Had the same issue, decided to inspect the mechanism I was actually pushing and saw what was moving on the converter. That helped knowing what was moving so as not to break it.
Is this really the reason why? I seen to have the same problem, I bought mine in Costco assuming that I'll be able to move the tank behind bec it's a wide machine... I don't see any videos of a non pro version...

Just got this. Will try the coffee but the machine is so loud we will probably return it. Also find it hard to manoeuvre the baskets, water container etc. Have ran water through it twice and find it does not fill a carafe on 41 oz. You get 3/4 of a pot in stead of a full one. Carafe is heavy and you have screw the lid on which we found awkward as you have to line it up in a certain way to get it to go on properly.

To run a clean cycle: Step 1: Place the empty carafe beneath the brew basket. Step 2: Use a descaling solution specifically formulated for coffee maker cleaning and follow the directions on the package. Fill the water reservoir up to, but not exceeding, the Full line. Step 3: Once the water reservoir is filled with your cleaning solution and water mixture, press the CLEAN button then press the START BREW button to confirm and begin the cleaning cycle. Step 4: The clock will display and count down the remaining clean cycle time, which takes approximately 75 minutes to complete. Your brewer will deliver a small amount of cleaning solution to distribute it through the system. It will then pause, deliver additional cleaning solution, and repeat this process for 75 minutes. The extended pauses allow for maximum cleaning and descaling. IMPORTANT: DO NOT remove the carafe at any time during the clean cycle. Step 5: Upon completion, the brewer will beep, the clock will display End, and the Intelligent Clean Cycle Indicator will turn off. Step 6: Empty the contents of the carafe and place it back under the brew basket. Clean the water reservoir with warm, soapy water to remove any cleaning solution that could affect the flavor of your coffee. Step 7: Fill the reservoir with fresh water up to, but not exceeding, the Full line. Step 8: Flush the system by running a water-only cycle. If cleaning in Grounds mode, run a Full Carafe Classic brew cycle. If cleaning in Pods mode, run a 12 oz. Classic brew. If cleaning in Hot Water mode, run a Full Carafe on BOIL. If it makes you feel any better, Trina, I find myself challenged with this occasionally. If I place the carafe lid with the spout opening to the left and then twist it right(don't press down too hard) that usually works. But I agree it can be tricky. I wish they made replacement carafes; a thermal one would be great too.
