AO Smith whole house water filter- 6 Month Review

Finally changed out my old filter. I went from a 20 micron to a 5 micron filter. Both say they last up to 6 months. The 20 micron filter just reached 6 months so i dont believe that the 5 micron filter will last as long, but well see

I have one of theses filters. After one year it is impossible to keep it from leaking, I changed the rubber O Ring, used vaseline and cleaned the filter threads. The solution was to not just replace the filter but the entire system. I am on my third one, need to buy the filter system by the six pack.

Does the O ring go at the top of the glass filter or up in the white housing. I just took the old filter off and a big O ring fell down, now it doesn't seem to fit right on the glass piece. Any advice would be appreciated.

You should put a spin down filter before that filter

Is that iron on the filter?? Red sediment all over that old filter.
