    My baby girl just turned 3 weeks and I haven’t done much to her hair. I just lay a silk scarf under her head when she is laying down. I don’t plan on doing anything until she is about 4-6 weeks. I have the same products as you but the Jamaican black castor oil has lavender infused. It says it is 100% natural and pure. I don’t like the smell of Jamaican black castor oil but do you think the oil with lavender in it will be too much for her as a newborn?

    • @misselle1430
      @misselle1430 2 года назад

      Good idea with just laying a scarf down. I'll do the same. Coz I don't like the idea of anything on her head. I feel like might not be so safe just yet as too young. I love lavender but my skin is just to sensitive for it so m scared to use it on my girl.
      How did you go with your lo hair journey??

    • @khaliaw.6004
      @khaliaw.6004 2 года назад +1

      @@misselle1430 To me the black castor oil really didn’t make a difference. I stopped using it and starting using coconut oil because it was a lighter. I used it when she was about 5 months every other day. Not sure if that made a difference in her hair growth either but over time her hair did grow on it’s on. I also use Cantù kids products for her hair too. She is 14 months now and her hair in the back has grown in fully. It’s long enough to fit in ponytails but I don’t because I don’t want to cause too much tension. I’ll just wait til it gets longer and catch up with the rest of her hair.

      @@khaliaw.6004 ny girl is 7 months now n I feel like I can now get serious with her hair routine. She shed her hair from 2 months than it grew back minus the back area. Plus its soft all over apart from the middle part. I love coconut oil but I break out from it too unfortunately. So am thinking jojoba oil for scalp as it worked for me before might go back to it. I'll try the baby line for cantu as well. Ty

      I wouldn’t suggest using it everyday because it’s such a heavy oil. I definitely do suggest getting her a satin bonnet though, it makes a huge difference. It’s better for your baby’s head to rub against satin than cotton, cotton causes friction which leads to hair loss.

    This video helps, my daughter has lost so much hair from birth, she’s 3 months almost 4. I used coconut oil but it’s done nothing but dry her. I will have to use the Jamaican castor oil, and get a bonnet. My daughter moves a lot in her bed while sleeping, will this fall off in her sleep ?

    • @yaniiibear
      @yaniiibear  4 года назад +5

      I’m glad I could help! I’ve found the avocado oil helps a lot too with dryness, but find what works best for your little one. My daughter is a wild sleeper too. I’m not going to lie we’ve had a couple of nights where it has come off, but for the most part it stays on through the night.

      I currently use coconut oil and it does dry her hair out. I'll try the castor oil.

    • @yaniiibear
      @yaniiibear  3 года назад +3

      If you find that the coconut oil is drying, try avocado oil. I’ve found that it helps with the moisture retention in my hair & my daughters. I suggest only using the castor oil on the scalp, I find it to be too heavy for the hair strands.

    It’s nice that you do a lot to your babies hair, seems like she loves the scalp massages.
    But for babies hair, they really don’t need castor oil and satin bonnets. Babies hair will naturally shed and grow back, that’s the norm. It will even shed under that bonnet or when you wash her hair. A little coconut oil, or evoo is good for making combing certain hair textures easier.
    Jus saying for new moms who don’t know, doing this is not what stops a babies hair from breaking, nor does it really promote growth.

    • @yaniiibear
      @yaniiibear  4 года назад +13

      Everything that I did in this video worked for my child which is why I shared the info... I noticed that her shedding minimized & the breakage completely stopped once I started using the satin bonnets because sleeping on cotton sheets isn’t good for ANYONES hair... babies or adults. Her hair barely sheds now that I use it. Yes... everyone’s hair goes through stages where it sheds but her hair should not be breaking off because of her sheets. The castor oil helped to grow the breakage back... coconut oil is a no no for us, but thank you.
