If only RUclips analytics could capture the fact that I watched 95% of this video with my mouth gaping open. It is infuriating how talented you are. Love both, but the black and white one has an effect on the eye that edges it out as my favorite. I'm inspired to take acrylic paint to one of my leather jackets, but would like to know if you'd be able to condition/clean the leather if it has paint on it. I'm assuming no?
Hahah maybe RUclips analytics noticed. Thank you so much! Regarding cleaning, yes... I expect that cleaning and conditioning the painted parts of the jacket will not be possible. However, perhaps the interior and non painted parts still could be. And that paint is easily wiped down 👍🏻
Use heat gun or hair dryer on high to fully cure the paint on leather. Then go all over w/a small amt of coconut oil to seal everything in & condition. It will also restore that nice sheen the jacket came with.
awesome! i would suggest mixing a fabric softening solution with the paint so it sits on the material better or just use fabric paints and sprays they look less stiff than acrylic and cordless airbrushes are good for this kinda thing. masking off the zips is always a good idea too ;)
😮 Sooooo dang cool!!! WTH! Dude you are so freaking talented! Literally everything I've seen you've done turns out so cool! You got that artistic golden touch & it's honestly magical to watch your process! TY for sharing your gifts and talents with us all!!! 🤗🥰🖌️🎨
I’ve said it time after time. U are so freaking talented. This was really awesome and very creative. The B&W one was my favorite, but they both came out nice. Nicely Done Andrew!!!😊
Always cool to see new and different approaches to art and creativity. I really like the textures. The jackets are a great canvas. The bold colors with the pinks, and blues in the jacket on the right stand out. Refreshing, and well done 👌😊 -Best of luck on your art and your channel, and much support from one artist to another. -Huge 👍's up!
It might be helpful to print the design out in color, (tiled if you don't have access to an oversize printer). then use a camera lucida to "project" on the jacket, (actually your retina), making placement much easier. By keeping the printed hard copy reproducing the design onto something else is is much faster. I keep all my idea stuff in 8.5" x 11" sheet protectors, folded in this case.
I watch this a whole bunch because I wanted to see how the pants with the frayed faux leather spots turned out and although washing it several times to see the jackets was absolutely worth it I never got to see the pants- are they in another video?
Beautiful, out of this world idea and talented. I'm curious what is lamping? You mentioned in your video? I'm not artistic but I love how you can trace or copy any art unto the fabric. I really would be so appreciative if you could help. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much Danni! Actually painted that one back in 2019 before I had a RUclips Channel! Would you be interested in seeing a video with more leather painting in that style?
With it painted does the paint makes the garment harden? Maybe I used too many coats when I'm painting on my garments and the material comes out very hard and stiff to wear? Any suggestions on this would be great also I use angelus fabric paint.
Hey Van! The acrylic paints that I used in this video are pretty flexible when dry - kinda like a vinyl texture. I did have some issues with the real leather jacket cracking which I address in my Painted Leather Part 2 video (more of a preparation issue than a paint issue). Are you painting on leather? Whenever I paint on canvas or cotton clothes, the paint definitely gets pretty stiff. In that case, I would recommend mixing the paint with a textile medium to help it soften.
I found an incredible leather jacket with an unfortunate airbrushed mural on the back, any idea how to remove paint from the leather that's been on there for years?
This is my 1st time watching and I loved what you did. ❤️ I bought a thrifted leather jacket for $5.00 specifically to see if I could do something like this. I'm not anywhere near as talented as you but your video gave me hope that I can paint it however my mind sees it and maybe it'll be decent. I'm going to watch the next 1. 😊
So exciting! I’d love to see how yours turns out. My advice is definitely to plan out your design either digitally or in a sketch so you know exactly where to place the paint. Also, be sure to watch Part 2 since I cover more about prepping and sealing the jacket (for genuine leather). This is super important to keep the paint from peeling. Best of luck!
@@REISSUED Thank you. I did watch the 2nd video. I'm still going over in my head what I want to do and I plan on drafting it out before hand. I'll let you know in the comments when I'm ready then ypu can let me know how to send you the pic. Thanks. 😊
Getting stuff to stick! Thanks for the vid. I’m in the midst of a new iteration of myself, and starting a business with the logo on leather with paint is my concern. It looks like, Prep with rubbing alcohol, acrylic, you can use a heat help it along if need be. There is a respect for the formerly worn leather that I have that I don’t want to screw up. When is a leather jacket really dead? I get it and I want good outcomes for paint durability. You can be punk or a slob. I don’t want to be a slob, I guess.
Very good show! However the audio is hard to listen to, not you but where th mlc is and or the reverb, try doing th Voice over in a dead room. I do like your show! Cheers!
You could most definitely paint it! I actually am preparing another video with more info about how to prepare the jacket to keep it from cracking.... so look out for that! Not sure about dye... I don't think it would be potent enough to lift the color from black to white.
@@REISSUED I'm also thinking of painting a black leather jacket white but not the whole jacket just a small part that is black, what I was wondering was if it's possible to make it look natural or will people always be able to tell that it was painted?

Aw thank you Jocelyn!
This is so sick Andrew, the way that Marilyn jacket looked in the white version was also so so scik too
Thank you so much!

Thank you! It certainly makes a statement haha
Super fun!!!!!
Awesome wearable art. I cannot decide which one I like better. Both are super fine.
I would love to see you paint more leather items like pants, purses and shoes?
I have definitely done some purses! Maybe I’ll feature them on the channel at some point!
You're freaking BRILLIANT! 💚
Aw thanks Samm!
love watching your content! so talented, cant wait for more!

Love your work! Where is your video on your first jacket? The metallic blue red one?

Aw thanks! These will be listed on my website reissued.store in the next couple weeks so keep an eye out!

Of course! I'm so happy you enjoyed it
Talented af, this is underrated
Hey thank you so much for watching!

I like it so much!!
Yay! Thank you!
To save the pants, you would have had to peel them completely and then repainted them with fabric paint. You can't save fake leather once it goes.
👍

What do u use to keep the paint from wearing off
Check out my “painting leather jackets part 2” video! There I talk more about prepping and sealing the jackets so that they last!
how long did the faux one take to dry / be wearable?
Less than 3 hours to dry to touch but I’d let it rest for 48 hrs just to be safe
u are Michael Jackson thriller bad...freehand too...wow!
Haha thank you! I hope you enjoyed the video ❤️
What paints are using to make these?
They are really good, but I did cry a little inside as I would have liked the jackets as is. xx
Hahaha there will be plenty more like them 😜
Fkn wow! You ❤ hell yes

@@REISSUED would it look good and smooth the white paint? I want someone to do this for me but I’m having a hard time finding shops in NY who do this.
