Yes they both cook with hot air but the physics is different. Convection ovens circulates air around a large oven cavity while air fryer blows hot air directly down onto the food in a confined space. Air fryer fan is behind heating element while convection oven blows air out the side or back oven wall. Focused hot air vs circulation hot air, the mesh basket is why the added title.
Steven I gotcha, The basket would’ve been appropriate but I thought this would make clean up faster. It really didn’t. This is an awesome unit you won’t be disappointed
you can just use the real air fryer basket and put the cooking tray on the bottom to catch the drippings.. works MUCH better that way
