I had to leave one more comment... To get me through that large project of organizing the garage.... again (it seemed like for the umpteenth time).... I just had to reiterate what she said in the video..... I focused on one area at a time ...amd, when I would get that done, I just really would be done for the day.... But before leaving the garage, I would write out the next projected goal for the garage.... And posted the project so that I could see it, when coming back to work on it, again. I really believe "this particular action" was what made the project successful and completed.... Stating the smaller goals each and every time ...helped so much.🙂
Thinking about my vision for my home while listening to this has been really eye opening. What I think I want and what actually supports the life I live are two different things. I think I’m going to have to listen to the opening questions again!
Motivation can also be moving the contents of one area to another, meanwhile moving that area's stuff to the other place. Just getting things out of their storage (or display) gives you many chances to rethink things all of the sudden!
I always enjoy your videos and they have helped me a lot. Today's garage section gave me empathy for the way my husband and I would want to clean it. You were spot on in the things you said we would be saying...because it's what we would be saying.
Love thinking about the vision for our home…I tend to start with how I want things to feel then look. I was never and will never be a trend follower. I have actually noticed though that without trying I have ‘accidentally’ been a trend setter!😆
You're not kiddin.....even with my organized garage at probably the 85% level...it still took weeks....way over a month of dedicated, focused work to get it streamlined the way I needed...of course, my crafting space is in there....but, you get the picture. Here's the project I'm dreading.... Yesterday was Thanksgiving. During some down time....I went out to the shed to pull the Christmas decor.....there are a number of plastic bins that are part of this arrangement ...and, guess what I found....rat and mouse droppings all over the tops of the bins. I left all of it on th he back patio to try and look at it the following day. Today is that following day. I'm not sure what awaits me...these are beautiful decorations that I've enjoyed collecting and, using thru the years....if these bins have been contained...and, no pest residue within.....I can keep it....if not, it all be thrown in the trash, tomorrow. 🤔 At first, I was really bummed....but, I'm trying to take a more positive position on the task at hand. If it has to be tossed....we'll buy a much smaller tree....and, try to get by....if the items are fine....yay for us. Yesterday, after finding the aforementioned situation...we went to my daughter's for the Turkey dinner...it was very good...but, then later at her house I saw it...in it's simplicity....it was truly beautiful..... The tree had been sat out....and the kids began to decorate....green tree with white and silver decor....not elaborate...but simple....and, simply beautiful. And, I realized what was in those bins...it's just "stuff"....and, regardless of what happens....it will be all right. I appreciate ya'll so much...thank you for being a wonderful source of encouragement and inspiration. ⚘
There are plenty of man oriented garage decluttering/organization yt vids that may help. Gail is right when approaching as neutral as possible and Ed is so right on to watch for signals he's getting tired or overwhelmed. These tips have helped my dh declutter HIS stuff!
When my husband has things he wants to keep, he has designated place to store items. If they cross over in my space they're fair game for me to declutter. He's since started letting go of things on his own.
To the lady who experiences arguments when she and her husband try to declutter a space together: I'd recommend tackling a limited area (as Gail suggests) make it an area of his choosing (starting with an immediate positive), one that appears less difficult than other piles. Promise yourselves a nice walk, or meal or café outing once it's finished (fixing on a rough finishing time... with lee way of 20 mins or so). My husband always has a cheering reward in sight before we start on a daunting de-clutter. It really helps. Very best regards. G Ire
Saving lots of recyclable stuff that keeps growing despite regular giveaways. Also, not all are being taken up by recyclers. Feeling guilty to just dump them as someone out there may be able to repurpose them. What shall I do?

Not having to move out of his chair or some place else! Funny! 😀
Everybody hates moving hehehe - she was so realisticly cute
So helpful 👍🇨🇦❤️
