      I am not a Mac fan, but he is not horrible, just average. For his sake, get him out of here. He would be better in Chicago than what they have. He will be a dink and dunk qb, but you can win 8-11 games with that if your o line is ok and a couple decent receivers are involved.

      @AJ........ 11 месяцев назад +2

      That's actually not true. Brady was obviously great, but the team was a LOT more than him, especially the 1st 3 chips. Bill built amazing teams with tough players who didn't stand for nonsense in the locker room. The problem is this team has no guys like that...very few leaders, especially now that Mccourty is gone. The reality is Kraft has been bottom 5 in the league in spending since he cheaped out on Brady and that's the problem. Kraft isn't trying for chips anymore, he views it as a money making business only now, and it's as simple as money in, but as little out as possible. He wouldn't even give Brady a contract ffs

      Bill failed the team for at minimum 10 years with flopped draft picks. Even further back, 2011 had the worst corners. 2006 had no weapons. I mean in 2013 Bill drafted Dominque Easily with two torn ACLs.
      Yes it isn't just one guy but we've seen for a few seasons now how much Brady really covered up. It's rediculous how much we suck without him.

    I'm not so sure drafting a QB is the right answer. For years, dating back to Brady, the problems on this offense have been protection and talent at the skill positions. You draft a new QB whose running for his life on every down with nowhere to go with the ball, how different is he going to look from Mac? I wonder if it would be better to focus on the O-line to protect the QB and make use of the RBs we have.

    Between recent draft picks and our latest free agent bonanza I think it is incredibly clear Bill should not be in charge of personnel. Period, full stop. This is certainly separate from him being one of if not the greatest coach of all time, and it would be great to see him break Shula's record on the patriots sidelines. But we cannot go on like this.
    I don't think the game has past Bill by but personnel management certainly has. Bill used to say you draft the player you want it doesn't matter what round. That may have worked before but his luck has run out. Examples include Cole Strange and Kyle Dugger , who are guys who could have been drafted 1-3 rounds later than where they drafted. Imagine having a different first round pick instead of strange and still getting him or basically another first round pick instead of Dugger getting him (we didnt even have a first round pick in 2020). Regardless of what we think of those guys, we could have them and then other surrounding players. Until someone gets it right we have to mention Nkeal Harry and how atrocious of a pick that was. You cannot miss like that. The offense CLEARLY needed improvement from last year, and our first offensive player taken in the draft was a center followed by a kicker in round FOUR. That is inexcusable.
    Free agency wise we hit on a few guys but have completely missed on others. Our WR room is in shambles, our OL room is JV. When you cant address those in the draft or hit on free agency it only compounds your problems more. Ill also note we should be paying guys that work for us. We have the money. The boomerang effect has always worked well for the Pats, but Imagine if we didnt let JC Jackson go. I'm glad he is back but had we just paid the man he would have been in our system full time the last two years, gotten better, and then we wouldn't need to burn a first rounder on Gonzales. This has nothing to do with Gonzales as a player, he looked promising, but we could have addressed other needs.
    Bottom line - we need a true GM to wheel and deal and not free ball it in the draft. If Bill cant agree to that I think you have to mutually part. The patriots compete for super bowls and now we are last in the AFC east for quite some time. Look at the last 3 years of the Eagles picks. They went from bottom of the barrel in their division to hitting every single year on picks and free agency and they were a few plays away from winning a super bowl last year. That could be us if we do this right

Then there are teams who take advantage of being in a rare spot of drafting top 5 and capitalize on a special player.
