This is originally an American design by Eugene Stoner, but with a Piston versus the Gas system. I used to work in the firearms industry and actually met some reps from HK and attended the Indy 500 with one. Had a great time. All HK products are outstanding as are most German firearms. I'm a huge fan of Walther Pistols as well. That all said, being a red blooded American I still believe the best firearms designer in history was probably John Moses Browning. ❤ Good video. ❤
thanks for letting us know its piston driven. di guns cant shoot immediately after being submerged and they jam easy if you have sand dirt snow ect. piston driven is much more reliable.
I see a lit of mad comments here. Most of them complaining about the AR being an american platform. Yeah. But Colt builded a peace of sh*t. Thats why US Special Forces worked with H&K together to compare the G36 piston to a AR-15 platform. I don't get the problem. They took the best of the G36 and the best of the AR-15 (The body) to built one of the most successful assault rifles in history. Americans could also be proud of that. It's a collaboration and not an expensive copy. Not like the Coharie Arms CA-415 which is an exact copy of the HK416. But American companies cannot be sued for patent rights in the international market because they are the superpower.
G36 is literally a copy of the AR-18, they copied Eugene Stoner's design, then decided to put it into the chassis of a different Stoner platform. How revolutionary.
I always see Flecktarn as the best camo pattern in general/woodland environment. They may have try to improve it over the years, but the basic pattern is still there.
Soooo, it's an over priced piston AR, just like all others, but it's an H&K so it's stupid expensive and makes it special? I don't get it. It's a 416, with a fancy paint job basically
So, who uses this stupid expensive platform? Norway, France, Germany, US Marine Corps in addition to alot of tier 1, 2 and 3 special forces units, notably DEVGRU/Navy SEALs. It's expensive because it's a good system, made well.

Oh yeah just the 1 they want to set their machines for max profit, not max end user capability ( as many LMT rifles now go to military contracts from Estonia, UK, Australia, New Zealand, the list goes on.)...... your stereotype about the Germans doing everything better isn't always true, they just always have high quality standards, but you will always pay for it in the price tag thanks to their dumbass politics and political policies aka almost 20% sales tax 😂

Three years on this gun and it's basically the same as an ar15
Thank you, doing something that was done sixty years ago 😂. I love how the sniper winds up into this big thing, how to break down the super duper sniper rifle. Then all the suddenly takes a "special tool" out of the pistol grip just to push out the take down pins just like every other AR15 🤣. Nonsense. The receivers, buffer system, trigger mech are all AR-15. The only AR-18 aspect is the short-stroke gas system. You do realise Stoner definitely did design the AR-18, right? This is originally an American design by Eugene Stoner, but with a Piston versus the Gas system. I used to work in the firearms industry and actually met some reps from HK and attended the Indy 500 with one. Had a great time. All HK products are outstanding as are most German firearms.
