@@NeedNeverGetOld im vegan (4 years this coming April) and eat mostly WFPB but also sometimes convenience packaged stuff. I’m the inly vegan in my family. I don’t cook two meals though, so that’s why I’m not 💯 WFPB…sometimes to get my family to like plant-based meals I have to compromise and add things like plant-based butter, packaged foods…but always vegan. If they want animal products they can have it outside the house (my two teen boys) or make it them self (husband) 😅
@@taniaallan5702 Oh wow! Well good for you for sticking to it and I had the same situation with my family but after they tasted my recipes they wanted to eat them all the time. I have one friend that makes all my recipes but has to add chicken in for her husbands meal as he wont eat anything unless it has "animal" protein in it. She just divides the meals so she can do without the animal products. I have an amazing mac and cheese video coming out in a few weeks and all my non vegan friends and family beg me to make it as they love it that much and they still don't believe me when I say there is no cheese in it as it is that cheesy and creamy and made with all whole foods and no ultra processed vegan cheese or anything like that. Maybe you can make that for your whole family for them all to enjoy. :) Eating healthy whole foods is the way to go and live linger and healthier so we are so happy to have you join our channel! 🥰
Oh amazing! Thank you for the comment. It's delicious and we would love to hear you comment back on your thoughts after you make it. We hope you love it as much as we do! 😀

Onions and tomato for the win!! Love it on there. Makes it so fresh tasting. I love “Jedra”. What a treat - so few ingredients for so much flavour!! Next time I wanna hear Natasha sing while Paul plays!! 😊❤ Is this the kind of dish that tastes better the next day??
Hi guys! This is.a great dish...Stephen's family called it "UMjudra". I just subscribed to yorlir channel and enjoying your videos/recipes.. Well done!
Oh we love hearing this! Thank you so much for the comment and feedback and yay for the subscription!!! Thank you! Thank you! So exciting! Love the name "UMjudra". I have never heard that. Wondering if the way they made it similar to the way my grandmother made it as there are so many other ways to make it online. Paul wats to know if they called it "cumin" or "camoon"? lol.
Not sure if you will ever get me to try this one! I will say that I have been trying to find a knife like yours and no luck! Let me know where I can find one!
@@jessicawallace-nd6cg OMG! lolol Well I posted the link in a comment, for another viewer who was asking over a week ago, where to buy them on Amazon and I just went to look and they are now all sold out!! I will keep you informed when they come back in stock. ;) I love my knife!! Paul...does not. lol
Hi Kathy! Thank you for your comment. I would be happy to answer your question. Adding salt too early can prevent lentils from becoming tender. The acidic salt makes the lentils crunchy even after they are fully cooked and adding the salt and cumin into the cooked, warm lentils allows them to absorb the flavor better. I hope this helps explain it better and we hope you try the recipe and enjoy it as much as we do. We posted all the nutritional facts for Mujaddara on our Need Never Get Old Facebook page if you want to have a look and read them. Very interesting for sure. 🤗Here is the link: facebook.com/profile.php?id=61570243134441
Hi Jessica! Great question! For this recipe, I do not. It's the way my grandmother did it and I believe that's what helps make the dish so creamy. For all other lentil recipes I do rinse them. I always check for pebbles and rocks before putting them into my food storage containers though. :)

Why not add the salt/cumin at the beginning of cooking? Is there a particular reason for adding after it's cooked?
