HAPPY SATURDAY. Y'ALL! ** OPEN FOR A SUNSCREEN NOTE + TIMESTAMPS*** I DO NOT have a fave sunscreen for those who keep asking. I know you ask because you think it's easier to just use whatever I like the most, but I can use almost any sunscreen out there and not have a reaction. The point of these videos is to share what's out there and you can make a decision on what to try that will work for your skin and your lifestyle. I think its literally hard to pick a favorite sunscreen, you have to understand asking which you would pick doesn't make it easier bcoz our skin react differently to products, it's just sometimes your videos with several sunscreen gets overwhelming the one you pick might not be the one am going to try for different reasons. Just saying 🤷🏾♀️
As I have been on my sunscreen journey I have a few favorites but they are all for different situations. If there are any skiers/snowboarders out there who have battled windburn+sunburn I must shout out to Supergoop Cloud9 and Ski Balm for fixing the intense skin peeling I dealt with for years. But if you're not experiencing intense cold, sun and wind, ski balm is definitely too heavy for most daily use.
For reference - I have a medium skin tone. Native Unscented Mineral Face Lotion - SPF 30 is my favorite mineral-based sunscreen right now. Tatcha and glow recipe is so expensive! the back girl hybrid is next on my list!
You really should review the black girl sunscreen for kids. Because of that sunscreen, I now wear sunscreen everyday and reapply several times a day. It goes on like lotion and is wonderful.
i'm an esthetician in training and i'm currently learning/practicing chemical peels. after a peel you MUST wear a physical sunscreen so i've been looking for the best ones for POC. thanks for the great suggestions🤗
Ion know about these Danielle. I’ve been hooked on the Olay mineral sunscreen since 2021. That’s the best mineral sunscreen I’ve tried thus far. Thanks for putting me on to it.🙏🏾
@shaune hemphill, I wear Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer beneath [a thin film], let it set for 20 minutes, then 1st put a thin layer of Olay Mineral before placing another light-handed application for complete coverage. In other words, I don't just glob it onto my skin. 🤣 On occasion, I have also worn it without moisturizer underneath. [I have oily skin.]
Thanks for making sunscreen hunting fun :) I tried Native face and body sunscreen and I just couldn't get it to stay on my skin during the summer. It couldn't hang with the NYC heat and would getting really runny with my sweat. Still searching for that perfect combo of mineral + no cast + waterproof sunscreen.
Chemical sunscreens seem to burn my eyes & I've been hunting for non-ashy mineral options (bonus points if I can find it at Target lol) so I will be trying the Native Unscented Mineral Face Lotion!! Thank you!!!
Just what I needed. I wanted to try the black girl hybrid after trying the original which was too thick, and I heard the matte one the application wasn’t good but they fixed it. I like the glow recipe one too I like watermelon scents. Thanks for this review!
I’m going to have to try the Make it Hybrid! The original formula is too greasy for me, and I heard the Make It Matte wasn’t exactly matte or satisfactory for some people. That looked nice on your face. Did it get greasy after a while? I’m always nervous about the abundance of oils they use.
I finally got around to trying the Native Mineral Face Lotion. I bought it because it is relatively cheap and it comes in a small tube so I thought this would be good for keeping in my purse. It's cheap enough that if I lost it, I wouldn't be heart broken about it. It does not leave a noticeable white caste. It's lightweight and doesn't feel like makeup, which I really like. It has a little bit of a gluey texture but thats not a deal breaker. It's not as moisturizing as other options so it could be nice for oilier skin types that require a mineral sunscreen. For the price point, it's a really nice mineral sunscreen.
I was so excited about the Native, ordered immediately when it came to market. I skew toward mineral sunscreens (so I feel like my expectations are managed) and Native left me straight mummified, left a cast AND left my skin feeling like it was in a cast 😂 I was so disappointed 'cuz the price point was great. How'd it work for you?
I got the Black Girl Sunscreen 30 cause I was worried the hybrid 50 would look grey on me and block my very lockable pores. Glad I saw you use it. I'll try that next time.
I just bought the Farmacy Green Defense mineral sunscreen but after watching this video I’m tempted to pick up the Native Mineral Face Lotion too 👀 😂 thanks Danielle!
I know you don’t like minerals but I appreciate these videos so much! I like and prefer chemical but I can finally start retinol and was warned that they can burn. Also, my son can’t use chemical sunscreen so we’ve gone through a lot of trial and error.
I tried the Black Girl Hybrid and it was just okay. The smell was to overpowering for me. I had to return it. The texture was nice and it did have a slight cast but that’s to be expected. I am interested in trying some of the others.
I've had a ton of luck using Korean brand sunscreens for the past two years. Before then, I used the Supergoop Sun Defting Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam. I spend a little more on the sunscreen for my face and neck that that which I apply to the body. I will add your picks to my list of black girl friendly sunscreens. I am glad to have discovered your channel.
Could you please suggest me which Korean sunscreens your using? I’m darker complexion and need a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast or leave me oily.
I Have never , NEVER , subscribed to a channel on first watch , in all my GenX years of watching RUclips. Except for you. The Glow recipe does pill if not applied in thin layers OR even I do take a hefty 1/4 tsp for my face but I need to let my moisturizer absorb FULLY. If not pill city! Dr Murad tinted works like a dream on My NC40 skintone but it’s So expensive I avoid rebuying as much as I can ( ie delve into grocery store/Walgreens brands but alas white cast or dry as heck trying to spread that zinc) Thanks for commenting on glowing sunscreen I don’t like the hyper glow on my matured skin. ❤️🙏🏽
Thanks for the information. I ordered the black girl sunscreen from target and I’ll order the supergoop powder in April when Sephora has the 20% off sale.
Thanks for letting us know about the Supergoop powder. I’ve tried different powders in the past for easy application throughout the day but they always gave me the flour face lol. Will definitely pick this one up to try.
I'm so blessed to have found your channel! I wasn't wearing sunscreen at all! Now I won't go without it. I've even amassed a sunscreen wardrobe for the changes that happen from day to say with my skin.
A sunscreen wardrobe? Is that like a collection? One for a breakout? I have 3 different once and never am. Quite sure to know which one to wear for which day.
Thanks for this. There are so many new mineral sunscreens out....LAWD! Every day I am finding out about a new one. None of these are even the new ones I thought I knew about!
So useful. I can’t tolerate chemical sunscreens and i’m always looking for mineral sunscreens that don’t leave a cast. I will try the native one. you popped on my screen today and I’m so glad I discovered you.
BGS matte was horrible for me. The products stayed separated in the tube. And it was a greasy mess. SO i'm on the fence about trying another product from them.
😂 Thanks for takimg one for the team. I recently purchased the Hawaiian Tropic mineral powder (flour powder 😂), but I haven't tried it yet. Back to Targèt it goes!
Every time I think I have this information down pat and my research has me confident in my purchases, you drop some truth and I'm back at square 1 LOL. Just for the sake of my sanity, the main difference in choosing a pure mineral sunscreen over a hybrid or a chemical sunscreen for deeper skin tones is what again?!?!? I personally use Paula's choice sunscreen/moisturizer SPF 50 (the one in the light blue tube) I love it, and it has the consistency of the BGM sunscreen. I tried BGM a while back but they only had SPF 30 at the time IIRC, I am so happy to see they offer SPF 50 now and the price point is ON POINT! Will be giving that another try for sure! BTW, I have oily/combo skin as well. Danielle, I have to add, your skin looks amazing girl!!! Thank you for all the information and your fun videos! Keep them coming!
thanks for watching! the best sunscreen is the one you love and feel good in because you'll actually love wearing it. Sounds corny, but it's the truth...lol. The only reason why I review so many mineral sunscreens is because they tend to look horrible on deeper skin and people want to see what they look like first before they even start getting into other attributes. A hybrid may be less cast-y than some of the 100% mineral, but there are also people who cannot use certain chemical/organic UV filters so they prefer 100% mineral. It's really individual---and it's good to have so many options out there because not everything is for everybody. Like I keep saying, I myself don't even wear mineral sunscreens regularly and I prefer chemical sunscreens FOR ME---but there are people who can't wear chemical sunscreens. If you want more insight on this, you can check out two videos: one on visible light and iron oxides and another I did on "are chemical sunscreens bad?" Both are in my sunscreens for darker skin playlist.
Thank you for this one. I am a little curious about that Sunbum mineral lotion but I'm still a little apprehensive about the white cast after I tried their tinted mineral sunscreen. I might just have to pick up that Native face sunscreen as my carrying around sunscreen. It's small and not so expensive that if I lose it, I won't be heart broken.
Hey Doc. I’m one of your male viewers. Do you think you could make a video on skincare for us bearded folks? I tried to watch the male skin tubers but they all giving 15 in the face with no facial hair. Plus, they ain’t my color 😂😂😂 no rush but maybe for a future video. Thank you!
Hi Danielle. I will be giving Black Girl Magic and native( the first one) a try. Based on your other vlog I got Frudia and loved it. It is also a blend. As usual great vlog filled with great information. 💖
You are a delight to watch. You are too funny but you telling the truth with the cast 😂😂 the hawaiian powder one was so wrong! I have been using that Olay one you suggested a while back and no cast, so thank you so much for channel. You are a blessing my fellow dark skin sister! X I might try the first Native one and see how that compares.
I just purchased the watermelon glow recipe sunscreen two weeks ago and I love it. I have never put sunscreen on my ears , probably need to start. I’m going to pick up the black girl sunscreen. Can you do a video on body sunscreen next?
I am interested in trying the black girl sunscreen hybrid because I like the chemical for my arms. I require mineral for my face. I would also get the powder to touch up when I wear make up. Excited that the mineral sunscreens are getting better.
These sunscreens are popular and most of my peers (including myself) were ready to support this brand, but while their ingredient list is on the "safer end," people should research the safety and long term effects of using the ingredients in this and similar products. They're popular because they're sheer, but do a little research..
I haven’t tried any you mentioned but I’m interested in the Solara Suncare Vacation Glow Mineral Sunscreen. I’ve been taking spironolactone consistently for the past 2 months and my skin doesn’t really glow anymore. I really do like your earlier suggestion of the Olay mineral sunscreen but it’s hard to find nowadays. So lately, I’ve been using Undefined R&R Sun Serum. It’s mineral, lightly tinted and isn’t greasy when it dries down. I’m not sure if the tint will work on the darkest complexion though, but I’m definitely not light.
Heyy! Check online for the Olay mineral sunscreen. I seem to see it all the time in-store at CVS though, but check online if you can't find it near you.
The Native Mineral Sunscreen , 5 FL Oz, in coconut pineapple is PERFECT for the BODY!!! 😊 I was floored!! No white cast on my legs and arms! I'll try the face formula maybe in September. *Curious why the body formula [5 Oz Unscented] was tried on the face in the video. 😆😁* Thank you for the review.
Hi! Thank you for all the information especially about mineral sunscreens. But... Have you done a favorite NON-mineral (i.e. chemical) sunscreen video? What are your favorites? Because I got to be honest: I'm kind of over trying to put a white paste drenched in oil over my brown, recently diagnosed with fungal acne skin. It's just not worth my limited time. My blemishes will fade more slowly. I'm okay with that. Keep doing your good work!
I would love your review of the new Cay Skin mineral sunscreen, it’s Winnie Harlow’s new brand! Also, thank you so much again for these videos. I’ve bought so many of your mineral sunscreen recommendations and they’ve worked out beautifully for me
I have the BGSS, it’s great except for the watery mess it makes coming out of the tube. I think if they change the packaging, so not so much dispenses at a time they’d have a winner.
Make up beautiful! maybe you will consider doing another video on under eye circles as in if you have to do any maintenance? Also I am considering the peel you had maybe microdermabrasion and currently doing laser hair removal I am curious if you have any input on the order of some of these procedures.
Thank you very much for sharing☺️. I was really looking for some sunscreens as a black woman and cannot find anything. I will look if any of these sunscreens can ship in Canada, since it’s where I live. Once again, thank you so much and bless you.☺️☺️
Hi and thanks for your video. I have two questions please? What’s the sunscreen you wear or recommend for fully body coverage and how do they mix with big spray/lotion? Thank you I’m advance😃
Okay, story! I don't know if you've seen this, but it appears that the beloved Walgreens Sensitive Skin SPF 50 has been discontinued. Words cannot describe how devastating this reality truly is. I didn't want to believe it for the longest time, but I've come out of denial and faced reality. WSS SPF 50 is no more. In my quest to deal with this crisis, I had to of course branch out and try some new minerals. So I picked up the Lacura brand mineral from Aldi, SPF 50 for $3 (It's actually cheaper than WSS). It turned out to be a hybrid, with octisalate. Alright, yo... I began wearing a thin layer of it as one of my three morning sunscreen layers. It's the layer I put on right before I do my makeup, because mineral sunscreen works so much better with makeup than most chemical in my experience, so I like to put it on right before makeup. I've been doing this for about 4 weeks now, just testing and experimenting to see if I could turn it into my new WSS. While the formulation isn't quite what my beloved was, it is still a really nice formulation that I'm happy wearing on my face every day to work, which is saying a lot for a mineral. But in addition to that, The greatest news is I think I am noticing serious benefits from daily use of a mineral. I just can't help but notice how much thicker, stronger and more flawless my skin looks after 4 weeks of just one thin layer of mineral added into the routine. And I definitely notice how much more stable it is than chemical. It just seems to hold up so much better when I'm outside. Anyway, moral of the story is if you can squeeze in even a thin layer of mineral sunscreen into your routine, I think it is a really good thing! Excited about this video, as I am all your videos. Keep rocking Danielle!! 🎉
The black girl sunscreen hybrid was a bit too watery for me so I decided to return it, but now I wish I would’ve kept it for my body. The Cosrx aloe sun cream is still my favorite, I just hate having to order it.
Right on tiiiiime! I just ran out! Heyyyyyyyyyyyy Danielle! Now after watching, I think I would try the first one. I do love some watermelon smell lol. And I never had an issue with their products that I've used.
Is the make it hybrid sufficient to protect you from physical and blue light? Not sure if the “hybrid” tag means it’s less effective than a full on mineral sunscreen.
Hey girl I love your videos can you tell me which sunscreen do you use personally on a daily basis and how do you reapply. can you do a video on that please ❤️❤️ and also you mention something about the application with powder is that sufficient protection. because it’s really hard to tell and doesn’t that built up cakey as well.
Hey! I don't really use the same sunscreen regularly and I don't have a favorite...lol. I'm always trying new ones for the channel---like I mentioned in the video I do tend to like Korean or Japanese sunscreens more, but even then I don't have a fave. I don't have reactive skin so I can use whatever. There are videos on reapplying sunscreen you can check out that explain everything. You do not want to rely on a mineral sunscreen powder or spf sunscreen makeup mist as your sole form of sunscreen. Check out the reapplication videos for all the info.
Pleaaaasssseeeeee review COTZ tinted mineral sunscreen. It is a game changer and leaves NO WHITECAST ON DARK SKIN. Only downside is it’s not waterproof.
Great video! Thanks for this. I only have the regular black girl sunscreen but I use on my body because I know my oily face won't take it. Currently trying the Suntique I'm Safe Pure Cica sunscreen that Glow By Ramon convinced me to getand i like it; minimal cast. Supergoops prices are egregious. They be charging the same for face sunscreen, body sunscreen and lip balm woth spf. How you changing $36 for EYE CREAM?!?! Make it make sense. Edit: the glow recipe (speaking of expensive) and native ones are eyeing me.
Ok late to this video but I will try the BG Hybrid on your say so. I did not love the Make it Matte, it was very oily on application and sometimes it was very runny almost like it was separating. I am currently using the Paula's Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy SPF 50 and although it has Titanium Dioxide the caste is barely there and disappears beautifully.
The glow recipe is horrible for me. I look purple and it never blends in well no matter how long I rub it in. It takes about an hour, sometimes more for the cast to go away unless I add something to help it fade away.
Have you shown the Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50| PA++++? Pricey…yes🥴, but an excellent pure mineral sunscreen that blends in well with my very deep complexion.
would LOVE to see you compare MD Solar Sciences Tinted Mineral SPF 30 vs Sun Bum Tinted Mineral SPF 30 Very different price points, similar reviews. MD Solar Sciences does have Vitamin C, coq10, and squalane.
I’ve been wearing Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen and love it, but I’d like to try the new Tatcha sunscreen. Of course it’s out of stock at Sephora now that I can use my Rouge discount. Lol. But I’ll get it when they do.
I made my way back over here again for another tongue lashing about the importance of sunscreen….😖. I currently live in Seattle and sun for most of the yr is a rare occurrence…. But there are definitely rays I should keep in mind so here we are again sunscreen options for 2022!
I am currently using Black girl sunscreen. By better half was lime what are you putting on your face now. But it is good and I like the thickness a little goes a long way. But I am disappointed. I see Danielle found 50 fps and I only found a 30. Oh well it is still good.
Hey! make sure you watch the full video---some mineral sunscreens are harder to blend in than others, but most of these were nice. I also talk about how to apply them in the video.

I believe she's mentioned the BGS kids sunscreen in her older videos
@Trinity M does it contain oxybenzol? I heard like that ingredient makes u darker
Great topic! I have to use mineral… chemical breaks me out. Best I’ve used: elta MD tinted spf 46 & biosssance squalane + zinc spf 30.
thank you!

😂 Thanks for takimg one for the team. I recently purchased the Hawaiian Tropic mineral powder (flour powder 😂), but I haven't tried it yet. Back to Targèt it goes!
I do not know if you mentioned ColorScience but it has been a pretty solid staple!
Thank you!
hey!!! have you seen this video: ruclips.net/video/vpnTSI9ZbRc/видео.html
@@styleandbeautydoctor no I haven’t and I’m subscribed! Thank you!
The Black Girl Sunscreen I use on my body & I use their matte one on my face
Your eyes look amazing. I watched your video on chemical peel for dark circles.. how many times did you go for the peel?
Hi Danielle. I will be giving Black Girl Magic and native( the first one) a try. Based on your other vlog I got Frudia and loved it. It is also a blend. As usual great vlog filled with great information. 💖
thank you, boo!!!
You are a delight to watch. You are too funny but you telling the truth with the cast 😂😂 the hawaiian powder one was so wrong! I have been using that Olay one you suggested a while back and no cast, so thank you so much for channel. You are a blessing my fellow dark skin sister! X I might try the first Native one and see how that compares.
awww thanks! ❤️❤️❤️😘😘
D your skin is absolutely beautiful. I wish for mines to be and I do the work. So it is what it is.
Thank you so much!
Bought the native sunscreen thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
awesome!!! did you get a chance to try it yet?
@@styleandbeautydoctor yes I did love it thanks too you thank you beautiful 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@Biracialbaddie yay!!!
I just purchased the watermelon glow recipe sunscreen two weeks ago and I love it. I have never put sunscreen on my ears , probably need to start. I’m going to pick up the black girl sunscreen. Can you do a video on body sunscreen next?
soooo many videos already on body sunscreen
Totally love the video the video is made ..
Thank you so much for good details .. Application view, Product view and your explanation. .. 10 on 10
thank you so much, Pooja!!!
I used mineral sunscreen for years. My primer is part mineral sunscreen Beekman 1802
Thank you for sharing! 💜
You’re my shero for this one! Thank you ❤️
awww yay! hey, boo!
@@styleandbeautydoctor heeeyyyy 😁
Thank you for the review.
So the black girl sunscreen from Target wont ship to Puerto Rico and its sold out at their website. Great 😅 really wanted to try it
Awww so sorry to hear that! I do hope you get to try it one day.
I would check out her sunscreen for darker skin playlist. You should be able to find a video.
Hello, question have you reviewed Suergoop Sunnyscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 50 for babies + kiddos? If not could you do a review on it please.
I would love your review of the new Cay Skin mineral sunscreen, it’s Winnie Harlow’s new brand! Also, thank you so much again for these videos. I’ve bought so many of your mineral sunscreen recommendations and they’ve worked out beautifully for me
Could you review the brand Love Sun Body mineral sunscreen? Thx love.
I found a mineral sunscreen called COTZ sold at Ulta. Have not seen you do a review on that one.
Yesssss I just bought it too and it leaves no white cast!I love it! It’s tinted, mineral and spf 50. Only thing that sucks is it’s not waterproof :(
I love the matte bgs and I am so excited they have another one out. Imma try that one and MAYBE the native Bae
I really want to try/like the 14:55 Hawaiian Tropic and Native10:24 so thanks for including them in this video.
Thank you very much for sharing☺️. I was really looking for some sunscreens as a black woman and cannot find anything. I will look if any of these sunscreens can ship in Canada, since it’s where I live. Once again, thank you so much and bless you.☺️☺️
You're welcome!!
Please tell me what foundation you’re using! Your skin looks AMAZING!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The black girl sunscreen hybrid was a bit too watery for me so I decided to return it, but now I wish I would’ve kept it for my body. The Cosrx aloe sun cream is still my favorite, I just hate having to order it.
I just use mineral sunscreens cause my skin is very sensitive and hates any other sunscreen 😅
Right on tiiiiime! I just ran out!
Heyyyyyyyyyyyy Danielle!
Now after watching, I think I would try the first one. I do love some watermelon smell lol. And I never had an issue with their products that I've used.
ayeeeeeeee
Only downside is it’s not waterproof.
that was already reviewed last year---you can search any product name using the search option on my channel to see if it's been reviewed.
I absolutely adore this channel and you are stunning, D!
Thank you so much!
I’m going to watch the whole video
thank youuuuuu! I appreciate you for that!
Thank you, girl. I'm of to purchase some sunscreen. Your skin is gorgeous. To everyone reading this, Jesus loves you.
Thanks, boo!
Do you have a best sunscreens to wear under makeup video? Possibly for hot/humid weather and oily skin… Any recommendations?
yep---check the sunscreen for darker skin playlist.
Ok late to this video but I will try the BG Hybrid on your say so. I did not love the Make it Matte, it was very oily on application and sometimes it was very runny almost like it was separating. I am currently using the Paula's Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy SPF 50 and although it has Titanium Dioxide the caste is barely there and disappears beautifully.
let me know how you like the BG Hybrid!
Pricey…yes🥴, but an excellent pure mineral sunscreen that blends in well with my very deep complexion.
yes, I have---whenever you're looking to see if I reviewed a certain product, you can easily search it on my channel and it'll come up
Good lookin for mentioning the facial hair part it’s appreciated lol
would LOVE to see you compare
MD Solar Sciences Tinted Mineral SPF 30
vs
Sun Bum Tinted Mineral SPF 30
Very different price points, similar reviews.
MD Solar Sciences does have Vitamin C, coq10, and squalane.
Just love your videos!!
Curious though, have you heard and or tried out the Poreless Deep Cleanse Green Tea Mask? If so, what is your thoughts?
Have you reviewed the m-61 mineral sunscreen? I’m interested but would love a review first! Thank you!
Please can you review a couple of US lotion sunscreens that claim to leave no white cast? Theraderm SPF 43 and Zealios Sun Barrier SPF 45 please.
I am currently using Black girl sunscreen. By better half was lime what are you putting on your face now. But it is good and I like the thickness a little goes a long way. But I am disappointed. I see Danielle found 50 fps and I only found a 30. Oh well it is still good.
Hi, I am new to minerial suncream but I am finding it difficult to blending it, it give me patches and it leaves peels. I am just tired 😫
Hey! make sure you watch the full video---some mineral sunscreens are harder to blend in than others, but most of these were nice. I also talk about how to apply them in the video.
@@styleandbeautydoctor thank you Danielle 😊.
