After connecting the HDMI cable to your Desktop or Laptop, if you do not see the display on the connected devices then one reason could be having the Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor Drivers are installed by default and you have not either updated or installed the correct display drivers according to your model.
So, for better performance, stability, and to connect other display device with HDMI port and also for the HDMI Audio to work, it is advisable that you must install the display drivers.
