    I was given a computer with pop os on it but it was nothing like this version. I was having the hardest time doing anything. Using another computer to flash pop os, I was finally able to get a more user friendly version working on it. Thank you so much for the step by step guide! Much appreciated 🙏

    I love the way screenshots are done on Pop OS and how there's native screen recording right from the same key. Basic features that don't even exist on Windows without the need to having to download a third party for a seamless experience.

    • @a.9589
      @a.9589 5 месяцев назад

      Theres Windows + Shift + S, which is for screenshots and it's just like pop os. For screen recording theres the game tab thing Windows has natively

    • @itsAlzatron
      @itsAlzatron 5 месяцев назад

      @@a.9589and all of that can be done a lot more simply by pressing the print screen key once on Pop OS as opposed to Windows.
      Why else do you think third party screen capture software on Windows i.e Lightshot are so popular? Because Windows native screen capture software isn't seamless especially if you're gaming.

    I just finished installing Pop! OS, the final step is to restart the device, or shut down and start later. When I restart the device a screen showing Try or Install Pop! OS appears. From what I've seen this is just a normal thing that happens, then when the white text starts flashing through the screen, between all of the OK's there is one Failed I can see for a brief moment. Then the Pop! OS installer shows again as if I hadn't installed it before. How do I make it go away, since all of the functionality is there, why does it keep asking me to install?

    Hey Jacob, I am thinking of taking the plunge from Windows into Pop or Mint over Christmas. What is your opinion on partitioning for two Operating Systems versus simply going over to Linux? Do you know of any issues. For context, I have a relatively new computer (2021 purchase) and Windows 11. Do you know if this will cause problems?

    • @NerdOnTheStreet
      @NerdOnTheStreet  2 месяца назад

      Partitioning is how I started, but Windows has made it more difficult over the years. If you're comfortable booting into a live disk to fix the Linux bootloader from time to time after Windows updates mess it up, then it can still be a great option.

      The new screenshot feature is built into GNOME Shell. You can choose to use a different screenshot tool, and/or remap the keyboard shortcuts in Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts (you're looking for `Take a screenshot`, `Take a screenshot interactively`, etc. under the Screenshots category).

    hey helpful tutorial but i have a question, do you think with wsl is it nearly as useful as it was before to run a full fledged Linus distro

    • @NerdOnTheStreet
      @NerdOnTheStreet  2 года назад +1

      Of course it is, just as much as running Windows was still useful after WINE was created. I prefer Linux for its user interface, administrative control, stability, open-source security/freedom, and lack of anti-features that other operating systems have. You won't get any of those things using the WSL.

    If we choose not to encrypt while installing pop os, can we do it later by any chance?

    • @NerdOnTheStreet
      @NerdOnTheStreet  5 месяцев назад

      Not easily, because you won't have a LUKS device in place to set a password on (and you might not have the LVM config for it in place, either). You'd basically have to copy your stuff somewhere else, format things for the encryption, and then move your stuff back-- and at that point, you might as well just reinstall.

    Hey man could you answer a few questions I have? So I have a ssd where I have my Windows and a hdd where I want to install pop os. So can I install pop os on the hdd and still use windows which is in the ssd? If I do will anything from my ssd be effected? And how can I switch between the two? Is it through the boot menu? I'd really appreciate it if you could answer these questions.

    • @NerdOnTheStreet
      @NerdOnTheStreet  2 года назад +2

      I would recommend you unplug the Windows SSD, install Pop!_OS on the HDD, then plug the Windows SSD back in. It's not actually required, you could just select the HDD in the Pop installer, but it will eliminate the chance that you select the wrong drive. After that, you can switch between the two OS's/drives using your BIOS/UEFI boot menu.
