There is nothing special about that particular line, he just had to re-establish the theme (which is the joke). There are enough noteworthy jokes in there, including that one, but that line as an aside is pure formal necessity (because that part took so long to say).

@@TrueBlue170 Just watch his numerous stand-up specials on Netflix. There's like 3 or 4 of them, and also a brand new special called _John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch_ which I really cant describe...you have to just seek it out for yourself. I love John Mulaney because he makes the smallest things everyone's been through from time to time the most entertaining thing to hear someone talk about

Anyone else notice that he looks like Grant Gustin's brother or something?

He has a GREAT bit about this in his new stand-up special coming soon on Netflix (I saw the show live). I guess a kid came up to him all excited, calling him The Flash. He denied it, but then someone else came by and said that he was a big fan, realizing who he actually is. So the boy’s mom basically called him out for lying.

grapecider And then his wife chided him for it. "So the thing you're frustrated about, is that someone mistook you for a handsome actor in his 20s, who you barely look like, and then someone else said they liked your actual work".
