Another great video I have all the coils 8 inch 9 inch 11 inch and the big 15inch coil love the 9 inch coil my go to at the moment get your self some snake skins for the coil lead gives it some protection and look cool Looking forward to the next video with the 9 inch ok shaune in Kent 👍👍
It was a good video. A good hunt. Here are my thoughts for improving a 'comparison video' such as this one: You find and identify (off camera, prior to filming) a dozen or so targets of varying strength (some good, some iffy, some irony...etc). You mark those targets (paint, ribbons, whatever), then you scan ALL of them with the M9 coil. Don't dig them yet. Make sure to capture (on film) the tones/sounds and also the screen view (VDI and Target trace) for each target. Again, don't dig yet! Now, go back and do the same with the M11 coil, but this time, digging them as you go. When you EDIT the video, you edit it as follows: Show M9 scanning target 1, then show M11 scanning target 1, then digging it. Repeat for target 2, 3, etc. This allows the audience to see (and HEAR) the differences/nuances between the coils/targets on a per target basis. 🙂
@@sc_marauder492 hello, first of all, thank you for taking the time to write that out and give me some tips. There’s definitely some things I would do differently on a video like this in the future, as you say and most importantly I feel would be some way of marking out the signals and comparing between the two. Once again, thank you for your comment and should I make a video like this in the future I will definitely take them on board! - Jake :)
Mr Pedantic here. But would a fairer test not have been to go over the same side of the field with both coils to determine which one picked up more of what was in the same ground? Either way, some lovely finds - and thanks as ever for sharing👍
@@bwc1878 hi mate, possibly, but you could then argue that whichever coil ‘goes first’ gets first dibs on items on that side of the field. I thought about how to make it fair quite a bit. I even thought about 10 items with each coil and whichever picks out the best wins? Unfortunately I don’t think there would ever be a fair way of doing just by the nature of detecting. Thanks for your comment as always tho buddy :)
Newbee here. I purchased the Manticore in August along with the M8 and M15. I live in an area in the United States in which oil was discovered in 1859. 95% of the area around here is forest. I've discovered many old 1860 oil wells and have pulled up many oil relics. But no coins yet. I am still trying. Thanks for the Video.
@@n3ocl amazing read and welcome to the hobby! What sort of relics have you managed to fine? If people were working there, there will be coins for sure! Keep at it 👍🏽
Great video mate, some information for you that I was given on one of my videos.....not all buttons we find are lost, farmers used to use old clothes to help fertilize the fields and over time the fabric rots away leaving the buttons behind....I never knew this until someone told me 🙂

I wish you could have marked off a section of ground, marked each object with ID number, target number, and red flag, then going back over the same area with green flag for m-9 coil to see which coil discovers more targets, but still enjoy the video
I have been debating whether to get the M9, looking at your test it seems to find better items at better depth. Could you tell me the settings you used with the M9? Thanks
@@stevenevans2979 hiya mate, would definitely recommend it. You don’t lose any depth, if anything I’d say I’ve found items deeper than with the m11. I do run it with 25 sensitivity though so that may be why you can pick things up deeper? I run my manticore with the basic factory settings, recovery 5 and adjust sensitivity according to the field etc. I have found the standard manticore settings have done really well for me. Thanks for your comment 😁
My personal opinion is, all the bells and whistles we are promised each time a new machine or coil comes out is all part of an ad campaign. I think a large part of metal detecting is luck. Luck that you happen to walk over the right thing at the right time.
@@raymondberry9482 couldn’t agree with you more Ray. Luck that you walk over it and a decision at that point as to whether you then dig that signal or not. 👍🏽
there is no diff between the 9 and 11 both coils will do the same and find almost same depths the 9 was designed more for stubble and for finding tiny bits between iron that the 11 may sometimes miss.its just another way for minelab to make more money.if you walk over it any coil will pick it up.
