Oh man, I have been trying to do an air for the past year and this this morning I watched this video. This afternoon I went surfing and busted the biggest air. Thanks
Never thought about the bottom turn much, but looking back at my attempts I kept going long on airs instead of up because I usually only do a quick mid bottom turn after a pump.
Been sarfing for 15 years and I'm 6'2 200lbs, still never done a successful aerial but I'm determined. My main problem has been not generating enough speed and not enough repetition. Another issue for me has been not riding the proper VOLUME board to support my weight. I used to sink a lot of my old boards and it would be difficult to generate enough speed on these Southern California 2-4 foot waves. 2020 I will launch one though! Idk about landing it...will report back! Shred on
i wasn't expecting much i thought it would be some kook but you're not bad. one thing i think you didn't focus on quite enough is the bottom turn. like you said speed is essential, but i think the bottom turn is just as important. people just don't care enough about bottom turns these days

got my first one today
Sick! I got a little one on film on my last pov vid! I’ve only landed a handful. Staying over my front foot seems to really help.

Surfing like a boss-epic roundhouse cutback. From Cape Town SA
Thank you
epic waves also! not the regular day by day waves that we have here in Rio unfortunately...
LOL! If us floridians can boost them, anyone can learn an air.
What about sliding the front foot forward and projecting your body forward to land at the right place into the wave.
*Really wish i could do airs* 😝

kids these days, neglecting their bottom turns. Back in my day if we did these pansy bottom turns our papa would get the ol belt out.
