Hey your welcome glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been thinking about buying the x pro 3 for the last year, I keep holding off thinking an x pro 4 may be coming but I would really love to try one.
Surely the age of the camera at present time is no matter. If the camera is giving you good service and you love using it, then that question does not arise. Just enjoy your photography. I have kept most cameras as from far back as the 80’s and still use them from time to time and still love using my A6400 as an everyday camera despite its age. Unfortunately cameras are being sold as hybrids with the onus on video which I never use as I only shoot stills, so I don’t upgrade as wont pay for a camera that is by and large made for vlogging. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, that’s a good point and I agree, if I enjoy using it that’s enough reason for me to keep using it. The question of is it worth it, is more so directed at other people out there contemplating buying an old camera like this. Your right, these days it’s all about the hybrid cameras that can do it all, rather than focusing on one main strength. Thanks for the feedback, cheers.
Great video Alex! Awesome photography as well. You have some beautiful compositions, combined with the colors from that sensor, make for excellent work! Been wanting to get the Xpro1 (or XE-1) for a while now. Definitely need to track on down!
Thank you ! I really appreciate that, yes the colors out of the x pro are special. I was in the same situation deciding between the x pro & xe-1, i went for the x pro mainly for that hybrid viewfinder. Good luck on your search, thanks for watching.
@@alexbemanian Big decisions, haha! I’ve been slightly leaning toward the pro myself. Just have to pull the trigger. Look forward to seeing more of your work 👍
Thanks Alex, this is great! I have the X-E1 and really enjoy it too. I'm an amateur photographer and I have loved these older cameras much more than newer ones actually. Too many megapixels is a problem too. 16 is just right for me!
Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been really interested in trying the x-E1, looks like a great camera. I agree with you, these older Fujifilm cameras are great, and plenty of resolution for most of us. Thanks for watching, cheers.
I have both X-Pro1 and X-E1... Same sensor and processor, X-E1 is basically X-Pro1 in a smaller body without OVF but better resolution EVF. Files produced by both are virtually identical
I would love to try the x pro 3 at some point. Wow, you got lucky with your x-pro1 repair. I reached out to Fujifilm about my camera issue and they told me they don't service the x-pro1 anymore. Maybe it was because my camera needed some extra parts they don't source anymore.
I love mine, inspired me to get the X-pro3 for shooting speed, but as a camera to relax with, it's output SOOC is amazing--- fantastic and simple camera, make sure you get the last firmware update if you bought it used (I got min on MPB). Cheers and enjoy--- love your photos, you definitely have "the eye" !
Hey, mostly astia film simulation. Yeah the colors straight out of the camera are really great, the velvia simulation is even more vibrant. Thanks for watching
Have bought the X-E1 a year ago. I have held the 3 X-Pro's in front of my eye and concluded that I would have little use of the OVF due to my glasses. I appreciate the images from this sensor. Even when editing them they remain more filmic than the images from my other Fujifilm X camera's.
I can understand that, if you don't have a use for the OVF the X-E1 would be a good choice. The evf on the x pro is pretty good too. I feel the same about the images from this sensor, definitely a filmic quality to them. thanks for watching.
Hi - Thanks very much for your video! I purchased my first X-Pro1 back in 2012, and have had 3 further examples since. I keep coming back to this camera, even though I've got the latest X-H2, & the 2 F2.8, zooms. Forget about the "laggy" processing speed & the indifferent auto focus, this is a stills photographer's delight; I've not had so much fun & enjoyment picking up & using a camera, since the late 1960's (yes, I'm that old!), when using my late father's Leica iiif, & 50mm Summitar lens. This brings me nicely back to considering the most appropriate lenses for use with the X-Pro1. The aforementioned F2.8 zooms will work very well with it, but do upset the balance. However I did retain the original 3 primes, 18/35/60 which are a perfect match for the X-Pro1. Sadly my much used 35mm F1.4 ceased to auto focus & was recently replaced by a cheap XC 35mm f2, found on eBay and which auto focusses much quicker than any prime lens I've so far tried with the X-Pro1 and gives stunning results. I would recommend this combination to anyone looking to regain their enjoyment of "stills" photography! John G. PS. As a spectacle wearer who uses his glasses when using the viewfinder, make sure you have a +1 dioptre eyepiece attachment - it makes a huge difference to the EVF effectiveness.
Hey , thanks for the feedback! I feel the same way about the x pro, its limitations don't bother me and it really is a "stills photographer's delight". I enjoy the 35mm focal length on these cameras as well, its a great all a-rounder. I think your statement speaks volumes about how fun this camera is, how you enjoy using it as much as when you picked up your fathers classic leica, i totally get it. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
I agree with all that you say. I’ve had a +1 and now a +3 diopter lens, been using my Pro1 since 2012, I own many bodies but nearly always revert back to my Pro1 and X-T1.
Nice video Alex, I have a XE1 and really like the BnW SOOC. But whenever I shoot coloured JPEGs I find the highlight is super easy to get blown out, I'm wondering do you under-expose most of the JPEGs and bring it back? Thanks!
Hey, yes I have the same issue on the x pro. I generally underexpose anywhere from a quarter of a stop to a full stop and the jpgs look great. I use a pro mist filter and it helps with the highlights too. Xe1 looks like an awesome camera , would love to try one day. Thanks for watching , cheers
That’s awesome, any of those lenses would be great. Every photo in this video is shot on the 35mm f2. It’s my favorite focal length and it’s small/lightweight
Thank you ! Yeah the old Fujis still produce the goods. Most of the video is shot with old canon fd lenses, plus some added grain, and diffusion filter. Hope that helps, cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it. The shutter mechanism wore out over time. When I bought the camera the previous owner had told me it was wearing out. It got to the point where It wouldn’t fire so I kept pressing it down harder and harder until it complete broke and didn’t fire anymore. It was just due to heavy use over all those years.
Inspired me to dust mine off! I have the 18mm F2 and 35mm F1.4 which I love, but they are slower focusing lenses - curious to try either the 23mm F2 or 35mm F2 as I hear they have faster autofocus. Thanks for the reminder this is a fun camera that's definitely still worth shooting!
That’s awesome, I’m glad to hear that. I have heard so much about that 35mm 1.4, I was tempted to get it instead of the 35mm f2 but I found a good deal on the f2. The lens Af is surprising fast paired with the x pro 1, the only thing that slows down is the cameras processing as you probably already know! Thanks for watching, cheers
Hello Alex, beautiful stills indeed. Do you get those colors results directly "out from the camera" or have you applied any settings or presets on them ? Colours are so gorgeous.... thanks
Hello! Thank you, only the photos labeled jpg are straight out of camera. You can achieve really pleasant colors straight out of camera with the Fujifilm simulations but I do like to edit the raw images. I have my own preset I created to mimic my favorite slide film and I plan to do a video about how to achieve that eventually. Thanks for watching.
thank you! for the raw images, i bring them into lightroom and usually start with the Astia color profile. Then just adding a little contrast and adjusting the white balance as needed.
It’s hard to say since the prices have gone up so much in the last few years. $500 is reasonable. Anything more than that, I would put the money into something newer instead
I still shoot from time to time with my first digital camera 18years old, 8 megapixels Canon XT and people don't believe me when I show them the photos it produces. A decent glass and an interesting composition and you can get great results even with a camera that is "legal age" 😎
That’s awesome, love hearing that. It’s pretty amazing what those old cameras can do, especially with a good lens and interesting scene like you said! Thanks for sharing, cheers
In searching for one now . I have two huge ff Canon dslr with big fast lenses , love them but they are so big so i only use them for planned shoots and i want to go back to everyday shooting again like i used ro always do . I just want something simple to use and being able to use vintage manual lenses with and the experience and joy to use is so Much more important in this case then tpp notch af and image qualty and thats why i think this is the perfect camera for me for that
I have felt exactly the same way for years, it's refreshing going to a compact setup. Its nice to have the fast lenses, i would still hold onto them. One thing about manual lenses and the x pro 1, focus peaking is pretty hard and its not exactly the best experience, its probably the only complaint i have. It is totally doable but if you can afford the x pro 2, i've heard manual focusing is much better on that camera, mostly because of the evf. Im working on a video right now shooting with the x pro 1 and some vintage canon lenses so maybe that will help, thanks for watching hope you find a good setup.
mine cost around $275, but i had the shutter unit and the switch rack holder replaced. if your button seems to be wearing out, try not to press harder to make it fire. I made that mistake, which is why i needed the switch rack replaced. if you only need the shutter it could be cheaper for you, reach out to video cam repair and maybe they can help you out. good luck!
That's awesome, both cameras cover everything you need. I've wanted to try that 25mm lens because of the compact size. I just got the ttartisan 27mm 2.8 and its also a great combo.
@@alexbemanian definitely a fine combo, I was also thinking which of these to choose. I have the 35/1.4 for situations where autofocus is needed and for landscape the Ttartisan 17/1.4.
@@alexbemanian I've done that twice.. with the xp1 and bought back the exact one I sold.. Interestingly enough I have done the same with the m8, I have bought this camera 3 times....Not selling it again..
@@christopherrodriguez7223 i know exactly how that is. wow, the funny thing is before i bought the x-pro 1 I was on the hunt for an M8 for several months and they kept selling before i could get one and i watched the price of them double in a matter of a few months. i really hope to get my hands on one some day, those ccd colors look great.
Ah that's a bummer, I know the feeling and I have done the same thing many times! But, I have never heard so many people regret selling the X-Pro1 specifically. Thanks for watching.
It's a beautiful camera, still capable of amazing pictures. If you ever make the mistake of comparing its performance to newer models, you will end up frustrated. If you exclusively do the kind of photography where you have all the time in the world, go for it.
Hey , it’s all personal preference , if you had them all sitting on the table, which would you grab first? I favor the x pro body style but I’ve never had an xt camera, there all good choices.
Help! I have an X Pro-1 from 2013, never used, still in the box. I want to take it on vacation next Spring. What lense(s) should I buy for portrait, street, and low light? My budget is $700.
I have some questions if someone can answer. I shoot a Nikon D700. I am a beginner who has spend many years looking at the camera hardware. I have realised that I actually love the Fujifilm colours. I just read a review where the guy is saying he likes classic neg and another simulation; and they were not on the pro 1. Also, I am not sure if I want a range find style. Maybe I do, I just don't know. What is the difference between the different camera body styles? I would be interested in a body with interchangeable lenses. I believe that this range finder style is pretty expensive. I would prefer to spend less rather than more. I would prefer a more recent model than a later one but I would want to spend more money if that extra bought something desirable. I would prefer the older model if the new model's pricing didn't deliver the value. Things like materials used, nice ergonomics and the right clicks, and functional additions with more expensive models or with newer models. Not interested in video. I looked at this a year or maybe three ago and I think the XE 4 was the cheapest and the newest. Well I just wanted to ask those questions. Thanks for any replies.
Hi , thanks for your feedback. If you like Fujifilm colors, there are lots of different options for you to choose from depending on your budget. True rangefinder cameras focus differently than slr cameras, which is the main difference…any of the Leica M cameras are true manual focus rangefinders. The Fuji cameras like the x pro series and Xe series have autofocus and would make a good choice for you, hope this helps. Good luck
Had mine since it was launched. Have much ‘better’ and more capable cameras- but I can not part with the xpro1. It’s perfect for the city breaks where I’m a little nervous to take my M10 for fear of someone snatching it from me
If you've had it that long I'm sure its even harder to part with. I do the same thing with mine when I'm out in the city, I would love to get my hands on an m10 at some point!
I've been looking for an everyday camera that gives me manual control. 16mp is more than enough for me. I set out thinking x100, but I'm now trying to decide between the X-E2 or Pro1. I like an optical viewfinder, but also a slightly newer firmware with faster processing 6:44 of the X-E2 appeals also. I guess either will suit, it's a nice decision to have to make!
Can’t go wrong with either option. If you favor the Ovf then an x pro or x100 would be the choice. I complained about the speed of the x pro 1 but I’m now use to it and it doesn’t bother me anymore. If you could find an xe2 for cheap that would be a great choice as well , good luck
i’ve been shooting with the x10 for a while, i love it but it seems to have a slight buffer every time i take a photo. even on manual focus it takes a good second to shoot which can completely lose the moment. does this have the same issue or can i just get an immediate shot with no waiting on manual focus?
I can see why that would be frustrating..if your in Manual focus & continuous shooting mode, it will let you shoot 6fps and it’s surprising quick right off the bat. If your in single shot mode, after your first shot, there is just a slight lag in between shots so probably about the same as your having on the x10. As long as you stick to Manual focus it’s not too bad, with AF it’s way worse
I keep hearing the X-Pro2's second gen X-Trans sensor is a big upgrade to the X-Pro1's. Anyone have any experience with both? I'm trying to decide whether I should sell my X-Pro1 and get the 2.
I have considered the same thing but not so much for the sensor, more for the upgraded viewfinder and shooting speed. I’ve never tried the 2 but I’m sure it’s a nice upgrade especially if you don’t have to pay too much for the difference in price. I’m waiting to see if Fuji comes out with a version 4. If not I’m going for the 3
Well I got the XE-1 They say it has the same sensor like the XPro 1 For me I think the XPro 1 produce better photos Maby because it’s has something special about it like how the processor of the XPro 1 render the colors and the image in general… So far until now I couldn’t find a good used XPro 1 here in Germany but I will keep looking… By the way try the 7Artisans 25 mm with the XPro 1 man You will enjoy it …
I’ve been really interested to see images from the xe-1 and the x pro 1 side by side. Check out eBay you might be able to find an x pro for sale. I do like the ttartisans lenses, I’m going to be testing a 27mm soon. Thanks for watching!
I can NOT find any information on focusing with the optical viewfinder can anyone help I can NOT get a picture out of the x-pro1 with that focusing method Can anyone explain??
The x pro 1 optical viewfinder is really only useful for its frame lines, you can’t actually manually focus with it like an old film camera. You can use autofocus with the optical viewfinder though. If you use the evf, then you can utilize the focus peaking and manual focus. I think the newer x pro 2 and 3 have an updated feature when you are using the optical viewfinder and manual focusing , there is a smaller box in the corner that is like an evf and you can see when your in focus, x pro 1 doesn’t have it. Hope this helps

Look forward to seeing more of your work 👍
thanks man! Either way you go, both cameras would make a great addition. cheers@@jdsd771007
Great video man :) loving your photography - fabulous compositions :)
thank you, i really appreciate that!
Files produced by both are virtually identical
such a nice vibe on this video. I love this camera, and I hope a can find one for myself soon. Loved the pictures.
Thank you , glad you enjoyed it. Hope you can find one, it’s a great camera!
I have the XPro 1-3 and enjoy them all. Fuji accepted my XPro 1 a few months ago to repair a non responsive button and it came back like new.
I would love to try the x pro 3 at some point. Wow, you got lucky with your x-pro1 repair. I reached out to Fujifilm about my camera issue and they told me they don't service the x-pro1 anymore. Maybe it was because my camera needed some extra parts they don't source anymore.
I have one and I use it all the time. It's always with me. It's heavily brassed but it reminds me of an old, beautifully used Leica. Great camera!
I’m the same way, mine goes everywhere too. I call it my budget Leica, it is a great camera! Thanks for watching, cheers
I still have my X-Pro1 from new. Of all the camera's I own, I still find myself coming back to it.
That definitely says a lot if you’ve kept it all these years! I’m the same way, I keep coming back to it. Thanks for watching
Such beautiful photos! Really well made video too, great work
Thank you very much! I appreciate that. cheers
Got one before the price gone up as my fully manual B&W only camera ,as a placebo to the expensive film camera experience, worth it.
That’s a great way to put it, I feel the exact same way. It makes a great dedicated b&w camera. Thanks for watching
I use mine the same, totally B+W I dialed in a goid monochrome recipe
Love your vids bro 😎 super cool and informative
thank you, i appreciate that !
Love the vibe of your shots! Nice review, Alex :)
glad you enjoyed, thank you!
Nice video, I have the same feeling, it's such a fun camera to use and to keep. Much appreaciated, thanks!
Thank you ! I’ve really enjoyed my camera, but I have been quite interested in trying the x-pro3. It would be great to have a little more speed.
What recipe were you using for these? I love how vibrant the colors are right out of camera!
Hey, mostly astia film simulation. Yeah the colors straight out of the camera are really great, the velvia simulation is even more vibrant. Thanks for watching
sensible review and some great shots ,bravo
Thank you, I appreciate it
Great video, your photos are amazing ❤
Thanks glad you enjoyed it !
Love it, have 2 myself! Makes you slowdown but the results can be stunning.
I totally agree! I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a second, there a lot of fun for sure. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Inspiring pictures too.
thank you, much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed
Nice video. I love shooting my X-E1 for most of these reasons.
Thank you , yes I can totally understand why. X-E1 looks like a great camera.
@@ianwinning5721 that’s awesome , I have been really interested in trying to x-t1. Those old Fuji cameras are great, thanks for watching!
Thanks! Great video with good examples
Thanks glad you enjoyed !
Thanks for watching , cheers
gorgeous shots!
Thank you !
Yessir, I’ve been using the xpro1 for 3 years now. Bought it with start up issues for 150 euros tho
That’s awesome, you scored a good deal. Thanks for watching
Love mine so much I bought a second one last week before they get too expensive.
Good move, the prices have gone up quite a bit since last year.
Fantastic sample images, really inspirational
Thank you , I really appreciate that. Cheers
What lens did you use ?I am getting a x-pro1 and can’t decide between a fujifilm 18-55mm or a fujifilm 35mm f2 or a fujifilm 23mm f2.
That’s awesome, any of those lenses would be great. Every photo in this video is shot on the 35mm f2. It’s my favorite focal length and it’s small/lightweight
35mm f2 my walkabout lens
perfect review! thanks so much.
Thank you
Hey mate! Love the video, the Fuji really holds up. Curious also what your using to record these videos? The footage is so dreamy :)
Thank you ! Yeah the old Fujis still produce the goods. Most of the video is shot with old canon fd lenses, plus some added grain, and diffusion filter. Hope that helps, cheers!
Beautiful images! I will now consider making a purchase…
thank you! it's a great camera
hard to find this xpro 1 now, i end up bought the xe3 with kamlan 50 f1.1 mk2 .. this little banger setup is beast📸
That sounds like an awesome combo! I’m hoping to pick up an XE one of these days too
I really enjoyed watching the video. I just have a question: do you know why the shutter dial stopped working all of a sudden?
Glad you enjoyed it. The shutter mechanism wore out over time. When I bought the camera the previous owner had told me it was wearing out. It got to the point where It wouldn’t fire so I kept pressing it down harder and harder until it complete broke and didn’t fire anymore. It was just due to heavy use over all those years.
I still have an X-Pro-1 but because of the weather sealing and dioptre adjustment capability I prefer the X-Pro2. Both are still great cameras.
I can understand that, i do wish the x-pro 1 was fully weather sealed. Definitely great cameras, thanks for watching.
Nice video man
Thanks Ryo ! 🤙🏼
lovely photos and review, i have one and i love it to bits. how did you process your images
thank you! for the raw images, i bring them into lightroom and usually start with the Astia color profile. Then just adding a little contrast and adjusting the white balance as needed.
@@alexbemanian awesome awesome
What is a good or reasonable price for one used?
It’s hard to say since the prices have gone up so much in the last few years. $500 is reasonable. Anything more than that, I would put the money into something newer instead
Subscribed.
Hope to see many more videos on your channel.
Thank you I appreciate it, more videos for sure !
nice video, thank you
thank you!
Curious about the cost of the shutter repair cause mine is starting to misfire
mine cost around $275, but i had the shutter unit and the switch rack holder replaced. if your button seems to be wearing out, try not to press harder to make it fire. I made that mistake, which is why i needed the switch rack replaced. if you only need the shutter it could be cheaper for you, reach out to video cam repair and maybe they can help you out. good luck!
Ive read on some forums that having a soft shutter release makes the shutter more prone to damage, any thoughts on that?
I have also the XT2 which I use when I need the speed, but the X-Pro1 together with the Ttartisan 25/2 Pancake is a great combo to get out with.
That’s a great combo you’ve got, I’m hoping to pick up the 35 1.4 at some point too.
I very much loved, the xp1, very capable camera for anything. I sadly sold mine as it just wasn't getting enough use.
I agree, very capable. I get that, i usually sell off my old gear that doesn't get a lot of use as well. Sometimes i end up buying it again
I’m a bit of a collector of great classic DSLR cameras. Would really like to add the XPro 1.
if you appreciate those classic cameras, i think the x-pro1 would make a great addition!
do you have any videos on your editing process? beautiful.
I will be doing a video on editing soon, thanks for watching
Simple answer - I owned one four years ago. I sold it. I regret selling it probably more than any other camera!
I couldn’t agree with you more, well said. Thanks for watching !
great work, love the music here as well, could you name it?
Thank you, let me look into the music names and titles and get back
I love the xtrans 1 sensor. Use it all the time
Same here
X-Pro1 is still my favourite camera
Same here !
Lovely video.
Thank you, I appreciate it !
Excuse me! What color are you shooted? I very happy if you share because I have it too
Hey, most of the images I use the astia soft color film simulation. Hope this helps!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hey Alex. I’m torn between X Pro-1 and X T-1 which one should I go for? I should I just go with XT10?
Hey , it’s all personal preference , if you had them all sitting on the table, which would you grab first? I favor the x pro body style but I’ve never had an xt camera, there all good choices.
Help! I have an X Pro-1 from 2013, never used, still in the box. I want to take it on vacation next Spring. What lense(s) should I buy for portrait, street, and low light? My budget is $700.
wow, brand new in the box, thats epic! I would recommend the fujifilm 35mm f2 or the ttartisans 27mm 2.8.
Hi, is the eyepiece cover original? I found hard time to find a replacement.
Yes this is the original eyepiece cover , it is pretty hard to find replacement parts on these really old cameras unfortunately
Did you use any filters for the camera? Like a mist filter
Yes, I use a 1/8 pro mist
I’m still debating between the xpro 1 and xpro 2 😢
Lots of different factors to consider, either would be a great choice. All depends on your budget and expectations
keep going man
Thanks man, will do !
can you connect it to a monitor via hdmi and video card and acts like a big liveview screen during video recording?
That’s a good question and I’m not exactly sure, I’ve never tried to shoot video with this camera. But I don’t see why you couldn’t do that
Absolutely still worth it. Best xtrans ever !
Agreed !
Where did you get the hot shoe mounted level?
I got this one from amazon, search "hot shoe bubble level" it should come up.
If you could find an xe2 for cheap that would be a great choice as well , good luck
is there any wireless remote compatible for Xpro 1?
I’m not exactly sure , that’s a good question
Can I ask what len did u used?
Xf 35mm f2
i’ve been shooting with the x10 for a while, i love it but it seems to have a slight buffer every time i take a photo. even on manual focus it takes a good second to shoot which can completely lose the moment. does this have the same issue or can i just get an immediate shot with no waiting on manual focus?
If not I’m going for the 3
You made me feel much better using my 2011 Nikon lol. I really don’t need all those new bells and whistles.
Love those older cameras, if they get the job done then why not. Thanks for watching
LOve your images (and video)
thank you , i appreciate that!
Well I got the XE-1
They say it has the same sensor like the XPro 1
For me I think the XPro 1 produce better photos Maby because it’s has something special about it
like how the processor of the XPro 1 render the colors and the image in general…
So far until now I couldn’t find a good used XPro 1 here in Germany but I will keep looking…
By the way try the 7Artisans 25 mm with the XPro 1 man
You will enjoy it …
I’ve been really interested to see images from the xe-1 and the x pro 1 side by side. Check out eBay you might be able to find an x pro for sale. I do like the ttartisans lenses, I’m going to be testing a 27mm soon. Thanks for watching!
Pasadena sick
There’s some dude in Montrose that worked on my gfx and fixed it also.
Good to know, especially cuz Fujifilm doesn’t always service some of the older fujis.
Can the screen be turned off while shooting?
Yes I believe it can be turned off
what is the lens you use?
Mostly the Fujifilm xf 35mm f2
Whats the lens you used?
Fujifilm xf 35mm f2
Is it good for astrophotos??
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be? But I have never tried. If you need extremely clean high iso shots this might not be the best for that.
@@alexbemanian i am an amature phone photographer but i wanna upgrade to a camera .
