- TOPIC-VULVA DEVELOPMENT IN C. elegans (PART-2) || CSIR NET|| DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY | IMPORTANT
Most of the C. elegans are hermaphrodite- they have both male and female sex organ.Hermaphrodite can be viewed most simply as a female that produces a limited number of sperms , so she can reproduce either by self fertilization by using her own sperm , or by cross fertilization after the transfer of male sperm by mating.
The vulva is a part of female sex organ that consist of 22 cells and serves as a structure through which the sperm enter and fertilized eggs leaves the gonads.Vulva development in C. elegan involves a network of intercellular signaling, signal transduction and transcriptional regulation.Vulva present at mid ventrally.
Vulva present at mid ventrally.First vulva precursor cells (VPCs) are born. These VPCs are hypodermal cells(epidermis) ( P3.p to P8.p)
This 6 VPCs have equal potential to form vulva. This 6 VPCs influenced by anchor cells form an equivalence group.Anchor cells secrets the lin-3 proteins(which is similar to epidermal growth factor).VPCs which receive higher lin-3, will become primary (1°) VPCs (central vulval cells).P6.p cell is closest to anchor cells and received high concentration of Lin-3 protein(1°VPC).
The cells (P7.p and P5.p) beside the central cells (P6.p ) received less amount of lin-3, so they developed into secondary (2°) VPCs (lateral vulval cells).VPCs have Surface receptor (Let-23) to receive lin-3 (protein which is acting as a ligand for Let-23 receptor)
Primary and secondary VPCs will lead to the formation of Vulva where as rest of VPCs(P3, P4,P8) will going to form hypodermal(epidermal )cells as they don’t received lin-3 and known as 3° cells.

Please make a video lecture on axis formation of amphibian
it will take time
Excellent 🙌
you made it super easy mam.....thank you so much
Really nice work done.
very helpful
very good work
please make video on evolution and ecology..
ecology video is available on my unacademy profile. u can check description box of most recent video for link .
It's very useful video thankyou so much mam
Thank you dheedhi...very helpful...love you so much....
i am watching this in 2021 good information mam
If we generally conclude the answer of over expression of lin3 would be multivulva ..
Overexpressiion of receptor causes multivulva not the ligand
Overexpressiion of ligand causes to attain secondary to primary and tertiary to secondary
Mam in my entire bsc and msc 1st year course i never studied dev bio and in 2nd year also i dont have it, but the way u taught and presented is just superb, now dev bio has become interesting for me and easy as well, u r really great million thnks to u

Welcome!!
Ma'am reduced lin-3 protein causes- formation of primary VPC but all other VPCs remain tertiary (question in last slide) OR no primary VPC formed (cases chart)... which one is correct?
Mama suppose sare cells block or mutated hgaye hai srf ek(primary vpc hai) or do cells(a.primary vpc b.secondary vpc)/(a.secondary vpc b. secondary vpc) hai or anchor cells bhi apna function kre hai to kya vulva form hga??? Teeno condition k liye answer??
Maam.. Thankyou so much.. Its helping a lot.. I request u to download the gastrulation of mammals.
Thank u soo much man
A and D for second yoooo thankyouuuu ..
1st one for third question
Thanks you again
Hlo mam , Ramachandran plot pr vedio bano , mujhe se topic me Bhut confusion Hoti questions solve krte vaqt
Thanku so much mam ... 😊😊😊🍀👍
Please upload video on Fertilization of Mammals
Superb explanation. If possible then make a video on CLB method for detection of mutation.
Thank you..
i will try to fulfill this request in future uploads.
Best explanation Thank you sooo much☺
welcome!!!
Mam, Let 23 signaling is in which edition of Gilbert
Mam please decribe the role of LIN 41 in heterochromic phenotypes
Very well explained vedio mam... thank you so much for this... but still I have a doubt...i.e in the starting of this pathway u said that all the six vpcs have equal capacity to produce vulval cells...but at the end of this...u said that only pri. VPC have receptor for LIN3 protein...
So how it could be possible that... only P6.p have a receptor for that LIN3
Thank you mam now I am able to answer csir net questions related to this topic.. Its easy to learn from your way of teaching. Can you plz upload lecture vedio about fundamental process?
ya sure!!! but it will take some time,as i am already engaged with many different important topics of csir net.let me complete that first, then surely will try to make the videos on your mentioned topic.
thank you for your feedback.its a great pleasure to here that, these videos are helping you in your studies.
keep supporting....
Thank you mam for your reply ....
Nice mam
Thank you soo much mam🤗
Thanku so much
But ma'am in option B if there is loss of function in lin-3 how will let-23 "create" vulva on its own. I mean doesn't it require lin-3 to make vulva? And if it is mutated shouldn't be there no vulva formation at all?
Di ur video & u r very good my question is ur video notes is sufficient for clearing jrf ? Actually I m in msc 3rd sem so I have soo many pressure but I want to cleaning net during my msc plz ans di and di plz make a video on 2019 december important topic in every unit which make me able to clearing jrf .
frog gastrulation pr vedio banayen plz ...
do we have to study about the signaling pathway ? for csir NET purposes
Thnku mam
Thank you 😊
If let 23 and lin 3 both are mutated do primary vulva formation take place??
If lin 3 is normal and let 23 is mutated then what occur?? Please explain jutaxcrine signal..Thank you its a very helpful for me..
thnkew so much mam
Mam how many founder cells are there based on their cell lineage in c. elegans?
Hi. Can anybody kindly clarify this doubt....in one of the previous year CSIR Net papers, it is given that reduced function of LIN3 results in P6p adopting Primary fate while the other VPCs become tertiary.
Whereas in Gilbert, it's given that low LIN3 OR Low LET 23 will result in no formation of Primary VPCs. Which among the two is right? What will happen when there's lesser concentration of LIN3 produced?
