My channel generally focuses on a more casual side of speedruns. With these videos I want to show off cool speedruns, explain how they work, and entertain. Hopefully you enjoy the content and maybe even take up speedrunning yourself, because it is truly a lot of fun!

I'll be honest I've never ever thought a Hollow Knight speedrun would be easy
They usually are pretty hard,l tbh. He just took a beginner route. The current any% nmg route uses shade skips and pretty precise and stupidly hard to learn platforming glitches. The 112% nmg route is nothing but pain, and the any% with glitches is just visual aids istg
Yea even the route that ignores skips like shade skip and fireball skips as to teach beginners is really hard. Maybe it’s not as hard on the version he is playing on, but I did my runs on a Nintendo switch originally, and CurrentPatch bosses are generally harder and so is explosion-pogo and some other stuff

Hollow Knight speedrunner here- really cool to see how you took the time and effort to learn strategies and inform yourself about the games you run! It becomes particularly noticable when watching you do a run of a game i’m familiar with.

As an og hollow knight player having played for like 3-4 years, you did suprisingly well on this like really good job. Hollow knight is a metroidvania and really hard to speedrun because of how large it is so just awesome job all around (plus you are goated)

Hey! Awesome to see someone running my favorite game! You mentioned not knowing how the Uumuu AI works, so I thought I'd give you a short summary:
For the first cycle (when Uumuu initially spawns), it's going to give you 3 attacks. After the third attack, it'll check how much distance it's traveled, and if it's more than a certain amount (which I believe is RNG), it'll move slowly and Quirrel will slash it to expose its core. If it's traveled less than the required distance, it'll queue up another attack (we just call them "extras"). After an extra, Quirrel is guaranteed to slash Uumuu to expose its core. Note that Quirrel slashing Uumuu doesn't actually damage it. Any subsequent cycles work the same way, except that Uumuu will make the check for an extra attack after 2 attacks instead of 3. Fun fact: with optimal any% equipment, a 2 cycle is the minimum number of cycles required for a kill. It's super cool to see top-level runners fight Uumuu. They have setups and planned reactions for every single attack pattern, so I would highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already!

It has been confirmed that silksong is coming out sometime around or before June 2023, so that's a good sign

Eazy, it is genuinely inspiring to watch your videos. I have only ever completed one speedrun in my life (pokemon emerald, it took me 6:39 minutes), but watching you go from speedrunning flash games to legitimately putting fantastic runs for competitive games up on leaderboards with nothing but your grit, deterministic attitude and relentless optimism makes me want to sink some hours into my favorite games and get a run or two approved on the leaderboards. Keep it up dude, thanks for the great (and consistent!) content.
I'm really impressed by the tricks you learned for this game since I struggled so much to do even the easiest ones and never got to speedrun the whole game before! Mad respect!

@@eternalchaos6223 No, that would be for an AMG run, and since he was doing an NMG run I was mainly talking about QGA, 2 cycle Uumuu and pogaxe.
What a pleasant surprise! Hollow Knight speedrunner and longtime fan here, really happy to see you enjoying the speedrun! Love the explanations of the run and entertaining commentary! If you ever are looking for more HK speedrun content, Steel Soul runs (my personal favorite) are really high stakes and fun, and Path of Pain is a really challenging, more platforming oriented category!

Hollow Knight Speedrunner here: quick tip, switch to Chinese in the game menu, it makes mashing a lot faster. There’s of course a lot of other stuff you should do, like double dash mantis pogo, blue lake wcs, pogo cycle wk, optimal cdash cycle, Uumuu extra attack recovery and optimal Uumuu damage cycles, QGA and QG route, proper stalking devout strats, faster THK, etc., but that’s the main starter tip :)
Second most important suggestion is to learn QGA and QG route, then practice the bosses (especially WK and Uumuu).
And most important fact - he will probably not ran this game again)

I do wanna say that the version that Eazy is using actually a previous patch. Patch 1221. It allows a few glitches and is the most optimal for speedrunning. The current patch has a separate category on the leaderboard.
any% any patch is way more active and popular than 1.4.3+

edit: i believe the one fireball baldur at greenpath is because when you go offscreen the vengeful spirit hitbox gets stuck in the baldur hitbox
edit 2: in the watcher knights fight, you can fireball them as they roll to the other side of the arena, getting triple hits
actually, the vengeful spirit hitbox gets stuck at the edge of the screen, which is directly on top of the baldur's hitbox, causing the baldur to get hit multiple times. if youre too close or too far away, the spot where it gets stuck wont be on top of the baldur.

I once spent an entire month learning the route and practicing this speedrun, and the amount of time and effort that goes into being able to do this run is insane. Congrats on the good time, it’s better then the ones I got! Also, if you want to speedrun something even harder then Hollow Knight, speedrun Celeste.
A Celeste speedrun is going to kill him lol or at least give him carpal tunnel syndrome

I'm so frickin' happy- This is one of my favorite games and I am absolutely taking this as a sign to play Hollow Knight on my tv tonight. Also, based on the video time (barely a minute in), you did *really* good with the time!

You need Lantern to enter Peak anyway, so you could say that's the one.

Wow this is great! I tried speed running this, but after three hours and getting all the upgrades I never got to beat the hollow knight.

Hollow Knight speed runs aren’t an easy thing and despite a pretty unlucky Uumuu fight and no QGA, you completed a run which is super impressive! Also I’m now wondering if you do live commentary or not? I can’t tell because I can’t imagine being able to do all the things you do while talking over the top. Hollow knight speedrun is really really hard, it took a lot of precisions and a lot of time to memorize and master its pathings in order to get a flawless run. You did a terrific job at this one, considering you're speedrunning every other game now and then, this is an insanely good run..
Also practicing Watchers Knights a ton in Godhome before meeting them with minimal upgrades and gear. 😢 I couldn't do the speedrun 😂
ive consumed so much hollow knight speedrun content that i noticed all the little optimizations that speezy didnt go for lmaoo

its fun because i started playing this game and the day after you posted a speedrun on it
4:25 That Elder Baldur dies to a single Vengeful Spirit because in early versions, VG was becoming suspended for a moment after leaving the screen - this meant that it was able to deal several "ticks" of damage during that time. And the set-up with approaching and then retreating from the Elder Baldur loaded it in but then placed it just beyond the visibility border to take advantage of that.
learned this route a couple months ago and finally got my first sub 40 minute time after trying casually for a while. Love this run! Shade skips are really hard T-T

The vengeful spirit skip to Hornet is nice to know. Ever since my first play through I used the Squit just below to pogo up to here ledge because I didn’t know you were supposed to go down and around.
I’ve wanted him to give this a go for a long time, very respectable performance, that e pogo was probably the cleanest thing in the run but for someone who starts a game maybe beat it on there own time learn the run and just give it there best go this was a solid run
