@@tallshort1849 He acknowledges it in the video you absolute dunce. He even calls out his own players but in the same breath asks why when the boks do it do they get penalized and when the Lions do it they DON'T. Maybe watch the video.
This video is actually totally legit. It should be done after each test to make refs actually accountable for the calls they make. If that's too much, then the rules should be simplified.... overdue
So this is a rant according to PlanetRugby and other UK media outlets? They clearly need to open a dictionary and look up the word "rant," because nothing about this fits that definition. Sure there are things I may not agree with, but nothing about this qualifies as a rant. He's super respectful and provides evidence for his points. He's clear and composed.
@@bensenzo It’s not the British Media or the fans, World Rugby have called Rassie in to explain this hour long whinge on RUclips, quite rightly to, it’s an embarrassment to the Springboks
@@bensenzo Have you ever heard any other international rugby coach spend an hour on RUclips dissecting every part of the game and moaning about how they felt hard done by… I don’t think so… He sounds like a spoiled child
Well I’m British and during the match even I could see the refereeing was totally inconsistent and did appear to be biased against the springboks. Good video.
In a previous comment I mentioned that I don’t know Rassie Erasmus personally. The guy is so passionate about SA rugby that he is willing to put his career on the line. He knows that complaining about refs will put him in the firing line from everywhere. But he is so passionate that he doesn’t even care. What a guy. He is the person you want in your corner
I don't think Rassie is too worried dude. You have any ideas how many club teams or international teams would want him as a coach? This oke could walk into any rugby organisation and lead it well.
Well done former head coach Rassie. You inspire and your passion for rugby and the country is infectious. Do not ever back down. South Africa supports you.
Rassie you're a brave man! We needed someone like you to fend for the boys, not like your predecessors. Initially thought you should have kept quiet and focus on the 2nd one, but now understand where you're coming from. Takes a man with "balls" to do what you have done. Proud to be South African. Now go and close the chapter like you guys have done in Yokohama!!!
Thank you Mr Erasmus , thank you , Thank you ! Finally , we have someone who actually cares deeply about our Nation and her Jersey ,who is prepared to put himself in the firing line to see justice ... I salute you Sir ! Thank you . May God continue to provide you with strength and wisdom .
Totally agreed Marc. Good on you Rassie. IRB sghuold be ashamed of themselves for taking they action they did. Personaaly I feel there is a surreptitious opposition against The Springboks.
Rassie makes some really good fucking points! Came here to just see what everyone (northern hemisphere) was complaining about, but he's got some pretty solid arguments here. Good for Rassie for releasing this
@@SNIPERG647 Did you even watch the video or the match for that matter? You clearly didn't because there is a clear discrepancy between advantage given and as for moving forward... Uhm yeah there was none
Finally someone called out IRB for the inconsistencies we have all been moaning about for years. Couldn’t have come from a better place. Rassie you legend
Agree 100%, but you know we are going to come out of this looking like whingers. To be fair, I believe the Lions were the better team overall and deserved their win, but for the love of all things holy, can we finally get some referees who are actually decent????? Since Nigel Owens retired, we have been left with the absolute dregs.
Most fans are frustrated with in the anorthern and Southern hempisphere. Its a tough old job but it is so irritating in 1 game a guys higg tackles and its red/yellow and fine thats the law move on. But in another match just a peno. We just consistency. On the other hand i get tbat there are a million variables, different refs, good mood, bad mood, did the ref shoot their load that morning etc etc. So is it just part of the game and we have to accept?! I dont know
@@harrycowleshc I think the inconsistency is from game-to-game, which is inherent in any high speed contact sport officiated by different humans (American football, basketball, hockey). At a certain point, you need to accept that as the vagaries of sport. The problem here is that Rassie implied there was an inconsistency (and bias) within the single game & referee. His evidence were single plays here and there, but he is absolutely missing or ignoring similar missed / non-calls. There are dozens of borderline side entries, not supporting weight, not rolling away, etc that go unpenalized in every game because the game would take 3 hours if you stopped for every borderline ruck. We want refs to use some judgement because there are multiple factors involved in each decision / non-decision. In some cases, there were inconsistent errors (the advantage length). It was an acknowledged mistake - and those happen. But Rassie’s laundry list was nitpicking to show bias or unfair treatment, rather than natural human error. While there were a few legitimate questions, he hurt himself by making it a laundry list of nitpicky calls. By the end, it truly did feel like nitpicky whining by a guy to an audience that probably isn’t objective. But as an objective observer, it didn’t really improve my perception of him because of the “victim” card he attempted to play.
@@Karma-qt4ji I'd be interested to hear Nigel's response to this. I had the displeasure of having to listen to him enjoying the limelight and Will Greenwood commentating on this game and he was all rah rah rah go Lions.

As a Springbok fan, I read a few things about the video. I immediately thought “What have you done Rassie?”. I’ve played and watched rugby for all my life. I have never blamed a loss on a referee (except for that World Cup game against Australia). The Springboks are expected to just take all the bad decisions and be grateful that we’re allowed to play in the first place. (That was me being a tad hyperbolic). This video changed my mind. We can’t just sit back and take it anymore. I don’t know Rassie Erasmus personally, but I know enough of him to know that this wasn’t just some sore-loser petty rant. This needed to be said.
So taking what you said on board are you willing to take the consequences of your players in the 2nd test, cause World Rugby have seriously shirked the issue. ?
Shaun.... you couldn't have said it any better. SA has always been on the crap end of poor ref decisions, this didnt start with this test. We always had to dig deeper than any nation to be on top. New Zealand and England are famous for the media games... where they called out for that? I agree... I applaud Rassie for standing up to this treatment.
I'm Scottish, and I'm not sure anyone can justify why Hammish Watson didn't get at least a yellow. There are some people complaining in the comment section about Rassie Erasmus doing this, and TBH there needs to be a frank and open discussion about referring inconsistency in all of rugby, the easiest and most well-known example being the "Farrell Tackle" a tackle that if any other player done would see them off the pitch for 10 mins.
He's also in a better position in his current role to reply in the he has, I think he's perfectly welcome to bring up inconsistencies in how the rules are applied.
As a neutral from NZ I completely agree with Rassie here and have a massive respect for him to have the guts to make this video knowing full well he can get in trouble from World Rugby. The guy is an absolute legend who is extremely passionate about rugby and the Springboks. I am looking forward to another epic All Blacks vs Springboks test match in a couple of weeks
Well done Rassie! Every rugby lover in the world has waited for someone to step up and take on the management of world rugby. You have our full support and we respect you immensely. I had a lot of respect for you as a player and even more as head of SA rugby.

The only luck the Lions had was in not having "Rassie" as their coach. All he does is coach the Springboks to prevent other teams playing rugby and then moan when they get beaten by "inferior" teams like the Lions.

Got a feeling the blow back might be huge! But his critic and concerns are so on point, hard for world rugby to ignore, it's physically painful to watch. 12 years waiting to play the Lions, the occasion deserved better than Berry and co. dished up..
I remember watching a video about Graham Henry talking of him watching a replay of 2007 defeat of Kiwis against France and he said he saw something like 27 French infringements that cost them the game. He said he got so sick to his stomach that he nearly (or did, cant remember) puke. Its gut wrenching to see the poor referreeing. No wonder the Lions got in the front foot in the second half because they were not blown up...
Ja when that nz ref blew the Boks (strongest team in the competition) out of the 2011 world cup in the most one sided display of refereeing I have ever seen, world rugby did nothing and the asshole even got a promotion. This shows how serious they are about consistency and fairness. It's about brands and which brands can make them the most money. Right now lions are the most lucrative brand for them.
Looking forward to see how World Rugby responds. He does have points but so did many other coaches ( not Rugby directors) prior to this. They how ever did not go on social media with this approach. Agreed, there needs to be just and fair refereeing, but surely there is another approach to making your point. Remember when we were all lighties playng not just Rugby, that you never questioned the ref...
I’m A British lion fan & I missed a lot of these infringements on game day.. It’s shocking! You can’t argue with facts & something just ain’t right about this.. Does anyone know if it’s the same officials on Saturday?
this is nonsense. The bulk of these incidents are down to interpretation. If you cut eighty minutes of test rugby up, you will get 10s if not 100s of interpretative rulings, that - if framed insincerely and chosen selectively - can form a video like this. Not a video built on facts; a video built on opinion. This video is an embarrassment to the sport. A couple clear big calls (Watson's tackle for example) go the wrong way, and Rassie can't get over it. Cringe.

Dayyum! Rassie went to town on this one. England here, but I can't fault what he's saying. I'd like to see the "other way" video he mentioned, but I suspect it won't be anywhere near as lopsided in terms of poor calls as we've seen here. Boks were shafted. As a lions fan Rassie made some very good points here, I do not think the refs decisions were intentionally against SA. However, the narrative of this clash caused the ref to not treating both sides fairly. Sours the win in my opinion.
None of this would've been an issue had Warren Garland not made the comment of Maruous Jonker being South African/biased. That's what really set off all this bs. Marius was too damn scared to even point things out to the ref (who was atrocious at spotting anything)... Even stuttering when talking on the mic. Unheard of from a guy who's been a TMO for decades. Warren tried to get a psychological edge by resorting to some underhanded psychological tactics, and Rassie came back with the biggest chess move he's seen yet, and is now using siege mentality, Afrikaaners Laager mentality to galvinize his team. Huge mistake from Gats
@bmhiscd1 we don't care. Lions tour happens every 12 years. Any tactic that gives us anything to needle on we'll take it. Remember propaganda is not about whether or not it's true, but rather how it makes people respond and behave. If Bok players think the ref and the world is against them, it'll be job well done by Rassie
@bmhiscd1 so trying to get one of our best payers in the world Faf De Klerk cited is NOT petty, suggesting the TMO is SA biased is not petty. Feel for you having to do this. (Lions Supporter). However ref was inconsistent at best. Not great help from line or TMO. Pity, as two great teams with great characters who have much respect for one another who tried all the tricks in the trade on top of their outstanding skills, to get the job done. SA got too many bad calls which makes the win 'less attractive'. Good luck in the next match and lets hope the game is refereed with consistency.
Thank you for the comments. I must say, I have lost a lot of respect for the Lions. Used to hold them in high regard. Not this outfit. Seems Gatland wants to win at all cost. I have lost respect for him too. They were disrespectful and shameful in their conduct on Saturday.
You are probably the only one in the Isles seeing this. About halfway through the second half got so fed up with the ref that I started to look for his mistakes rather than watching the rugby. Not a good idea. Maybe its time al four refs have equal say in the game. Why waste the other three's skills/time if the referreeing can be top notch like in American football.
Rassie you have a place in my heart. And your emotional intelligence is off scale my brother. You did the right thing. In the right way. And that's how all of us need to learn how to protest. Effectively.
BIG respect to Rassie, he called out so many errors without making it personal, based on facts. What a world we'll be living in if he gets sanctioned for telling the truth because he was ignored when he did follow the chain of command. Rassie you legend.
Rassie, great video! I always respected you and now even more! You did the right thing making this video and I know how you feel. We supporting you all the way here in Shanghai China!
The bias against the Springboks is no longer surprising. I clearly remember right after the recent WC the Europeans(excluding the French) were loudly discussing proposing laws to kill off the bomb squad.
We had some though calls but that is not the reason we lost, lions were dominant in the 2nd half and we might be struggling from match fitness. Go watch the world cup final web had many calls go our way and rightly so as we have been on the wrong side of refs more often. We need to man up physically the 2nd test and take the ref out of the game
@@johnnypickles5256 What happened in the world cup final is your team got their panties pulled down, mate. Like every game there were some good decisions and some bad, for and against both sides, but as a general rule, you lost the game because you had no answer to the Bok team. Are you sure you aren't just butt hurt because like so many England fans you thought you just needed to take the pitch and the trophy would be handed to you? For the record, all we want is a fair contest. We most likely would have lost anyway, but let's level the playing fields first.
The very first time Rassie caught my attention was when he was innovating methods of communicating to the Free State rugby team from the roof of the Bloemfontein rugbystadium. I took a liking to him then because he is not afraid to put himself out there. (Western Province Supporter) Interpreting the rules and realising that he can carry water onto the field and provide guidance to his team like any head coach would LOVE to do during a game shows that he is constantly working at how to innovate within the framework provided by the rules of the game. To consider this video a plain old rant is WAY too superficial. What Rassie has done here is more than that. He has brought into the open what has been festering for too long. As South Africans we have been vexxed with this anomaly for decades now. Why are referees sometimes so blatantly inconsistent? We are super proud of the Springboks. We like that other countries respect our team for the physicality and heart they bring to the field but we loathe that we are branded as being underhanded dirty players. Rassie is clearly depicting that - although we aren't without fault - we are trying to play the game by the book yet we seem to get the short end of the stick more often than we should. Now we know why. The inconsistency comes from behind the scenes. What is agreed to prior to the game is not consistently metered out on the field. Our boys re trying to comply not only with the letter of the law but even with the whims of the interpretation of the adjudicators of that law. And even then we are left standing, wondering why the law applies to us but not our opponents. The crux of this is about equality and respect. both teams want to be treated equally. Both teams want to be respected. This requires the referees to be consistent but above all: It requires World Rugby to be consistent and a heck of a lot more transparent. Rassie has just put himself out there yet again to innovate and bring transparency to millions of South African supporters who now have a much better understanding of what he has to deal with. I am heartened by commentors on this thread from England, Ireland and Scotland. (might have missed the Welshman) who watched the game and agreed on the points highlighted by Rassie. I am sure they can also recall many games of their own teams with referee calls that left them shocked. I am sure they too would like to watch rugby where the teams respect each other, the referees respect the team captains and the game being refereed with consistency. After all, it will make the beautiful game of rugby even more enjoyable to watch. So, to all in a huff because Rassie did what others before him didn't dare to do - Tough Luck. To all those thinking this is just sour grapes - Please delve deeper. To all those in agreement - Thank you! And to all those who LOVE rugby, know that you will always find a kindred spirit in every South African who will cheer, laugh, swear, cry, sing and celebrate alongside you. Even if our team lost. Because we love rugby and a good game won, commands our respect.
We absolutely need more of this. Not unsupported moaning... ACTUAL CLIPS AND SOLID EFFIDENCE. As a developer, I've actually wanted to start a website before where footage of ALL incorrect decisions are made clear for each game, with incorrect counts, subsequent ref ratings etc.... a public driven site like for example Superbru, but one that could grow and gain credibility and eventually maybe make these extreme inconsistencies clear for everyone to see. I am so so glad Rassie did this, I have even more respect for him now. Why should an unfair system be above the law and untouchable? That makes no sense and just breeds a big boss mafia system. Equality all around, transparency, and freedom of speech.
Rassie I have always had huge respect for you as a player, a coach and now even more as a director of Rugby and the fact that you had the balls to do this, what you showed here needs to be shown to the Rugby world this is not the first, Nigel Owens our game aganst Aus in World Cup.
I'm glad that at least my eyes didn't deceive me during the game. I could see the clean-outs from the side, the pulling-back of Mapimpi, Kolbe played in the air, Duhan receiving the ball in an offside position, Duhan lifting Mapimpi's legs and that skew lineout. And yes, Watson should've had a yellow as Beast got a yellow for that in the QF against Japan. The legs went past the horisontal. All these transgressions could be seen live, without a TMO. Rassie really stuck his neck out here, but I respect him for it. I have no idea how this will affect the series.
I agree totally. During the game I started to doubt my knowledge of the rules and didn't know what to think after the game. Now it's clearly placed in perspective by the greatest coach and former Springbok Rassie Erasmus 🇿🇦🏉
So you didn't see the saffas not holding their weight in the rucks and diving in a downwards trayectory? Didn't you see the high tackles? Or fafs knock on, never even shown on tmo. As for the tackles, fafs was nothing and Watsons was do soft he sang a lullaby on way down. If you lot ever play rugby league you'd be crying, can't believe all this moaning
This was very informative, well said and thought out. This is what the Director of Rugby should be doing, while the Head Coach focuses on the game of hand.
This aged like fine wine. Well done Rassie. I believed you leveled the playing field. Now all the teams received horrible calls in the WC 2023. And now they want to complain while they criticized you when you made this. Good for you!

Every Pacific island team should release a video like this after any of their games against a tier 1 country. It will be at least 4 hours long. Fortunately SAF is a big enough country and world cup winners that they won't just be dismissed out of hand. Good on Rassie for taking this risk though as the frustration levels have probably reached a point where many fans are turning away from the game.
Nope they hate south Africa just as much as you feel they hate the Pacific islander teams. And now after the world cup every single country is complaining about the referees while criticized Rassie for this video. I have no sympathy for them in any way.
Thank you Rassie for taking the tinme to compile this video. It was quite long, but i did find it enlightening. First off - i am Scottish - so lets just put it out there. 2nd. - What a fantastic coach you are for SA. i just loved the twist on the water boy! Master stroke. All these people who said you should not do this... WHY? 3rd. - Referee and TMO sadly influence games now. More than I would like. We play in an era of replays, slow motion and multiple viewings, and that is so harsh for the officials. i do not like to discuss their impact, it is on the day as they see it. Some you win, some you lose. i think SA lost the first test decisions - for whatever reasons. Being scottish, I will agree here with others Hamish should have been yellow carded. No discussion. I was shocked when he was not. That COULD have made some difference. I think the fact he is not even in the 23 for 2nd test shows Gatlin knew that also. All these discussions and arguments. But. At the end of the day, we saw a close physical encounter between 2 great sides. 4 small nations against 1 big one. Ba ba Touring side against World Champions. what fantastic entertainment. i do believe the Boks will come back to take the 2nd. i am not happy that Gatlin has decided to try and close the series out with experienced heads who will play defensively and not play exciting rugby. But then - i am a fan - not a coach. So what do i know? All i DO know, is that this series has created so much buzz for me and my 14 year old son. So much discussion and analysis on the situation. Love it. You should know here in the UK, we are not blind to how officials can influence games. Its kind of sad that now becomes part of the captain (and coach) job to influence. Lastly, fair play for taking the time to explain your thinking and actions re officiating. My take on the series is simple. we know all the background factors. they change all the time. on the field, there should be no excuses. if you are better, you should win. Whichever side this is. Pray no controversial decisions for 2nd test, and lets play. If it goes to a third, then hell yeah - bring on the decider. In this time of troubles and covid complications, we all need these clashes. To live for. SOULFIRER
Well, think about it, if you dont give Hamish a well deserved yellow which was for all to see except Berry, doesnt it speak volumes how this ref approached the game in general - anti-Bok?
I agree with a lot you said. As an ardent Bok supporter. I fully understand that Rassie is basically doing what Gatland pre-match did last week. I was furios about the loss last week, and like Rassie I am a firm believer in fairness. I want to see Rugby win. I hope the Boks channel all this energy into the next two games, and show their metal on the field as this is becoming like WWE now. My coach used to say that you mustn't talk much. Let your play do the talking on the field. That is where it matters.
Well done Rassie, thanks for this great dissection and that you stand up for the Springboks. We really played excellent and was not rewarded at all. Secondly we where treated like shut. Thanks for viewing this out and because of this I have the world's respect for you.👍😉😌
This is not the first time refs are discriminating against the Springboks..seen it hundreds of times.. Well done to Rassie for saying enough is enough and asking the questions that needs answers!
The only team the boys don't get away with murder against is the kiwi's A stronger ref in the RWC semi final and wales would be reigning champs and not the boks
You can see Rassie's line of thinking here - he's making the pundits and the writers and the talking heads discuss HIS antics. If you watch Chasing the Sun, you will see what a big deal the constant criticism had on the mental state of the players - that whole thing about le Roux telling Rassie not to field him because he was just inundated with social media criticism. Rassie is now squarely taking centre stage - notice how all the rugby sites are talking about Rassie's madcap antics and NOT talking about Kwagga's weakness under the high ball, or how the replacement front row wasn't up to snuff, or the fact that the Springboks got bullied at mauls. Rassie is directly putting himself in the firing line and allowing his players to just focus on their game before the potential decider this weekend. Absolutely brilliant.
Brilliant point! All I was thinking was that the audio was great and that in Chasing Of Sun Rassie motivates the boys by making an enemy out of them. No doubt he will use this to put venom in their veins and get the Boks riled up. I really hate the fact the ref pretty much discarded whatever Kolisi said and treated him in a condescending manner. Going to be one hellava test…… and hopefully fair
Unprecedented whinging. It's actually pathetic seeing a head coach recording a 1hr plus video piece like this. This has to be nipped in the bud before it sets a precedent.
Some beautiful sarcasm mixed in amongst a very educational analysis of the game. Love it. Nobody can say that Rassie isn’t an asset to World Rugby. We need characters like Rassie in our game. Wears his heart on his sleeve, fights for his players, has great passion, courage and quite clearly knows the game. In years to come, he will go down as a legend and one of the instrumental figures in transforming the Springboks into a machine that represents all South Africans.
Notice how people say Rassie is being sour but they don't argue against his points. They have to call him sour cause they can't fault his talking points regarding these poor on-field calls.
@@calrugbyfan Calls go against you sometimes - 100% correct - not almost every call through out the game!! No Conspiracy - just typical of World Rugby and how the view the springboks - Just look at the first match against the AB in the 2019 WC - same thing!

I'm just making an observation that Rassie's character is being criticised whilst his points in his explanatory video aren't. The bone of contention is not whether Rassie is whining. The bone of contention is whether this is the standard of refereeing we should accept in our sport. Rassie says no and I agree with him.
Pathetic shroud waving. I’m expecting Ali G to turn up any minute and ask “iz it coz I iz black?” No, nothing to do with what country or continent you are from. Bad losers and their brain injured coaches I guess?
It was utterly disrespectful the way Siya was dismissed by the Refs... respect to Siya for not playing the Race card, though I almost feel that is what's happening here.
True! As I watched it, I actually felt sad. I initially asked but why didn't Siya challenge the ref in Saturday's match( apologies), and then I saw this clip. 'Sorry Siya'.
What an awesome video. I saw 50% of this during the game but it takes real rugby knowledge to see it all. I can't imagine the frustration of the coaching staff on the day. Big up to you Rassie for calling this out! All we want is a fair game.
Rassie Erasmus!!!... If you close your eyes and just visualize it for a moment, you will start to hear it echo. Rassie Erasmus! Erasmus!! Erasmus!!!. A great name that echo's long after you've left the field or the building... or the match has been played. World rugby has never seen such honor bestowed on the Waterboy until now. Keep up the good work Rassie as a fellow waterboy it means everything to us.
Good man Rassie. Appreciate your passion and that you actually care. The northerners won't get this but that's their issue. Good luck for the weekend. Let's level this.
This is moaning, its ok to care, but this is dribble. Have your team ever lost a game in rugby where you could not do a video saying poor us. Its the nature of the game, you dont always get all the calls, and sometimes it feels unfair, it balances out. This is just stoking up attitudes with supporters that are not balanced, the better team won on the day quite clearly. SA need to turn up in the second half and the game was theirs.
@@davidroseitg HAHAHAHAHA the better team won are you blind? This isn't moaning these clips are evidence of egregious officiating. Lions would have lost that game if just one OF the penalties were called correctly/consistently. Take your pick. There's about three clear yellow cards in the entire game. Keep in mind that Gatland complained about this in the SAA game. You've got your head up your ass bro.

I watched this match with my 11 yr old daughter. Even she screamed at the ref during the game. I don't know what it is folk have against SA Rugby - but it's no longer a joke. The world NEEDS the Springboks. Well done Rassie for calling this out. It's time someone takes a stand.
I like that this video might spur some action on world rugby's part, and I understand why Rassie comes across sore, but I can't get over the fact that it's like a child who loses on Sports Day. These kinds of mistakes happened vice versa, the ref missed SA infringements too. These kinds of mistakes happen in every game, six nations, aus vs pumas, literally everything. I like this in the sense that it goes through in such fine detail over an important game, but I do feel this kind of thing could come after the series. I do feel it's been tainted by all this media slander and nit picky behaviour; play the rugby, the better team will win. There are so many points to be made over the last decade of referee decisions having a large contribution to the game, I just think why choose this exact moment to start moaning about it, and use the justification of 'Gatland asked if Faf should have a red instead of a yellow', or 'i wonder if the TMO appointment will have an effect on the game'. You can't have it both ways Rassie, cant complain about it then go and do what you've complained about 10x over. I'm British and have tried to be unbiased but that's my take, any thoughts?
Consistency, respect, and no favouritism, is what SA Rugby fans want. Well done on bringing this out, and even better that Everybody can see and understand. Hats off to you for bringing this out
Finally, someone has come out to call out the obvious inconsistent calls. Rassie is great for rugby as a whole. He actually has the balls to call out the BS. The sideshow was started by Gatland, Rassie just asked for fair play.
The one thing you should never do is to be cheated and you say nothing. I'm with Rassie on this and I hope the second test is the most phyiscal encounter the Lions ever saw. Clean, hard and memorable rugby that the Springboks win. That's how to fix this.
@bmhiscd1 bullshit, there were clear and obvious infringements that could swing a game, especially a tight one. You are one track minded if you believe that the officials got all the calls correct. Sure there will be the human element but obvious inconsistencies and turning a blind eye to clear offenses is unjustifiable.
@bmhiscd1 Look in which half the majority of the penalties that were not given were. Hard to ignore that the Lions' sudden advantage in the second half had nothing to do with the dodgy calls by the match officials. Not saying that there weren't dodgy calls that went unnoticed in the first half. Calling SA a salty bunch after crying over the first game for two weeks is also hypocritical, don't you think?
@bmhiscd1 I'd say you're looking through rose tinted glasses because you want to believe the colonisesr and co. are a better team than what they actually are.
Thank you Rassie. I was so frustrated at the disrespect and double standards last week that I felt there was no point in even watching the rest of the series. That's a hard thing to admit to yourself after a 12yr wait. 😔
I felt exactly the same. What's the point of watching these test matches if one knows that a clueless Australian can wreck the most important test of the three? Hope our boys can overcome the odds tomorrow.
@@leeofdoom4452 sorry but I can't agree. There were too many critical errors made by him at crucial times. Australian and NZ refs and SA rugby don't mix. French referees aren't great but they usually make mistakes both ways. British refs are generally the best but they cannot blow in this series.
He actually got every critical decision correct, and even favoured SA by calling every on field decision as try when he should have. The only miss was Watson's tackle needing a yellow card. I also thought after giving away 6 penalties in and around their 22 SA were lucky not to get warned or carded themselves. Outside of that, he was good, he's just being targeted by a coach who wants to influence the next ref!

That's not what's happening... Kolisi is walking toward the reffing team, he's ushered away, as AWJ discusses with a different ref, he's at a distance from the ref team and walks away approx 3 seconds after Kolisi... Kolisi has always had an issue with refs, it's his weakness!
Kolisi walks up behind a ref team... That's error number one, as a decent level ref, being taught not to allow players to sneak in behind you to listen is important. Error 2 he doesn't keep a distance like AWJ did Error 3 is there is a high profile 'water boy' near by, SA director of rugby is on the field. That's a massive red flag to a ref. Rassie states he told Kolisi to ask a question... Truth is AWJ is talking to a ref, and doesn't harris the 2 while they are speaking to the TMO. AWJ walks away 3 seconds after Kolisi does. AWJ is an accomplished ref worker, Kolisi has never developed that talent.

I dont know
@@harrycowleshc I think the inconsistency is from game-to-game, which is inherent in any high speed contact sport officiated by different humans (American football, basketball, hockey).

Ben O'Keefe for test two...

Maybe its time al four refs have equal say in the game. Why waste the other three's skills/time if the referreeing can be top notch like in American football.

So what happened in the world cup final??? That was some of the worse international refereeing I've seen, no complaints there???
Almost like a Hello Peter for refs lol. I like it.
AI that determines acceptable error margins for referees in real time. Do it.
Rassie I have always had huge respect for you as a player, a coach and now even more as a director of Rugby and the fact that you had the balls to do this, what you showed here needs to be shown to the Rugby world this is not the first, Nigel Owens our game aganst Aus in World Cup.
We stand behind you Rassie! Its about time for someone from SA rugby to speak out.

Good on Rassie for taking this risk though as the frustration levels have probably reached a point where many fans are turning away from the game.

Absolutely brilliant.

nic berry might soon be under a little more scrutiny than planned, a little less protected by the system than previously expected?
Same old same. Sour LOSERS always blame the ref.
@@wpdaffue3966 then be bold and point out which one of Rassies concerns were unfounded? He was still being polite. Some of these things were so blatant that you might even have a case for match fixing. The crowds usually point out these poor officiating decisions, but hey when no one is watching lets chance our arms. The blatant bias and obvious infringements lets the hair on my neck stand upright. His officiating was at schoolboy level my guy. And that is being generous. One or two marginal calls are acceptable and understandable and human but this is just plain dodgy guy and goes beyond ‘sour grapes’...rugby lost out here
@@eti-om2gh couldn't have said it any better tjom. These Lions supporters are so fucking delusional it's actually scary. We can all accept marginal calls even if we won we'd still be calling out the bad officiating.
Rassie defends the boys like a dad!
I’m reading Miracle Men right now and this is an example of how analytical he truly is..
So sad that the level of refereeing is this bad. Springboks are against it all. Coming from a pure rugby fan in Italy.
I agree, very very poor refereeing!
Bollocks, whinging nonsense
@@johnnypickles5256 you seem to be in the absolute minority with that opinion. Have a scroll to see how many Lions supporters empathise with this. That's the cool thing about rugby, and what makes it (for me) a gentleman's game still. Respect and honour.
@@aidanbotha6556 yup this Johnny Pickles is trolling all the comments.
@@johnnypickles5256 you are cleery bias the word bollocks confirmed it I am South African but am fine with lions whinning a fair game and we just found the problem be being said also have to say that it is not the lions fault
Good job Rassie!! Thank you for
defending our boys!
It's by time someone speak up! Respect!
About fkn time someone speaks up. Piss poor refereeing.
28:00 "then we could of practiced that" hahaha I love this guy.
I watched this match with my 11 yr old daughter. Even she screamed at the ref during the game.
I don't know what it is folk have against SA Rugby - but it's no longer a joke. The world NEEDS the Springboks. Well done Rassie for calling this out.
It's time someone takes a stand.
My 11 year daughter was the same. It's not easy to tell them to soak it up when we want them to treat others fairly. Good lesson I suppose.....
The sheer number of mistakes is almost actionable. I understand why Rassie had to come out and do this.
The number of mistakes will be determined by world rugby and the ref educators...
Not the losing teams director of rugby lol

Delusion!
The one thing you should never do is to be cheated and you say nothing. I'm with Rassie on this and I hope the second test is the most phyiscal encounter the Lions ever saw. Clean, hard and memorable rugby that the Springboks win. That's how to fix this.
You really did not watch the video, did you?
@bmhiscd1 I never sai I won't listen to something you had to say so there's no real merrit hehind that but okay.
This kind of refereeing is generally called corruption, how much money did the ref. have on the game?
Thank you Rassie. I was so frustrated at the disrespect and double standards last week that I felt there was no point in even watching the rest of the series. That's a hard thing to admit to yourself after a 12yr wait. 😔
I felt exactly the same. What's the point of watching these test matches if one knows that a clueless Australian can wreck the most important test of the three? Hope our boys can overcome the odds tomorrow.
Berry was decent to those who know what they're talking about...
@@leeofdoom4452 we'll have to agree to disagree. My bias against specifically Australian referees is probably showing but I do like to see myself as a balanced critic when it comes to referees. It was embarrassing how this guy treated Kolisi, but the latter did not do himself any favors by coming across as uncertain and hesitant. He was not nearly as streetwise as Jones.
Well done Rassie. Much respect for standing up for your players. Dont let these haters get your head. No one understands and feels what we as Springboks go through each time these Refs cause us a game
Rassie we’ll always totally respect you for honesty thanks for your passionate. Well done
Long, but accurate analysis. Consistency is the key, from refs. On this analysis, the inconsistencies are glaringly obvious. The match result can't be ignored now.
The backlash will be insane from this video. But good job Rassie, glad you spoke about it. We can't wait 12 years for this and have these problems.
Well said, I just hope it isn't a case of falling on the sword sort of thing and world rugby just brushes this off.
@@dussilver5712 Yeah, I hope so too. There is also lots of people saying this video is salty and all but I am pretty sure he sent a similar video to WR so what's wrong with this.
Saying that, refs were a big problem in the 6N so let's hope it doesn't spill into these last 2 tests.
Yeah! As long as the nasty, violent, eye-gouging side of Springbok rugby doesn't rear it's head due to this blatant incitement of this sickening display, we might get a decent game of Rugby!
@@oldmanwillyboy2786 yes and I hope no sh-t stirring and off side head butting by the likes of BOD and 99 calls eather. Yes then you are correct, we may get a decent game and OH SORRY equal application of laws and advantage calls by the ref. MORON

Brilliant Rassie, thank you Rassie. Excellent tutorial for me: Refereeing for Dummies,Rule nr. 1 consistency and fairness
Look at that useless excuse for a referee waiving away our captain around 20:40, fuck that's unacceptable.
No player has the right to refs attention, I have away captains constantly!
@@leeofdoom4452 you may "have" them away all you like mate. "Having" one captain away while talking to the other one is BS.
The complaint here is about equal treatment and equal respect, a point that you've missed completely.
That's not what's happening...
Kolisi is walking toward the reffing team, he's ushered away, as AWJ discusses with a different ref, he's at a distance from the ref team and walks away approx 3 seconds after Kolisi...
Kolisi has always had an issue with refs, it's his weakness!
@@leeofdoom4452 seems like excuses mate. We all know what happened there, it's on video.
Kolisi walks up behind a ref team...
That's error number one, as a decent level ref, being taught not to allow players to sneak in behind you to listen is important.
Error 2 he doesn't keep a distance like AWJ did
Error 3 is there is a high profile 'water boy' near by, SA director of rugby is on the field.
This video deserves nothing but positivity. What was said was long overdue
What was said was manipulated and biased lol
Calling out refs on social media will land you in trouble
Thanks for the educational review Rassie. You helped me understand interpretations of rules I was genuinely not aware of. Looking to the future I hope both sides walk away with a clearer understanding and just like any other industry improve all round on delivering a product. Good luck to the British Lion's and the Bokke. Love your work. Go Bokke!
