I'm actually pretty sure hollow knight's double jump is completely instant and the wings are just a cute little animation that gaslights glue into thinking there's a delay when it's simply an Issue of Skill
also that looked like you had no nail upgrades on those kingsmoulds, if that's the case you're not as bad as you might've made it seem you were

It is instant but you first get pushed down a little and then up due to the animation
