- Welcome back to the workbench! In today’s video, I’m diving into my personal 12.5-inch AR-15 build. If you’ve been waiting for a detailed breakdown of a lightweight, maneuverable rifle setup, you’re in the right place. I’ll cover why I chose this particular build, the benefits of the 12.5-inch barrel, and an in-depth look at the components I used.
Key Components Covered:
Barrel Length & Build Purpose: Why I chose the 12.5" barrel for a lightweight and compact AR-15 that's perfect for close-quarters and dense environments but still capable of reaching out to 600 yards.
Buttstock & Buffer System: Featuring the SB Tactical SBA-4 Pistol Stabilizing Brace and Vltor A5 buffer system. Learn why this combination enhances stability and performance.
Charging Handle: The Radian SD Charging Handle - its effectiveness and some alternative options for suppressor use.
Bolt Carrier Group (BCG): The KAK K-Spec NP3 BCG’s unique design reduces noise and improves suppressor performance.
Trigger: The Geissele SSA Trigger - renowned for its quality and reliability.

FYI it's the absence of a stock, not the presence of a stabalizing brace, that makes it a pistol. Take the brace off and it's still a pistol.
1:38 i use the geissele super charging handle because there's a high shelf to block/divert gas
been running BA barrels for years now with PMC X-tac M193, my main squeeze is a 11.5" and groups AND velocities are crazy tight
12.5 is king. That extra inch picks up an outsized amount of velocity with m193 for some reason
Precisely the velocity gain from 12.5-14.5 is negligible at best more than enough for 55gr ball to fragment within 100 yards but still enough energy to reach out
Great video what’s the name over the pistol brace your using ?
@@darkdre7 SB Tactical SBA4
@@scorpiustactical I’m going to look that up thanks
How’s the eye box on the PA micro prism?
I had the vortex 5x and the short eye relief combined with a terrible eye box made it nearly unusable.
For a prism its fairly good, definitely much better than my ACOG when I had one
