#deftones #rosemary - Видеоклипы
Rosemary for me is just a "close your eyes and disappear" type song and feeling. Just a mental escape and I love every second of it
I always found deftones music is like a painting with textures you can feel, but inside your mind. I don't know any other band that can just drop a dome of dreamlike atmosphere right on you.
Want more Deftones? Do some older stuff, like Bored or Engine No. 9 - super classics
Xerces is very underrated for this type of mood
Honestly most of this album is. Koi No Yokan is a beautiful setpiece
That is how I hear them always but certain tunes more then others are moodier and yes this is definitely one of them!
my mom was playing this song when i woke up 4 years ago after i overdosed and i used to not be able to listen to it, but now that im older and my state is progressing i genuinely have so much love for this song.
I'm a very simple man I see deftones i click
Yea get your tik tok ass out of here lol
Same
Dude same!!!
Agreed 👍
Same here brother
Their bassist had just died after a car crash when this album was written and it is a love letter to him. Many of the songs can be thought of as a grand space adventure through time and space with his friend who passed. Entombed is another great one from this album that definitely has a similar, yet softer vibe.
One love for Chi 🙏🏼♥️
@@timdjones5 amen 🙏
Don't forget about Eros
pretty sure Chi passed in 2013. This album came out in 2012 though.
The lyrics Chino wrote with Palms definitely speak to Chi as well
Deftones is not about getting into the groove, it's about BEING the groove
Chino's voice is like a velvet covered fist to the gut. He always brings it
Sounds like a heroin rush! A warm velvety gut punch that tickles your innards. But that’s deftones. Very dreamy, and euphoric. Love it.
that is a strangley good description
Koi No Yokan is not just my favorite Deftones album but one of my all time favorite albums of any genre 🫠
My favorite album of theirs too.
Definitely agree! I'm beyond glad that the Deftones album with my favorite material has not only my favorite production, but it even has a full dynamic range master available on HDTracks, which absolutely blows me away every time.
That’s a bold statement but doesn’t beat out White Pony as far as Deftones goes
Agree to that!
@Brian Chiaro white Pony isn't as good as Diamond or Koi but to each their own.
This song is kinda like an acid trip for me. Its super spacey and ethereal until the shit hits the fan, the heavy part is when the trip starts to get serious and then you're coming down and feel super vulnerable. Love Deftones.
Funny enough, when this album dropped, I took 2 hits of LSD to listen to it in full for my first time. Best trip I have ever had and this album can never be listened to without those feelings now.
Deftones are one of the most inventive popular metal bands of all time. They are masters of having a wide appeal while remaining innovative with each album.
"Popular metal" being your subgenre
Why can't people have an independent thought without making it some espn top list or hollow "one of the best" opinion lmao
They're also one of the few bands who released some of their very best material pretty late into their career. Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan might be the best two albums they've ever released.
@@travistotle totally agree, they were both solid albums
@@failtolawl Sorry I don't watch sports.
Glad y’all are loving this!! I’ve been waiting on another reaction for Deftones because they are one of my favorite bands of all time!!
This whole album is pretty trippy, I love the whole thing. If I had to put money on it.. I'd say they're gonna like Goon Squad and Gauze the most.
You can clearly see they didn't really like It
@@kristiankrastanov1579 I think they'll grow into liking it more but you gotta be in the right mood
They were not loving it lol
@@mcpure9083 Yea they were they just thought the very end was too long to close the song lmao!!
One of my FAVORITE songs of all time.... not just Deftones.... ALL TIME. I thought you'd love it. 🤷♂️
Same! It's also one of my favorites. I feel like maybe they should let this song grow on them and give it another chance in the future. Maybe after a couple of listens they'll feel differently about it 🤔
This song definitely had to grow on me and now it's one of my favs, so hopefully when they re-listen they have a similar experience.
With you bro!
I feel like all their songs work much better in context of the given record
These guys take shit too seriously and you can tell even after all the stuff theyve listen to they just cant escape that pocket no matter how much they preach free minds or whatever
That whole album is flawless. “Goon Squad” is a banger
❤
Such an amazing song ❤
Oh I totally agree! It's up there with White Pony 🐎
that's maybe the weakest song on kny and still a banger
@@il_billone yeah maybe but I just love how it slow builds into an absolute banger
This song portrays an emotion. Its not about fancy change ups or pop beats. This is done deliberately to convey an emotion. In which it has succeeded.
This song deserves to be played along with the album. It's like consuming one page of a book.
Nah this song is a whole book itself
Leathers is a great song on this record that deserves a listen.
also poltergeist
It might be hard to really dig deep into Deftones if you're worried about things like _"it went on just a little bit too long."_ Their music wants to take you on a journey, so you've gotta be willing to go with the flow.
Yeah right? if you don't like "it went on just a little bit too long." just listen to NOFX or Municipal Waste
@@khamul29 if you're worried about it went on just a little too long, listen to you suffer but why by Napalm Death.
has an opinion> BUT MAYBE YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND DEFTONES /s
@@KOOLMEMER I didn't say their opinion wasn't valid or borne of ignorance. I merely mean to suggest that having a different perspective on how best to approach the material might increase one's appreciation of it.
I don't think the length bothered them tbh; easily one of the most positive reactions they've ever had to a song was their reaction to Blackwater Park by Opeth, which is over 12 minutes.
Ryan said (of Rosemary) that he felt it dragged, which doesn't necessarily mean the length was much of an issue for him, but that he felt there wasn't enough variance to keep him engaged over that time. I will say, that I personally do feel that the riff at the end of Blackwater Park gets milked a lot more than anything in this song, but I think it just goes hard enough that they didn't mind, whereas a more mellow sound doesn't really grab them as much.
"Koi No Yokan" is definetly one of those albums there the cover art represents excactly the sound of it imo. Songs like Rosemary and Entombed evoque this image so good!
Goon Squad and Tempest are two from this album that are absolute bangers yall should check out
Temptest is sooo good!
Agree! I'd add Gauze as well!
Gauze is so underrated
Swerve city yall
What Happened To You and Goon Squad for me.
Hole in the Earth is essential Deftones.
That’s the first song I was introduced to by them in the saints row 2 radio lol
Rosemary is definitely a “close your eyes with headphones alone” type of song. Koi no yokan is Deftones shoegazy elements turned up to 11
I didn't like koi when it first dropped, but over the years, it's grown on me to be one of my favorite albums. Damn near every song is a great cruising song.
Hell yeah. This album has its own unique sound. Def underrated.
Yea I threw it in my car for a few weeks and it's now one of my favourite deftones albums.
Definitely grew on me quickly.
I'll say it as ALWAYS....when they brought Frank in and added what he does....keys, turntables, sampling.....he really opened up another level to Deftones....as someone who has been listening to them since Adrenaline(saw them live for that album) .....it's been a killer addition to the band
I say it every time myself, Frank Delgado is the MAN
I was skeptical at first. But he's a keeper.
Frank is the secret sauce
Koi No Yokan means it’s not love at first sight, but love is inevitable.
That really is what this album is, not at first but inevitably 👍
One of their best albums. Has a lot of interesting stuff, and some great tracks.
Koi-No-Yokan is one of those non-English words that doesn’t really have a super apt translation. It’s Japanese, and can roughly be surmised as “love at second sight,” basically the feeling not of instant love and attraction, but of the sense that a strong relationship is inevitable. Some people you don’t immediately fall in love with, but you know that they’re your people, and you know that you’re in the right place when they’re around. It’s a fascinating concept!
The album deals a lot with relationships, and Gauze is probably my favorite song off it. One of the lyrics off that track is, “I can’t stop what you began… I can’t fight for what you began.” You can see how the theme of the title makes itself apparent!
Favorite Deftones song 🖤
The next time you are driving through the desert at night on your way to LA, give Rosemary another listen.
In the same way that there are some songs you put on your workout playlist, Deftones are absolutely mood music.
I feel the same thing George does with the parallel universe thing. This song definitely has a trippy sound
I feel like this song is a grower in the sense that it gets better when you already know what’s coming. On first listen it’s very unexpected and jarring especially if you’re used to their heavier work or their softer/more sexualised stuff. But when you step back and look at the song for what it is; the build up, the thudding drums, the chunkiness of the guitars, the spacey vocals, the first chorus not being full and then the second chorus adding on the next part to it, and then that riff at the end. MAN. To me that is some of the heaviest stuff I’ve ever heard and not on raw surface value, but within the context of the song. The whole song building to that last part absolutely destroying for a whole minute hits me different. I just feel like some people like Deftones for their ‘sexy’ gimmick songs and some people enjoy the whole spectrum
Favourite Deftones songs
-Poltergeist
-Genesis
-Dai the flu
-Prayers/Triangles
-Battle axe
-Cherry waves
This is their masterpiece, imo. It's flipped a lot of people to Deftones' fans. Great composition. Wonder if this grew on you.
I struggled to really get into Deftones until I discovered this song. Such an incredible track
Ima have to agree, this one open the door for me on them. It took me a while to get into chinos voice. But now deftones is top 5 all time band for me now.
yall started listening to deftones like 15 minutes ago
@@YungGrandson found the true OG badass
It flipped me, for sure.
omg I just searched for "reaction rosemary deftones" and your video said "posted 2 minutes ago" 😂 excited for your guys reaction! been subscribed since you reacted to type o negative 🤗
If you allow atmospheric music to fully suck you in to the ATMOSPHER, you guys will open your mind to alot more music than just catching the catchy 'groove' of songs
They need a trip into shoegaze
Yea music is music. But I think they’re more groove heavy in they’re preference. It’s gotta be more straightforward and to the point. But over time I think they have and will begin to absorb it differently. Takes time to open up to certain music
I think the airy floaty stuff they’re referring to what chino does is what i think is hard for them to get into. Ngl it took me a while to get into that sound to. I mainly just looked for the groove parts as well. Some music has to grow on you overtime. Next thing you know you love it all.
But it's up to the music to be able to do that. The individual too, but the music just has to be able to take you in with it's flow. Pink Floyd do that brilliantly.
@@thetrappedchatterbox7941 That's part of the problem when it comes to space rock songs. The duo can't let the music flow for possible copyright violations so they have to repeatedly interrupt the song instead of just letting go.
I've just been going through Deftones for the first time literally like 2 days ago and I have been LOVING Rosemary, Entombed etc. etc. I CANNOT believe you guys are actually taking a look at the song I only just started loving.
literally same haha, going to check out entombed now
ENTOMBED is an Amazing song.
Damn... that would be amazing to be able to hear those songs for the first time again. For the chill side of Deftones make sure you also check out What Happened To Us, Sextape, Beauty School, 976-Evil, KimDracula, Cherry Waves, Xerces, Digital Bath, Be Quiet and Drive, Knife Prty, and then definitely check out Tropics by Palms (one of Chino's side projects), Ever by Team Sleep (another of Chino's side projects), and also Crosses (another of Chino's side projects).
Entombed is phenomenal.
SAAAME dude this & Sextape
This song is very synesthetic to me. The break down at the end for me is the sound of going through a black hole and then the section after is the beautiful realm at the other side.
Be Quiet and Drive is Deftones' most iconic song, can't believe you haven't done it yet given how many you've covered 😭 You keep picking their "trippy" songs instead of their bangers, you loved My Own Summer so maybe do more from that era...
The band really changed their style up after their 2nd album as they tried to distance themselves (especially Chino) from the "nu metal" label, but that doesn't mean some of their earlier raw stuff doesn't rock - and is probably more your style. Songs like:
- Be Quiet & Drive
- Bored
- 7 Words
- Engine no. 9
- Around the Fur
- Headup
etc etc.
how have they not done "Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)"? I find that nuts!
Yeah it's crazy
This song just makes me wanna go out for a night drive and then get high, laying on top of the hood my car looking up at the stars, while it just plays on repeat.
You sound like my girlfriend. Deftones are an ultimate couple band if that makes sense?
@@beefcheeks9353 they're sex-metal, duh.
@@VonneDutch Only gave them a listen when I met her. "Sex metal" heh
@@VonneDutch lol the typical sex metal term for deftones. Lol tik tok fans are the worst
About damn time, gang!🔥 We needa’ see y’all react to Cherry Waves or Sextape🙌🏽
Love your Deftones reactions, I find myself watching your videos multiple times because I love the band so much haha, can’t wait for Be Quiet and Drive one day.. 🫣
This has become one of my favorite Deftones songs! It will grow on you…
Deftones is one of my favorite bands and this is my favorite song by them. Legendary. They were my first concert and they played this. It was incredible
this is one of those songs that you listen to alone chilling out and closing your eyes
Deftones White Pony album is definitely in my top twenty or even ten albums of all time.
Entombed is my favorite song on this album. Probably my favorite Deftones toon.
Very underrated, beautiful song
To me, Deftones is a different kinda band. its more than the sum of its parts... its like automatically understanding all the details of a painting if the painting was actually made of sound. its a mood, a feel, a trip.
According to Chino in an interview, some of then lyrics of "Rosemary" is about dealt in the experience of time traveling.
However, I saw a comment that perfectly coordinate with the song:
_“We play in dreams” might mean that Chino and Chi can meet up in dreams and experience good times again together as friends and bandmates. “Just stay with me” is calling for Chi to come out of his coma (which he was in at the time)…his death unfortunately occurred after this album was released, but perhaps it always was meant as calling Chi’s spirit to stay with them. The song points to transcending the confines of the body and limited world, of time and space._
@@billyhoeflinger4971 Negative. Chi passed in April 2013. This album released in 2012
@@eric_stewart the quote they used literally says Chino died after the album came out…can you not read?
@@Zanza007 I can read just fine, boss. The person I was correcting who has since deleted his comment, however, could not
glad you guys got this. love this song so much
You have to listen to Tempest. Its on this same album, and it is just a champion of a song.
'Lhabia' and 'Leathers' have been my favorites recently. Both great songs by Deftones.
"I need a changeup."
You got it.
Wow. I haven’t really listened to Deftones in 20 some years. I’m digging this one! My band opened for these guys 20+ years ago.
i been with you guys for years. all of a sudden you pop up with a great song like this. you guys are the best. i think its about time i join the patreon. cheers from Oz boys
I’m a huge deftones fan. This is my favorite song! I love you guys so much. Thank you
Been waiting for this. Always wondered why the patron link didn't work lol. Love you guys. Thanks.
Just discovered your channel. DEFTONES are my jam. Love your commentary❤
This song is beautiful and amazing is one of my favorites by Deftones.
You guys are amazing man and artistic is not a bad description, deftone’s are so diverse
This is one of those tracks that showcases Stephen Carpenter's genius. When we moved to Sac we lived not far from where Deftones went to HS, and everyone in town who has been here 10+ years has a Deftones story. One of my top five favorite bands of all time.
First time I ever heard this I had headphones on during a thunderstorm...great visuals. All I think about when I hear it
Five words usually come to mind when deftones comes on “this is a badass jam”
This is definitely one that grows on you. The time will come when this pops up randomly on your Spotify and you will be so happy to welcome it.
“s**tape” is for me the quintessential Deftones song. Chino’s best vocal performance, Deftones’ smoothest and most melodic track since Change. it’s a tightly crafted mid tempo radio song which I think you would both really vibe with more so than a deep cut like this.
Can't believe it's been 5 years since y'all started this channel. Time really flies right on by like it's nothing. Love you guys hope you guys are living life to the fullest.
Glad you guys came back to Deftones! love your reactions still.
Love Deftones! So happy you all finally got to this one. It's one of my absolute favorites!
Love this song and Deftones and Lost in Vegas!
probably my favorite Deftones song. You guys crushed it.
One of my favourite songs of theirs. Glad you guys did a reaction to it. Been a Deftones fan since the 90's and have seen them every time they come down here to Australia 😎 Give Hexagram, Bloody Cape, Around The Fur, a listen
Guys, RESPECT. This was fire! Loved your reaction, and I’m a MASSIVE Deftones fanatic!
This song is for those times when you’ve had a mentally draining day, and just want to lay down, close your eyes and decompress. That’s when you can really appreciate the musical experience.
That is completely accurate, I think the first time I heard this song was after a 10 hour shift during my long drive home.
Definitely in my top 3 Deftones songs all time. So glad you guys reacted to this!!
Koi No Yokan. I remember hearing this back in 2012. I’ve been in love with Deftones ever since. Seen them twice live. Best experiences ever.
You guys need to listen to Be Quiet and Drive!! It’s a top 5 deftones song fs
Yes!!!!!
This album was written with original bassist Chi Cheng was still in a coma after a car crash, but the lyrics that Chino wrote for Rosemary seem to fit about dealing with this tragedy.
This album works best as a full listen. The lengthy ending of this song transitions perfectly into the next song on the album.
This song is definitely a grower. I know some would say that good music has to catch you the first time, but I don't think that's the case. I really wasn't too fond of this song when I first heard it, but the more I heard it from just listening to the album, the more I've grown to love it. I do agree y'all should give it another listen. If it still doesn't hit, that's totally okay too. As far as other Deftones songs to check out, I'd suggest Rocket Skates(a bit heavier and more old school deftones sound) or Tempest(same album as Rosemary, but much more fast paced.)
Couldn't agree more mate. I was the same with a good few Tool songs too 🎵
You HAVE to check out the music video for “Romantic Dream” so amazing and the atmosphere to the song is amazing!
YES Artistic is the word, it paints pictures in you mind made of your memories and puts you back in touch with yourself. Great vid guys
Strongly recommend seeing them live because this song and entombed and diamond eyes live in person will change you.
thank you so much for a reaction to this been watching you guys for years.. truly special song for me ..but you have to feel it not disscet it.. its meant to transport you and allow you to feel..
I love you guys. The best at breaking down songs
literally havent even watched it yet - im one minute in and just want to say THANK YOU - this song came in my life in such a crazy serendipitous way and listened and listened and listened and listened and listened, this was years ago and i listened to it again last week... THANK YOU
Koi no yokan means “premonition of love” I always loved this album title paired with this cover which is the infinity room! I highly suggest you guys listen to MX! I’ve never thought I could pick a favorite track from deftones, but for some reason this is the song that I have always come to over and over, I bet you two would dig it!
Even as a DEFTONES fan since the 90s, this is one I'm hearing the first time myself with you guys - I think. I love these guys though and you guys too I'm looking forward to it
Huh - I may have heard this before. I really can't tell. Most of the stuff I love by these guys are either metal(ish) or have this same floaty, psychedelic feel to it. One of the first memories I have of listening to these guys was tripping balls with some friends of mine and their song Fireal got stuck on repeat for HOURS. This, while absolutely not the same vibe from those days, still kinda gives me a similar feel.
Fckn love you guys, you're funny, the reactions are so real and wholesom and fuuckin aye! Haha
This is my favorite song ever thanks for doing it
In my opinion the essence of Deftones is their atmospheric or floating sound. You can't say that "it's too long for me" if it's the changes that really make this great band unique. I value that and I hope they continue to do so.
I love you guys Deftones are so dope !!!
This whole album!! And, yeah, listening on camera and analyzing a song definitely takes on a different feel. This is a song you need to just chill to..
This is probably their best album. Check out "Leathers"
Always been one of my favorites Def Tones songs!
I think ya'll would dig Entombed more for this album
but yeah that's a top 3 deftones for me, chorus is majestic
Im glad you did this song, honestly this is one of deftones most powerful songs
OMG, my fave Deftones song. So glad you did this.
Love this song, I would love a tour with Deftones, Sleep Token and A Perfect Circle. I feel like they all have the same vibe at points.
This was the album I started with when I found Deftones. My favorite for sure
I love this whole album. This was the first Deftones album I listened to start to end. Love it.
That's how I felt about a lot of their songs when I first started getting into Deftones but it's like the more you listen to the songs the more you start liking them..then all of a sudden the songs you thought were just ok at first become some of your favorite ones..that's how I felt when I first heard rosemary..It didn't fully catch my attention first now I listen to it atleast 3 times a day and became one of my favorite songs
I’ve so been waiting on this. Omg.
Great reaction guys! As a fan This was one of the last physical cds I bought and had an atmospheric experience.
I've been so ready for this holy shit
It was available on their site for free for a couple years. 😀
