Deftones is most underrated band
I remember reading a magazine article that called Deftones "the Miss Congeniality of metal" in that nearly every band in the entire metal genre will list Deftones as an inspiration or one of their favourite bands, but never get the spotlight that those other bands do. Deftones doesn't really need mainstream success, but part of me wishes they were a household name because they deserve it.
yes, its cool that band didnt hardened by mainstream and now its like "secret music not for everyone".

The guitar break at the end is the heaviest damn thing you will ever hear. It has it's own gravity, a density so severe you feel it in your soul.
This song always makes me feel like I'm floating in space looking down on the Earth.

I can't believe you guys actually found this and reacted to it. I'm a huge deftones fan and this has always been one of my personal favorites and I think it is one of the best songs they ever wrote. This is kick fucking ass.
What a great song to react to! Chino's voice ando overall atmosphere (especially towards the end) give me strong Silent Hill 2 vibes

@mark, it’s only fitting as both bands know how to set an atmosphere with their music and although singing style differences both singers are great and work perfectly with the music.
If you like the heavy riffs and atmosphere of Deftone's music, you need to check out Hum's new album Inlet! Hum was a big influence for Chino while writing White Pony.
The ULTIMATE chill tune by Deftones is Xerces. If you ever just wanna shed off the mood of a bad day Xerces is the song to put back in the right state of mind

@@nadine-sk4ij oewhh, they not quite similar in sound, but to me Descending and Culling Voices from their latest album give me the same vibe. Wings for Marie/10000 Days also. There are many more, but those are good starters imo ;-)

This is the album where Chino truly came into his own. The atmospherics, the harmonies, the huge soundscapes, everything is just perfect.

I read before this was about the bassist so i picture the final moments when the car is about to crash and the engines whirl time stops and his soul leaves his body and starts flying through time into other dimensional planes and when the chorus starts when hes saying sail with me i picture flying through bright vanilla skies and when hes saying stay with me i picture a lonely soul looking for someone else

this was fun to watch simply for the fact that Deftones is my favorite band, this is one of my favorite songs and every time I hear this song its the same reaction Hollywood has haha. Just freaking amazing! Their lyrics are deeply occult and i enjoy decoding it in relation to where humanity is consciously.

That was fun. 1 of the greatest pieces of modern music & you felt it. Would only grow w/ subsequent listens, knowing the rhythm. Love the insight about out of bodies. Deftones is far from done my friends. "Tempest" is along this line, "Digital Bath" sort of, "Dai the Flu" for rawer.

Deftones is some of the best driving music around. Used to bust them out on my commute when I worked 3 hours away.
Check out "Xerces" or "Kimdracula" for some mellow variety from Deftones if you are interested. They are such a creative band but still manage to sound exactly like themselves, very much like Tool having a strong musical identity despite messing with so many styles and concepts.
Music, is magick. Spellcasting, charming, chaos...with the great shirts you're wearing, you already know this.
