I've been a Hollow Knight fan since the game's release, but I've never been able to 112% it. Let me know what games you want me to 100% next! Or if I should try getting all the games achievements?

Youre evil for the Palworld joke sir, the devs of that game are some of the best devs in modern gaming. Leaving in exploits on purpose because some people find them fun is one of the reasons I love concerned ape so much and palworlds doing it too. Along with transparancy that we dont get with the silksong/hallow knight devs

Very, very, very basic plot summary.
King comes in and gives bugs intelligence and creates a kingdom.
Radiance doesn’t like that and infects the minds of bugs. When her influence spreads, the infection seeps through the body.
King finds Void. King decides to use it when creating countless children to make an emotionless vessel, as emotion is what the Radiance latches on to in order to infect bug minds.
King has three big bad bugs become seals to keep it further locked up.
It doesn’t entirely work as the titular Hollow Knight isn’t completely emotionless. Kingdom falls into ruin.
You’re one of those children, coming back from somewhere to either kill the Radiance or become the new, better vessel to keep her contained.
Again, VERY basic plot summary.

My file of hollow knight
All I need to do is Pantheon of Hallownest, and absolute radiance on radiant difficulty.
Also do the pantheons with all 4 bindings simultaneously, but I don’t think I’m good enough.
Also, have never bothered to do that thing with the weird mushroom guy.
In summary, almost everything I have left to do is bordering on impossible. However, my proudest gaming achievement is pure vessel on radiant difficulty

I love the lore of this game, where it’s hidden in the backgrounds, description of items, and conversations with seemingly unimportant little guys. The world building has so many layers it’s great.

I’ve MASTERED every Hollow Knight boss, did COUNTLESS playthroughs, with or without mods, absolutely WRECKED P5, and yet i still don’t have ALL the achievements. I’m two hunter achievements away from perfection, yet I’m so lazy i will never do them even if i was motivated to do so.

Man. This was the first metroidvania I ever played and i was so bad at it. Now I occasionally 112% it on steel soul just for fun. Such a good game

Seeing Seanie kill Gruz Mother after Mantis Lords and getting the first nail upgrade is so crazy to me since most people end up finding and fighting her before/soon after False Knight
That and not going to deepnest after fighting the Mantis... Getting all the essential charms way later in game... I was screaming at the screen over doing the game in an entirely different (and harder) order than needed.
Edit: NO BOW TO GRIM?!; SUDOKU TO NAIL SMITH?! Unforgiveable!

@@sqigeypop701 my first playthrough took a bit over 110 hours lol, once you memorize the routing, it gets easier, so don't be discouraged!

in case anyone wants a brief hollow knight lore summary:
the moths used to worship the Radiance. Then the Pale King came to Hallownest, giving bugs a mind. He then started to govern his new kingdom and became the king.
Eventually the moths moved on from the Radiance and started to worship the Pale King instead.
The Radiance was not happy about that and started to infect bugs (the orange stuff).
The Pale King was not pleased about that and started the project to seal the Radiance away forever. That would make the infection disappear.
So he made love to the White Lady, and made lots and lots of babies. He threw these babies eggs into the abyss. This would make them "hollow", as in, no dreams, no voice, no thoughts.
The infection of the Radiance can only infect beings that have higher thoughts (dreams mainly).
The strongest baby/vessel that emerged got trained and turned into the Hollow Knight.
The King then got 3 other people and turned them into the Dreamers to make the seal stronger.
Lurien was loyal to the King so he had no problem getting turned into one.
Monomon agreed that this would be the wisest choice. Later on during gameplay she has changed her mind and allows the Knight to kill her to undo the seal. She also placed a 2nd protection around herself that needed Quirrel to undo it.
Herrah agreed to be turned into the 3rd Dreamer only if she gets a child from the Pale King. The Pale King and Herrah then did the deed and Herrah birthed Hornet. Since Hornet was not tossed into the Abyss, she s just a normal bug.
Everything seemed perfect and to work, but sadly, the Hollow Knight was no longer perfectly hollow. The Pale King and the Hollow Knight had developed a father-son bond, which allowed the Radiance to influence the world despite being sealed.
Hallownest fell because the Pale King couldn't help himself but love his son.
The Knight we play is perfectly hollow, and therefore able to perfectly seal the Radiance.

I know it doesn’t matter now, but using dream nail on enemies restores soul which is super helpful throughout the game. Was chanting at the screen saying ‘use dream nail’ in that charm notch room lol, but it’s also very helpful in things like coliseum

The thing I was really thinking is that with his shade in that room and him all the way back at Dirtmouth he should have just paid Jiji a visit to summon his shade. No way he didn't have any rancid eggs by that point. (But if you don't know this is a mechanic you can hardly be expected to do it, tbf.)

Quick tips :)
1. Get desolate dive early game, then get descending dark in crystal peaks afterwards
2. Break the damn chandelier before watcher knights
3. Get more charm notches before watcher knights
4. The best loadout for 6 notches is shaman stone, longnail, and wayward compass

I trained for hours for both of them, even though I could kill Pure Vessel almost 100% of the times, I think I could only get the AR about 60-80% of the times

He attempted to get the skip to get that grub, but gave up on it. You can see him come back and get that grub later after he has double jump.
Watching Seanie fail to understand the lore/basic plot while simultaneously actively skipping dialogue is rather interesting to watch

The Watcher Knight fight can be shortened by climbing up the left wall before you agro them and break a chandelier and it destroys a couple of them before you start the fight

If you really think about it wayward compass is like a mentor. It guides you thorough in the beginning guiding you but the more stronger you get and the more experience you gain your need for a mentor decreases.
45:18 Quick Slash definitley helped there and is very strong, but I’m pretty sure steady body was actually what got you through that fight. Steady body not only stops your nail from knocking you back, but also makes bosses that stagger (when bosses like hornet, dung defender, and lost kin stop attacking and just sit there) get staggered more often, which gave you more downtime to heal. Kinda funny to me because a lot of players wouldn’t even equip that charm if it was free because the no-recoil screws up the movement your used to.
21:14 when you get nail upgrades, it actually gives the ghost warriors, including soul tyrant, more health, more than the nail gets damage, so less nail upgrades are better
I love watching people 100% games I take slight interest in because then I get to teehee giggle while I watch somebody play a game that would take years off my lifespan

Lengthy Hollow Knight lore dump:
Once upon a time, there was a really big being called a Wyrm. The Wyrm wandered around for a while before coming to the place that would become Hallownest (specifically Kingdom's Edge) and dying.
However, due to being an immensely powerful entity, it didn't actually die, and instead was reborn as a tiny creature called the Pale King. Pale King decided he would found a kingdom that would last forever and ever for all eternity because he was full of hubris.
Now, Pale King is what's called a Higher Being, which in Hollow Knight lore means he's a god (as opposed to the beings actually called gods in the game, which are literally just bosses and have very varied power levels). Higher Beings have the ability to give normal bugs sapience, although a lot of them seem to just create their own bugs instead of sapiencing existing ones.
Additionally, if a regular bug leaves the domain of a Higher Being, they would lose their mind (or maybe just their memories, or maybe it's usually their mind but they may keep it but not their memories if they have a mask... it's not suuuper clear). This area's mind/memory-losing property WILL be important later.
Pale King being full of hubris, he also decides that his kingdom (which will last forever and ever for all eternity and will also be the ONLY kingdom in existence somehow) will worship him, only him, and maybe his wife/queen the White Lady (who is also a Higher Being, for those keeping track).
Of course, future-Hallownest is already inhabited by a handful of tribes with Higher Beings of their own, many of which said no, we will NOT abandon our god-beings who created us and are literally right there to worship you, please leave us alone. A couple of tribes, however, said yes: the Mushroom Clan and, more importantly, the Moth Tribe.
The Moth Tribe's Higher Being was the Radiance, a goddess of light and dreams. Radience was NOT happy her creations/worshippers were abandoning her, but she couldn't do much about it and was left to fade away into obscurity.
Pale King built his big fancy kingdom with the Moths and Mushrooms and random formerly-unsapient bugs he magicked into being people, and things were chill for many generations. He appointed five knights (one of which was Ogrim, aka the Dung Defender), he had a tree wife, he introduced a transit system, next-door neighbours the Mosskin were chill even if they didn't worship him exclusively, and life was good.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, the Radiance had Opinions about this, and while she'd mostly faded into obscurity, she is still a goddess of dreams. Her presence/influence started to seep into bugs' minds; first the moths who still remembered her name, deep down, at their core; then the rest of Hallownest's population. She clung to thoughts, ideas, emotions, dreams; anything she could find in their heads. She slowly ate their minds away until they were nothing more than empty husks, puppets for her to control.
This is the Infection.
Pale King freaked when he realized what was happening, and took drastic measures to stop it. He and his wife produced thousands of eggs, thousands of unborn children, and then he took those egg sacs and dumped all of them in the Abyss to be consumed by the Void.
He KILLED those children in their thousands, all so their empty bodies would be animated by the empty, dark nothingness.
And then he chose one, and he sealed the rest away in the Abyss so he didn't have to look at the thousands upon thousands of corpses from his OWN CHILDREN carpeting the floor.
His goal was to train this one vessel, to raise it as his own, and, due to being made of/filled with void, it would have nothing for the Radiance to control ("no mind to think, no will to break, no voice to cry suffering"). If she tried to invade it, she would be trapped, and she could be sealed away inside the vessel- the Hollow Knight.
The Hollow Knight would be chained up in the Black Egg Temple, and the Pale King asked three bugs to put themselves into stasis to create magical Seals over the temple's entrance: Lurien the Watcher, who watched over the City of Tears and isn't terribly interesting; Monomon the Teacher, who added extra protections around herself in the form of her jellyfish creation Uumuu and a lock requiring her mask, which she gave to her then-apprentice Quirrel; and Herrah the Beast, who only agreed on the condition the Pale King would sire a child with her, presumably for political reasons. That child is Hornet.
Unfortunately for the Pale King, he did something wrong while raising it, and it was "tarnished by an idea instilled." What this idea was is unknown, but it was enough for the Radience to cling to and resulted in the whole convoluted plan failing pathetically.
The Infection continued to spread and the King was mostly out of children to sacrifice, so he did the only logical thing and yoinked his entire Palace into the head of one of his soldiers. Then he died.
He stayed dead this time.
The White Lady, meanwhile, felt guilty over her involvement in the whole mess, so she imprisoned herself so she couldn't give in to her overwhelming instinct to reproduce.
The Infection consumed every bug in Hallownest and most of the ones in the surrounding areas, only staved off by the residents of Dirtmouth, the Mantis Tribe, and a handful of individuals. Hallownest had fallen, and taken the Hive, the Mosskin, and the Spiders of Deepnest with it.
At some point, the player-knight (and other vessels) found a way out of the Abyss and started wandering around. Our knight in particular found its way out of Hallownest, into the endless expanse of no-memories/mind.
This means that any of the impurities our Knight may have had were erased, rendering it truly hollow. Thanks to this, it can either take the Hollow Knight’s place and properly seal the Radiance away, or it can channel the Void and fully destroy her (depending on your ending).
Aside from the bugs of Hallownest, the Pale King and Radience's spat also ruined things for:
-All those unborn children Pale King murdered.
-The Bees, who sealed themselves off from Hallownest, wanted nothing to do with Hallownest, and worshipped their Higher Being and Queen, Vespa, whose corpse is visible in the background of Hive Knight's arena
-The Flukes, which mostly just minded their own business in the Royal Waterways where it was quiet and moist, and don’t seem to have a Higher Being but there’s one in the Junk Pit who can talk so they clearly had SOME intelligence.
-The Spider Tribe in Deepnest, who probably had a Higher Being of their own but that being remains unknown. Before Pale King’s deal with Herrah, they weren’t the biggest fan of him and actually got violent when he tried to build a tramway to their territory, so you’d think Radience would give them a pass, but NOPE.
-The Mosskin, who let Pale King build roads through their territory with the understanding that any beings who left those roads would be subject to Mosskin laws. They remained loyal to their Higher Being and creator, Unn, the giant slug who appears at 57:11. Unn is greatly weakened now, but still calls to the Mosskin in the hope they might hear. Radiance sucks and Unn deserves better.
-The Mantis Traitors, kinda, since they apparently got Infected on purpose because they thought it’d make them stronger?
-Notably NOT the Mantis Tribe, who remain uninfected somehow. Like the Spider Tribe, their Higher Being probably exists but remains unknown.
Also, the Void itself may or may not be a Higher Being of sorts. It’s hard to tell.
As someone who has completed 112 percent, this video hurts. THAT ISN'T PALACE GROUNDS
I cannot wait till Seanie does all achievements. Path of pain, NKG, and P5 should be great fun to watch.

by the way, you can use the fragile strength/heart charms during soul memory bosses, even if you die they won't break because its a memory boss not an actual IRL boss so the fragile charms don't break
tips for soul master/tyrant for whoever wants them: when in second phase and he is teleporting above you, you can swing upwards and hit him while he's hovering above you

Something I love to see is new players that play hollow knight for their very first time and they constantly jump and stay in the air because they think they're safe
