DJI has just released the long awaited Mavic 3, and there are some mixed feelings. While there are some improvements on the camera, range and flight time, it really doesn't justify the ridiculous price. Even a huge DJI fan, like myself are having doubts, but if the ActiveTrack 5.0 can keep up with the Skydio and become the King of Autonomous flight... that might just make me stay on DJI for a while longer.

Actually Mavic 3 sensor is over 10 times larger than Mavic Pro’s. You should calculate the surface area
The extra flight time on the Mavic 3 is a big thing IMO. Of all the new features the Mavic 3 has, the extended battery life is one I'm happiest about!
This is definitely a 2 Battery type of Drone. We did a hover test against the Mavic Mini 2, there's an extra 8 minutes difference. And from real life flights... the battery life we are getting is truly remarkable, not having to come back to swap battery is a bonus. However, we had a couple of experience flyaway moments during mild winds... which is something very awkward. I've never experience that on my Mavic 2. *sigh*
If Sony go into the drone game they’d rule them out. One of the only companies I see putting out their best technology on newer products and not caring about “competing” with their other older more expensive models. The mini 3 pro from dji for example is fantastic but clearly they opted to not letting it be better than say the air 2s, which it definitely could have been. And they still got away with raising the prices a ton
Hi, do you know what's going on with my Mavic 3. When obstacle avoidance sensors are on and I'm flying with not an obstacle in sight-flying over farmland with just a few crops and trees below, the drone starts flying really erratically, like it tips sideways and doesn't maintain speed. It sounds like a car lurching with its motors going in and out. And when I'm not even touching the stick that controls altitude, it suddenly gains altitude on my screen. I was at 80metres and then next time I look it's suddenly shot up to 115m!

Fair and honest review. Most recreational users won't bother buying this model. Gotta love the comments from the DJI fanboys trying to justify their overpriced purchase.
Thanks for watching we appreciate your kind words. Yup.. recreational users really shouldn't bother with the Mavic 3. They'll be a lot happier with a Mavic Mini 2. It may look like a toy, but it's surprisingly good.

The good news is that some of the missing features are available now with the update! I haven't tried testing the drone with this update but I hope the features are good!
If you can't access the new features after installing the updates, try delete and reinstalling DJI GO FLY app. That did the trick for us. Now we're just waiting for Panorama and Quickshots!

Glad you're enjoying it. And truth be told we are enjoying it too. The image quality, particularly during low light settings is mind blowing. Just had to rant about the price tag which is why we made this video. Have you seen the new DJI Mavic Mini 3 leak images and pricing? That one will also be having a crazy price tag.
Dun you think that the obstacle avoidance is worth the money amidst the rest of upgrade from Mavic Pro 2?
I do secretly hope that its autonomous flying capability will redeem a bit of the M3’s dignity. 🤞 From my first few days of tests. It seems like it does know how to avoid obstacles. So far so good…

I’m just thrilled we have free markets to decide what we want to buy or not buy, and plenty of online reviews to help in that decision. A very tempting alternative to the M3 is the Air2S combined with the RC Pro remote for $1749. I haven’t decided which direction I’m headed yet…

Interchangeable lenses? I don't see that. You can put a piece of glass in front of the lens to make it more wide angle but that is NOT interchangeable. DJI's Inspire 2 is currently the only rig they make that has actual interchangeable lenses, which for a pro is a night and day difference.
Batteries for Mavic 2 are so hard to get right now
The Mavic 3 did really come at a price! But if I'd have the money, I'd defiinitely get one. The specs are impressive for a compact professional drone and with more updates, the drone is gonna be even better! Anyhoo, the Mini 2 is truly a beast! Agree!

I like my 3 and happy they finally gave us a half decent sized sensor but I wish it was built better and used the Go App.. I affectionately call mine the Air 3 because that’s what it is… a large sensored Mavic Air..

The Mavic 3 should be able to keep up with some of the cars there. 😅 Plus when the cars kick up all that dirt, that’s when the 4K at 120 frames becomes handy. Cheers! 🎅 can’t wait to see some footage on your channel.
@@JeremyToh haha even my inspire 2 looks like it’s in slow motion compared those cars at the worlds fastest half mile.. I got to hang out with drone racing league number 18 in the world and his fpv could run right with the dirt cars when they had some dirt track events this past summer

Overpriced? First you got the surface area of the sensor wrong compared to 1". Second buy a 4/3 camera and look what it costs :> And then it does not fly :D It is not expensive for what you get. And the missing features are coming soon. Nobody will be talking about this in a few months.
If Apple priced their phones proportional to how fast their new phones are compared to their previous gen, then iPhone 13 would be $20k
No one will be buying it either, even reviewers apart from those in DJIs pocket agree , DJI messed this 1 up !

For me the 'budget controller' which is technically the same as their base model Mini 2 controller.
Then there is the Fly app on a prosumer almost £2k drone, the same cut down app as their base Mini 2 intended for novice pilots.
That's crazy.....😯⚠️🤔
It's Professional Pricing, but budget everything else.

The least DJI could have done was make the controller the same darker grey as the Mavic 3 to differentiate it from the Mini 2, an LCD info/ telemetry panel.wokldn't have hurt them surely?
That controller is just a slap in the face and makes selling the pro controller a little easier again for another thick wad of cash! 😯⚠️😁

Good on you. That long battery life may just redeem the Mavic 3 for me… but the still have to make it less twitchy during flight. Night and Day when flying the M2 and M3 side by side. I know DJI just released the EXP settings, but I think they should have just fixed it on default.

Well now DJI is on the U.S. investment blacklist for aiding rights abuses so what other brand would you recommend?
Don't all the other drones also have parts Made in China? Skydio is an interesting drone for us, because of the whole autonomous flying thing. But if you don't live in the States it's a bit hard to get.
Skydio 2 if you're going to do active tracking.

I think they hate the DJI Mavic 3 because the camera is so weak
Jeremy, new subscriber here.. I fly an Air 2S, and that was too expensive. DJI has made me decide to stop buying from them period, not because they don't make good drones, but because they are out of touch with reality. I'm not going to sell my 2S, but my next drone will probably be an Autel or Skydio - who knows, by then there may be a new drone company that focuses on customers and not CORK SNIFFING! The M3 (with fly more) is not worth over $2K IMO.
Thanks for subscribing. Before DJI, I had a Parrot Bebop and it flew away one day, on a strong gust of wind. It was really unreliable. It had a gigantic remote, that looked like you were ordering a drone strike. So when Mavic 1 came out, it was like the iPhone launch, there was backorder everywhere. It came 4 months later, and I was blown away how good it was, and so are the M2 and Air2S. But this $2K.. they better be shooting missile or at least know how to dodge them. And my first couple of test on the ActiveTrack 5.0 seems decent, it appears like it knows how to dodge trees, but is that feature enough to ask for $2k? The market will decide.

Over priced over hyped, not finished, and the fact is do you really need it ,compared to the Air 2 s M2Pro I think not, I’ve always supported DJI but won’t be buying on principle, oh I forgot that remote ! DJI think we all grow money on trees.
Yea and that RC PRO controller... if you want 1, it's best to buy it in a combo with the Air2s for $1700 from B&H. All the new Mavic 3 owners (including myself) must feel soo cheated. DJI seriously cocked this one up.

Price gouging behavior? Let's not forget the Trump tariff that adds $450 to the M3 fly more kit. Without the Orange tariff, this drone would only be 25% more than the Mavic 2 Pro.
Agent Orange is gone, and so should the Orange Tariff. 25% more for a Mavic 3 is decent.
