Yes, it's a longer review than some but there's zero chit chat--I tried to keep this super information-packed. If you find it helpful, please share and subscribe to the channel! *I like that I can "fry" something on a whim! An oil fryer takes so much more time to clean and prepare **MyBest.Kitchen** a chore which usually kept me from frying all together. Also, the lack of needing oil to fry means that my family and I are eating healthier... while still enjoying the crispiness of fried foods.*

You can skip the preheat by pressing and holding the start button (benefits of reading the manual lol)

READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL: You mention several times about not liking the pre-heat. From Owners Manual: Pressing START/CANCEL again during preheating will cancel preheating and immediately start cooking.
Also set the fan to High Speed when Air Frying will give you crisper chicken wings. Again from the manual: Use the high fan speed (super convection) for crispier results, and for air frying.

  • @Shelby2880

I ALWAYS read manuals. You can avoid a lot of frustration and discover features and benefits that may not be evident intuitively, not to mention practices that may compromise the longevity of the appliance, void the warranty, or produce undesirable results. Manufacturers want consumers to have success with their products. Future sales depend on it, so manuals are intended to ensure proper use. It’s worth the time to read the manual. If you want to criticize something, criticize a manual for clarity and ease of understanding, but not before you read it. IMO, a review that is based on improper use does a disservice to viewers by wasting their time with misinformation, not to mention unfairly representing the product. A review after using a product for some time is more valuable than an out-of-the box first experience. Rave product reviews at unboxing or on first use are worthless if the product consistently breaks down after an unreasonably short time. A lot of the info in this video was helpful, like size information, but it would have been so much better if it had been approached with correct use as specified in the manual.

Well. . . For those of us that use this oven and love it, you can skip the preheat just by touching the preheat button a second time. Also you can pause the time when opening the door to make changes, stir etc. You give GREAT reviews but at times when you try to do things without reading even a word of the guide, you give misguided and inaccurate reviews bcuz you didn’t operate the machine as required by the manufacturer. Please don’t take offence, it’s just my opinion. I love your reviews and what you do, I have both your air fryer cookbooks already. As a retired Gold Seal Chef I want to say that your cookbooks are stellar and very well done. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing your next one. Hopefully in the next one you’ll at least read the QuickStart guide.
Stay safe and be careful... Kevin🎗

Another one of the many flaws of the Cosori is that you cannot pause the time(r) when opening the day. It just keeps running. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I know, you’d think it would pause but it goes to show the basic thought that was put into the machine. This is one of many reasons I returned mine and bought the Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Fry Oven. I even upgraded to the SMART version with intuitive food thermometer. LOVE IT and so much more versatile and larger.

I bought this unit 2 months ago as a countertop oven when my range oven broke (and as we were selling our house, didn't want to invest in a new one). I primarily use it as a convection oven, broiler, and warmer - and it's fabulous. The preheat function is super frustrating and took me a while to get used to it. As an air-fryer, it's not the best in all my attempts so far to make chips or fries - but today I'll be trying chickpeas from my Instant Pot, and I'll try the broil (carefully) as you suggested. Oh, and I want to throw some love on you ... I overcame my fear and have mastered the art of Instant Pot cooking with the help of your videos and cookbooks!! You have an energetic and confident style that speaks to me. Bless you Urvashi!!!

I’ve had my Cosori since November 2021 and love it! There’s a few comments I want to make reference your video:
    1. I know you don’t care for the preheat feature and you don’t use it. The reason why it wants you to press the start button again, once it reaches its preheat temperature, it’s so we can start the cooking time. The purpose is to get the temperature up to par and that’s when cooking actually starts.
    2. The silicon mats for the crumb tray is an excellent idea. What I also did is put aluminum foil and fitted it around the edges, that way if crumbs or drips or anything else fall onto the crumb tray, the aluminum foil will catch it and then all I have to do is dispose of it and replace it.
    3. This is a question for you being that you were the expert in my eyes! I tried to air fry french fries that I made, meaning that they were raw, made from scratch. The preset time and temperature did not cut it. What do you recommend I do for french fries that I make from scratch?

Taking a little longer to cook means a little drier food result!! I'll stay with my 5.8 qt Cosori, thank you very much!!! The problem with these ovens is that they are facing a limit of necessary power from a 110 volt outlet. The smaller air fryers ALREADY consume about the limit of available power from the kitchen outlet! Trying to get more energy from a typical 20 Amp 110 Volt circuit will simply blow a fuse! Having more food in the oven means it will take more energy to cook at the same speed that the smaller Cosori will cook at. So with a limit of energy, it simply takes longer to get the same degree of 'cook' per food item in the larger Cosori. Longer cook means a drier result. NOT GOOD!! YOU DID A MARVELOUS REVIEW!! Thank you for your honesty!..Ron K.

I still like that it does so many things, since I don't have room for lots of appliances in my kitchen. Urvashi, I am so grateful that you are so opinionated and mouthy. I can't stand chatty people (talking for the sake of making noise or seeming to be friendly). Opinionated and mouthy is so real. And trustworthy. I'm a "no bs kind of person; say what matters . . . and . . . it matters what you say.
Oh, and btw, great review. I was wondering about these things and which would be better for me, the egg or the oven. I bought a 30. 1.3 qt egg this summer and just before Christmas an oven for 68.,1/2 price) on Black Friday. I prefer the oven for the 'plug it in and leave it till you need it' ease of use. This confirmed my feelings towards both and taught me to get a mat to cover the crumb tray. I just covered it with foil for now but hate using foil. They get tears in them and the item they are protecting gets dirty anyway so if I'm going to have to wash something, it's better if it's something I can wipe off and reuse. I hate creating un-necessary garbage, not because I am so Green but because the bag is gets heavier to carry to the curb (or trash bin).
I don't like the need to press the Start button after the preheat. The one I got doesn't do that. I guess there is something to be said for one with less bells & whistles. I also found placing a silicon mat on the top - without covering the vents - does an excellent job keeping my upper cupboards cool/warm to the touch. There. That's me being opinionated and mouthy. ;-)

  • @jdncpa73
    @jdncpa73 4 года назад +6

The preheat keeps beeping until you push the button because the oven cannot assume you put the food in exactly when the preheat beeped the first time. Instead it waits for you to confirm the food is inserted. Otherwise you would have to reset the timer if you waited too long to put the food in. Sounds like a smart design to me.

Your comment on not liking mandatory preheat on Cosori overlooked 2 good features. You can choose to preheat with toast function. Then, when you start cooking and preheat function begins, you can push the button again and preheat will stop and food will cook for the entered time. Or you can omit preheating with toast function, add 3 minutes to estimated cooking time, and press the start/cancel button twice as mentioned above. I only read the instructions for my new Cosori oven because I watched your presentation and was sure there would be a workaround.

I've measured the heating elements at its highest temp with a laser temp gun and it can go up to 450 F after the pre heat and airfryer setting for about 20 min. Most silicone mats are rated up to 450 F so I'm curious.

Can I ask you: would you recommend this Cosori over two ovens I'm looking at right now?

if you hit the start button while in pre heat it will go straight into regular cooking and by pass the pre heat cycle. you dont have to wait for the extra pre heat cycle. plus you can put the baking pan in the first slot to cant the dripping for better clean up

Exactly. I always have the baking/roasting pan under anything that’s going to drip oil. That crumb pan is more for catching...well, crumbs! Dry foods. Definitely not primarily for greasy foods. And that’s right about the pre-heat button. You can bypass it or hit it again to cook.

2 comments .. One you can cancel the Pre Heat if you hit the button again.. 2nd comment is just put the baking pan on bottom and it will catch the drippings vs onto the drip tray and much easier to clean

Renita, you are absolutely correct on both points. I did a rotisserie chicken with the drip tray , but after ten minutes I switched to the baking pan to avoid a big mess. I also added water to the pan to avoid any smoke and baked on grease. The chicken turned out perfect !!!!

I loved your review. I have a question regarding the toaster oven air fryer. I was wondering is it possible to make things like pakoras and baturas in the toaster over air fryer. I noticed that some one said in the Breville Toaster oven airfyer that the food being air fried should not drip. But you know pakoras and koftas it can drip. Can you please help.

I definitely don't mind a little added time, if you consider that you can get about twice as many in there. In the long run, it still takes less time to cook 16 wings in this one than it would in the Ninja.

Very nicely explained. During this lockdown period i was tempted to try my hand in kitchen by making a few snack items. looking at the video just now, i have some questions 1 ) can we have 3 shelves for air frying only.( with modified trays ) I need to use the air fryer for a one specific item in large volumes. What is the country of mfg, what is the cost, & time to receive in Pune.

Does the Breville also have a crazy pre-heat problem like this Cosori? If no, that's why there's a price difference. The Breville also is more solid according to what you said. This unit is thinner.

Ralph Denino one could use the roaster tray as a drip tray but then of course that will need cleaning. All the oven air fryers operate the same way.
