some of the coolest people I know within the Fuji community, and that goes a long way in making one feel proud to shoot amongst a body of creators who share similar passion and preferences.
Sir i have a ques. When i am taking the photos the red light is blinking, can you tell me what is the issue? I recently bought, its like this or there is some error?
The X100V released the month that Covid kicked off. Supply chain problems created scarcity esp with that particular model. Scarcity pushed up prices on new and many of the older models. Fuji has been gaining popularity for a while, but the scarcity effect probably added to the hype.
I was a long time Canon shooter , had a FF Canon, I switched to Fuji and I love it, bought a used XT-3 , I love the build quality, the layout, the glass and the prices of the glass
It's nice to see lots more people like me who just switched from Canon to Fujifilm for all my professional gear ... the new H2 has been blissful to work with for video and stills. This is not a huge nock towards Canon but the SOOC shots are mind-blowing and it has taken away the "need" to edit everything in post for clients.
Interestingly this is the change I know more of in real life too, Canon to Fuji. I think the annoyance for a couple of them was they were hoping going mirrorless would mean smaller cameras but Canon didn’t get the memo
Been a Sony shooter for 8 years. Got my first Fuji x100v, took it to an overseas doco shoot. Best thing ever. Shot jpgs only with a recipe I like. Couldn’t be happier with final images.
Another reason to choose aps-c over full frame is depth of field. Some types of photography such as street benefit from a smaller sensor for the added D.O.F, it makes zone focusing more forgiving and as a result quicker.
@Not a Clout chaser I have full frame, aps-c, and 1/1.7" sensor cameras and can confirm with experience. Look up on RUclips "smaller sensor depth of field" and there's a few videos breaking it down. When I go street shooting, I often take my Ricoh GRD before my Canon 5D, not just for the compactness but the greater d.o.f that makes focusing marginally faster so I don't miss fleeting moments. Full frame is great for getting shallow d.o.f (bokeh and subject separation) but that is not beneficial for all types of photography.
I switched over to Fuji from Pentax a few years ago, mainly due to being unsure about the future of Pentax as the company felt like it was slowly winding down. I currently own the X-E2, X-E4, X-T30 and X-T5. I love all my cameras, the main selling point is all the manual controls but I also love the jpeg output which makes editing super straightforward and allows for a consistent style across shoots with my custom recipe. I don't see much of an advantage with FF, my Fuji cameras (even the old X-E2) is more than good enough for my needs.
I acquired my FUJI x100V second hand for not much less than the new price. I’ve had inverted a year of incredibly enjoyable street photography. The Fuji film simulations and JPEG results are amazing. Not forgetting the admiration of the camera by many people of all ages. It is a real winner.
DIeter Rams had recognized it so many years ago. It's all about the user interface and the user experience. Apple did the same since its inception up to these days. Fuji recognized it as much as them. Since I saw he original X100 I was convinced they've found the holy grail of digital cameras. Not about specs, but about look & feel, for the same reason Fender Strats and Teles are still so popular. When the tool inspires you, you do more and become better.
For me, I’ve always been a Canon shooter. I wanted something different to challenge myself to grow. Saw the XE4 & loved the look of it. I wanted something a little smaller to take around when I’m out on the go and not my DSLR and I love the look/idea of the film simulations so I found one that wasn’t out of stock & purchase it. I absolutely love it it’s always in my backpack!
I remember a time when I was teased by my own husband, and friends who were photographers, back in 2012/2013, telling me how fujifilm camera system was a niche system and it wasn’t going to go anywhere. Wow how things have changed.
I was under the impression that Fuji lost much of its former attractivity after Sony, Nikon and Canon got their mirrorless cameras out of primary school and made them into serious systems. I'm glad to hear that I was probably mistaken. 😊
Fuji cameras are about as popular as they were before the big three took mirrorless seriously. Which is to say not very popular. Possibly slightly more popular now that Olympus sold their camera division. (Oly was solidly #4 for a while)
They pivoted. They didn't or couldn't compete with Sony/ Canon/ Nikon on pure specs, so they went with the Aesthetic or lifestyle direction. It worked out well because they carved out a nice niche for themselves.
I traded my X100S, Xt20 and Xpro1 for a V and after two years traded it penny for penny for a used digital CL. I couldn’t get on with the constant use of menus and simulations. At the end of the day I liked it but never loved it. Fuji are a good brand and have good cameras but so do all the other manufacturers. It’s all about using what you’re happy with. I still shoot film £5 for a roll and developing an extra £15 for scans if I don’t DIY. I like the analogue experience of film but menus and simulations and just doesn’t work for me
I still love my M6! And I predominantly shoot B&W and Dev at home which really keeps the costs down, let’s hope Ilford don’t start doing a Kodak on us!
I would sum it up this way: Fuji is the only camera manufacturer with an actual professional APS-C line-up, all other main contenders focus on FF. Best compromise of lens size and sensor performance. Still too large for me, I'll stick to m43 … 😁 (Yes, if I had to, I would switch to Fuji. I had my eyes on the X100 series, but still prefer to shoot with my Leica IIIf instead. 😉)
I just recently picked up an X100T second hand, at a pawn shop for $165(only 700 shutter actuations at the time of purchase) It was way too good of a deal to pass up. I'm a Nikon shooter for my wildlife and landscape photography but I lacked an EDC shooter and this definitely scratched that itch. I commute to work daily and the X100T is always in my bag. I will be honest, if I hadn't picked it up for an absolute steal, I wouldn't have considered it touching on the current pre-owned market value for these. It's really fun and I enjoy the film simulations as I was Fujifilm shooter in the late 90s-early 00s when I got as still shooting 35mm. A great experience so far. This video provided a lot of insight on the platforms. Keep up the great content, thank you.
If only Leica had pushed the X range, perhaps incorporating the CL's EVF into an X style body - and then Fuji's x100v would have had competition - and thus hence why the x100v is in such demand, it has little competition and is an amazing bit of kit.
All it would take is a single update from the other makers on their cameras to add their own film simulations. They could even increase the resale value of their discontinued cameras with updates for them, as well.
I picked the fuji xt30 because it was small, just fits in a fanny pack around my shoulder. And I use manual lenses. The experience is very solid so far.
Fuji did very well with their brand image and they made their products recognisable as well as distinguished from the rest. The lineup is just very well thought out and appeals to a specific audience. I sold my big bulky ugly Nikon because I was tired of its bluntness and I am now going Fuji…
So basically an almost zero compromise lineup at a lower price point (with lens options from budget to pro). I doubt I would've settled for fuji on my own, but the hype helped and I'm glad it did. Feels like when I switched from PC to MAC. Just feels right.
I was looking at rangefinder cameras and it was the Fuji xpro 3, or the Leica m10. Yes, one’s a true rangefinder and one is inspired. The inspired one by Fuji was the better choice for me because $1800 vs $5000. I’ve always liked cameras that people don’t have (I still shoot Pentax heavily and a couple of Leica cameras) so it’s kind of a bummer that EVERYONE has a Fuji. But the upside to that is if everyone had a Fuji, it means there should be strong support from the company and plenty of different choices available
Another awesome video! Agree 100% with all you stated. Am really glad (and lucky) to have gotten the X100V before the hype exploded. The little camera is simply perfect for my photography wants. Hyped to see the next trip's footage, have fun mate! Cheers!
I've been using a X-T1 since 2018. I traded a church my Canon M50 for their X-T1. It's what I learned photography on. I've used it professionally and for a lot of art shoots. I just scored a X-H1 on ebay for $440. I have free access to a Dolby Atmos Ninja. So I just got a 10bit rig for less than $500. Even with the now "dated" X-Trans III sensor, the colors are so beautiful! Can't wait to start working with my X-H1!
Great video! Love my x100v and S-x10 + 35mm 1.4R. These two serve all my needs as an advanced amateur photographer. Fuji just makes me feel good when I'm shooting and seeing the SOOC jpegs.
As a landscape guy the Fuji MF system is appealing. 4:3 is a superior aspect ratio for that kind of work (and social media video) so I think it will be on the rise.
@@Station9.75 I would say the craze is because of vertical video and shooting for multiple delivery formats than some "retro" thing. Having said that, I think 4:3 is the best landscape format in my opinion.
@@jessejayphotography yes! This! So Ive actually started recording all my video footage at my desk in the XH2S open gate mode, it makes the video 3:2, which is so much easier to repurpose for portrait video
@@jessejayphotography - I think you’re more charitable than me. I think people mindlessly follow fads. You’re way of thinking is much kinder though. I love a good 65:24 xpan shot for landscape myself.
Waiting for delivery of my first mirrorless Fuji X-T1 found this one with only 500 shutter clicks for $400. I felt my Nikon D7000 was a bit heavy to lug around. Planning to do lot's of monochrome setting with this new camera. I was sold by the reviews here on RUclips. FYI nice video you made here.
Fuji has a huge advertising budget. Their cameras are no better than anyone else's, nor are their glass. I had them, I didn't get along with them and passed them on, and no not everybody is buying Fuji.
Exactly. I have been with Olympus for years, but before that in film days, I had a Pentax K1000 and later a Nikon FM2. I liked both of these but never to the point of assuming they were the greatest cameras ever. A good photographer learns to use the gear they have rather than always be thinking that a different camera will miraculously solve all of their problems. Currently, Fujifilm is enjoying a surge in popularity. In a year it might be some other brand. Who cares? I believe that getting to know the camera you have is key. Great photographs will always follow taking the time to build your skills and developing your “eye”. Cheers to all camera brands!
I just sold my last of a Fuji experiment. A couple of Xt bodies and several fine lenses. I kept all my Leica stuff, Canon bodies and Zeiss primes and I'm back to that. Fuji has that retro look and affordable Leica rangefinder look- but I bought for the glass, size and weight savings when i travel walk streets. As a 28mm guy, I first bought the 18mm and it was great, BUT I hated the APSc and XTrans files. Im doing more Leica again on my shoulder, Q2 and M10R. That was a great 16mm though.
Bought an X-S10 in december 2022. Mainly because I think it's a great deal, even with the X-S20 being rumored to release later this year. Got mine new for 1250€ (Kit with the 18-55mm) and at this price range I still think it's among the best you can get, especially considering their amazing lense lineup overall. By now I also got myself the Sigma 30mm and the Fujinon XF 100-400mm.
I’ve just picked up my first Fujifilm camera, a mint X-E2 and love it. I plan to buy an X-T4 too and am gathering lenses (very reasonably priced second hand I’m finding), great video, you have a new subscriber 😉
I’m an Olympus shooter. Olympus Pen series could’ve had the same hype but I guess it came a bit too early. I’ve really liked my OMD EM-1 mk2 even though the micro 4/3 hasn’t been the sexiest sensor on the market I’ve been very happy with it’s performance.
I think Olympus time is coming! I think Fuji has done quite well at showing people they don’t need full frame, and it’s got people looking at m43 too! I know two people in the last month or so that have bought an Olympus
@@Indi360 the Em-1 line is the best overall. With the highest resolution. And countless other advantages. I’ve been extremely happy with my EM-1 mk2. For Macro photography you do want a macro lens more than anything.
I bought an x-e2 this year. All the other cameras (x-e4 / x100v) are being hyped up to the point of making them way too expensive or impossible to find. The x-e2 was fairly cheap and gave me a great entry to the Fujifilm line. Not the most amazing camera spec wise. But, it's fun and enjoyable to have on me.
The older ones are definitely the best option at the moment! Especially for photography! The older ones can be a little lacking in the video department! They are a lot of fun!
X=E2 has that magic CMOS II sensor... I bought X70 new back in 2016, then X-E3 which I sold and got X-T1 because of the sensor and finally got X-E2 and that camera is pure perfection. Solid ergonomics, small, light, it still have flash... I tuned my own raw presets that I am happy with... great cameras. Love them!
@@bennmurhaaya8518 I completely agree! Just made a video about it the other day if you wanna see some of the photos I’ve been able to capture with it. My favorite camera this year so far! ❤️
Circa 2012, I wanted to buy Nikon 5100. I go to a shop in Taipei and I am physically checking on it. Almost purchased it when I glance sideways to look at another customer who is checking out another camera. He had left it 'on' resting on the counter with the lens being 3 cm from the lens cap. I was shocked with the resolution that I saw on the live view screen. That moment I fell in love with the camera against the iconic 5100. The camera was Fujifilm X 10! It has been the best camera for my macro work (up to 1 cm close up!). At another time, I was shooting some flowers in a garden when a professional photographer, shooting a model, asked me to have a look. After taking a few shots, he handed back with a compliment. I does everything and more what my DSLR DOES, except of course changing lenses but with 28-112 mm equivalent F 2-2.8, it kind of does everything.
Fuji cameras have beautiful ergonomics, very classic, they produce the best quality lenses over other brands and you feel like you are holding a genuine camera. It brings back the nostalgia to real feel of photography.
I started with a X100 , Than XT3 and now i own an Xpro-3 but that has sadly had the sub monitor / lcd failing problem 2 times now even though the camera is not used much with 8500 shots taken. Fuji still charged me 371 euro to get it fixed a second time outside of warranty so im a bit dissapointed in the brand now . Its clearly a design flaw so in my opinion i was sold a very expensive 2100 euro camera that if you want to keep it from breaking you cant use the lcd screen at all because this problem will keep happening. Im not paying 371 euro every 4000 photos taken thats too unreliable. I know one thing im never pre ordering a camera again , better to wait it out to see if problems appear with it. But Fuji color science , overall aestetics of the camera's are unbeatable for me. I was looking into sony alpha system but i notice the files allways look so clinical and too real so i would have to put in way more time into editing a certain look.
That’s really annoying with your X-Pros, I had mine for nearly 20k shots without an issue, I think I’m in the minority of wanting them to go back to a normal screen on the X-Pro4
Feel your pain re the LCD on the X-pro 3. Have two (as I am to clumsy to change lenses on the fly). Both are used fairly equally. The one I bought new had a fail and the one I purchased 2nd hand is so far fault free. Cost me £200 for the fix - 2 months past the guarantee. Just love using them though.
OK, I’ve watched this and part of one other video, and your channel is Gold. Insight, creativity, non-hype, I know there’s more. Keep it up. Oh also, sample images are great, very nice work.
1) Fuji gives gear to RUclipsrs to promote. 2) Their cameras & lenses excel at design, quality and durability/resale value. 3) The sensors & jpg simulations are fantastic.
I have three cameras at the moment; a Nikon 850D, a Leica Q2, and a Fujifilm XT-4. My favorite daily camera...my go-to...the Fujifilm. It's an awesome all around camera.
Yes, Fuji is consistently that great. There are other great cameras by other brands, but they don't seem to consistently offer models that are as user friendly
Fuji stands the test of time. They give such great color, fullness and that perfect amount of realness that makes shots look like pieces of art. My grandmother used a fujifilm for her travels and the photos till today look absolutely beautiful. Its really gives you that perfect vintage, film-like quality and gorgeous colors that last for generations. I have the X-T2 and I love it so much.
I've been through a number of Fujifilm cameras over the past few years XA2, XT10, XE3, and X100V. The thing is, I always loved how they looked and the colors are great, but I could never really get on with them for some reason. I just feel more at home with my Nikon FM2 and Z6ii, those two just feel right to me. One thing that always bothered me about my X100V was the supposed film simulations. They looked nothing like what I got out of my FM2, in fact, when I put the same lenses from the FM2 on the Z6ii I feel like that combo actually resembles each other more.
Fuji is overpriced and overhyped. Poor guys think that only a X100V does cool photos, listening to influencers. Some years ago i loved Fuji, meanwhile i hate it and sold all my Fuji stuff. Poor AF, late in IBIS, if u look at Panasonic, Canon or Sony you get more for your money. Owooowo cool JPG receips... lol.. we all take RAW photos, no professional does shooting in JPG, only influencers do... or says so. Not the camera does a photo, it is the photographer, think about that.
I’d agree some models are over hyped! Not sure about over priced! I wouldn’t do a professional shoot with JPEG of course, But it’s a lot of fun for when I’m not doing commercial work! I’m glad they’ve finally closed up the autofocus and video specs with the latest gen as AF always lagged behind
I'm not sure if people have the courage to speak out realistically, but I think people jumped to Fujifilm as trenders back in 2009-2014. There is a fine line between photographer and photography tech people that make a living from social media or just chat about gear taking very little photos. Also Fujifilm have been around before I was even into 35mm back in 1986 with Chinon/ Nikon and Olympus. 5-6 Years ago there was a huge shift to X100 and XT models because of film sims, and there was also a large Ricoh GR shift for street. Only commercial and business heads moved to Sony or leaving most to move to mega pixels of quality cameras that tailor peoples needs. A lot of people did move from Fuji too Sony then back to Fuji because Sony was too sharp and too complicated or until people made the effort to set custom functions. This channel is great, I have seen a lot of your stuff and I'm not knocking the energy you are putting in. It's just not quite correct that people are just moving to Fuji, in fact right now its quite contra to that.
Wanted to upgrade from my DSLR Nikon to a mirrorless; had the money available; love the retro look (incl dials!) of the new XT-5 and went for it. Absolutely in love with it.
Years ago I bought a Fujifilm mirrorless camera as I thought I needed to change to mirrorless from my Nikon D700. I discovered the Fujifilm camera was to small for my hands, I was constantly fumbling over all of those buttons. Yes I’m still using my D700 and a recently added D850… So far as the ability to emulate film looks in camera, I’d rather edit my photos at home rather than miss shots because I’m deciding which filter I want when I should be shooting.
The XT-30 II with a pancake lens or the XC lens, for the street might be a good bargain and it appears to be in stock. Looks like many Fujifilm are not available at this time. In a rangefinder styled camera for the street, I find the Lumix GX-9 to work well. The IBIS is just a bonus. Really, the MFT line-up of cameras are also great, a light carry, with many compact lenses. Good to see that some Fujion lenses are short -- many look a bit long in the nose to me. If I was getting into Fujifilm, I am thinking the XT-30 II or the XE-4 stand out, though the X100V is interesting. Maybe wait for next model to come out. If using a one lens only camera, I would prefer 40mm, and yes, 35mm, like 50mm has their own following. I bounce around between using 28, 35, 50 with occasional 90mm view for street. Seem to always gravitate towards 50mm, but who knows, things change. - Loren
I shot Nikon, Mariya,a, Hasselblad, Fuji and Rollei as a professional photographer, but since I retired, my fun cameras are Nikon, Panasonic and Fujifilm. I like the lenses. A friend won't use anything but Canon, but I got over brand loyalty decades ago.
I would add, unique to fuji is its DR400 mode: It underexposes the image while upping the mids and blacks. Basically what you do in Lightroom, except this is done in camera as you hit the shutter. Works in JPG AND RAW! This allows highlights about 3 stops of headroom, avoided that clipped look in mid day shots that plague Leicas. You also get tone curves for shadows and highlights. This combo gives this very filmic falloff of highlights that retain highlight detail, even with high key desert shots. If leica did that (which they can, its all software), it would make their street photography bullet proof, exposure-wise. Also the x-trans 4 sensor and processor combo (xt3, xt4, xpro3, x100v, etc) made for very fast cameras, unlike the higher mp xt5 and xh2
I was looking forward to get my hands on a Fujifilm X100V but alas, its always sold out and the waiting time is around 30-45 days wait. I managed to get a pre-owned X10 and brought it with me in my travels. For a 12 year old camera, its very nifty and still shoots amazing photos.
Hard to beat Fuji if you’re not shooting for work. I’ve owned many from most of the X100 line, most of X-E line, several X-T, several X-H.. Recently sold my X100V as it was a travel/backup and I just use an X-E2/27mm setup. I’m betting many buying the V on hype aren’t even using the OVF, ND filter or understand the leaf shutter pros/cons. I do love Fuji and the community is great. Was so used to sharing Fuji images on Reddit was shocked when I got blocked from sharing photos on the Canon forum. I do prefer my Canon for AF I can absolutely trust but for everything else Fuji is amazing. My casual camera now is a GR IIIx and while an X100V fits in a pocket.. the GR disappears in a pocket.. but it’s FAR from as robust as an X100 series…but amazing images from both. Outside of colors/tones/film sims a real benefit of Fuji system is size. I’m currently spending too much time looking for a backpack that holds my TT Retro 7 so I can travel with just 2 bags. With Fuji it would fit in my Retro 5 and I wouldn’t be looking for the unicorn backpack that’s 13” wide and fits under an airline seat… our family refuses to check luggage. Fuji is amazing. Happy to see so many finding them. Tip.. keep an eye on the Fuji ‘retail’ site as the Notify Me button randomly turns to Add to Cart for the X100V. - fujifilm-x.registria.com/products_search/?se=X100V
I have lusted over the Fujifilm X series ever since they came out, but only last year was I able to actually buy one in the form of the X-T10, after shooting for nearly a decade with my Nikon DX system. Right out of the gate I was impressed with the colours even at the standard Provia setting, but then it broke down. I swapped it for a used X-T2 and was going to use it as a secondary to the D7000 until I was blown away further by the improved image quality. It was at this point I just went "screw it" after being given an ultimatum to only bring one camera system to my holiday in Japan and traded the entire Nikon DX system with all its DX lenses for a Fuji 23mm f/1.4. I still have the FX lenses because I still have a Nikon film camera I might want to use and I can try some tilt/shift shenanigans on the FX lenses. Now the X-T2 is almost always on my side, ready for any moment. Used to have an E-PL8 for that purpose, but I passed it to my father who really likes the really compact 12-32mm lens. My lens kit has also never been this diverse either: I only ever got macro capability when I got the 60mm lens (not true 1:1, but it goes close enough), and the 23mm f/1.4 is one that really makes night photography pop. I even bought a Kamlan 50mm f/1.1 just to knock it around since it costed only 90 SGD.
I started my journey in photography with canon, and it was really great. Later in life I moved overseas ended up getting a xt1 to carry on the hobby. At first was very strange for me but as the months went by I enjoyed more and more. In 2019 COVID strikes and I had to sell many things to be able to pay rent including the xt1. Last year I decided that was time to get a camera and ended up getting a canon, funny thing is I did not liked it anymore, felt so strange and sold it after 2 months. Now I’m planning to get back to Fuji again.
i have sony a7riii for 3 years now and recently bought x100v. The x100v is so incredible and it is more fun to shoot with. Also, this camera has a beautiful retro design. Now I need to sell my sony to buy XT5 or maybe ricoh Gr3 for my EDC camera.
You compared a Fuji X100V to a Leica M6. This is stupid, the M6 had nothing to do with the look of the photo. It was mostly down to the film used, and to a very lesser extent, the lens. But, you didn't mention either of these.
And a tiktoker told people to get the camera because you can use the film emulations to not need to edit your images
@H M Sony fixed it since the Venice came out, their colors now are quite good. Only Canon and Nikon have somewhat bad colors now, but Sony, Fuji and Panasonic are pretty great
Is it good for a beginner content creator??

I love my XT2. It's a tank.
❤
I bought an X20 about 10 years ago, and since then, I've bought a couple of so-called "better" cameras, but I find myself grabbing the little Fuji anytime I leave the house. I just love it.
The Fujifilm community is so great. Fujifilm cameras are built solid , the glass is great for the price, they are really fun to shoot which makes you want to pick it up and shoot more. Great video I will be tuning in for future uploads :)
The community side is awesome!
One of the big advantages of fuji is the glas, smaller lighter and cheaper than most full frame stuff. With a really good quality for the price.
Yes! So many people get more value out of a smaller set up than they do an incremental performance increase!
Yes , but … :) I have Sony A7c and Fuji XE4 . Fuji with grip and 35mm VS A7c with 40mm f2.5 G is really close in size .while Sony body cost more , lenses are quite affordable and have aperture ring also.
Well, the 16-55 is as big if not bigger than many FF 24-70 f4 lenses. Other than that, yea they can typically be smaller.
Fuji is bigger than sony ff glass
X-H1 is one of best pieces of hardware ever made by Fuji. X-T2 was most robust X-T ever made.
Film simulations are amazing. It saves so much time not having to develop RAWs. I just shoot JPEG + raw and most times the JPEG is the one I keep.
Which camera are you using? Thank you!
@@enaeva_ Fuji X - T4.
As for me, when it's a picture I really like, I feel like I'll always have a better result working on the raw. Am I the only one?
Though I absolutely enjoy the many recipes.
I love editing a raw photo and tailoring it myself .
That being said I don’t have Fuji and fee their colors are nice and sometimes over bloated
Fuji is killing it on the marketing front and separated themselves with the film simulations. As a long time canon user, the thing that led me to them was the GFX 50s II. Hard to believe a medium format, weather sealed body with IBIS was less expensive than the R5. Unreal
canons are just prohibitively expensive like leica's unless youre a pro or rich. Had my eye on the R5 too but body + lens cost is too extreme

Just say you can’t afford a Leica. It’s ok
@@joshpollack5936 Rather snarky bro.
Well I would not say that Fuji is on Leica level regarding the image quality but the X100V is a very capable range finder.
Compact size, retro design, easy to use controls, zoom by turning the lens and mostly:
Natural, beautiful pictures, especially in people photography.
For a new camera, I would only consider Fujifilm again.
Sell it, as they're selling for far more than they're worth ... ;-)
I own 6 Fuji's and a bunch of lenses. Great system overall. Not perfect, but they definitely offer an enjoyable experience.

The X100V released the month that Covid kicked off. Supply chain problems created scarcity esp with that particular model. Scarcity pushed up prices on new and many of the older models. Fuji has been gaining popularity for a while, but the scarcity effect probably added to the hype.
I got a used XT-1, didn’t have much expectations as I was moving from a bulky canon. I was blown away by the image quality and ease of use ❤️
Also, Fujifilm simply listens to the community and continues to build on that feedback.
Would love to see this proven…

Fuji recognized it as much as them. Since I saw he original X100 I was convinced they've found the holy grail of digital cameras.
A breath of fresh air, such a lot of good sense spoken in this video, and not something you find everywhere on RUclips!
Absolutely love my X100V and the Fuji community ❤
Fuji is fun to use, offers great dynamic-range and are now excellent for video. Win, win and win! 👍
All it would take is a single update from the other makers on their cameras to add their own film simulations. They could even increase the resale value of their discontinued cameras with updates for them, as well.
Film simulation not fuji exclusive: darktable has ones. Lightroom i think also has. Nikon camera also has ones
I picked the fuji xt30 because it was small, just fits in a fanny pack around my shoulder. And I use manual lenses. The experience is very solid so far.
I put my X-T30 in a fanny pack too! I can even fit a second lens usually.
Fuji did very well with their brand image and they made their products recognisable as well as distinguished from the rest. The lineup is just very well thought out and appeals to a specific audience. I sold my big bulky ugly Nikon because I was tired of its bluntness and I am now going Fuji…
Thinking of doing the same thing! From which camera did you switch?
So basically an almost zero compromise lineup at a lower price point (with lens options from budget to pro).
I doubt I would've settled for fuji on my own, but the hype helped and I'm glad it did.
Feels like when I switched from PC to MAC. Just feels right.
I think lot of people love ergonomics of it, vintage look is amazing, plus not everyone can afford a Leica, otherwise nobody would buy other cameras 🤗

You found a gem. Never selling my X-E2. Just picked up X-E1 as well. X-Trans II colors .. wonderful.
Why olympus is best for macro photography please help
@@Indi360 the Em-1 line is the best overall. With the highest resolution. And countless other advantages. I’ve been extremely happy with my EM-1 mk2. For Macro photography you do want a macro lens more than anything.
wow. you are a very nice channel find. straight, concise, direct to the point. to more subs for you!
@@Goughie for sure, if the x-e2 had a little better video and auto-focusing it would be perfect….or basically a x-e4. Lol but yanno!
@@bennmurhaaya8518 It's my favorite of my 5 Fuji's.
I purchased a used XT20 without really knowing anything about Fuji. I fell in love with the film sims and now own an XT4.
Thank you for the the kind words!
1) Fuji gives gear to RUclipsrs to promote. 2) Their cameras & lenses excel at design, quality and durability/resale value. 3) The sensors & jpg simulations are fantastic.
I wish they’d hook me up! 😂
I have three cameras at the moment; a Nikon 850D, a Leica Q2, and a Fujifilm XT-4. My favorite daily camera...my go-to...the Fujifilm. It's an awesome all around camera.
2:20 that giant finger print on the Leica viewfinder window is a damn shame
Yes! I know 😭 I didn’t see until I was editing! Annoyed me too!
I didn't even noticed, who cares
Yes, Fuji is consistently that great. There are other great cameras by other brands, but they don't seem to consistently offer models that are as user friendly
Fuji stands the test of time. They give such great color, fullness and that perfect amount of realness that makes shots look like pieces of art. My grandmother used a fujifilm for her travels and the photos till today look absolutely beautiful. Its really gives you that perfect vintage, film-like quality and gorgeous colors that last for generations. I have the X-T2 and I love it so much.
'Everyone' is absolutely NOT buying Fujifilm cameras. Another expert.
Fuji colors are amazing but IMO Nikon, especially the Z system, produces the best true colors of any system.
I’ve owned an x100f for 5 years now and just sold it for an xpro 3. Fuji is amazing, and as a film shooter it’s finally hit it’s price limit for me.
Long overdue, I’ve been with fuji for years now and they’ve always been the best for creative/artistic folk.
Yes I’m still using my D700 and a recently added D850…
So far as the ability to emulate film looks in camera, I’d rather edit my photos at home rather than miss shots because I’m deciding which filter I want when I should be shooting.
😂😂😂💩
I think the design is the core reason. Also RUclipsrs pumping fujis definitely have helped skyrocket the popularity, especially with the x100v
I would add, unique to fuji is its DR400 mode:
It underexposes the image while upping the mids and blacks.
For a 12 year old camera, its very nifty and still shoots amazing photos.
its so annoying they are so hard to get hold of! not tried the X10! Glad you're enjoying it!
Production cuts.
@@ytr8989 very likely; would appear new models in April
@@Goughie That would be nice 👍
- fujifilm-x.registria.com/products_search/?se=X100V
love my XT-4. Fuji colours are what make them so special but its also a great video camera as well.
Loved my XT4 too! Have a review of the XT5 coming out later today
For me it’s the film simulation and the vintage camera body designs create a nostalgic feel.
Keep the content coming mate 👍🏾
You compared a Fuji X100V to a Leica M6. This is stupid, the M6 had nothing to do with the look of the photo. It was mostly down to the film used, and to a very lesser extent, the lens. But, you didn't mention either of these.
Good video. You answered a lot of questions. Like the recommendations.
Oh, that was good. Very nice presentation 😊
My first 2 digital cameras were Fuji and I loved their colour rendition, then they seemed to lose the plot for a few years so I migrated to Sony.
Still got my 20year old s5000 finepix bridge and i love it. yeah its limited and i will upgrade someday but for the moment i'm happy.
