Done this few times. Masking tape is your friend. Spray paint gets more even coverage than paint brush. Undercoat with a lighter version of your final color. 1 coat of undercoat and one layer of final color and you should be good. There are leather spray paints, or you can use a modeling spray paint gun. In theory any acrylic paint will do, just don't use one with acetone or alcohol in it.
I think she did a great job and yes, I vote for her painting Mr.Salty's suit 👍🏻. My current suit is a Alpinestar replica so no idea how it will hold up in crash (one, at least) but the orginal colors were white and red. Being notoriously picky about colors, I had grey painted over the red, and unsure what the guy used but it covered up well and holding up after two years. In my newest video, you can see my suit pretty good.
Top job 👍 I've been doing this kinda stuff for years even complete colour changes .....just remember to use a leather sealer it will last longer . Stay safe ✌️🏍️
congrets dude in hittibg 100j its been a long time since i watch your vids its been a year i know that you know me before bcs you have liked my comments before
Subscribed today to follow and see how the color will hold up in time cause I wanna do the same thing to my leather suit. I thought of doing this but I'm scared. You did a good job.
How is it when cleaning your leather suit? I often use a wet towel to remove the insects on the suit after a ride. Doesnt it damage the paint or gives scratches in it when using the towel with other cleaning products? Is your quality of the paint stil good right now? Because i'm seriously thinking about to order it for my dainese suit. Do you also use a finisher on the painted leather? Hopefully you can help me quickly!
The leather that is painted is holding up great, honestly it looks just as good as the day she did it. It's been on it for over and year and multiple track days
I'd assume you'd have to run maintenance coating every now and again... I'd use masking tape to cover the edges before painting though, it'll improve speed and accuracy of the job. *Alpine Stars is typing* ....
Spent the last 11 years trial riding around the world... A horse review by Heather sometime? Horses vs bikes (pros/cons) would be a fun vid, I guess. :D
New sub here. I've been catching up on some of the older posts. You did a great job on the suit. If the paint you used is like the kind they do upholstery repairs with it should flex and stretch and hold up quiet well.
Cant answer first question, but second question would be leather paint (she used Angelus paint which is a famous brand) and you need a top coat or else it'll crack/fade
@@himbary Angelus paint is a famous brand in the sneaker world, shoes ive customed over 2 years ago with daily wear is still holding up fine. If you put a finish coat on it properly, it should be fine unless you fell and slid
I customs shoes from.time to time and forget that Angelus is a leather paint 😂 good to know that i can change the color of leather jacket cuz some of these colorways that brands make aint it

I have the same suit & am also a painter but never knew there was such thin as leather paint, that red accent looks awesome!

Great Idea!!! I need to do my Suzuki Jacket 🙌🏿👊🤘✌🏾👊🏻 love you guy video and Chemistry.
LOOOOVE the red, Heather!!! Awesome job!!!👏🏻🤩
Nice job!!! You just turned a $1000 suit into a $1500 suit. That red pops forsure ❤️
👍 I support this.. 😆 🎨 🖌
I used a red paint marker.
I had to press the like button so salt can get his suit painted as well🙂🙂... lets keep these likes going up guys!!

Looks good. I wonder if there's a reflective paint for leather?

It's going to fade over time and become Pink 🙂

Thanks for the sub! and yes it does stretch and flex!
Great job.. Could you please update us how did it go after use?
It has been on for about 2 years now and still looks great
Dang. looks good. I didnt know there was leather paint either. I think I saw you at jennings. When lifeflight came down. 01/31/21
Yes you did, hopefully the guy was ok.
not bad
Let her paint ur suit at 100 likes!
After a year, did you had to apply more paint? How did it hold to the suit?
it’s still looking great! you can see it in our more recent videos 👍🏻
Good idea, but same problem as tyre lettering. Will it be flexible enough???
If the paint she used is like the kind you paint upholstery with its designed to flex and stretch so it should hold up good
Are the colors on the leather from the factory actually paint or stain? What type of paint do you use and do you need a sealer?
Cant answer first question, but second question would be leather paint (she used Angelus paint which is a famous brand) and you need a top coat or else it'll crack/fade
does the paint hold?
It's been on for nearly 2 years now and still looking great!
How’s that paint holding up?
Great! I think she's had it on there going on a year and you can see how well it's holding up in our latest video :)
Do I have to paint it White before painting it Red on a Black leather?
I'm not sure honestly. But if you want it to come out a brighter red then I would say definitely paint white first, then it will show a brighter red.
Any update on how well it held? Thinking long term.. kinda on the fence about it. Suspect any cracking or chipping in the future?
She's had it on for a little over 2 months now and no cracking or chipping at all. and this is long 7+ hour days at the track also
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Update on this?

@@AshleyChuChu Good to know
clean job, should of used their leather dye as a base coat before painting because that paint will start to chip
What happened to your Ninja 1000?
Looks like they're out of all shades of red, maybe you guys sold them out!
does this fade? or can be take out?
She has had it on her suit for well over a year and it still looks great :)
Was the husband surprised when the wife painted her suit?
