This is the first time I am considering the switch as a portable device. I travel a lot but was waiting for the switch-pro. This is gonna make me pull the trigger.
Nintendo should just make a pro controller that you can pull in half and then use in portable mode, that way you get the best of both worlds. Keep all the features that make the Pro Controller great, motion control, NFC, USB-C, but also allow it to be split and used while on the go or not in tabletop/TV mode.

Unless he releasses that footage I'm calling bull shit excuse. That's like saying you saw big foot but you won't show the proof so you gotta take his word.)
@@WulffDen No surprise there. You game reviewers suck at games. @Rey Zephlyn, No it's the opposite, Daemon X Machina is not for the mass consumer since majority of people just turn into a retarded kid whenever they play games. You can't do that with games like these.
@Skuawk Really? I'm the mean one. Who started shitting on the beta without giving the game a chance? Who started reviewing this game without knowing the mechanics? If I'm Marvelous I'll copystrike them as well spreading false information about the game.
Hori did mention that if these sold well there would be newer versions. I couldn't get my pre-ordered hori split pad pro on time since they sold out so quickly on Amazon. That right there shows there is a market for these things. Hopefully Hori will add these features in the next versions.
I have this Hori control pad. Love it for the couch or in bed. Really good for portable Rocket League, Fortnite, Tetris, Astral Chain and other similar games. I picked it up for playing Overwatch in bed when it comes out in October. So far I love it!
From my understanding those plastic tabs at the top on each side are there so when youre placing it on a flat surface it tilts it up so it doesn't let the back programmable buttons accidentally get pressed. If it goes cheaper, i think it seems a great extra travel controller esp. since i really bad at using motion control. Thanks for the review.
My brother got this for me for christmas and I love it. I mostly played dock because I love the pro controller but now I can sit for hours playing Animal Crossing with no thumb cramps.
'revised' satisfye grip pro VS 'revised' skullnco grip case the revised version of the satisfye grip is slightly more ergonomic and has rubber tips that eliminate joy-con scratching. the new skullnco grip case is is 'guaranteed' to fit docks as well as has a tighter fit on the switch. I own neither, but I'm waiting for a direct comfort-comparison instead of individually sponsored videos for each of them.
I got the skullnco and it leaves much to be desired. It's better than the stock switch for sure but the grips don't extend below the joycons ad are not angled at all making the grip hurt your wrist and using the dpad difficult just like without the grip. I wish I held out for this controller i'm probably gonna get that and never use my scullnco
The bumpers on the back near the rails is to keep the weight of the system off the controller/tablet connection if you set the thing down on the table. Otherwise you'd probably seriously screw up your rails over time.
SquidBag I hear you, it looks great but I’ve already got a pro controller and I’m after something with a little nostalgia. The SNES was my console growing up. I’d say next month I’ll get the SN30pro+ but there’s so many games coming out, I’ll be living on beans...
@@RaymondBottoneTV I've been using the SNES30 Pro (not the Pro+, which is the newest one w/extended playstation grips) for the new SNES games on Switch and it's been PERFECT. Especially since it has the ZL and ZR buttons for the new "jump-back" feature. This thing just feels right when playing SNES games. If you want an identical controller to the old SNES controllers, without the added joysticks or buttons, I'd strongly suggest picking up the older SNES30 from 8bitdo. You can use it for the new SNES Switch app, or for any of your other retro Switch games (as well as PC, Android, and Mac). The new SNES controller that Nintendo is releasing can ONLY be used for playing on the new SNES Switch App, nothing else.
Most reviews of Daemon X Machina are concentrating on stuff like story aspects of the game, which is ridiculous because it's first and foremost a mech game about building and creating mechs. Fans of mech games like it a lot and you can find more appropriate reviews of the game which focus on the gameplay and customizing mechs , which is entirely the point of this game. Don't listen to reviews on this game. If you are a fan of Armored Core, you'll probably love it.
Armored Core has historically bad reviews too. I think mech games seem complicated to us laymen, but garner a very niche audience that falls in love with them.
@@WulffDen I was going to come say this as well. Mech building games have a very small dedicated community who love the games regardless of every single one having a pretty garbage story. I love these games, and will 100% be picking it up based off of the beta I played. But reviewers are doing their job well with this game. A 70% is good, and I would say is accurate as the story I played in the first act was... Lackluster as hell? And story is 1/4th of a game.
If this came with all the missing features and could worriedly connect to the switch, and could snap together like the joy con grip, this would be a perfect purchase.
I actually really like Daemon X Machina. It's flawed, but it's one of the best mech games I've played in a very long time. If you're an Armored Core fan from day one, this feels like a spiritual successor. The controller looks like something I'd find at Alibaba (aka: cheap as chinese hell).
Just thought I’d add my two cents. I have both the satisfye grip (with the elite case) and the split pad pro, and I gotta say, I prefer the split pad. The analog sticks, the dpad, and the larger buttons feel amazing, and honestly I’m really digging the chunkier (sturdier) yet symmetrical feel. Just sent my left joy con in for drift repair and gotta say, didn’t really miss it at all while I was using the split pad (plus no worries of drift on this thing). It actually fits decently well into the elite case, so I can use that for portability. HOWEVER, personally I despise motion controls and am lukewarm towards hd rumble, so for me, I’m perfectly fine without either of those things. I usually play odyssey docked with the pro controller anyhow. I can see why you think the build is pretty cheap, but personally, I think the comfort it gives is damn near unbeatable and the quality it does have is more than serviceable.
honestly! why there hasn't been a 'pro' controller split in half after this long truly blows my mind. If there were a comfortable feature filled option, I'd overpay.
Actually the reason why I'm holding back is because you can't use it as a normal Pro Controller. I'm pretty sure that a "Joy Con grip-like" add-on could be implemented so it could be used wirelessly...
@@reyzephlyn105 how? It should still work fine. I hate the Xbox Controller. I can understand the joycons due to it being a disigned for two player games aswell. Most 'set-ups' people have are either PS4/Switch, PS4/Switch/PC or PC/Switch. Not that many have a Xbox in there setup. So it kinda makes sense
Quell Dieu from what I’ve been told the system defaults to the joycon motion control and has to be built to use the switch unit controls that said. I don’t know if anyone has tried, just assuming because the split pad pro have motion controls they won’t work.
@@jaidsalgado It's a issue yes, but it's issue that also happens to every other controller with sticks and eventually faster if you don't take care of them or you leave them being pressed down like in a bag or case so just make sure they're not being pressed down when not in use so they can last you :)
Gonna be rperhaps something very small, but being able to run in BOTW while being able to move the camera at the same time would be REALLY good. Especially because I tend to aim the bow with the stick anyway, so mapping sprint to the back button would be really really nice. Also the comfort thing is a big thing during those Stardew Valley sessions where you are going to play just a couple of in-game days and end up stopping until like 4 AM
No one is talking about the best part, the Turbo Button. I just restarted Pokemon Shield and set A to Turbo and all that intro dialog took up like zero of my time.
The thing that would seal this package would be a wireless center connector piece like original joycons. Would turn it into pro controller for tv mode and eliminate need for pro controller and joycons all together
They still haven't added gyro controls to that game yet, so you'd probably have a good advantage since these have those programmable buttons on the rear.
Now I do not know why people aren't talking too much about the turbo button. I'd use it for DQ 11S in the casino. ex. Assign the turbo button to "a" then go to the slots and then tape down the "a" key so you can let it automate the slots. There's a way to pretty much guarantee winning the slots if you have enough tokens. It just requires you to keep spinning which could be achieved easier with a turbo button.
My wife just got me one last week 😁 so far it is fantastic. Relied on gyro for fortnite, but this got me playing way better after awhile. Love it and rely on it now. Especially considering two sets of my joycons got drift badly since I play exessively within 2 months. We saved money like crazy getting this. Plus I play portable most of the time anyway.
I don't know why you think the joycons are still a good option cause of motion controls and wireless capability! Dude have you forgot about drift. 75 percent of us want a hori joycon because of our joycons having drift and we are not ppl who review nintendo items for a living so we cannot easily buy a 80 dollar joycon to replace the one with drift. IN A NUTSHELL JOYCONS CAN BURN!
I put them on and haven't used the joycons ever since. those are so much better!!!! if you mainly use the switch in handheld mode, get those. really. you won't regret it.
Split Pad Pro is worth it no matter what because it is an alternitave option for handheld mode that doesn't have drifting issues. Even the DPad Joycon has the official Joycon analog sticks.
My friend was talking about these the other day so I checked your channel for a review. Told him I reckoned that you would have a video ready for today! Glad I was right!
I bought these ones because I play Realm Royale. I could win a couple of matches today and can say it's 100% recommended. It will increase your accuracy and is also more comfortable 👍🏼
They could make a pro-style controller with a little middle bit that just connects the two together and charges them, and that has the wireless functionality
I'm really surprised you called it a mediocre game. I've having such a blast with it. It's right up my alley, and I wouldn't call it mediocre by any means. The developers put a lot of time and effort into making that game look fantastic and fun ... on a PORTABLE CONSOLE!
the assignable button was such a missed opportunity to allow combination buttons into one button. I do have it and it's exquisitely comfy, but I can't believe 3 years on, no one has designed something just like this with motion and rumble. It's weird. If I could afford to do it right now I'd kickstart it myself as I think these are the sort of joycons the world is waiting for. Finally, they'd come in an ipega style stretch fit thing so they could work in TATE mode or horizontal mode (therefore of course they'd be wireless compatible). The flip grip is so unbelievably uncomfortable and blocks the charge port. If I could find *individual* grips for each joy con, the flip grip would then be cool.

(You got like GameXplain review where the footage shows he doesn't boost alot and his excuse is he boosted only in embargoed missions so he couldn't show it. Unless he releasses that footage I'm calling bull shit excuse. That's like saying you saw big foot but you won't show the proof so you gotta take his word.)
I think when I streamed the demo a while back I didn't know the boost button existed, so that's probably what happened lol
@@WulffDen Bab you flashed through the tutorial text lol. I would too cause reading is big gey
Was waiting for you to review this with your actual feelings, since everyone else was praising this controller.
It's weird that it doesn't have motion controls or NFC because it definitely has the room for it
Gene Reid probably to keep the price down to attract buyers
Hori did mention that if these sold well there would be newer versions. I couldn't get my pre-ordered hori split pad pro on time since they sold out so quickly on Amazon. That right there shows there is a market for these things. Hopefully Hori will add these features in the next versions.
Its Nintendo's licensing.
I have this Hori control pad. Love it for the couch or in bed. Really good for portable Rocket League, Fortnite, Tetris, Astral Chain and other similar games. I picked it up for playing Overwatch in bed when it comes out in October.
So far I love it!
I think Kevin Kenson said that hori split pad pro fits in the satisfye case while being attached to the switch even though its tight but it fits.
This would suit me sit I only play handheld at home. I can’t remember the last time I docked my Switch or when it left the house.
@Google Milos no
My brother got this for me for christmas and I love it. I mostly played dock because I love the pro controller but now I can sit for hours playing Animal Crossing with no thumb cramps.
'revised' satisfye grip pro VS 'revised' skullnco grip case
the revised version of the satisfye grip is slightly more ergonomic and has rubber tips that eliminate joy-con scratching. the new skullnco grip case is is 'guaranteed' to fit docks as well as has a tighter fit on the switch.
I got both go for the satisfy the scull gives gramps after an hour.
@@fuzzyfuzzy9253 This new controller looks more comfy tho. Maybe go for that
The bumpers on the back near the rails is to keep the weight of the system off the controller/tablet connection if you set the thing down on the table. Otherwise you'd probably seriously screw up your rails over time.
My accessory purchase of the month has to be the SNES controller. Great video Bob, thanks for your honest opinion.
Jared Gonzales thank you!
Just got one this thing’s so much better then a joy con.
Daemon X Machina is an amazing game. Not everyone thought so but the game just released and im sure more Downloads will be included.
Its very much whatever.
For a mecha release in 2019... there are just too many other better mecha gamss out there.
No one going to mention how he took his kick stand off😂
Most reviews of Daemon X Machina are concentrating on stuff like story aspects of the game, which is ridiculous because it's first and foremost a mech game about building and creating mechs. Fans of mech games like it a lot and you can find more appropriate reviews of the game which focus on the gameplay and customizing mechs , which is entirely the point of this game. Don't listen to reviews on this game. If you are a fan of Armored Core, you'll probably love it.
100% agree! This game is great
Armored Core has historically bad reviews too.
@@WulffDen Yea I could agree with that. I love big robots so i'm loving this game
The online multiplayer is awesome! I care nothing for the story besides making progress to enhance my Mech.
It is by far my favorite accessory I've bought for the Nintendo Switch.
If this came with all the missing features and could worriedly connect to the switch, and could snap together like the joy con grip, this would be a perfect purchase.
I was thinking of picking this up just to not worry about stick drift
I actually really like Daemon X Machina. It's flawed, but it's one of the best mech games I've played in a very long time. If you're an Armored Core fan from day one, this feels like a spiritual successor.
The controller looks like something I'd find at Alibaba (aka: cheap as chinese hell).
It doesnt feel cheap, and tbh it doesnt look cheap in person either.
I love your kickstand
Except stick drift IS a problem with the split pad pro and the grips aren't nearly as good as the satisfye grips
Wulff Den definitely has the best logo I've seen on a 'switch channel' (for the lack of a better term)
Damn $100 here in Australia. Out on 30th of October.
US dollars are worth more that AU dollars, so they are the same price
Amit Gilbert gee you are a genius lol... I was only stating that I hear prices like $50 and then I gotta search for Australian prices...
Would love it if its a Pro Controller-Joycon hybrid. Also, its pretty amazing that you can watch TV AND play game on the Switch at the same time.
If these had HD rumble and motion controls I would definitely get them.
Same
honestly!
why there hasn't been a 'pro' controller split in half after this long truly blows my mind. If there were a comfortable feature filled option, I'd overpay.
Actually the reason why I'm holding back is because you can't use it as a normal Pro Controller. I'm pretty sure that a "Joy Con grip-like" add-on could be implemented so it could be used wirelessly...
@@cheke_hs Don't think so. Look all Hori gamepads with wireless support. Yeah, no one.
I would love to see those features as well but after playing with them, I’ll gladly sacrifice those for the level of comfort it provides.
Not only does it look more comfortable, it just looks GOOD.
What. Another controller?
C'mon man.... *pulls out wallet*
*plays captain falcon in the background*
i see youre a man of culture as well
all I wanted was it to have rumble. I would have been sold with the weight and feature alone.
without that, no deal.
This makes the Switch look like a new Sega portable. I dig it.
Where did you get that tiny Kirby in the background
A local comic shop but they have them on Amazon. Search squishy kirby
I got it because my Joy cons drift and I wanted a more permanent solution for handheld mode. I’m really glad I got these.
Great alternative. But make the joy sticks the way the should be both at the bottom. Or at least make a choice
So you want a PlayStation layout? I dont think that'll work to well since alot of games have them with the xbox layout in mind
I got a switch Christmas 2017 and stupidly sold it and because of your videos I am getting for this Christmas and I’m hyped
lol this guy reminds me of gilfoyle from silicon valley
This is what I have been using for the last year.
his voice reminds me of Bentley the turtle from Sly
I was able to get the Hori pad from Walmart for $45. Definitely makes the Switch comfortable and my nephew likes the Hori pad cause it's huge.
Switch has the gyro sensor by itself, but it is not used in most of the games.
I just bought this and I love them. They feel and look great
Wulff den what do you think of blasphemous? I'm loving it right now on switch
Good game but very frustrating
Sorrowful be the heart, Penitent One
The Satisfye 2019 Elite Case will fit this.
wait others said the switch has built in motion? it was being used on vr why not in DxM?
Quell Dieu from what I’ve been told the system defaults to the joycon motion control and has to be built to use the switch unit controls that said. I don’t know if anyone has tried, just assuming because the split pad pro have motion controls they won’t work.
The switch has no motion control. The controllers do. To use the VR you dock the controllers into the unit.
I don't care. I only care if the DRIFT IS FIXED!
Nick that’s the most important question of them all !!!
Ive had this for, about a week now, I have high hopes it doesn't drift, which is mostly why i got these
@@Mellzdhaboss64 shouldn't. It's a Nintendo problem. Third parties aren't having the drift issue far as I know
Man I just got a switch and I've hearing about the joy cons drifting for a lot of people and it has me worried :( 🙄
@@jaidsalgado It's a issue yes, but it's issue that also happens to every other controller with sticks and eventually faster if you don't take care of them or you leave them being pressed down like in a bag or case so just make sure they're not being pressed down when not in use so they can last you :)
I'd say that a better quality of plastic and a wireless mode would be nice. Thank you for the honest triple review.
I can play Dragon ball xenoverse 2 the same way I do on Xbox now with the elite controller
I like the idea of playing realm royal without killing my right thumb. Just the comfort alone is nice
@7:35 1000% disagree with you bro. I think those assignable buttons is what makes it worth it. Put boost on one of them and come talk to me lol
This is why I got the Satisfye gaming grip.
Joycon < big boy con
Big Boy Con > Drift Joycon
Gonna be rperhaps something very small, but being able to run in BOTW while being able to move the camera at the same time would be REALLY good. Especially because I tend to aim the bow with the stick anyway, so mapping sprint to the back button would be really really nice.
Also the comfort thing is a big thing during those Stardew Valley sessions where you are going to play just a couple of in-game days and end up stopping until like 4 AM
Yeah this controller is great for that but Lol you are supposed to use a claw grip to play BOTW. Just so you know.
Lost me at "no rumble"
I dont think rumble is THAT important. I think like it too much
as if you actually notice that shit while playing.
No one is talking about the best part, the Turbo Button. I just restarted Pokemon Shield and set A to Turbo and all that intro dialog took up like zero of my time.
Am I the only one who never uses motion control ?
Nope. I don't use motion controls either.
The thing that would seal this package would be a wireless center connector piece like original joycons. Would turn it into pro controller for tv mode and eliminate need for pro controller and joycons all together
I want this controller for realm royale. So frickin bad.
They still haven't added gyro controls to that game yet, so you'd probably have a good advantage since these have those programmable buttons on the rear.
This controller is so god damn solid, instant favourite the moment I tried them
You can't pet the dog! Worst game 0/10
Game Of Thrones ptsd
It only follows you.
Yeah, I LOVE my Split Pad Pro. HORI really killed it this time.
I'm not seeing a mediocre game, I'm seeing a person who can barely play the game
Most people don't know how to use femto armaments or optimal ranges. I think the tutorials need beefing up in the early stages of the game.
Whelp, this video is demonetized!! The Marvelous Inc. ninjas are gonna get ya 😂😂
I bought an official grip at the store, and I’ve been using that for a while. I would need a Zelda version, and a sale before I consider buying
Played Daemon X Machina demo and I loved it. I loved armored core back in the day so maybe its just the type of game that I like.
Got these as a joy on replacement and there amazing in my use case
