It’s still based on an actual gun what was adopted by the Romanian military. Look up a picture of the Romanian PM Md. 90 short rifle. A Draco is a Md. 90 without a dong or a wire folding stock. The WASR Paratrooper is the same exact gun in rifle form with a 16” barrel and wire folder. The main thing that bothers me is that clowns who think they’re cool don’t practice gun safety and they refer to every AK pistol as a Draco. The Draco was actually the first gun I’ve owned I got rid of it but it was cool af. Would definitely buy another.
The Draco, forward of the rear trunnion, is probably the best AKM-style AK (pound for pound) out there all things considered. It has minimal velocity loss over a 16" barrel because of its round, and 7.62x39 also retains much more of its terminal effectiveness at low speeds than 5.56 does. The front sight being moved to the gas block A) lightens up the front end just ever so slightly, and B) makes it significantly less likely you'll have a canted front sight. I also like the way that Romanians have a flare on the dust cover around the safety, and the safety has an extra flange up top, which makes the two parts overlap and form a better seal. Of course it's useless as it comes from the factory, but bolt on an adapter to the rear and it is an absolutely solid weapon that's only beat by the AK-104.
So glad that there are places out there like Ree Medical now. My dad fought for nearly 10 years to get benefits this was about 20 years ago. He was constantly denied and redirected. Strangely and just bizarrely once they gave him benefits they just keep throwing them at him and adding to them. You’d think that it would still be a difficulty.
Draco’s have been a hidden gem- I have a PSA AKP and use that as my main ak for training. Super fun smaller package and if you throw an AK103 brake on it it also deletes recoil entirely
Thank you for mentioning Charlie. I was wondering if you guys had a split or something, but whenever I looked him up, there were video's of him saying how much you two love each other. I was very confused, but you said that he's busy moving, so that explains his absence. Whenever you talk to him next, tell him that the viewers miss him, and wish him well. ^_^
What a relief. Been acutely listening to all your videos lately to get an idea if he were gone and seeing if it were time to unsubscribe. Well, actually with Mika besting you from time to time it might be worth sticking around. Serious thought love the videos and the thought and analysis behind them.
Seriously! I was getting worried that maybe they'd had to drop him or something. Maybe the Sweaty Disabled Idiots finally got sick of his shit or something and GT didn't want to lose his biggest sponsor. Glad to know that's not the case.
76239 is not a good rifle round Low range and bad ballistics This is actually best use for it Its similar to 300 blk Having a full size rifle in it is pointless But throw a suppressor on it with a short barrel and it becomes a superior firearm
@paulbarclay4114 the 762x39 gets full powder burn at 16 inches while a 556 makes full powder burn at 20 inches. This makes the 762 more ideal when chopping down a couple inches of barrel while for the ballistics of the 556 will drop more heavily.
yah you can but its going to be cheaper and easier to kit out any AR build. the parts are simply better made and more widely available in the US. not to mention that finding good ammo for your AK is going to be a pain in the ass compared to picking up whatever 5.56 at any local gun shop.
@@appapablanstiasia7910 Ya I agree on the ammo. I'm not gonna run steel case in my AK because that accelerates erosion and unlike an AR, you can't rebarrel an AK with a torque wrench and a bench vise. Also regarding Phillip's point: the best accessory you can buy for a Draco is a pair of JNCO's and a single point sling.
@poisonouslead85 I'm super anal about cleaning my weapons whenever I've shot them. So I shoot whatever I can get my hands on new old surplus. Brass steel. Aluminum.
@appapablanstiasia7910 I barely hit 1k when I did my ak build. Bought a psa gf3 103 brand new with a fixed stock. And swapped the lower handguard for a zenitco rail meant for the 105. Micro Draco with the folding stock and slr furniture, keep that in a bag in the car everywhere I go. Bought it when it was $400 too, never regretted it a day.
Yeah buddy, I think I paid like $875 for 2 Cugir micro Draco’s back in 2018, went back and picked up a mini Draco a few months later for around $500. I did the same thing with one of the micros, folding stock, slr furniture, Holosun 403 on top, keep it in a bookbag in the truck along with a Micro30 and some reloads. People talk a lot of trash about them but it’s just about perfect as a truck/get home gun. Crazy they’re going for over $1k these days huh?
First gun I SBR’d added a folding hinge and modified a AK 74 black plastic stock. It was one of the first AKs with the front sight gas block combo. I love it for its compactness!

That intro was so good, imagine the guy that shot you just being bummed about shooting another AK guy and then being like “well guess this is mine now.” “ I did the cheeky breeky and you didn’t do the thing.” I don’t know what you said but that was so good
I can confirm the Zenitco brake on a SBR is VERY loud. Shooting it on my M92 SBR ... had people coming over to see what "huge cannon" I was shooting only for them to see a small rifle in my hands. Can also confirm all of your results with the Zastava M92 10.5" SBR. No issues out to 300 yards (the holds are just a little higher) and farther.
@@ShizawnSanders nah ... if you hold center of chest at 300 yards with a 7.62x39 14" AK, you're holding center to top of head with 10.5" AK to hit the same spot.
What I like about the Draco is that they kept the original sight leaf of the AK/AKM instead of putting the 'Krink' style sights. I also like the 12.5" barrel over the 10.5" you see on the M92. However, Zastava builds are generally higher quality I've heard. Not only that, but Zastava USA has customer service with a lifetime warranty for any issues you might encounter, unlike Cugir and Century Arms imports. Thinking about it, the Draco is essentially a Romanian AK-104 without a side-rail.
Zastavas are more refined, but I like the Romanians more. I've had less problems with them, and I prefer the standard AKM format. I've had an NPAP, OPAP, and ZPAP. The OPAP was the best of them and the only one I still own.

Yeah, it amazes me how many vets have so much difficulty getting their proper disability. I was worried when I was getting out, only because of all the horror stories I’ve heard. When I went into my local VA office, I was seeing old vets, well into their 50s-60s in there and that made it even more worrying for me. If these old guys are still fighting to get their rating higher, what chance does a young buck like me have??? Thankfully, I was blessed with my VA guy and within 2 months, I was approved for 100% That man helped me tremendously! I just hope everyone can find someone like that, who helped me get everything done and promptly! Also, a friend of mine who was in a different branch and was in before me, he opted to not go about getting his disability done right away and waited about 3 years. He’s struggling to get things processed. The VA Rep told me, if you wait after a year, your paperwork keeps getting pushed to the bottom for those who have been out for less than a year. Less than 1 year of separation gets priority.

Thank you, for doing the reemedical sponsor. I have 100% P&T, I got it in 2019. Was discharged in 2012. Had both feet reconstructed in 2014, followed by an additional 6 surgeries from 2015 to 2019, for a total of 10. With my 11th in the pipeline. It has been a nightmare the entire time. Not the surgeries, not the recovery. The VA. I sometimes think I might actually have PTSD from the VA. And that is not a joke, I would talk about it with a therapist, but the VA is so fucked they cannot even get me registered in their system. Which is BS on its own. I moved from Dallas to San Antonio.. There should not be separate systems period, but especially within the same fing state!!!!! And 2-3 weeks before I get a call to be registered. And then another month wait to be seen by primary care. Just to get a consult to go to specialty care for my feet. Like they don't fucking know both are reconstructed and possibly need to be amputated in the future. Obviously I need Podiatry. But no, I will shut up and wait. And If I even begin to get angry about it the call people will hang up on me, not tell my doctor anything and I have to start all over. The VAs solution. Go to the emergency room. I go there and the Doctor says this is not an emergency I cannot do anything. And now I am just left to sit in my truck and scream and cry, and wait for this shit to repeat again for the 10000000th time. The fight for medical care is stupid. But the fight for benefits is even more stupid. 3 attorneys, A video hearing with a VA judge, and another bro bono attorney who was amazing, and I was ready to go to actual court. The date was set. And without telling me, I look in my account and I have 30k more in my account. Which was a tiny fraction of the back pay that was owed to me. I applied for benefits 3 months before discharge, so Januaryish 2012, I received 10% Disability, After my foot reconstructions I received 30% in 2015, I received 50% once I filed for depression. And then it went up to 80% in 2017 randomly, no explanation no letter no nothing. In 2019 I randomly saw the big ass check in my account, called the VA and they said I have been changed to 100% P&T. Unless you are missing body parts, the fight is going to be stupid and long. And I bet it is still stupidly long for those who have been through far more than I have. I am a veteran who has been through the entire process, I am just typing it out so you can hear from one of your own, and I offer the 10 things I learned going through this. 1.Keep every piece of paperwork, period. 2.If you can get legal help, do it. 3.Do your research about any attorney you want to hire, I had one lie and fail to submit documentation and was proven in court. And he still got to take some of my money. 4.If you can, outside medical evals (non-VA) are very beneficial, even if at first the VA does not accept them as enough evidence. 5.It is a long process, get a therapist, or someone you truly can say anything to. 6.Family, friends, loved ones. Keep them close, it sucks going through this shit alone. 7.Every single time there is any issue with your medical conditions, go to the doctor. Do not tough it out, or not want to go because the VA sucks ass. In my specific case one of the factors they looked at was hospitalization time. I have only had out patient surgeries, so each one was less than a day. But when you add together all the hospital visits, all the pre and post ops, all the surgeries, all the physical therapy. It equaled out to just under 2 years. Which is a lot of time in a hospital. It makes a big difference. 8.Do not lie, just to try and get a better rating, that shit fucks all of us. 9. Try, Try, Try. Try to work, try to have fun, try to have life. You will only fuck yourself if you give up. 10.Find a hobby. I found leatherworking, and it saved my life. And now I have a master skill. Speaking of, if anyone is looking for a really nice handmade wallet. I am your guy. And if you are active, or a veteran I will give you a discount. Seriously find something you love that you can do with your disabilities.

I love the 7.62X39, I have taken deer with a soft tip and it drops them close in with authority. I see it at 150 yards and in as well as a 30-30 and destroys less meat than my 30-06.

Speaking on the weight of parts on the gun, I think weight shouldn't matter too much as long as its not obnoxiously heavy. We could all stand to get in the gym more and better ourselves and our health while helping others up along with us.
no. Boxers train with weighted gloves but fight with light ones for a reason. Go lift weights in the gym, shoot a gun that is as light as possible and controlled by aero, not inertia. Jerry Miculek once had a video on a Tavor and remarked that he overcorrected for inertia that just wasn't there. For quick target acquisition i'd want a light as hell bullpup rifle with the mag as far back as possible ( think Korobov ) with a muzzle brake that controls thr recoil.
@@zibingotaeam3716 If the weight is not obnoxiously different than your average AR we go in the gym and foster a positive environment for each other and get healthier, not nitpick small details that don't matter to make a point that was already covered. Now be my spotter.
@@jasonbond4591 The main point here is faster target acquisiton than with the equivalent of a modern club by having a heavy rail system to keep zero, a IR illuminator, an IR laser, a visible laser and a flashlight all attached to the very end of the rifle. You have more endurance in keeping the rifle on target this way too. its easier to swing a weapon on target that has most of its weight close to your shoulder. Its also more comfortable to carry for an extended period of time. Yes, you can carry heavier weapons that are more unwieldy, but why stop at an AR15 then? Why not bring a belt fed GPMG to a carbine fight? Nitpicking is the equivalent of sharpening a blade. A steel shiv is effective, but a sharpened knife is always a better option.
@@zibingotaeam3716 I think people are missing the forest for trees here. A half pound difference in a rifle which this may have compared to a regular rifle and its purpose of being that way are not that big of a difference. It's nitpicking because you can train for that, and by fostering a community of positivity for us we can all get stronger mentally/emotionally as well as physically. Your response here is missing that context man.
my thoughts is a lighter gun only matters for soldiers who gotta walk miles carrying that gun and enough ammo for a firefight. and we all free to get one if we wanna walk miles too. but most of us will do just fine with heavier guns cause we got cars and roads. so if the heavier guns wins us more fights then thats what we should try and build.

I’ve always hated Draco’s cause of the stigma around them and the fact I’ve never seen one be functionally useful but now I’m kinda interested
Ya i had one awhile ago, the receiver was warped but it still worked 😆
It’s still based on an actual gun what was adopted by the Romanian military. Look up a picture of the Romanian PM Md. 90 short rifle. A Draco is a Md. 90 without a dong or a wire folding stock. The WASR Paratrooper is the same exact gun in rifle form with a 16” barrel and wire folder. The main thing that bothers me is that clowns who think they’re cool don’t practice gun safety and they refer to every AK pistol as a Draco. The Draco was actually the first gun I’ve owned I got rid of it but it was cool af. Would definitely buy another.
We're also used to seeing mini dracos which are novelty guns.
I've always liked ak pistols ,they look so cool.
Same here watched my dad struggle to get benefits glad these guys are helping vets get the help they need
Draco’s have been a hidden gem- I have a PSA AKP and use that as my main ak for training. Super fun smaller package and if you throw an AK103 brake on it it also deletes recoil entirely
Hidden gem until you know who gets one .. 😂

Thank you for mentioning Charlie. I was wondering if you guys had a split or something, but whenever I looked him up, there were video's of him saying how much you two love each other. It never dawned on me that in the same way that people "modernize" an akm, people can modernize a draco. I like it
76239 is not a good rifle round
Low range and bad ballistics
This is actually best use for it
Its similar to 300 blk
Having a full size rifle in it is pointless
But throw a suppressor on it with a short barrel and it becomes a superior firearm
@paulbarclay4114 the 762x39 gets full powder burn at 16 inches while a 556 makes full powder burn at 20 inches. This makes the 762 more ideal when chopping down a couple inches of barrel while for the ballistics of the 556 will drop more heavily.
Yeah, no@@paulbarclay4114

I constantly try to tell folks you can kit out a Draco as such and make it actually useful.
yah you can but its going to be cheaper and easier to kit out any AR build. the parts are simply better made and more widely available in the US. not to mention that finding good ammo for your AK is going to be a pain in the ass compared to picking up whatever 5.56 at any local gun shop.
Aluminum.

So much higher that you can't see the target. Lol
I have been shooting a Zastava PAP M92 for years and it’s nice…never had any issues with it at all. Ton of fun and super reliable.
Yeah I have 2 Zastava's a m70 and a 92 they both function flawlessly
My m92 was a lemon & after having previous aks, I thought it would work just fine. Unfortunately, I didnt register the thing. Didn't lose a dime tho..
So you identify with the hood dudes ? 😂

I hear you bro took me 7yrs but that backpay was almost 100k
I wish I had the patience to read all of that

SBR’d full-size dracos are awesome. Dong set 😘
They are awesome suppressed with a KNS piston .
I built a 7.5” Mini Draco with similar upgrades to this. Also added an MF’er magwell and a folding stock adapter. One of the best all around effective rifles I have in my collection. BT Dubs, get trained ya’ll ❤
>7.5"
>effective
lol

Just some trivia for you guys. In Romanian (country of origin for the draco) “draco” is a derrivative of “drac” which means “devil”.
I own 3 Dracos(the full size, the micro and the nak9). I just have to get the mini Draco to complete the collection. They are some fun guns to shoot and they can be money pits if you want to add upgrades to’em.
Im half finnish and half romanian. So its kinda funny that both sides are some of the best AK makers apparently. Havent shot a draco but my service rifle was a RK 95 and i loved that thing.
RK 95 🤤🤤
if pistol AKs are called Dracos then pistol ARs should be called Kodras
the name draco only refers to the Romanian made Ak pistols
Draco’s as In dragon cuz they spit hot fire .. I vote AR’s shall be called Bobby’s Boucher !!
Thats not even the draco rappers talk about at this point 😂😂.
I love the epic intros I live for them ... And Charles with a rake
I'm so glad you brought ree med on, I am currently out processing and I feel I may get fucked over. Thanks GT means a lot to have this information out for us
I don't think most people had "spending $3k on attachments" on their board when referring to a draco being crap 😂 I wish you would've tested it in OEM form, which I'm sure is what most people refer to when talking about dracos being meh.....thing looks freaking siiiiick though
A $2000 mk18 pistol without a brace is equally as unusable but no one calls them crap, because very few people are actually capable of thinking.
@@ryantogo8359 not in the slightest. Terrible comparison. I could buy a complete MK18 upper for $1000, and a really nice ambidextrous lower for $600. Points for trying though. A brace and eotech is less than $600. They also come with nice iron sights that are actually useable. Kind of sounds like you're the guy who's incapable of thinking 🤷♂️
@@nickadkins7765He specified without a brace. Which would be a bit pointless
@@zachcd390119 exactly. That Zentico stock with adapter is a $400 piece of kit. SB brace is like $50 and slide on an already existing buffer tube. Pretty sure he's just coping. And I love AK's. I own 5, but let's be realistic!!!
@@nickadkins7765 poor little sensitive guy got triggered how sad. Sorry if that resembled you. Evidently it did. You can put the same cheap buffer tube, stock, and adapter on the draco. Too bad you had to try and move the goalposts though, points for trying. I know, thinking is hard.
I used REEmedical to go from 20% to 80%, took just over a year from start to finish and cost just over $2k.
Cool, you got a rating.
That's pathetic man.
Let me guess PTSD?
How'd it feel to walk past guys with hooks so you could get a rating?
Yeah, I'm a Vet too. But I refuse to seek a rating.
@thefrogking481 cool opinion man, glad you have it.
I'm hosting a fundraiser for a veterans charity here in Miami on Veterans day (Nov 11th), this is your official invitation to come down from Atlanta and we can talk about that and you can support our own.
@@thefrogking481so just because someone got more hurt than you or someone else you feel you and others don’t deserve to be taken care of? I’m a civ and don’t know that much about stuff I won’t lie-it just seems like over the years we have made progress in treating and recognizing ptsd, tbi, and other injuries that aren’t immediately “visible”. Shouldn’t everyone that served get care?
@thefrogking481 Only people who lose limbs should be compensated. Got it. Military takes everything they can from people and when people want 1000 bucks a month to help with back issues, you think they shouldn't be compensated. Nice opinion there. 👌
Why did I understand “Charlie is in the process of moving here” as Charlie is going to live in a tent on the range now. Lol
I love my PAP..got a quad rail for it and that same brake you have, GT. I have ARs, G3/PTR style rifles.. if the apocalypse comes..my PAP is going to be the first thing I grab..its also just sexy and a head turner as the range.
You guys make some amazing content. I appreciate the work you guys put into the videos, I'm commenting so your videos will pop up more frequently. And thank you for your service!!
I love the format of new people rotating through. Id definitely love to see normies run these drills with you
Dracos aren’t inaccurate that’s a safety feature, 1 in 30 should hit the narcotics entrepreneur you’re shooting at

What I love about Garand Thumb is his opening vids are the definition of violence of action. Some Soldiers could truly benefit from watching this to see what violence of action means and looks like.
