      is there a video where you go over the safety of the chem. sunscreens, for example the actives in black girl sunscreen and the trader joe one? I really like the TJ but I looked up the ingredients and now I'm confused if it's ok to use daily. BGS original formula, breaks me out. So i use it neck down until I finish it. Love the TJ one.

    Great Video! I used to love Korean sunscreens, but I notice I have been getting a very slight white cast with some( beauty of Joseon included) only I can clock it, but that is the problem. I do like k-beauty sunsticks. Japanese sunscreen though is where it is at. If you are avoiding alcohol then J sunscreen may not be for you. The alcohol isn't damaging (at least to me) , it just for a more elegant /weightless formula. Nivea watery sunscreen and Kao/ Biore UV watery essence are those gurl! I have dry skin and I love them. No white cast! The oily gurls LOVE them too.

      My mom who is half a shade lighter than me might be able to get away with it or my I'll give it to my SO since he's much lighter than me.
      I have dry skin since the Aztec "decimation" clay incident of '16 and can't do alcohol based things as much.

      heyyy y'all! some of the Asian sunscreens contain titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide so that could be causing the slight white cast you see. You might have to search through the ingredient list before buying a new one next time---though having titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide doesn't automatically mean it'll have a cast. Tinosorb M is another ingredient sometimes found in Asian sunscreens that could also *possibly* cause a slight white cast

Only down fall is it doesn’t dry down so it makes make - up on top look very dewy. Searching to switch to a primer that can mattify the COTZ because I really like it. It feels protective. My forehead usually gets dry and it doesn’t with this but I feel this texture on my skin I don’t know if I like: maybe if I stopped touching my face. I think it probably works well under makeup as a primer. Otherwise I don’t see myself gravitating towards it. My sister loves it. I've tried the Make it Pop gloss and enjoy the smell. However, after licking food off my lips I noticed it didn't taste anything like vanilla, more like sunscreen 😂. The mineral SPF balms I have leaves an ugly white cast so ima stick beside her, nasty taste an all!!! I use the BGS Kids SPF spray because I personally need 50 or more of sun protection, plus it's larger for less.

    Supergoop glow mineral powder... NO!! The idea is great, but you actually dont properly apply the adequate amount of it that you need for protection. Its hard to gauge how much you are actually applying with the powder. If you use a UV camera, you will see what i mean

      Yes, that’s why I said it’s used to “reapply sunscreen over makeup.” Meaning you already have a base sunscreen on.

    Im a little sceptical but intrigued about using anything new to me. However, would like to see which one I could use for myself and three young sons. We are from the UK so when we do occassionally get sunshine it can be very strong and I tend to get heat rash, so wondered if any of these would work for me. In the UK I've not seen any product resembling these and we would just use ones that are more for very light skin or white skin. Any help would be appreciated!! Many thanks

      Like I say often in videos, sometimes you might have a white cast where I don't because of what you use before the sunscreen, how you apply it, etc. I along with a lot of other people didn't notice a white cast with C'est Moi---but also that brand sells more than one sunscreen formula---the specific one I reviewed was called C'est Moi Sunshine Mineral Body & Face SPF 45 Sunscreen.

    The comparison between The Trader joes spf and Super Goop Unseen/BGS Make it Matte was a bit confusing. The Super Goop looks matte and feels matte. It's perfect for oily skin and under makeup, except it breaks me out. The BGS Make it Matte only looks matte from afar; it feels oily and stays oily/movable. It doesn't ever set and messes up the coverage and longevity of my makeup.

      take some time to watch more sunscreen videos on this channel. And also a browse through African skincare influencer content on RUclips, TikTok, Instagram, etc will show you that plenty of Africans do wear sunscreen and/or practice safe sun tactics.

      Sunscreens can be useful to fight hyperpimentation. Dark spots due to acne, any uneven skin tone, or melasma or even hypopigmentation. I am French/ Congolese. I live in France but I have been to Congo and most of my family lives in Congo. You're right beside some influencers Black Africans do not wear sunscreens and their skin look amazing much better than most outside the continent. If you don't suffer from what I have mentioned, then do not stress about it.

    I’m a bit confused, do you recommend physical sunscreen because it’s better to protect from hyperpigmentation getting darker? I switched to physical even though it’s so hard since I’m darker skin tone, but I’m trying to lighten my melasma so I’m trying physical to protect from visible light. Am I doing the right thing?

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Год назад +4

      I recommend using whatever sunscreen you like wearing so that you'll keep wearing it and want to reapply it. Melasma is very much affected by sun exposure so diligent sunscreen usage is important. There was a study I mentioned in the video though that tinted mineral sunscreens are helpful for those with persistent pigmentation issues, but that doesn't mean it's the only option.
      If you like the sunscreen you're using and are using it everyday and making sure to reapply every 2 hours when you're out in the sun or reapplying immediately after swimming, sweating, any activities that get you wet, etc. but also doing safe sun activities (big hat, big sunglasses when outside, etc) then you're doing the right thing. Sometimes you may also need to see a skin of color pro for treatment.
