As far as I know, the zona pellucida does not simply disappear. Instead the blastoceol cavity continues to expand through trophoblasts, which are epithelium, pumping fluid into the cavity. As the cavity grows, so does the tension the blastocyst imposes on the zona pellucida. Eventually the blastocyst pops through the zona pellucida (termed 'hatching').

8:12 . It might be a bit deceiving since the hypoblast (Yellow) is the same color as the endoderm. The epiblast is responsible for all three germ layers

  • @jamescaines8356

The morula stage has 16 cells and the zona still on it... Also all three layers of the tri laminar disk are derived from the epiblast diving in at the primitive streak. The hypoblast is completely obliterated. That point is important but wasnt made.

    Zona pellucida doesn't disintegrate.
Due to the pressure developed by growing blastocoel a slit is produced in it and blastocyst squeezes out through it.
During this process it may split into two forming monozygotic/ identical twins.

We are excellent at giving everything impressive names and we can follow what is happening but we have no clue of how and why these incredible things happens. It’s similar to space we give impressive names to stars, planets, galaxies, but we have no clue of it’s size, it’s purpose,or what it is or where it goes or how it all got there.
