Great review. I was teetering between this oven and the Ninja Foodi Pro XL air fry oven. I ended up getting the Ninja Foodi oven during a Black Friday sale. So it’s refreshing to see it is still the reigning champ!

My primary issue is non-toxicicity and there are very few decent air fryers that fit that bill and over 100% stainless steel. I didn't know about the app so I'm definitely in on it now. Also, I primarily as a carnivore so I do cook that heavy foods. I'm just going to have to deal with that I suppose.

    • @WaveOvenRecipes
      @WaveOvenRecipes  9 дней назад

If you are concerned about toxicity. The "waves" from an app and device should also be considered.
For the lowest toxicity, there is maybe 1 all/mostly glass air fryer out there. I do not recall its name, and have not reviewed it. But, there is more to be mindful of than metals.

Thanks for checking out the Cosori toaster oven. I'm the one who suggested you check it out a couple months ago. You and I agree about some things and disagree on others.
    Where we agree:
    1. I agree 100% that smoke production can be a problem when cooking greasy foods like bacon in the Cosori. I love sausage patties for instance, however they produce a ton of grease and the first time I made them in this oven it was a smokey experience to say the least. I didn't have a huge difficulty overcoming this problem though. One of the things you pointed out in your review is that this oven cooks on the hotter side reducing cook times when compared to other toaster ovens. The simplest solution for me to reduce smoke was simply to lower temp which does extend cooking times. This sounds worse than it actually is as doing this merely puts it in line with other toaster ovens cook times. This results in a reduction in smoke, at least it has for what I cook. It's a fairly simple solution to the problem, it did take me a few tries to make the right adjustments but once I did the results were repeatable.
    2. I agree that for other cooking tasks the Cosori handles them with ease.
    Where we disagree:
    1. I have zero issues with the two prong rotisserie spit. I've never had a problem with two prong spits though whether in a toaster oven or outdoor grill. So far I have cooked whole rotisserie chickens, turkey breast and beef roasts in it without complications. The biggest challenge anytime I rotisserie is setting up on the spit properly meaning doing my best to well balance whatever I'm cooking and choosing the best area to insert my forks. I haven't had time to watch your rotisserie video yet so have no idea if I have any suggestions on how to improve your results. Life has been so very busy lately that I simply haven't had time to do much viewing on RUclips but I will take time to watch it when I can and if I have any suggestions I feel will be of help I will mention them in the videos comments then.
    2. We disagree on the overall usefulness of the app as I find it not terribly useful. When I purchased this oven I was extremely excited about the wifi app because I have mobility challenges and getting up and down is more of a challenge for me than most. I was hoping to be able to use the Wi-Fi app to preheat the oven allowing me to preheat then get up once, insert my food and cook. For people with disabilities like myself this was something I was really looking forward to. For others the prospect of getting up and down once or twice is not a huge matter to consider. Since the app requires you to physically press the button to start the oven it removes the possibility of doing this but I do understand the reason they do it this way is for safety. They did not want accidental starting to ever happen and forcing physical interaction removes the potential of accidental starting completely.
I agree that other app features such as saving favorites are very handy and that smart assistant integration needs a lot of work to actually be useful. Thankfully since the smartphone app and the oven firmware are upgradable there is no reason these features can't be improved upon in the future if Cosori decides to do so. The coolest thing about the app integration is that the actual oven firmware is upgradable so features can be added and there is potential for new functions to be added down the line including the possibility of remembering the last settings used.
    3. I find the interface quite easy to use and understand why certain features are absent. For instance, I do wish the ability to remember the last used settings was there but understand it goes against their intended use of the oven. If you read the manual they recommend unplugging the unit after each use for safety purposes so with that in mind they probably see it as unnecessary and that adding that ability would actually encourage people to keep it plugged in. This is probably also the reason the display does not include simple things like a clock. A clock would be unnecessary if the oven is not intended to be left connected to power when not in use.
As always your review are top knotcg and full of information the others simply do not provide, thank you for your thorough observations. I'm happy to be subscribed!
Oh! One question, did you try the dehydrate feature yet?

@@WaveOvenRecipes Thank you for your suggestion. I'll check out the video but I have personally sworn off purchasing a Ninja product ever again so they have an uphill battle to win me back. This was due to their failure to honor the warranty on a blender I purchased years ago. I have always subscribed to the "fool me once" philosophy and it is hard to change as it has served me well over the years. I am a fairly loyal customer if treated well but have a long memory when treated poorly. I hope they have changed their ways but the thought of giving them my money again in order to find out doesn't give me pleasant thoughts. Businesses should consider the impact of how saving a buck on warranty service can cost them a customer for life.
If you don't mind a long winded story to provide contrast to my past Ninja experience, Cosori has treated me quite well. There was a missing part in the packaging of the oven I purchased. I reached out to Cosori support asking them to ship me the part. They informed me they were sorry but they were unable to give me a timeframe for shipment due to their operations being impacted by the wildfires that were occurring in California at the time. Completely understandable. They suggested that it would be quicker for me if I asked Amazon for a shipping label and returned it for a replacement or refund. I declined explaining that the oven is quite large, bulky, awkward and would be difficult for me to carry inside a UPS drop off location due to my mobility issues (yes I know Amazon always asks you to drop off first then if you are persistent they will begrudgingly agree to pay extra for a pickup from home). On top of this, although I am a Prime member, Amazon took two weeks to ship the oven to me in the first place so a delay was likely to happen either way. I said that I was in no immediate rush for the part and asked them to ship it when they were able to do so.
My point in telling this story is to point out that Cosori was more concerned about me being inconvenienced by having to wait when their operations were likely in chaos because of wildfires! Approximately two weeks passed and the part arrived in the mail along with an apology for the inconvenience and delay in sending it to me. I didn't have to fight, debate or remind them to send it. Compare this to my experience with Ninja who after requiring me to submit photos declined my request for warranty service and declared my attempt to blend ice for a smoothie as MISUSE of their blender!
After typing all of this out I have to admit that it is possible this experience has impacted my view of the Cosori oven and my willingness to look past some of its shortcomings. I try to be logical in my assessments but I can't completely discount the possibility that on a subconscious level it has. A smokey kitchen from making sausage patties should upset me, I suppose, even if I found a work around for it. As I said above, when treated well I am a loyal customer. Cosori has impressed me in how they "seem to" value me as a customer. This is the way you earn a loyal customer base.
Anyway, if you actually read all of my rambling story I want to say thank you, that I DO APPRECIATE your recommendation and I WILL WATCH your video because I trust your integrity and review process. I may even give Ninja another try after I look into their more recent customer service history. Perhaps they've changed since their "As Seen on TV" days, I admit that I don't know. I just don't want to relive the same experience. As I said, I believe in the "Fool me once, shame on you" philosophy. I do not want to experience the "Fool me twice, shame on me" part of it.

Using the oven with Alexa (rather than the app itself), you dont need to press the button. I was surprised the app requires it, but Alexa doesn't.

Hi from 🇨🇦 Doug . . Hope you and the fam are well sir. Another great 30 day review and I couldn’t agree more. I had this Cosori Air Oven and had to send it back bcuz I had issues with it. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Ninja DT251 SMART Foodi XL Pro Air Oven with the intuitive thermometer and I absolutely LOVE it! I really enjoyed the Cosori until it started to act up but like you said, there is no real comparison to the Ninja. With its Surround Heat Technology it’s by far one of, if the not the best Air Oven on the market. As always, thanks for another #Honest #StraightForward review and I’m sure I’ll see you in the next one. Until then, #StaySafe 😷 & #HappyCooking 🍗. Kevin🎗

I liked the hard cooking it did, but you pretty much had to dial it down 50 degrees or things could char. The dial acted up, and I returned it and got ninja dt251 smart foodi xl. Have you tried the Beeville line?
Cooking hotter is due to wattage. Some are 1500 watts. This COSORI is 1800 watts.
Smoke, too close to heating element. Try water in drip tray.

So dont cook greasy foods..Bad for you anyway..This oven is the best I've seen.
The app was not a selling point for me, and I found it useless without being able to push the start button so since you are there might as well set it manually..
Very easy to use and use this everyday.. Easy to clean and use the rotisserie all the time!... Has a hotter cooking temp than many others which Is a definite plus.. Can fit a Le Cruset dutch oven in it and that works great.. Air fryer works real well too.. Super quiet!.. 5/5
Buy this you wont regret it!!!
Its a $200 unit and I found it as good as the Breville and $200 cheaper!!

    Great review but one question?
i have the Emeril Lagasse Air Fryer 360XL works great but the inside is filthy is the Cosori better to keep clean.
I love the idea of the Smart Features using the App and I would use it with Alexa, but as i found out having the Crockpot with Alexa Built in you have to unplug it after its used or Alexa will turn itbuy mistake so i would keep this oven unplugged until im ready to use it.
